I can't send emails via mail. I can receive but not send. I have set up gmail on mail. Any ideas? No problems with the set up previously to this.

Go to Mail Preferences- Accounts and confirm you are providing Gmail what they require to send and receive mail. And DON'T specify Secure Socket Layer. Some mail accts don't like SSL
    Good Luck to you.

  • Can't set up Gmail in Mail 3.5

    Hi,
I cannot set up either POP nor IMAP. I get the error message: Trying to log on to IMAP (or POP) failed. But my user and password are correct.
Interestingly, I didn't receive a testmail from googlemail to my old mail address either. What is wrong?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I just got a Mac for a first time and I'm trying to configure Mail 3.5 with my gmail account and even after having followed all the steps seen on this forum, I just can't do it. The messages that come up are:
"The IMAP server "imap.gmail.com" is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages"
    AND
"The SMTP server "smtp.gmail.com" is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to send messages"
it might be very basic but I can't manage. Can anyone help??
    Thanks in advance!!

  • Great site for greenscreen and FX and tutorials

    Hi
This is a cool place for some greenscreen related stuff to play around with...
Looks like thier courses would be good...
    http://www.hollywoodcamerawork.us/greenscreenplates.html
    Rod
ps. Some info there about simply increasing resolution a little by tilting camera sideways to fill the frame with someone standing --- on a 16:9 par
similar to tilting a still camera frame to accomodate your subject matter....with greenscreen you can treat the motion picture camera ( or video ) in the same way you treat the still camera.

You would think this stuff would be fairly straightforward and easy....
Here's a sample of some text from the green screen sample files ( link in prev mssg )
This first plate is your average matchmoving test shot.   The plate is nice and wide, so we don't need a lot of markers, and it's an   easy matchmove.
ISSUES: The green screen is a bit uneven,   but this is just a test and we didn't light for it.
TRY THIS: You should be able to get the   girl to stand rock solidly on a 3D floor without having to doctor the   matchmove at all. Markers always need some compositing work. See if you can   do two keyers, one that makes the girl look good, and one that crunches out   the markers, and crossfade between them with a garbage matte (see more here).

Sheesh...  I don't mind saying that I'm biting off more than I can chew sometimes...  especially as the above text leads to yet MORE programs than I currently own ( Maya for example is somewhere around $3000 ? )  and then there's Project Messiah and I can't tell you how many different programs...
Here's a sample of a simple workflow from a little video with some rotoscoping and so on....  link to video and then simple description of workflow...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJZ9l74mkqw
    - All the footage was 3D tracked and stabilised in Syntheyes.
    - Camera data was imported into Project Messiah as LWS files and backgrounds were rendered.
    - Each frame was then hand rotoscoped in After Effects and layed over the CG backgrounds from PM.
    - It was then Colour Corrected in Sony Vegas
Well, I don't mind saying that this is worse than owning a SAILBOAT when it comes to throwing money around !  Not to mention learning how to do all these things ....
OK, no more complaining...but I just had to blow off some steam because I'm floundering around in front of my computer, looking very much like a Bass out of water, with bulging eyes and gasping mouth !

  • Best Practice for setting up an office with an extreme

I am looking for some great info for setting up a Business Network using Comcast Business Highspeed. I rencently purchased an Airport Extreme and an Airport Express for a network extender and I am trying to understand what the optimal setup is for this kind of setup. Comcast provides a modem that manages DHCP but I am not sure if it makes sense to use the Airport Extremes built in DHCP or setup the Extreme as a bridge to the Modem and let DHCP be handled there. I am expecting to have anywhere from 30-60 devices on the network depending on the day. Is there any info out there that would help me better understand Apple's recomendation or do any of you have some good info for me? Thanks for the help in advance.

Unless the Comcast modem/router or gateway device has an available option to be configured as a simple modem.....and....this type of configuration is supported by Comcast, the decision about DHCP service has already been made for you.
In that case, configure the AirPort Extreme in Bridge Mode to allow the Comcast modem/router to control the routing functions on the network. You will have to check with Comcast to insure that the DHCP range of the modem/router will supply an adequate number of IP addresses to meet your needs.
That would probably mean a pool of at least 100 or more IP addresses.
Connect the AirPort Express using an Ethernet cable to one of the LAN <-> ports on the AirPort Extreme if you want optimum bandwidth performance for the network.
Keep in mind that all devices will share the same Internet connection bandwidth, so if you have 50 devices on the network at one time, and you have a 50 Mbps Internet connection, each device will be allowed about 1 Mbps of bandwidth.
That may...or may not.....be adequate for your needs depending on how active the devices will be at the time.
If 50 users are all trying to update their email simultaneously, things are going to be sluggish.

  • I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great

I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great!

The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works.  Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up.  Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp.  Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp.  Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.
    Kep trying.
