Had to reformat

i had some trouble and had to reinstall my system. I was just wondering if anyone knows how to import there website without the iweb file? i have a .mac account and the website but cant get it back into iweb. any help would be great thanks

The only ONE file that you need to backup for iWeb is called "Domain". You can find this file if you go through your hard drive in the following folder pathway.../Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/iWeb/...
Find this file copy it to your external hard drive while you reinstall your system. Once you have reinstalled iWeb, launch it once, then quit. Go to the same folder pathway as above and you will see another Domain file. Replace it with the one you have backed up. Now open iWeb and you should see your sites listed.

I just had to reformat the external hard drive that houses my iPhoto library, then restore it from a backup. Now Time Machine is telling me my backup hard drive suddenly does not have the space to complete a backup. I also noticed when I go in to Time Machine, there are only about 5 backups recorded on the ext. hard drive. There were many more before. Any idea what happened and if I have to buy a new back up hard drive?

    Hallo  Kieth ,
I am not quite ready to restore the full iphoto library , as I have days of work re - imputting titles, descriptions and enhancement . I hope that your suggestion works , as I use my Macbook basically to work with digital photography. Through time , I will need to delete my library to recover more disc space and I would hate to have to spend more time re - imputting titles and descriptions all over again .
Thanks for your interest and advice.

  • I had to reformat my PC and now it wont let me add music to my iphone.

I recently had to reformat my PC since I got a nasty virus. After getting my comp up and running again I went online to download itunes. I installed it without any problems, but when I tried to hook my phone up to it, I found out I can't put any additional songs onto my phone (I can view all pre-existing songs) unless I wanted to wipe the phone clean. There has to be a way to do this without me losing all of my music. Thanks for your help.

Not if you first do a sync and have iTunes make a backup. However, if your only copy of the iTunes data is in the Touch, then you need to first copy the data to a new iTunes Library using third-party software such as Phone To Mac.

  • I had to reformat my desktop pc and lost all my music. Is there any way to transfer the music from the ipod to the pc?

I lost the music on my pc when I had to reformat the disk.  Is there any way to transfer the music from the Ipod to the pc?  I am told that if I try to sync the music that it will erase all the music on my Ipod.

    Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Transfer other music by using a third-party programlike one of those discussed here:

  • I had to reformat my OSX 10.5.8 and i can't restore my emails from my time machine backup from an external hard drive - only the latest (post backup) time machine back ups are available to restore. Please can any help

I had to reformat my OSX 10.5.8 and I can't restore my emails from my time machine backup from an external hard drive - only the latest (post backup) time machine back ups are available to restore. Please can any help? I can find the mail folder in my libraries, but the Restore Button is grayed out

OSX treats the reformatted drive as a different one; it's the same as replacing it, and the old one is no longer connected.
See #E3 in  Time Machine - Troubleshooting to see and restore from the "old" drive.
And, you may not want to restore via the Finder; see the blue box in #15 of  Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.

  • I had to reformat my hard drive on an older Desktop running Windowx XP. The IE browser is not working now. Is there a way I can download Firefox onto a flash drive from my new desktop and install it on my old desktop?

I had to reformat the hard drive on my old desktop. It is runninf Windows XP. I can't get Internet Explorer to work so I can connect to the internet via wireless. Is there a way I can download firefox from my new desktop onto a flas drive and then install Firefox from the flash drive onto my old desktop? If so, please explain the procedure.

Go to a suitable download page eg: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html]
Download firefox, use the save option rather than install.
Save it directly to the flash drive, or to somewhere on your computer and copy/move it the flash drive.
However if IE is not working possibly you have some sort of setup problem so firefox may not work either.

  • Logic pro 9- had to reformat hard drive, can't reinstall on 10.6?

So I've seen a variation of this asked, but no one has explained what to do. I recently had to reformat my corrupted hard drive and install 10.6 (I had 10.5), but when I went to reinstall Logic Pro 9 (with the actual DVD's) it said an Installation error had occurred and stops. I've seen someone say you can get a replacement installation package, but how if I can't contact apple about it? If not, anything else I can do?
    Really need some help!
    Thanks,
    JD

  • Had to reformat my hard drive- PLEASE HELP!

    Hi everyone,
I hope someone can somehow help me. I tried tech support but they didn't have much to offer in the way of iTunes support. I own a video ipod. I manually loaded each of the albums I had stored in my "my music" folder on my laptop into iTunes and then onto my Ipod.
All transfering and syncing has been done on my laptop. I recently had to reformat the hard drive on my laptop. Prior to doing so, I was able to move my music files to my desktop however I do not have Itunes loaded and running on my desktop. I now have "RE" downloaded the iTunes software to my laptop but I'm scared to sync it because I know it's going to "wipe" out my IPOD.
Can someone accurately advise me on how I might go about getting my music files back into my iTunes library without having to make backup cd's of some 200 albums or manually reloading each album. Is there anyway of doing this without wiping my Ipod clean? There's got to be a fairly easy way to do this.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shooey

You should be able to move your iTunes music folder from your desktop (where iTunes is not installed) to your laptop where it is. Set up your iTunes on the laptop to specify where you want your iTunes music folder to be (in advanced preferences), quit itunes, then move your files from the desktop. Start up iTunes and it should all work.
This is how I moved my itunes when I replaced my old G4/733 with my newer G5 2.5DP.
Note: don't discard that backup on your desktop until you make sure everything works OK, including syncing your iPod.

  • After I had to reformat my computer I lost all the songs from my library.

After I had to reformat my hard drive I lost all of the songs from my library. All of the cds that I had loaded to my computer previously were also wiped clean. I had of course put them on my ipod so I was wondering if there was a way I could get all of that music back onto my computer.

Using iTunes your iTunes Music Store songs can be transferred back to computer. For other songs you have to use another program. Many are available online or in some stores.

  • Nano was working perfectly until I had to reformat for windows computer. Now, it does not respond well to touch.

I recently purchased a ipod nano and briefly had it synced with my macbook pro.  I recently sold my macbook pro and had to reformat ipod nano.  Since then, the ipod nano does not respond very well to touch commands and sometimes goes into apps that I did not select.  It is impossible to switch from page one to page two one app screen.
    Thanks,

  • Had to reformat my imac but now can't access time capsule to get my old fil

I had to reformat my imac, running snow leopard. Got it reinstalled. I'm reading my time capsule volume but it has problems connecting to allow me to restore my old settings files, (photos, music etc)
I'm not sure if I'm tackling this correctly. I'm using Migration Assistant, should I be going through Time Machine? I tried both but am having issues. My airport setting are fine. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks for the feedback and the link to the help page.
I had to reformat because my imac was not responding at all. It would open but super slow. In disc utilities I tried reparing disc multiple times, kept getting a message saying the disc was corrupted something about sibling error???, back up all your files, erase and restore.
I've been running snow leopard and have had a time capsule for a while so I erased and spent the next two days trying to reinstall OSX unsuccessfully. Called the apple tech support, tried their idea of reinstalling snow leopard after an erase. It would not install.
Took my computer into the genius bar and they were able to reinstall immediately. We tried a direct ethernet connect to my time capsule at the genius bar but it would not work. It didn't see any time machine volume. The time capsule was flahing yellow. When I hook it to my router it is solid green, gives me a "connecting message" but doesn't open.
anyway so now I bring the imac back home and it won't connect to time machine. Will try from my disc to restore from time machine and will hook up with ethernet again, see if it works.
I feel I'm missing a step when I connect direct with the ethernet but have a flashign yellow light on time capsule. Any ideas on that.
    thanks again

If you backed up the iPod before restoring it then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
Also, if yoo have that backup you can extract the photos by:
Recover iPhone, iPad or iPod photos from backups with Picturescue
If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
