GW Export - Login Time conversion

Hi,
When I use GW Import/Export to get the Login Time it is displayed as a very large number. I learned this is actually the number of seconds since January 1, 1970. I'm no math major so is there anyone who has a formula that I could use in Excel to convert this number into a useable and recognizable Date & time value? Thanks in advance.
Mike

  • How do I export a Final Cut Express 4 movie using quick time conversion without stretching the image?

I have created a movie in Final Cut Express 4 using videos and still photos of various aspect ratios and resolutions.  Some of the photos are verticals.  When I try to use File>Export>Using Quick Time Conversion, my images end up being stretched horizontally when the video is finally processed.  I have tried preserving the aspect ratio but the video still ends up stretched horizontally.  What should my settings be in Quick time conversion?  I just want to make a video for YouTube.
    Thanks.  -Bob

If you shoot in one of the following modes you should be able to Log & Transfer directly into FCE:
HD:  1920x1080/60i (FX or FH mode)
HD:  1440x1080/60i (HQ or LP mode)
    SD:  720x480/60i
1080/60p (PS mode) seems to be the default mode in your camcorder.  FCE only supports progressive video in 720p50 or 720p60.   That's probably why you have had to import via iMovie.
It would be better to upgrade to Final Cut Pro X, the version currently supported.  FCE was discontinued over 18 months ago and is not supported on Lion or Mountain Lion.

  • When i try to export my videos using quick time conversion FCE exits out on me. why does it do that?

When i try to export my videos using quick time conversion FCE exits out on me. why does it do that?

Does it always happen at the same time during the export?
Can you play through the entire Sequence in FCE without any problems?
What are your Sequence settings in FCE>
Have you rendered fully prior to exporting?
Which export settings did you use?

  • Trying to export a small video using Quick Time conversion

Hi...i apologize if this is a stupid question...i'm still kind of new at FCP. I'm trying to export a small one and a half minute video into a Quicktime file that's less than 1 GB. I exported as a Quick Time movie and it came out to 2.6 GB. I tried compressing using Compressor that and it took over 2 hours so I canceled it. I then tried exporting using Quick Time conversion and it came out to 66 MB, which is more what i'd expect. Except that the picture was only in the upper left hand corner of the Quick time viewer...the rest was black. I tried adjusting the dimensions, etc. but it didn't work. Any idea why this is happening? Are there some standard settings I can use for this? The video is for the internet so I'm not too terribly concerned about the picture quality. Thanks.

What format is your media, Easy Setup and what are your Sequence Settings?
    They should all match.
When you export, do so using the following path: File > Export > Export to QuickTime.
Make sure that "With Current Settings" and " Make Movie Self-Contained are selected.
This will give you an independent movie that is not compressed and uses the same codec as your source material.
Depending on how you want to deliver your movie will determine what happens at the next stage.
    Post some details about it.

  • Can't use Final Cut Express Export Using Quick Time Conversion with iDVD.

I am using iDVD 08v 7.0.4 and until 3 days ago I could import and create iDVD's using Final Cut Express export using Quick Time Conversion. There was an update that downloaded for iDVD. Since then, I can only use Final Cut Express Exports that is a self contained Quick Time Movie.
I have never had this kind of apple and apple problem. I am disappointed that I'm having apple issues like this.

Are you on latest 10.5.x release and latest FCE updates? Your info line says 10.5.1 and you didn't list FCE version. Not saying that will fix problem, but might help. You also might want to explain how you did your Quicktime conversion.

  • Final Cut Express Quits when exporting using Quick Time conversion to MPEG2

I'm new Mac user and I'm trying to compress a movie from Final Cut Express HD when exporting using Quick Time conversion to MPEG2 format when I do that Final Cut application quits.
and if helps you to answer I have the same problem trying to do the same from iMovie HD and from Adobe Premier 6.5

"exporting using Quick Time conversion to MPEG2 format"
I'm not sure how you can get to that point: I cannot even find MPEG2 in my list of compression types while exporting with QuickTime Conversion... (I have 31 of them, and QT 7 Pro installed).
In any case, if you want to make a DVD and have iDVD installed, you have simply to Export/QuickTime Movie (without conversion): iDVD will take care of compressing your movie for you before burning the DVD.

  • Export Report times out - how do I export all my customers?

We have about 35,000 customers in our BC database.
I'm trying to export them for use in a direct mailing campaign (and other reports for other reasons) but the export always times out.
The reports are very simple; ie.
Custom Report -> Add customer report
    Select Customers (Contacts & Companies)
Select CRM ID, Customer Name, Default Address Type
    Next
    Generate report (no filters)
About 33,000 results are in the report.
I then select Export Report as CSV or Excel and it will sit there for up to an hour or more and do nothing.
    Notes:
I keep the session live by having a login in another tab.
Have tried differenty browsers and internet connections.
I even filtered the results (based on create date) and same problem occurred with just 15,000.
How can I export this report and other simple reports I need?
    Regards,
    Troy.

After Sanjit took a look at this it turns out all I needed to do was to save the report before exporting the results. The export was much quicker and, now we have more cutomers in our database, it actually exports!
    Thanks again Sanjit.
    Troy.

  • Export w/ Quicktime Conversion - aduio destroyed

I do a weekly video for posting on Vimeo.com. My normal method is to finish the editing, then export using Quicktime conversion. This is the easiest method to get the final movie file I need for use on Vimeo.
About a month ago I created a new user account on my Mac. This is one that I have dedicated to video editing only as I'm working toward starting an event videography business. Anyway, the first of my weekly videos seemed to go OK, but now all of a sudden for the last two I can't get a usable video. The video portion of the movie is fine, but the audio is shot. It's all scratchy/staticy. When I go into FCP all plays fine there.
I exported the video as a movie with no audio, along with the audio file that was imported to FCP to begin with, and dropped them on the hard drive, then went to my own user account. When I tried to open the project I got some error about it being for a newer version of FCP, so I just created a new project, and imported the video movie and the audio clip, and it exported as it always has, perfectly fine.
So, I know something is out of place on the other user account, but what could it be?

I did trash all 4 of the prefs and it still does this. I've never seen the prefs manager before, so I'll give that a shot.
The audio that is used is an AIFF file. I get the file as an MP3 (that's how it's recorded live on the fly) and I use Sound Studio to save it as an AIFF. I have to do some trimming on it each week, and Sound studio is the easiest for what I need. In Final Cut it doesn't show that it needs rendering, and I generally don't, because when I do I've had major problems in the past that I still can't track down. What it will do is basically cut the audio into three sections, then reverse the first two. But just like this, when you go back into the project and play the time line all is as it should be.
Also another bit of an update, I got rid of the audio file from my project and re-imported it, and it worked. For some reason it's fine the first time, but if I go to do it again, it will corrupt it, except it's only corrupt in the project, not the file itself. That's how I ran into this to begin with - I have an intro clip that I always put on, and I had accidentally dropped the decibel slider in the timeline for that clip. Otherwise it was fine. So I went back and brought the slider back to where it should be, and that's when the troubles happened. Ironically the audio problems were not in the part with that clip, only the main video part.

  • FCP crashes when exporting to QT Conversion

I just updated the FCP 7.0.2 and now when I try to export using QT Conversion Final Cut crashes. The crash log says the likely cause is the FLV encoder. Adobe says they fixed this in CS4, but I will running CS3 for some time. Does anyone know of another fix or can I "update" back to 7.0.1? I never had this problem with 7.0.1. Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately Final Cut won't even open up QT Conversion to allow a H.264 export. As soon as I highlight QT Conversion in the drop down menu it pauses for a couple seconds then quits. I believe it is a bug in the 7.0.2 update, but I'll keep searching. In case anyone else has this problem, my work around is to make a FCP QT file and import it into MPEG Streamclip. It works great.

  • Failed to authenticate & Unable to synchronize login time

    Hi,
My OSX clients are bound to OSX Server.
Most clients are 10.8, some are 10.9.
Server is 10.10, recently migrated from 10.6.8.
Most clients can log in to the user accounts in good order.
However I have a couple of clients that cannot log in (they both happen to be 10.9 clients).
The login box just shakes when credentials for any network user are enetered.
When this happens the systme.log on client shows:
Oct 30 09:33:24 imac1252 SecurityAgent[166]: User info context values set for userxyz
    Oct 30 09:33:25 imac1252 authorizationhost[182]: Failed to authenticate user <xyz> (error: 9).
The system.log on 10.10 server shows:
DSUpdateLoginStatus: Unable to synchronize login time for userxyz: 77009
I have checked the time and time zones on server and client and they are identical.
Does anyone have any guidance, please?
    Thanks,
    b.

I spent some hours with Apple Support on this.
Apple Support logged into my server, had me do some testing from different clients with them watching, detroyed & rebuilt OD database, tested with a brand new fresh OD database, uploaded some files for analysis, etc.
    The problem is...
Looking back 8 years or so, my mobile user accunts were created on server 10.6 (or maybe even 10.4 can't remember that far back )
OSX server (back then) did not require or even have have a certiftcate for these accounts.
    Jumping forward to today...
Server 4 on 10.10 requires a certificate for 10.9 clients (and above). But my my OD database (created years ago) does not have a certificate for the accounts to use, and they would not know anything about it even if I created one.
So, support tell me the only option to get things working again is to destroy and rebuild the OD database. I can keep Users, Groups etc, by exporting, but I will need to recreate all passwords.
I will do that in due course.
In the meantime my workaround is to have 10.9 users disconnect from network at the time they enter their login password. They can reconnect as soon as they hit 'return'.

  • Export Using Quicktime Conversion getting too long

Hi everyone ! I work with Final Cut Pro for over a year now. I have the last mac book pro from April 2011 and i just finished a talk show for a guy i work for.
The problem is, i started the export since 2 hours and he tells me that i have to wait 4 hours. It's only 31% !!
I need your help 'cause i have an apointment in 2 hours and i have to give him the show ! When i do the export without the conversion, it takes 15 mins but the frame is not good and there's some problems with the video. I need to do the conversion to make it work right ! I do it before but with shorts video clips, now it's for a show of 18 minutes and it takes to much time.
    Please help me !
Ah, i forgot, the show was shot with 3 Canon 7D so i don't understand why it takes so long...
    Thanks !

    >Why si it necessary to converted to ProRes ?
Because FCP doesn't work with non-FCP codecs well.  It isn't designed to.  It, like Avid, craves that the media be converted to an editing codec that it supports.  H.264 isn't viable in FCP because it is highly compressed.  FCP isn't designed to work with that format natively.
Adobe Premiere CAN work natively with H.264 because it is designed to.  It has presets, it uses graphics cards that enable CUDA and the Mercury Engine to enable more processing power to be thrown at the H.264 files.  If you don't have a graphics cards that enables CUDA and the Mercury Engine...editing H.264 in Premiere Pro is a DOG!
    >Can i do it with Adobe Media Encoder from the CS5 Suite ? It's the only converter that I have !
Uhmmm....you should have Compressor.  It comes with Final Cut Pro...part of the install disk.  Installs by default.
    >I walways use QT Conversion because without, i have some problems with the images, it started with pixels, sometimes it frozes a few seconds but the sound continue to roll and even a green screen come sometimes.
Because you aren't doing things right.  You need to convert the footage to ProRes before you edit to avoid these issues.

  • Export using Quicktime Conversion Save Prompt Freeze

I'm seeing a bug when I export using Quicktime Conversion using Final Cut Pro 7. From the main save prompt window, if I open "options..." and make my export adjustments and return back to the main save window again, it does not initiate a save when I click the save button. Further, it will not let me cancel out either. The save/cancel buttons will click blue for a moment as if they were pushed, but nothing happens - the save prompt window is totally unresponsive. My only course of action is to force quit. (note: the force quit window does NOT report FCP as unresponsive.) This problem does not happen every time, but enough to be a major annoyance. Has anyone had this issue? Thank you.

Your lunch break long wait rules out any "frustrated after a few seconds" reaction and would certainly be long enough for a drive that has dozed off to react.
Some particularly processor intensive formats could conceivably have a short delay before something starts to happen.
Writing to the system drive is not something I would personally do -I have dedicated storage for my entire video workflow. But this would also rule out a sleeping drive. The system is constantly being written and read.
If you are writing particularly large files to the system drive, bear in mind that a good chunk of the "tons" of free space is allocated to "swap" files -data that can't be written into RAM is off loaded to the hard drive. Depending just how large the swap files are and how large your video files are, there could be a delay in reallocation of swap file space to allow the video files to be written. Having less space for swap files can cause the OS to slowdown. Drives will generally become less responsive, the fuller they are.
Note that I am by no means an expert on this, so the percieved slowdown may be less significant than what the paragraph above implies.
Run Disk Utility and make it a regular part of your maintenance routine. Writing and reading the huge amounts of data that are used in video production can cause problems with the directory structure. Better to catch it early and fix it, directory damage is culmulative. You might not notice it until your files are no longer accessible.
How is the system response when you export a project as a self contained movie using current settings (same as your Timeline)? Exporting with QuickTime Compression always recompresses your video -even when writing using the same codec as the Timeline already uses, so it will take longer to process.
Self contained with current settings is the workflow that I always use. The resulting "master" file is brought into Compressor to make the deliverables. This also frees up FCP and lets me continue editing while compression runs in the background.

  • Missing with chapter markers after Export Using QuickTime Conversion

I have my FCE workflow setup as follows:
I create the sequences using relatively large video source files, in Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC).
Then, I use Export -> Using QuickTime Conversion to H.264 Codec, but my chapter markers are lost.
If I use Export -> QuickTime Movie, the chapter markers are preserved, but the codec is still AIC.
I need a compressed file with chapter markers. What am I missing?

One more time: "Where are you looking at the exported file? After making a DVD or somewhere else?"
Can you answer this for me? How are you looking at this material? Off the DVD you've burned? Is that what you're saying? Comparing the QuickTime Movie export to a DVD burned from a PhotoJPEG export? Or are you playing it from the computer to HDMI? If so are you using the QuickTime player? Is the QT player set to high quality playback? Yes, PhotoJPEG (not JPEG Photo) is a very large file especially at full quality. You probably don't need any more than 75% quality. I'd be very surprised if you say you can see the difference between 75% and 100%.
The length of the video is important not the size of the disc. iDVD's compression is fixed by the length of movie and the amount of content that has to be encoded.

  • Export Using QuickTime Conversion To Windows Media (.wmv)

I have Final Cut Pro HD version 4.5 that runs on my G5. I have a problem when I try to export video to Windows Media file (.wmv). After I select Export / Using QuickTime Conversion and than choose Windows Media in Format box, Final Cut does compile a .wmv file. The only problem is that it's only 30 sec. long when the original video that sits on Timeline is 2 mintues long. When I export the same video to Quick Time file, everything works perfectly and the duration of .mov file is the same.
I tried to set in and out points, but it made no difference.
So now I can't make a file that can get played on Windows computer that has only Windows Media player. And .avi file is not an option since I can't get one compressed enought, so it turns out too big. I understand that I can buy some third party software to make .wmv file, but I want to make sure that out of box Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 can't make Windows Media files before spending extra money.

You need to buy the full version of flip-4-mac to encode/save to a wmv. Sounds like you only have the trail/free playback version...
You need either the pro version or studio version:

  • Long login times

    Hi all,
    I have 2 Netware servers: 6 sp5 & 6.5 sp7
The NW client, mostly 4.91 sp4, but some older, are all setup for contextless login. It has been working for at least 2 years now. Recently, our login time has changed from seconds to about 45 seconds. This is happening to every workstation, so I am inclined to think it isn't a workstation setting issue.
Contextless login seems to be working properly. When you type in a username it finds it immediately. The other odd part is that if you go to Advanced then Tree and manually select the tree, it logs in properly.
I have DHCP pushing these options:
    78 - Directory Agent
    79 - Service Scope
    85 - NDS Servers
    86 - NDS Tree Name
Any ideas would be seriously appreciated.

I've got a wireshark packet capture that contains a workstation login, but I'm not getting much from reading it. I don't really feel comfortable posting a packet capture with a login to an open forum though. Can I send it to someone's email directly instead?
It happened quickly, not gradually over time. I'm a one man IT shop, so this has been like this for over a month while I've had to deal with more pressing matters.
It happens every time without fail. You can get around the lag by going to Advanced > Tree >manually select the tree >then login.
No hardware changes. I have to check, but I'm pretty sure it was right around when I installed some patches to both NW servers.
It might have to do with trying to get MS AD to use our Netware DNS servers. I thought I was being intelligent when I named the AD forest the same as our registered domain name. Our Netware 6.5 server has been serving our domain to the world happily for years now.
Exported our internal Primary DNS zone (Our ISP handles our Public DNS).
Forgot to export the In-ADDR.ARPA zone. Silly me.
Put the NW DNS servers as the Windows 2003 Domain Controller DNS servers.
Added the Windows server to the Netware DNS Allow Update.
It immediately did it's job... and hijacked the registered domain name to the Windows server seeing as that was what I had named the forest. Blushing from stupidity :-(
So to immediately get our domain back up, I created a forwarding default webpage pointing to the real web server on our Netware 6.5 box. After a few days, I decided to remove all things AD from our NW DNS and find a different method. So I removed the Windows server from the Allow Update list and manually deleted anything AD in our NW DNS. Finally re-imported the Pre-AD DNS and looked through the In-ADDR.ARPA zone for any wrong entries.

OK so it's before the login script even starts, so that eliminates many
possible candidates. We'll need to see what's happening on the wire in
    that period.
What change or update triggered the problem? Was it OK one day then
suddenly like this the next, or gradually got worse, or what? Any
changes in your network infrastructure around the time it happened? Does
it happen every time on every PC, without fail? Any clues will be helpful.
