GT72 - Dragon Gaming Centre "Instant Play" & Display Colour Calibration issue

Hi guys,
Very much enjoying my GT72, but I've noticed a strange error that I can't seem to find the solution to either on this forum or elsewhere.
Basically the computer boots up to an incorrect colour calibration setting (really blue) which I have tried to set properly with the default windows "Calibrate Display Colour" tool. It seems to stick after doing that, but rebooting reverts it to the previous default.
I've also noticed that when pressing Fn+F4 for the Instant Play, it seems to change color display settings; if it was on the default really blue setting it'd change to my calibration, and vice versa.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to prevent Instant Play changing calibration settings and having my calibration stick between reboots?

Morning guys,
Few quick questions, is the NOS function on the MSI GT60 2PC Dominator automatically applied when gaming as I can't find any separate program that controls it

Does dragon gaming centre automatically shut down background applications when playing games or do I need to download something like 'GameBooster'?
and finally;
Anyone got any suggestions for programs I should REALLY REALLY have on a gaming laptop (essentials) I've got things like ccleaner and uninstal programs but nothing else.

Dragon gaming center doesn't have this feature, but I don't think you'll need to close every background applications when playing games. I never do this and the game still runs smooth.

Dragon gaming centre cannot open

I bought a new gs60 last week and it works pretty good. However, after a windows update this afternoon, when I restart my laptop, it pops the dragon gaming centre cannot launch, and says windows will tell me the solution if it has. Also, when i click the dragon gaming centre icon, same thing happens.
The dragon gaming centre seems not working much for me and the only thing i use it is to launch the steelseries engine to change the keyboard light. So should I just uninstall it? because the error notification pops every single time when I restart the laptop and its really annoying.

I would suggest you uninstall it and go to MSI website to download and install it again. Which version of dragon gaming center and OS do you have?

Dragon Gaming Center – an introduction

Dragon Gaming Center is a nifty tool to set a bunch of settings that are available on the G series MSI Notebooks. The idea with this article is to break down the settings and explain them.
The first thing that meets you when you launch the Dragon Gaming Center is the System Monitor screen:
It does pretty much what the name says – it gives you system parameters in real-time, such CPU load, RAM use, battery status, etc. You can also switch SHIFT profiles and monitor your temperatures and network usage.
Screen 2 is the Utility screen – from here, you can launch applications, with the ones you see in the screenshot are preset. In addition to these, you can add your own applications.
Instant Play comes with four tabs – the first one is ”Instant Play”. Here you can assign the P1 key shortcut to launch a specific application or game.
Tab 2 is Display & Audio, where you can adjust speaker volume and microphone levels, as well as display brightness and gamma.
Tab 3 is Mouse – you can set pointer speed, double-click speed and scrolling properties.
The last Instant Play tab is Resource Release where you can choose which applications will be automatically closed when you launch your preset game with the P1 key combo.
Lastly, Device Setting comes with the possibility to turn on/off the Windows key on the keyboard, and enabling/disabling the high performance profile. Finally, you can once more choose SHIFT modes.

Only the newer version of Dragon Gaming Center has the "Device Setting" tab. It's a new feature with the 9xx series graphics models' Dragon Gaming Center.
The "Hybrid Power" tab shows on certain models which support hybrid power on previous Dragon Gaming Center.

IMac Dual-display colour profiling on second LG monitor

Hey guys,
I just purchased a second screen for my imac to use dual display, im a graphic designer and really need the space. What is the easiest and best way of mirroring the colour setting of the iMac to my second screen without the use of 3rd party colour calibrating software?

Not included in the current lists there were a dozen other DYI profiles between the iMac and LG that were so bad, I had to delete them.

Oh' almost forgot to mention, uncheck that box "Show profiles for this display only" and try some of those sRGB and RGB profiles to see if you can get closer that away.

Why are my Illustrator Cs6 PDFs missing / displaying colours incorrectly?

I recently upgraded to Cs6, and since doing so have noticed the PDFs i'm ouputting are displaying terrible on both mine and clients' Macs alike. When viewed with Adobe Acrobat they are fine, but if I use any Mac native applications like Preview they are either missing elements or displaying colours are black.
Perfect example, I sent an PDF document to a client (output by CS6) and a third of the content was missing when she viewed it. For me, it displayed fine in all Adobe applicaitons.
This is happening in both RGB + CMYK modes.
Im worried that one day very soon i'm going to end up with a phone call from a client about 50,000 brochures they cannot use due to colour issues..

I find that Preview is genearally pretty lax at displaying PDF files. If they are fine in Acrobat, then it seems you won't “end up with a phone call from a client about 50,000 brochures they cannot use due to colour issues.” hopefully!
What presets are you using when exporting your PDFs?

Netflix Instant Play will not work with Firefox but works fine with Internet Explorer

When I log in to Netflix, I cannot play instant movies from my Queue. I called Netflix and they said to reset my router. I did this and now Netflix Instant play works with Internet Explorer but not Firefox.

I am able to type a search word in but on clicking it, nothing changes. No results. the word just stays there.
I also downloaded the https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/live-http-headers/ -- at first I wondered if it was not letting me install. So I allowed it in exceptions. But I'm not clear on what it does or what I do to use it.

Lightroom and photoshop display colours differently??

I have just done a colour critical shoot of fashion garments. There is a dramatic difference particularly noticeable in Purple colours between Lightroom and Bridge. Lightroom displays it as blue and Bridge displays it correctly. I cannot figure out why this is - it means that I cannot work in Lightroom as I am not sure if the colour is correct or not.
Please - if anyone can shed some light on this I will be eternally grateful.
By the way I work on a mac with CS3 and the latest lightroom - on a calibrated system so it is not a calibration issue.

Are you sure that bridge is actually generating previews from the RAW and that you are not just looking at the camera-generated jpeg preview embedded in the RAW? This is pretty typical for bridge to do. The camera-generated preview generally looks very different color-wise from Lightroom and ACR because the camera manufacturer. Test this by double-clicking the RAW in bridge. Usually the color will be quite different from the preview you see in Bridge. After you close ACR, the preview will get updated in Bridge too. The reason behind this color difference is that camera manufacturers use secret, proprietary algorithms to determine the color from the camera's raw sensor data. This color is not necessarily correct, but what they consider "pleasing." If you shoot RAW, your RAW converter supplies its own interpretation of the data. Usually based on shooting color patches with the same camera.

Colour Calibration / White Point setting - Is Imac Display really professional quality

I am trying to calibrate my imac 27" using i1 Display2 calibration software. I am trying to set a traget of 6500 using the software but it advises the current is only 5600 and suggests moving the RGB sliders to get this current white point up to my 6500 target. Unfortunatly i have no idea where i find these sliders on my imac. Can anyone advise how i change my current white point to get to the 6500 target?
Also, on the brightness issue, does shades work to reduce my brightness or will it simply interfere with my colour calibration?
Finally, i was going to use my iMac for professional photography. (Mainly on line but some print work required). Honestly, is the iMac display up to the job or should i consider changing

Corbybhy, the glossy screen is the biggest and silliest myth out there. Really.
I have been a professional art director & designer for over 26 years, and by the way, for many years my high end professional CRTS were made of glass (and glossy). Another myth is that the screens cannot be calibrated, and are too bright. Hogwash. I use Spyder3Pro and have had few problems, guessing your device will be the same. Actually, the monitors seem to stay consistant for a heck of a lot longer than the old high end CRTs did. In the old days, most professionals calibrated to 5000k, but these days 6500k is the standard.
The amount of MISINFORMATION that is being spewed always amazes me. If you can keep your lighting consistant and somewhat dim, your life will be easier. Reflections are simply not a major issue, and are also overblown as a issue (by the way, my iMac sits next to a window, I just use shades to dim the ambient light).
I work mostly in print, and produce mostly publications, advertising & marketing materials. I have ZERO issues with my screen matching my proofs. ZERO. I do a huge amount of imaging, retouching & post-processing... all from my 27" iMac.

How can I alter the display colours on ios7

How can I alter the display colours on my iphone and iPad. The new white grey with some bright colours is driving me mad. I have vision problems and this new theme is making it very difficult to use. Turning brightness down doesn't help.

The problem is that the nr. 3131 dosen't have a MAC/IP address, it was created in Directory Nr. not on the Device/add device, the nr was created to be able to call Avaya agents and the user to not see the personal agent nr ( 3131 ), only the name. The problem is when a place a call the nr from forwarding appears on the display instead the name I put ( Test ).

Why does opening CS6 cause my display colours to change?

Hi guys,
My problem: Whenever I open CS6 (Photoshop, Illustrator...) my display colours on my laptop change. WHen I close the colours shift back to me defult settings. The Image mode is on RGB.
I have a new MacBook Pro with 6GB of RAM.
Any ideas? It's making work (digital advertising) difficult.

Maybe does it happen for the switching of the graphic card from Intel HD to Nvidia GeForce?

Every time I try to use Netflix instant play the browser closes with no explanation.

Every time I click on a link for a Netflix instant-play movie, the browser instantly closes all windows and tabs (quits, in fact) with no explanation. The rest of the processes on the computer are not noticeably disturbed. I use Firefox version 3.6.3 on a MacBook running Mac OS X version 10.4.11, and 1 GB of RAM is available; all of these parameters meet the system requirements listed on Netflix's website. Furthermore, my Microsoft Silverlight is fully updated. Any advice?

How to stop Dragon Gaming Center's auto-start?

Dragon Gaming Center is a good monitor, but i only want to start it before gaming. i cant find anything about Dragon Gaming Center in msconfig.exe and services.msc, but it already can auto-start. How to stop it?

Nevermind, found it and fixed it.
After some googling around further I found this page which said it was started by a scheduled task. ( second result was shouldiremoveit site, but I can't post external links here )
So I went to taskscheduler and found it through the active task list at the bottom. (make sure you run it as administrator if you want to change it)
It is called "MSI_Dragon Gaming Center" and engages at logon. So I thought, "Well, why not simply disable it". Well, as it happens, the taskscheduler gets a fit and looses it's marbles (seriously! scheduled task lists seem to get flushed) when you try to disable it (right click on it for context menu) because somehow it was assigned by MSI to be done by an incorrect user, named "User" or "Users". I can't remember exactly anymore. The former does not exist by default so some MSI dev might have forgotten to replace a systemvariable reference. The latter is a user-group, not a user! It may have caused the fault because I have a dutch language pack, and that group is named differently on my system. It's aka "Built-In\Users" in english. Anyway, correcting this was the fix that allows it to be disabled/edited.
So, I opened the properties of the task (again right click for context menu) and changed the executing user to my personal useraccount. When that succeeded I was able to disable the task succesfully, and it didn't start at login anymore.
