Grey instead of black as PDF

Hi All,
While saving my business card as a pdf, black seems to go grey, and Im not sure the cause of it. I don’t know whether it’s simply some settings in indesign. I suspect though because I have placed images from photoshop, the contrast of grey against black from PS is very apparent.
Has anyone come across a similar problem and knows how to fix it?
Helen

"You didn't say if you are exporting (recommended) or printing to PDF."
What does this mean? I think im exporting the indesign document to PDF. I am getting my buis card proffessioanl printed.
thanks

My play lists and songs on iTunes and on my iPhone won't play.  They are light grey instead of black and nothing happens when I click on the songs.  All of the songs were either from CD's or from iTunes that I purchased. I have home sharing turned on. This is a new issue.  It used to work fine.  I tried restarting my iPhone and syncing with iTunes. Neither worked.  Please help!

Try delete those songs using iTunes by de-selecting and sync. After that mark those songs and sync again.

  • Lync 2010 client - Drop down entreis are grey instead of black

We are having Lync 2010 environment. Few users, in Lync 2010 client - Drop down entreis are grey instead of black. Could anyone of you suggest, what needs to be done to fix it?
    Thanks

CAS shutdown shouldn't cause issues.  If you type the number you see into the Lync search box, does it normalize to E.164 format?  If you type in an E.164 number into the dropdown and try to call that, do you see the number there in black?

  • [KDE] Img viewer fullscreen backgrd color dark grey instead of black

I've noticed that while running native qt image viewers in KDE to view images in full-screen mode the background color is set to dark grey instead of pure black. If a run a gtk image viewer I get a black background.
In xfce4 this is corrected since most qt image viewers will display a black background, with the exception gwenview.
This leaves me wondering if there is some setting I must fiddle with...

That slider only affects the color of the background in non-fullscreen mode, at least on my end...
edit: furthermore just tried the Fedora Live CD and this issue is not present. So I can only conclude something must be wrong with KDE setup...

  • DJ D4260 prints very light grey instead of black(WinXP).

Cartridges are set correctly set color/black. Color prints fine.  I've tried turning off greyscale.  When printing test page, color is fine but nothing black will print (or it's so light grey I can't see).

    Hello,
Have you able to print sucessful pages in black before?  Is this a new black cartridge?  I might recommend removing the black cartridge to ensure the all of the protective tape has been removed.  Once confirmed, I've attached a link below that may assist in getting this resolved.  Good Luck!.........

  • Why do my borders come out grey instead of black

I am trying to put a border on my images using the stroke outline selection but they come out grey when I click on the black. Any suggestions. Thanks
    in advance

I don't see an attachment. Please try again:
    Open picture file
Make a selection by going to Select>all. Should see "marching ants" around selection
Go to Edit>stroke.. This time go to Location:inside. Uncheck "preserve transparency"
    Click ok
    Does that work?

  • Default PDF text colour is desktop background instead of black

Noticed odd behaviour with new Firefox 6 and viewing PDFs inline (using the Adobe plugin): the default text colour is the desktop background instead of black. Firefox and all plugins up to date.

  • Silver border around my screen, instead of black.

I chose to add "MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display [Add $ 150.00]" to my MacBookPro, but has also gained a silver border around my screen now, instead of the black. Why?

Still, I do not understand why Apple chose to use grey instead of just the other one.... They should just have made this grey one black aswell looks way cool'er..
    Easy,
The anti-glare film is applied directly to the LCD panel at the LCD panel factory and in order for the anti-glare film to exhibit it's properties, it needs to be exposed directly to the light rays bouncing off of everything so it can diffuse them at the surface layer and give you a nice clear picture to view.
If you think about it, a glossy pane of acrylic/glass over the anti-glare LCD panel would render the anti-reflective properties ineffective.
So a bezel is needed to hold the anti-glare LCD panel in place in the frame, so Apple decided to use the same strong aluminum that the casing is made out of, likely from a spare cut off of the machining process along the line, which makes it less expensive than producing a whole new bezel from another material, perhaps at another factory.
Apple could have colored the aluminum bezel black, however that would have obscured the "MacBook Pro" logo at the bottom, and then that would have had to be changed. So it's a snowball effect of too many steps to get the two bezels to look similar, which was very likely hard to do.
But dude.. u just made my day! i'm happy i chose the antiglare now (as i'm working as a graphic designer) ^^, well i've been since I first got the mbp, but lso thought alot about the border around the screen aswell...
As a designer myself in my early days, we had CRT displays and they were all glossy and even slightly rounded, which reflected even more than the flat panel glossy displays of today.
So as a youngster I was wondering why my eyes hurt everyday at work, I was having headaches and so forth, but didn't know (nearly no one did) what the cause was and just accepted it as a occupational hazard.
Then one day we all got these silly looking anti-glare screens hanging in front of our CRT's, they didn't look pretty but it sure did help us be more productive because we could observe the screen for the long hours required to keep production on schedule.
but lso thought alot about the border around the screen aswell...
That's the artist in you wanting to look as cool and trendy as possible, however there is a practical side of things, your computer is a tool first and a fashion statement second.
People who hire you are not going to judge you too much what tools you use, but by the quality of your results in a price and time frame they can accept.
Now if your really serious about changing the silver bezel for black, you can contact TechRestore here who specializes in turning glossy screens to anti-glare, which include a black bezel.

  • Why do old Adobe PDF files which I attach to a document show as Firefox files instead of an Adobe PDF file after an Adobe Reader update??

Why do old Adobe PDF files which I attach to a document show as Firefox documents in my files instead of an Adobe PDF file after an Adobe Reader update?  My saved files Adobe PDF documents also appear as Firefox documents instead of Adobe PDF files.

NO MATTER WHAT VERSION OF WINDOWS YOU'RE USING:
Right click one of the PDFs with the Word icon.
    Select "Properties"
Where it says "Opens With" there is a button to change it from Word to Adobe Reader, which should be in the list of available programs that pops up.
Choose Reader, and click APPLY before clicking OK.
That will change ALL PDFs to Reader as the default application.

  • IPhone 4S iOS 7.1 reduce transparency ugly light grey instead of dark

Does anyone know why reduce trancparency in dock & folders background has such an ugly light grey instead of the pretty dark one that appears on the screenshots about it (I guess they are from the iPhone 5)?
That's ridiculous, it looks so ugly with the light grey...
Maybe Apple doesn't want iPhone 4/4s users to use it to make the phone a bit faster, so they don't get frustrated enough and don't upgrade to iPhone 5? Unbelievable...
Look at the difference between the two (it's actually even uglier when you open or just see a folder):

Because Apple changed it. Submit your feedback directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:

I like the light grey better myself.

I can get Safari home page up but it will not do any searches.  I am connected to internet.  The top left hand arrows on page are gray instead of black.  I can type something in on "search google" line but it doesn't respond.

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • 7410 prints red instead of black

printer prints red instead of black. When I print a test page from the printer setup there is no problem. This happens with two different computers. The print was working last week.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that your HP Officejet 7410 is printing red instead of black, on Windows 8.1 and I am happy to help!  Some questions for you:  Are you using Genuine HP Ink Cartridges, or refills? Are any of your Ink Cartridges empty or low? Have you tried printing from another program? If so, what happened? What is the name of the program you are printing from?  In the meantime, I would suggest to go through the steps within this print quality guide, Troubleshooting Print Quality Problems with the Diagnostic Page, and let me know what happens!  Thank you for posting!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”
