Group Policy enable-psremoting

I have been working on this for the last 10 hours. I cannot seem to get it working. I followed all of the steps from
http://www.briantist.com/how-to/powershell-remoting-group-policy/
Under the Security Filtering I have a PC name with a user just for testing.
Here is my code: Enter-PSSession -ComputerName localhost
Just trying to verify that it is working. I have no idea what to do know. I have tried everything. Anytime I do Enable-psremoting -force the code works fine.
The error I am receiving is as follows.
Enter-PSSession : Connecting to remote server localhost failed with the following error message : Access is denied. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic. At line:1 char:1

I just deleted the last GP and made a new one. The only thing I did was:
Policies/Administrative Templates /Windows Components/Windows
Remote Management (WinRM)/WinRM Service
    Allow Remote Server management through
WinRM
    Set the Policy to Enabled.
Set the IPv4 and IPv6 filters to *
I run PS as administrator and still receive the error access is denied.
The only machines on the network are Win7/Win8    Serv2008R2/Serv2012
Follow the rest of th0e instructions in the link I just posted.  It is a more up to date discussion of how to do this.  Be sure to read the complete article.  Ask questions if you do not understand what he is asming you to do.

    Hi,
    I agree with SenneVL.
After you have created the .scr file that you want to apply, you may deploy the screensaver via the following group policy.
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Personalization\Force specific screen saver
If you enable this setting, type the name of the file that contains the screen saver, including the .scr file name extension. If the screen saver file is not in the %Systemroot%\System32
directory, type the fully qualified path to the file.
Note: This setting can be superseded by the "Enable Screen Saver" setting.  If the "Enable Screen Saver" setting is disabled, this setting is ignored,
and screen savers do not run.

  • How to Remove User from Built in Administrators group With Group Policy Enabled

    Hi,
I want to remove user from Administrator group which is in restricted group. So I cannot remove him through Active Directory what is the way to remove user from Administrator restricted group.
    Thanks

    > Disable Group policy
    "Edit", not "Disable"
    > Under Domain click Delegation and went to the restricted group account.
    > Remove User from group.
Why "Delegation"? Simply edit the GP object where the "Restricted
    Groups" setting is in place...
    > Also we have two DNS but one from where I remove account is the primary.
How is DNS related to group policy?

  • Default Group Policy - Custom policies don't apply?

We have some computers in TEST OU with password lockout after 4 attempts but it doesn't work.  If we disable the Default Group policy in the domain controller then it works.
With the Default Group Policy enable, we run RSOP.exe and it does show the correct policies was applied but why it still doesn't lock the user accounts after 4 attempts?  There is no password lockout policy in the Default Group Policy.
    Thank you!

    > Local Group Policy
This is present because someone opened gpedit.msc on the computer and
    configured something in there.
    > Not sure why, local policy applied to Windows 7 computer.  But for both
    > computers, the lockout policy is still not working.
Because Account policies for domain users can only be changed at the
Domain level, not at OU level. Account policies at OU level are only
applied to LOCAL accounts, not to domain accounts.
If you're running 2008 DFL, you can use FGPP and PSO.

  • Enable Safe Search in Group Policy

We ran across an issue where if a Student typed xxx in the Google Search and then click images, they are submitted to more than an eye full of inappropriate images.  We have the "Safe Search" enabled on our Sonic Wall, but that still does
    not stop the images.
Is there any setting within Group Policy we can set to push out enabling Safe Search on all the Computers within the Network?  Or if anyone has a great idea of how to block these websites?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Based on your description, I agree with Zanderol24 that the third party product should be able to help us in this situation. However, for this is a Microsoft forum, we don't support third party product here, and it's recommended that we contact vendor support
    to ask for advice.
If we are using IE, we can choose to use IEAK to manage IE settings.
Regarding IEAK, the following article can be referred to for more information.
Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK) Information and Downloads
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/ie/bb219517.aspx
Besides, we can also try to configure a dummy proxy in Group Policy Preferences Internet Settings item to block websites for IE 10 or above, but GPP settings can be manually edited by users after the settings get applied. If our IE versions
are below IE 10, we can use IEM to block websites.

  • Remote Registry enabled through Group Policy

I am working in a Win2011 SBS environment and trying to enable services (Automatic) through Group Policy on all workstations in the domain. I need the following settings enabled but not sure how to do it in SBS.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Policies for Windows Services
Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > System Services
     Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
     Startup Type: Automatic
     Remote Registry
     Startup Type: Automatic
     Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
     Startup Type: Automatic
    Paul J. Page

    Hi,
It should be quite similar to other OS.
(Note: RPC services & WMI Service should be started by default. Remote Registry is manual and not started by default.)
    Policy Configuration :
I would start with Creating a New GPO with the name "Automatic Service Policy"
After that follow the default steps
    http://www.grouppolicy.biz/2010/08/how-to-use-group-policy-to-control-services/
Do forget to Link the policy
    Gpupdate / force
I am sure this will work.

  • Can I enable "Use default gateway on remote network" on VPN connection using Group Policy?

    Hi,
First timer here so please bear with me!
Environment: Domain Windows 2003, Clients: Windows 7 and Windows XP (with Client Side Extensions pushed out)
When creating a VPN connection on a client machine manually with default settings the "Use default gateway on remote network" found in [Connection Properties - Networking - IPv4 - Advanced] is enabled, which is good as we don't allow split-tunneling.
I have a test GPO that creates a new VPN Connection [Computer Config - Preferences - Control Panel - Network Options], but the above setting is unticked.
Am I missing something on the options for the GP preference to set this automtically?
I can write a script to directly change the C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk\rasphone.pbk file but would prefer if I could sort it all out using Group Policy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks a lot!
    David

    Shane,
There is actually a way to set the "Use default gateway on remote network" through Group Policy Preferences. And this may even be a better way to do it, because you may change this flag without touching any other settings, or other VPN connections.
(All VPN connections are stored in the same .pbk file.)
Here's the trick: Opening the .pbk file in notepad, I realized that this is actually an oldstyle ini-structured file. And Group Policy Preferences can update ini files! In the .pbk file the section names are the VPN connections names, like [My VPN],
and the property IpPrioritizeRemote is the flag "Use default gateway on remote network".
So, in Group Policy Management Editor, go to Preferences / Windows Settings / Ini Files.
Create a new object with Action = Update, and File Path =
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Connections\pbk\rasphone.pbk
(If this is where your file is located, I guess it is in c:\users if the VPN connection is made for a single user.)
Section Name should be the display name of your VPN connection, without the brackets.
    Property Name = IpPrioritizeRemote
    Property Value = 1

    Peter :-)
This is great, but just one question. I also want to append a list of DNS Sufixes in order (when viewing a VPN properties, this is buried in
"Networking --> IPv4/6 --> Advanced --> DNS --> Append these DNS Suffixes (in order)". However, for the VPNs I have manually created with this list populated, I can't see any entries in the rasphone.pbk. Does anyone know
    where these are stored?
    Cheers.

  • Enable auto update while deploying Reader 11 via group policy

I would like to push the latest adobe reader 11 out via group policy. I have tried using the adobe customization wizard but I am unable to set the installs to auto update. I would like it to be like flash. You can deploy the mms.cfg file and it configured flash to auto update.

  • MSI not installing via Group Policy - Insists location does not exist

    Hi
I am creating a group policy object whereby I am pointing my software package installation to \\192.168.1.3\GPO\MSOCached32bit.msi
The location has permissions for the machine accounts on both the share and the ntfs permissions with read only access.
I have created an OU and moved a Windows XP machine into it, linked the GPO and made sure that the XP machine is not using optimised log on.
From the machine I can reach the share and see the file from the path above.
However each time I reboot the machine I am testing on the installation fails, the exact error being:
The install of application MSO from policy MSO Installation failed. The error was : The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.
This is rather odd, since I can see it, the machine account has permissions to see it and I cannot see what the problem is.
I have then gone on to enable verbose logging of the MSI installer which has produced the following:

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi,
This is not something related to the GPO issue. The issue is with MSI and the packaging. Condition the ResolveSource action.
Try Copying the MSI to local machine using a script and execute it.
ResolveSource actually requires that the original installation source is available whenever it is called. If your installer package is authored correctly, source must only be resolve in cases where the original RTM files are missing or during some patch
    uninstall scenarios.

  • I get a Group Policy Disk Quota failure at every system start

This is very long, my apologies
I asked this question about a month ago and then had some medical problems so I'm starting over again.
Whenever I start my system I get a message on the screen that the system is trying to run Group Policy for Disk Quotas.  To my knowledge I've never set a disk quota policy and I can't find any indication that one is currently set.  I freely admit
that I could be responsible for this.  I might have done something in the early days of the system because it wasn't happening for the first month or two.
This time I did more reading and found a procedure on TechNet at:
"http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749336(WS.10).aspx" which led me step by step through the procedure, although I still can't make sense of the results.
So far I've verified that there are no policies set and that all the hard drives (3) have the Disk Quota bit 'disabled'.  I did this as 'Administrator'.
The results from the TechNet procedure turned out to be quite long but I'm listing it here in hope that someone in the community will be familiar with this problem and be able to use the information to figure out the problem.
    Here are the results:
    From: TechNet Group Policy Testing
1 - Troubleshooting using the Group Policy operational log
a - Determine the instance of Group Policy processing
(Before you view the Group Policy operational log, you must first determine
the instance of Group Policy processing that failed.)
My ActivityID from the Group Policy operational log = C87E5BC2-FD21-4794-B678-787AB587D8D5
2 - Create a custom view, via a query, of the Group Policy instance
    My resultant query:
    <QueryList><Query Id="0" Path="Application"><Select Path="Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy/Operational">*[System/Correlation/@ActivityID='{C87E5BC2-FD21-4794-B678-787AB587D8D5}']</Select></Query></QueryList>
3 - Results of running the query from step 2 are listed below, in chronological order, including the complete 'detail' sections from each event.

Did you ever have luck tracking this down?  Im getting this error and have no clue where it is coming from.  I have not enabled gp disk quotas, but I do have a network share on a domain member server that has quotas attached to each users folder.
I removed the quotas and still get this error when I manually perform a gpupdate.
