Guest client disconnect non guest clients

Hi,
I have 2 WiSM in the branch office and 1 4404 working as Anchor in a DMZ all with the 6.0.188 version. In this moment just 1 AP 1242 is working, in a testing environment with 2 SSID:
1. internal WLAN with WPA+WPA2 802.1x with certificates
2. Open guestnet in a EoIP tunnel
Internal users working correctly, but when other clients start to connect to the guest network, clients connected to the internal network are disconnected.
Do you know some way to assign to the ssid a priority or what can I do to mitigate this problem,
Thanks

i like it when i get debugs :).

your issue is the client is not doing DHCP. is the dhcp required checkbox enabled on the wlan advanced tab?

  • Airport Express disconnects non-Macs

My Airport Express network has been working flawlessly for my MacBook Pro, including Airplay. However, my work PC and Android phone both experience frequent loss of internet. During this time, they both register still being connected to the network, but have no access to webpages or VPNs.
I read a suggestion to change my security type to TKIP rather than AES, so I set up the guest network with WPA/WPA2 TKIP and the issue has persisted. Any thoughts out there?

I just wanted to echo the problem. I also have occasional disappearances of the AirPort Express, completely without reason. I'll be using the internet, or not...listening to music, or not...and poof, all signal bars are gone, no more connection between the computer and the AE. The LED on the AE stays green, indicating no problem.
I do a soft reset on the AE. Still not appearing. I shutdown, wait, and restart the computer. Nothing. I have to do a hard reset on the unit to get it to be "seen" by the computer again, and set up the AE and my wireless network from scratch. Annoying and frustrating.
This tends to happen about once or twice a week.
I guess it wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't have to re-enter all the Airport Express settings/passwords each and every time.
    Any ideas?

  • Ipod won't sync with itunes...songs dissapear after disconnect

Everytime I connect my ipod and add news songs that I've just imported. It goes fine and normally until I disconnect. After I check my ipod after I disconnect, none of the new songs are there.
    can anyone help?
    thanks.

    hiya!
I can see the ipod_controls folder. so its not hidden on my ipod.
you can see it it you have "view hidden files and folders" switched on in your view settings, so that's still normal.
so we'd better start working through the creepier/rarer possibilities when it comes to "synch goes apparently normally, but no songs appear".
at this point. I'm almost ready to restore my ipod. sigh
that's actually worth trying. i've seen one or two cases of things like this where the problem seemed to be a corrupt database file on the ipod. (so the song files were synching, but the ipod just didn't realise that they were onboard.) a restore might be able to fix that.
do you have backups of all the music on that ipod? here's a good resource on backing up:

  • Not recognising when on the domain

Hi all, I've been banging my head against my desk for a few days now trying to work this one out, hopefully someone can help me.
I've got some Dell Venue Pro tablets with Windows 8.1 running on them.  They are connected to our domain via Ethernet (docking station) and function without a problem like that.
Now as they are tablets I want to be able to walk around the office with it and connect to Wi-Fi, so I pick up my tablet (tablet is logged on as me on the domain) and it disconnects me from the Ethernet network as the link is no longer there.  I open
up my wireless network or 3G connection and connect to that and browse the internet or whatever I want to do.  I don't connect to the domain over the wireless connection, it's a separate network.
Now I come back to my desk and drop my tablet back into the docking station so the Ethernet port is now recognised again.  At this point the Windows Firewall should realise that I'm back on the domain and put the 'Domain Firewall Policy' on, but it
doesn't do that.  Windows doesn't recognize that it's back on the domain at all.  The network icon doesn't rename itself to my domain, sometimes it just sits and says 'identifying' and 'limited', sometimes it calls it 'Ethernet 2' or 'network
2' and puts that connection into the Public or Private Firewall profile.
I also have a group policy to disconnect non-domain networks when a domain network is connected, this doesn't happen either as it's not recognizing it's back on the network.
If I reboot the machine sometimes it comes good and recognizes it is back on the domain, sometimes it doesn't and remains connected to the WiFi and Ethernet.
In the event viewer I get messages that it can't contact the DNS servers due to timeout, I know that they can because they are there and all other machines are ok - they can ping them fine.
I've tried with static IP on the Ethernet (hard coded DNS as well) but it doesn't make a difference.
If I'm on the domain and remove my tablet from the dock but don't connect to a wireless network then when I put my tablet back in the dock it always works.  So something about connecting to another network is screwing up the DNS recognition when I connect
    back to the Ethernet connection.
    Anyone have this trouble before?

    Hi,
Since it prompt DNS servers timeout, there should be a record in Event log, please follow the path below to check if Event Viewer identify the problem:

Please also post the detailed log information here is Event Viewer identify the events.

  • [SOLVED] NetworkManager taking long time to show available wireless

I've been using Arch since May. I never had any problems connecting to wifi--my laptop has always connected automatically to my home wireless network within a few seconds of booting to my desktop. I use Network Manager, with the network-manager-applet on my panel.
All of a sudden, for no apparent reason, every time I boot now I cannot connect to the internet for several minutes: When I click on the panel applet there are no available wireless networks listed. It's only after several minutes (it varies slightly, usually after about 2 minutes) that available wireless networks finally show up in the applet.
The physical wifi switch on the laptop is securely in the "on" position. NetworkManager is running as soon as the system boots, and lsmod shows me that iwlwifi module is loaded. There are no errors in the journal. I haven't changed any network settings in a long time. Why is it suddenly taking NetworkManager several minutes to show me the available wireless networks after a reboot?
EDIT: During the time when I have no wireless networks available I get this:
    eileen@vaio ~ $ nmcli general status
STATE CONNECTIVITY WIFI-HW WIFI WWAN-HW WWAN
disconnected none enabled enabled enabled enabled
eileen@vaio ~ $ iwconfig # notice that wlp2s0 is not listed in the output!

    Error: Device 'wlp2s0' not found.
    eileen@vaio ~ $ sudo ip link set wlp2s0 up

After wireless networks finally show up in the applet, I get this:

Could the problem be that the kernel is taking a long time to detect my wireless card and designate it as wlp2s0 (which needs to happen before NetworkManager can do anything)? If so, how can I tell the kernel to prioritize looking for a wireless card when the system boots?

Notice the firmware load failures at 15 and 75 seconds after boot, and the fact that it's not until 135 seconds that the firmware for the wireless card is finally loaded.
This suggests to me that the culprit is either the kernel (and/or its iwlwifi module) or the actual firmware. I will try different versions of these packages (linux, linux-lts, and linux-firmware) and will report back.

  • Power Mac G5 frozen

When tried to send my first fax, my G5 froze (spinning pizza - nothing would work). I have shut down computer, unplugged and rebooted several times. After several attempts and disconnecting non-essential connection and even another outlet for power source. Screen opens and everything looks good, but when you move the pointer to open something, nothing will work (not even finder). The only thing I get is a continuous spinning pizza.

  • Wierd Mac Installer problems

Im not sure why but i cant get any .pkg files to install properly. At some point in the installation the UI becomes totally un responsive and i get the spinning beachball of death. This happens for me with various pkg files, namely the iPhone SDK installer and the Onyx installer package?
    Does anyone have any ideas?

See my post with this same post date in the topic iLife '09 installation problems; run preflight script error for one possible cause of this behavior.
It also could be that you need to run the "Permissions Repair" option in Disk Utility's First Aid tab to correct some permission on a system file used during the installation procedure; that your drive's file system needs to be repaired with the "Repair Disk" option; or that the drive does not have adequate free space to complete the installation. (As a rule of thumb, try to leave 10 to 15% of the startup volume's capacity free, or at lease 5 GB over & above whatever the installer tells you is needed for the install itself.)
As a general rule, it is a good idea to quit all other applications before doing an installation that uses Apple's Installer.app, & it may be necessary to disconnect non-essential peripherals (everything except the keyboard, mouse, & monitor) & restart before doing so. You should also consider removing any hacks or uninstalling any third party "enhancers" that modify basic system behavior before doing installs, or at least making sure that the latest versions of such things are installed. (Some "enhancers," especially "Application Enhancer" -- a.k.a "APE"-- are installed by other third party products & their developers do not always make that clear, so do not assume one of these things is not on your Mac just because you have not installed it directly.)

I am suggesting you to fresh install OS and SCVMM 2012 R2 in different server. Once you install and configured SCVMM 2012 R2 then disconnect One by one Hyper-V servers from SCVMM2008
    and add in SCVMM2012 R2.
For testing purpose disconnect non critical Hyper-V server and added to SCVMM 2012 R2.

  • How to delete a PS network with status 'Technically Completed' (TECO)?

    Dear all,
We have Webdynpro application, which will create a PS network in background. In the past it was working fine and many PS network  are created. Now we have a scenario where some of the networks which are with status 'Technically Completed' (TECO) needs to be deleted from system. I tried to delete it from CJ20N, but it was not possible as the status is set to TECO. Please let me know how to delete a PS network which is with status 'Technically Completed'  (TECO).
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Vijay

The cluster goes out and finds all networks that are available.  This is an automatic process.  As long as there is a network there, it will show it.  If you don't want it to show, disable the interface and it will disappear.
    . : | : . : | : . tim
Thanks a million Tim! Disabling the correct interface made it disappear!
Actually, I had disabled the interface before I started this thread. When you posted the suggestion, I went back and looked at the network connections again and found out that I had disabled the wrong interface! My bad!
However, here is the interesting thing:
After I disabled the NIC and it disappeared from the FCM I physically disconnected its cable (actually I disconnected all unused / unconfigured NICs) ....then I re-enabled it. Now I see that FCM does NOT pick it up again.
I think FCM picked up those NICs because at one time I had put that NIC in the production VLAN (from the switch side).
    One observation:
If you have NICs in a HV machine which are not connected to a switch, they do NOT show up in FCM. Once you connect them to some network, they start showing up. I guess by connecting them to a network, they are able to see NICs in other HV nodes.
Take a look at this screenshot. I have 6 NICs in there which are disconnected, none show up in FCM

  • Leopard 10.5.5 Update - Freeze on Boot, Apps Freeze, Screen Glitches, etc..

After upgrading to Leopard 10.5.5 I've been experiencing MANY issues which I think are related to how 10.5.5 works with my video card (see below for system details):
If I shut my computer down it takes about 20 tries before it will boot completely without video glitches and freezing
Each time I start the computer it gets a little farther in the boot process before freezing
I have tried starting in Safe Mode but the computer never gets past the Apple logo and spinning wheel
I have tried Zapping the PRAM and this seems to help get a little farther in the startup process but doesn't do much else
All applications will freeze up randomly, giving me either a glitchy screen, spinning color wheel or both
If I ALTCMDESC during a application freeze, the Force Quit screen appears and the frozen program will work okay again (without me having to quit it)
Sometimes the computer will freeze and the screens will completely and flash different colors. This requires me to hold down the power button until shutdown
Repairing disk permissions gives the same error after every time I startup. As if every time I shut the computer down some disk permissions get messed up.
I have uploaded images of the screen glitches I have been getting as well as a text document with my Disk Permission Repair Report here
    http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=batchdownload&batchid=Y2o4Y050dENYSHhjR0E9PQ
If anyone has experienced problems similar to these and has any suggestions on how to fix it without rolling back to 10.5.4 please share.

Screen glitches and system crashes that still persist even while booted from the Install Disk points very strongly toward a hardware problem, even if AHT can't find it. Things to consider:
AHT asks that you disconnect non-essential pheriphals to run the test, & it doesn't test them. But you can just by removing them temporarily. (Note the the installer disk will boot the system even if no hard drive is installed.) Extend this to everything that can be removed without making the Mac Pro non-functional, including anything non-essential in its PCI slots.
Even though third party RAM is more suspect than Apple-supplied RAM, the latter can go bad as well. Try every combination of the minimum number of modules needed to run the OS on your Mac Pro to see what happens. You can also try extended RAM testing with Rember. You may also find the "Press" links at the Rember web site useful for more info about this, for example Troubleshooting Tools: Memtest and Remberfrom MacFixIt.
Physical inspection of the hardware sometimes also helps: are all cables & connectors (both internal & external) tight & in good condition? All covers in place & properly oriented? Any foreign objects lodged anywhere in the case, especially small bits of metal or other conductive substances? Mac Pro's are very cleanly designed inside as well as out, but it is still possible that the problem is caused by something like this.

  • Mac Pro SMC Firmware Update "An Unexpected Error Occurred (0)" HELP

Mac Pro SMC Firmware Update (Version 1.1) Size (970 KB)
"The SMC Firmware Update adjusts fan behavior in Mac Pro. The updater application will be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder and will launch automatically. Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the process."
-----THIS IS WHAT HAPPEND TO ME----I try this morning to install and this is what I got:
" An unexpected error occurred (0).
Your firmware can not be Updated. "
    "See www.apple.com/support for more information."

Are you booting from RAID? even though it warns that you can't be booting from RAID, some people still run the update.
    Any problem with your system?
While it only says that you need to quit any and all open programs, sometimes it helps to reboot (and boot into Safe Mode) just to begin the process.
When there was an SMC Firmware update before (last fall) some people also had trouble.
We aren't mind readers, and to say it failed doesn't give those of us reading this (and non of us are Apple tech support) a lot to go on.
+Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the process.+
+To update the SMC firmware on your Mac Pro:+
+Your computer’s power cord must be connected and plugged into a working power source.+
+1. Quit all other open applications.+
+2. Click Restart in the Mac Pro SMC Firmware Update window and wait for your computer to restart.+
+The SMC firmware update starts automatically. A status bar indicates the progress of the update. During the update your computer fans will run at full speed, but will return to normal once the update completes.+
+Important: Do not interrupt the update.+
+Your computer restarts automatically when the update is completed and opens the Mac Pro SMC Firmware Update.+
+3. Click OK. The SMC firmware is now up-to-date.+
+If these instructions appear on your screen again, the SMC firmware update was not successful. Repeat steps 2 and 3.+
    Note:
+This update requires a Macintosh formatted disk or partition. If you are starting up using a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) subsystem, you must attach a Macintosh formatted storage device to apply this update.+
*+Some USB and FireWire devices may prevent firmware updates from installing correctly.+*
*If you are having trouble installing an update try disconnecting non-essential devices and use only an Apple branded keyboard, mouse and monitor.+*

  • Linux 3.2.8 - older nvidia driver needs a rebuild

For those still using an older nvidia driver - this version needs a rebuild, eg.  NVIDIA-Linux-x86-285.05.09

In the search link I gave above: b43-firmware-latest is for kernel 3.2+ and b43-firmware is for <3.2.  That is the, ahem, AUR search link good sir.   If someone is using b43-firmware however, they may not catch that they need to remove that and migrate to b43-firmware-latest when kernel 3.2 hits.
I actually have a Broadcom 4311 in my laptop.  I never use it and use a wired connection instead simply because no driver I've tried has been stable enough - mostly frequent disconnects/non-responsive - so when 3.2 hits I may just try it again with b43-firmware-latest and see if it's better!

Okay, Everything has been working fine over the past few days with putting music on my iPod Nano. Until I connected it with my home comp. (Windows XP) and when I select the songs from my library that I want to Import to my iPod, the screen flashes (like normal) "Do Not disconnect" then immediatly goes back to "ok to disconnect" none of the songs I want are being transferred. I am checking the songs I want from the library, and going to "File" then "Sync Songs".. is that right?

In your iPod preferences, under the summary tab, you must have "sync only checked songs" for this to work.
