Grey outline around text

Hi I have designed a brochure in illustrator which has a black background and white text, with magenta headings.  The printers are saying that there is a grey line around the text and yet I have applied no stroke and they also mention that it is not trapping?  I have designed the brochure in CS6 and they have CS5 and have selected illustrator CS5 when saving it but I am not sure how to fix it.
Appreciate your advice.

Jacob, while the OP should speak a CMYK color space given this is the destination, if by soaking you mean C=100% M=100% Y=100% K=100% which is exceeding the allowed ink coverage, this is not possible in color managed programs if the color values are entered using the RGB color model. For example in a CMYK document using the RGB sliders set to 0 in the Color panel or entering #000000 in the hexadecimal input field of the Color Picker will result in CMYK values with the maximum ink coverage allowed as defined in the color space (profile) of the document. This can be seen in the Color Picker by checking the CMYK values when entering  #000000 or in the Color panel by switching to the CMYK sliders after using the RGB sliders. Changing the document profile for different paper using Edit > Assign Profile will give different CMYK values for the same RGB values that take into account the maximum ink coverage because print profiles for different media are made also using densitometers.
And if the document is in RGB color mode but the destination is CMYK, the values will be converted at one point by software according to certain predefined rules and I don't think there will be ever a case where R=0 G=0 B=0 will end up as C=100% M=100% Y=100% K=100%. Soaking is only possible if entering CMYK values in a CMYK document and one way to ensure that the ink coverage will not be exceeded is for the very dark and black colors to enter the values using the RGB color model (sliders). Of course this will work properly only if the document profile is the same as the color profile of the printer (paper).

  • How do I create an outline around text please

hi all, How do I create an outline around text please
    thanks,

You can see here that you can simply apply a stroke to live text by double clicking the stroke icon in the bottom left of the toolbar and selecting a color. I chose red.
If you select the text, then go to Type > Create Outlines, you get more options in the stroke palette, like whether the stroke is aligned to the outside or inside of the text object's boundary. The text below is outlined with the stroke aligned to the outside.

  • Help! How do I get rid of this annoying outline around text after exporting to a PNG

I designed a text document in illustrator and it looks great...in illustrator. As soon as I export it to a PNG, an annoying outline around text appears. What do I do?????

For text or 1-color items you can try the .gif format for sharper edges.
Try changing the color of your matte to what the colro of the background is. The image will lok bad, unless you put that on top of your background.

  • IPhone5 touchscreen "develops" grey lines around text and becomes unresponsive

My original iPhone 5 has developed another issue with the touch screen.
When switching the phone on after a few moments the touchscreen begins to "develop" grey lines, both vertical and horizontal around the text on the screen, which eventually renders the touchscreen inactive after approx 2 minutes.  The development of the grey lines is quicker at cold temperatures, e.g. outside
To clear this issue I have to switch the phone off and on again (not power down).  This is now making it very difficult to browse the internet, and write messages.  It is also becoming increasingly difficult to swipe to answer calls.
I am up to date with system upgrades, so currently on iOS 8.1.1(?)
This is the second issue I've had with the touchscreen in 2 months, and I'm beginning to wonder if I should replace the phone all together :/
Does anyone have any insight into this issue/had similar problems, and... is it fixable?
    Thanks!

It is very possible, but first things first.
This is the second issue, what was the first one? What user troubleshooting have you tried?
What do you mean about switching the phone off and on again no powering down? What do you call turning the power off?
As far as being fixable, first need to know what you have done as far as trying to fix the problem.

  • Creating an outline around text or objects that follows their shape

I have tried the offset path, however it gets too large.  I am looking to keep things simple but need a bit more definition that just a simple outline will give.  On this particular image I am looking to create an outline or fill shape behind the words and pistol but wanting to keep roughly the same shape.  Any pointers?

I think I've got it now. The Apreance panel will probably do the trick. Here's how:

We are having trouble with some of our
InDesign files. When the text is flowed in from Word there are grey outline boxes showing up around certain words or phrases. We have been working with the preferences and also the dictionary and nothing seems to fix our problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for your help!

Did you open the hyperlinks panel and delete the links, or change the highlight? You have to change the highlights one at a time, I think. (I hate Word's automatic hyperling nonsense).

Can Adobe In Design CS 5.5 place an OUTLINE (color) around text?
    I don't see it here:

There are methods to use the Effects for such, but the norm, and simple method is to select the Outline Icon from the Swatches Panel for Type Outline color
You would want to select the Stroke weight and Stroke options, some shown here.

  • Thin Outline Around Pohoshop Text

If I create text in Photoshop CS2 with a bevel and emboss, or some other looks, I get a thin white outline around the text when viewed inside Motion 2. I've tried importing the PSD file in numerous ways, I tried rasterizing the layer inside Photoshop but it stays the same. I rendered the movie to see if it would still be there - it is.
    Here are some sample photos:

You have a problem with alpha type.
Right click on your layer with text in Motion -> Reveal Source Media.
The Media tab should appear in Inspector. Change Alpha Type at the top of the list of parameters to Premultiplied-White.
    That's all.

  • How do I get rid of the grey outline on my PDF when viewing it on an iPad

An ugly grey outline appears on my PDF only when viewing it on an iPad. Any idea how to get rid of it?

Actually I've worked out (by testing a different sized PDF) that it's the background of the interface colour For some reason my PDF isn't quite making it to the edges so it looks like it has a 2 pt grey outline + then the black ipad border. I'd like plain black around the edges (the same as if you were viewing it in full screen mode on a desktop computer). Good Reader shows it fine but I'd prefer to use Acrobat. Is there any way to adjust the grey to black?  or why it's not quite making it to the edges?  Many thanks in advance for your help!

  • White box around text in Windows-based PDFs viewed on Mac

I make a lot of Microsoft Word-based PDFs that include colored, text-filled tables. They look great when viewed on my machine, but Mac users see a faint white outline around the text in each cell of the table. How do I get rid of the white box?

Very sorry--that's certainly information I should have included. I have Adobe  Acrobat 9 Standard, version 9.3.3. I'm creating the PDFs from within Microsoft  Word 2007 via the Acrobat tab on the ribbon, clicking "Create PDF."

  • White block around text in preferences UI window

I've recently started getting white (or very light grey) blocks around my text and controls in preferences windows. It doesn't do it in primary windows in osX. below is an example from the iTunes preferences window. Not sure when it started doing it...it was recent but other than calibrating my monitors I don't recall doing anything else that would cause such a thing. And going back to previous monitor calibrations doesn't fix it. Any thoughts?

You are opening an image directly in the browser -
    MM_openBrWindow('dr_chm_allrgt_400x300.jpg'
In that case, you have no control over how the browser
    displays the image.
To get control, you would have to open an HTML page that
    contains the image
instead of opening the image directly.
There are extensions that will do this for you on the fly -
    the one I use is

  • Odd lines around text in dissolve

    Hi Folks,
I have been experiencing some odd lines around text when I am dissolving and can't figure out why. The text is generated from FCP and these lines only appear after rendering. Prior to rendering I can step through the dissolve and all is well. I have tried changing the compressor setting for the sequence to all flavors of ProRes, and even uncompressed, and it has no effect. The only thing that did have an effect was to change to an additive dissolve from a cross dissolve. However this makes the dissolve less linear and unacceptable.
All of the effects handling is being done by Final Cut so there's no third party hardware in the mix. I am running on a 17" MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.8 and FCP 7.0.1 with motion filtering set to best.
Additionally here is a link to an image grabbed from the timeline showing what I am experiencing.

I tried the Outlined Text generator and still have the issue. If I add an outline it actually gets worse. I did however try Boris and with that it goes away. This is really odd and I wish I knew what was causing it. For now though I guess I stick with Boris.
    Thanks

  • Indesign document PDFs with Black outline around pages ... and ...

    Hi guys
I have posted this problem in the acrobat section but have thought it could be an indesign issue also.
Basically I am PDFing an InDesign CC document with crop and bleed for a printer.  For some reason, on some pages, it adds a black/grey outline to pages, and in some cases seems to crop the page so there is no bleed.
Any thoughts?  Original post with image can be seen here: PDF has strange black outline at printers end?
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply Rob.  This is not the case - I know this as other pages in the document have there bleed correct (5mm all around).  I have resolved the black outline issue, but now have this bleed issue.  On my screen the PDF looks fine but for some reason when the printer opens it, they do not get the bleed on the left edge!
    Thanks

I was just wondering what do the different color circles mean when I've located my iphone. So far I've seen a green dot with a green bigger outlined circle around it , a gray circle , a gray circle with a gray bigger outline around it , a real big green circle like the whole circle is dark green. I'm mainly just wondering can you tell if they are texting or using the phone at the time or if its on off or on vibrate is that what those different colors mean?

How can I print a booklet without a white outline around the border? I'd like the front page to be covered entirely.

You either need a borderless printer, or you have to print on oversize paper and trim off the bleed.
