Gray out site-level profile options

Hi All,
Kindly let me know if there is any sql statement for graying out site-level profile otion for all the profile optinos.
So that the dev user can only modify the profile options at user or resp level but not at the site level.
Kindly help me out with some sql query which can gray out the site - level field at profile options.
Thanks is advance.

Hi,
But they can simply login to Application Developer responsibility (assign it to themselves if they do not have it as they have access to System Administrator) and revert all the changes :)
If each use has his/her own username, you should be able to know who is the one who updated the profile option value.
As mentioned in my first reply, update the site updatable columns in the table, this should stop the users from updating those profile options (try this on a test/dev instance and take a backup of the table first -- please do not apply the same on your production instance).
One other possible workaround/solution would be using forms personalization to hide the system profile option values at the site level but again if some one has the apps password and System Administrator responsibility he should be able to disable the code.
Thanks,
Hussein

  • How to Restrict Site Level Profiles in Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2

    Friends -
    Could you please advise how to restrict control on site level profiles in 11.5.10.2
    For a user who is having system administrator responsibility is there any way that we can restrict site level profiles
    Appreciate your support on this.
    Regards
    Satish Vellampalli

    Hi,
    I believe there is not direct way to restrict a person with System Administrator responsibility from accessing profile options. However, you may achieve this by creating a new responsibility (identical to System Administrator responsibility) and exclude the profile option window from it, and assign it to the user.

  • Grayed out "No Wi-Fi" option in settings on 3.1.3. Help please.

    So ive never had a Wi-Fi problem on my phone till this morning. Everything was running fine last night. I plugged my phone in my computer let it sync then turned off the phone to let it charge overnight.
    When I turned it on this morning I noticed my wifi icon wasn't there anymore. So I went into the settings and it says for WiFi that "No WiFi" and the option itself is all grayed out. I tired rebooting the phone, a hard reset and resetting of network connections nothing worked. I was going to try to do a restore then when I hit the button and window came up and told me that it would erase all the data on the phone and the newest operating system would be installed.
    Thats a problem for me. I've had iOS4 before and I hated it so much I returned that phone and got a replacement 3GS with 3.1.3 installed. Can anyone help me out with this?

    I don't know if anyone cares or not but I just got back from the Apple store it was a hardware issue with my phone so I got a replacement 3GS.

  • Using photoshop elements 13 but the option to crop a single image is grayed out and also the option to crop a scanned image into individual pictures is grayed out - any ideas?

    The option to crop an image is always grayed out or unavailable - both for single images and when I want to crop scanned images into individual pictures. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

    Did you try using the crop tool to see if it is working?  See the tool I am talking about.
    I suspect you are in Guided Mode rather than in Quick Mode or Expert Mode.

  • MG 3250 grayed out 2 sided print option (Yosemite 10.10.3)

    yosemite 10.10.3printer driver 12.3.0.0 have deleted and re-installed printer when printing using airprint option 2 sided can be choosen (but other options are limited) when printing using driver  (to enable lower qulity printing - i.e. fast) - double sided is a grayed out option - and no matter which options are utilised it will not highlight. is there a solution ?  thanks

    Solution found by trial and error. You may wish to note it for future reference. Under "Printer" there was a line, "Nearby printers", showing another version of "Canon MG5300 Series" - I clicked on that and it showed "Configuring printer" for a few seconds. A new printer by the same name appeared in the "Printers and Scanners" section of System Preferences. Then, when I clicked on the options window (at that point showing "Copies & Pages"), the layout was back in the order I was used to when 2-sided was an available option, and (glory be!) when I clicked on "Layout", up came a beautiful black lettering version of the "Two sided:" box. Click on that and I get the familiar options of "Off / Long-Edge Binding / Short-Edge Binding". I hope this helps others facing the same problem.

  • Ibooks author inspection widget: grayed-out title and caption options when object is selected

    I'm trying to add titles or captions to photos in an iBooks Author project. I select the photo, click on Inspector and Widget, then Layout.  The only active option on Layout is the Accessibility Notes.  Is this a bug? What am I missing?

    Right.
    You can create text boxes next to an image for title and caption, but otherwise, those are attributes for a widget with media.

  • How to read responsibility level profile in forms personalization r12.1.3

    All, I have one custom profile option at responsibility level. I am wondering if I can read that value in WHERE CLAUSE of a WHEN_VALIDATE_RECORD trigger?
    I am trying to access responsibility level profile option using "${ps.up_prior_gl_period_allow.VALUE}". But, it doesn't seem to work.
    However, I am able to read site level profile option using "${ps.up_prior_gl_period_allow.VALUE}".
    Please help.

    Have you tried using fnd_profile.get_specific()?

  • Disable profile option updation at user level

    I want to disable the profile option HR: Security Profile or for that matter any other profile option at user level. The user should be able to see the value set by the system administrator (Field should be grayed out) and user should not be able to update it.
    How to do it??

    Try a personalization combined with custom PLSQL, like this:
    1) Acces System Profiles
    2) Help->Diagnostics->Custom Code->Personalize
    3) In the newly displayed Form Personalization form, create a line with a description like this: Prevent modification of USER_VISIBLE_VALUE
    4) In the Conditions tab, set Trigger Event = WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE
    5) Set Trigger Object = PROFILE_VALUES.USER_VISIBLE_VALUE
    6) In the Condition text area, enter:
    apps.xxror_test_sysprofile(:PROFILE_VALUES.USER_PROFILE_OPTION_NAME,'USER')=1
    7) Set Processing Mode to Both
    8) Switch to the Actions tab and create two actions:
    first:
    type = property
    description = Don't update
    Language=all
    enabled=yes
    object type=Item
    target object=PROFILE_VALUES.USER_VISIBLE_VALUE
    property name=UPDATE_ALLOWED
    value=false
    second:
    type=property
    description=Don't enter
    language=all
    enabled=yes
    object type=Item
    target object=PROFILE_VALUES.USER_VISIBLE_VALUE
    property name=ALTERABLE_PLUS
    value=false
    9) Repeat steps 3-8 if desired for other levels, such as:
    Prevent modification of SITE_VISIBLE_VALUE
    Prevent modification of APPL_VISIBLE_VALUE
    Prevent modification of RESP_VISIBLE_VALUE
    Prevent modification of SERVER_VISIBLE_VALUE
    Prevent modification of ORG_VISIBLE_VALUE
    paying attention to update the corresponding names for xxx_VISIBLE_VALUE.
    10) Create the following PLSQL function:
    CREATE OR REPLACE function xxror_test_sysprofile (
    prof_opt_name in varchar2,
    lvl in varchar2
    return number
    is
    v_ret number;
    s_prof varchar2(1024);
    s_uname varchar2(100);
    s_lvl varchar2(10);
    begin
    -- returns 0 if the user "uname" must be granted access the profile named "prof_opt_name" at the "lvl" level
    -- returns 1 if the user "uname" must be forbidden to access such a profile at such a level.
    -- important assumption: the "lvl" parameter may have only one of the following values:'SITE', 'APPL', 'RESP', 'USER', 'SERVER', 'ORG'
    -- or else this function will return 1, thus forbidding the access
    s_uname:=substr(upper(trim(nvl(fnd_profile.value('USERNAME'),''))),1,100);
    if s_uname in ('MY_ADMIN_1','MY_ADMIN_2','SYSADMIN') then
    v_ret:=0; -- no restrictions
    else
         if s_uname in ('MY_POWERUSER_1','MY_POWERUSER_2') then
         -- restrict to only the below mentioned profiles
         s_prof:=substr(upper(trim(nvl(prof_opt_name,''))),1,1024);
              s_lvl:=substr(upper(trim(nvl(lvl,''))),1,10);
              if
              (s_prof like '%WHATEVER%')
              then
                   if s_lvl in ('SITE', 'APPL', 'RESP', 'USER', 'SERVER', 'ORG') then
                        v_ret:=0; -- level acceptable for these users on these profiles
                   else
                        v_ret:=1; -- unknown level, so reject
                   end if;
              else
                   -- these users may not access these profiles, so reject
                   v_ret:=1;
              end if;
         else
              if s_lvl = 'SITE' then
              -- no way any other user than those above may modify site-level profiles
              v_ret:=1;
              else
                   -- any other user than those above may modify lower-level profiles, but
                   -- for now reject all
                   v_ret:=1;
              end if;
         end if;
    end if;
    return v_ret;
    end;
    Pls be aware that testing first on a test instance is always advisable.

  • Connected wirelessly to Canon printer MX340. Duplex printing option is grayed out for me but not on my daughter's non-Mac laptop or husband's PC which is connected to the printer. Mine has two-sided option available at the Apple store. Any ideas?

    We use a Canon MX340 series printer/fax/scanner. My husband has his PC hooked to it and my daughter prints wirelessly from it with no problem with her non-Mac laptop. I have trouble printing. Often it does not print and I have to delete the job from the queue. Other times it will print OK but two-sided printing is always grayed out in my printing options. When I took it to the Apple store and printed on their network (selecting their printer) the two-sided option was available. Makes me think the printer is set up wrong, but I am not certain. A fw times at home when trying to print I got an error message about incompatible fonts, but it printed anyway after deleting the job and starting over. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

    OK, just an update.
    Two years into this, I still find I can only do full duplex printing by using Windows XP running inside of VMWare. I've had occasional, ephemeral luck with duplex printing, but nothing long lasting.
    I've tried this in Tiger and Leopard (now at 10.5.6), and I've had this issue with Canon printers MP780 iP4300 and MP610, direct connected to my Core2Duo 17" MBP. I also have this issue when printing over a network, but that's a much harder problem to solve.
    Currently, this is my #1 most pressing issue for my Mac, because not being able to print from a computer when you print a lot is a really big drag, and using VMWare all the time is also a really big drag. Other people posting seem to be able to print in Duplex using the very same printers. What could be wrong with my MBP? I see the duplex box option, but most of the time it's grayed out as if my printer doesn't support duplex.
    I've tried direct selecting printer drivers from the system preferences, but nothing seems to have an effect. And this is off of a clean Leopard install.
    My wife now has similar problems with her new MBP - the Canon print drivers (CUSP & non CUSP) aren't allowing the Duplex box to be checked.
    I am willing to pay good money to anyone who thinks they can fix this problem.
    Thank you,
    - Jeff

  • Airport option grayed out?

    I just bought a used Macbook Mac OS X version 10.5.6 I am not able to connect to the internet because the only options it gives me are ethernet and bluetooth. I only have a wireless interenet connection and Airport is grayed out as an interface option in Network Prefrences I even tried to go into Airport uTilities and its says "AirPort Utility was unable to find any Apple wireless devices." I am currently on my own Macbook OS X with a different version and I have no problem connecting to my wireless through the airport. Can anyone help or do I need to take it to the apple store?

    You should be able to get to your passwords if you are the admin.
    "I set up my WPA2 network and checked the box to show the password and still when I go into AirPort I can't select the box."
    Did you restart your computer afterwards?
    Suggest that you cross-post in the AirPort where the AP users hang out if you are having problems.

  • All options in iWeb are grayed out!

    This might be a stupid noob question, but when I first launch iWeb, it gave me a bunch of options to choose different templates and create on my own page. Now when launch iWeb, all the options are pretty much grayed out. The only option to choose from under "File" is "Close". Just about all the other options under the other menus are grayed out as well. Any help would be appreciated.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    The only thing that I have heard other people try that has worked more times than on chance alone is to delete the iWeb application and then reinstall iWeb 1.0 from your iLife or recovery disks. Then update to 1.1.1 via Software Update.

  • Grayed out options

    Why is it that with certain buddies in my iChat, I cannot ask them to share their screen? This is option is sometimes grayed out. Other times the option to share my own screen with them is grayed out, and sometimes both options are grayed out.
    Does this have anything to do with who added who to their buddy list?

    Hi,
    Open the Connection Doctor in the Video Menu and then the Capabilities drop down and see if at times it says you are "too Slow"
    Make sure System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming is set to 1.5Mbps and restart iChat.
