  • "Happy Birthday" calendar event virus?

I have an event called "Happy Birthday" on my actual birthday in September on my iPad calendar. Somehow, it's growing. I know have 25 events on my calendar on the same day and a new one appears each time I check.
It says its from "Contacts" with an email of a bunch of letters and numbers then @virtual.
I can't delete these events. I also don't want to remove this calendar as it's got too much work-related events.
I've also just noticed it's done this on 2011 and 2013 but no other year.
Is this a virus? Can anyone help get this removed?

    Hi guys,
I think I've found a solution. I went to https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect and turned off the contacts birthday calendar from syncing. I then went into settings for my calendars and turned them all off as well as my contacts. I then checked the contacts had been deleted from the device and the calendar was also gone. I then closed both the calendar and contacts apps, and then turned the calendar and contacts back on in the settings app. Duplicates are now gone!
Hope it works for you as we'll. even if you don't show a birthday calendar go ahead and update the I formation at this link and it may still fix the problem. My friend did have the calendar but repeated birthdays were still gone once she updated at this link.

  • Happy Birthday iMac

This month is the 10th birthday of the iMac! Wow, has it been that long since I stood out front of my local Comp-USA waiting for the truck to arrive with the first of the beautiful bondi-blue all-in-ones?
I had been looking for an alternative to Windows for quite a while. At the time, my PC was actually running OS/2 Warp. A wonderful OS but there wasn't much you could do with it aside from the built in IBM Works suite and a pretty good version of Netscape. I was sick to death of Windows 95 and it's bugs.
If I remember, my iMac came with System 7.5 or 8. The difference between Mac OS and Windows was night and day. It actually worked and it worked intuitively. No more hoops to jump thru just to get a file copied or converted. I was hooked from day one.
Since then, I've had a Strawberry iMac, a G3 Graphite SE slot loader, a G5 flat-panel domer, and now an Intel Core 2 Duo. My original Bondi took a lightning hit thru the modem, so I sold it as a kid's computer. The Strawberry gave up just after upgrading it to OS X a few years ago. The Graphite lasted for almost 5 years of constant use before the power board failed. The warranty on the domer just expired but it's still going strong, and I love my Intel iMac.
So Happy Birthday iMac! In the last 10 years, you've established a new standard for computing and every year you keep pushing the bar higher. I believe the next 10 will be even greater.
And here's an ATABOY to Steve Jobs too

    Happy Birthday iMac!
My first was a 1999 Grape iMac DV (the colour has stuck on me even since!) which got me through university, that, my iMac G4 20" and 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme are all going strong and all wonderful.
    cheers

  • Happy Birthday Mac!

Sorry, can't help myself. Mac is like a friend

Did you set some birthday candles around your Mac buddy
& sing some songs of love, such as Happy Birthday to You! ?
Or take it out for a night on the town, or a nice drive to view
the out-of-doors, so it could sleep easier on dreary nights?
I could almost visualize a summer camp out with several
old Macs sitting semi-circle around a night camp fire...
with a rosey glow on their faces, as if laughing or on some
off-brand of moderately ineffectual anti-viral champagne.
We think they think -- but do they really dream?
    Good luck & happy computing!

Hey, I almost missed it.  Photoshop is/was 25 years old on the 19th February 2015.  There's a pretty snazzy account page (that I have not explored yet) and news reports all over the web.  Happy birthday Photoshop and to everyone who makes it such a stand out product.  It's coming up to 11pm on the west coast, so I guess the boss has taken you all out to celebrate!

  • Happy Birthday Macintosh Jan 24, 1984

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/Happy-Birthday-Macintosh-16764.shtml

Hmmm! Mine was a 512K when they first came out! In subsequent transplant surgeries it became a 512e and then a MacPlus. The little guy's power supply went out once, but he still sits in his blue carrying case in a corner, as his 800K floppy drive is the only working one left which'll still read 400K floppies!
I remember the 128K so well, as I'd already had a CP/M computer for seven years by the time the Mac came out. Having dealt with C prompts for awhile, I thought the graphic interface was the best thing since sliced bread! Our then newly opened Macy's -- a great wasteland otherwise -- had a little, and I mean little, room tucked in a corner of the basement filled with 128K Macs as demos. The room was largely vacant and had no sales people servicing it. As it was only a few blocks from my house, I used to go over after dinner and play on the Macs to learn how they worked. As much as I coveted one, my CP/M machine was much more powerful for my needs, and I knew there would be a new model out soon. When the 512's came out, I had one for my desk!

  • How can I add the Happy Birthday widget to my mac?

How can I add the "Happy Birthday" widget to my dashboard?

Open a Finder window and click on the Macintosh HD on the left under Devices. One of the folders showing will be the applications folder; drag it onto the dock to the right of the System Preferences icon (individual apps can go to the left, but folders need to be to the right).
    Hope that helps.
P.S. Don't forget to update your equipment settings/signature.

    frank,
every negative experience is an opportinity to learn.   deleting or moderating these experiences would be turning away the chance to learn.   as long as users follow the participation rules, we allow even the most negative posts to remain.
as you said, forums are inherently negative by nature as users typically come here to solve a problem.   those of us who try to solve the problems are in the minority.   we certainly appreciate users such as yourself who voluntarily return to the forum to help out, especially those who initially came here to solve a problem themselves.
    thank you as well.

  • Why are Happy birthday! events suddenly showing up on my iPad calendar?

My birthday is Tuesday, 10/30 and this morning I noticed that 122 all day events showed up on my iPad calendar for that day.  The following information is contained in the details fields:
    Event Name:  Happy birthday!
    Accepted by:  Contacts Unknown
    Notes:  Happy birthday!
I created a new contact to see what information was published and this is the email address that shows up:
    [email protected]ual
Checked my calendars on the MacBook, the MacPro and my iPhone - this problem is only happening on my iPad.  I cannot delete these events which is very troubling.
Is anyone else having this problem?  Before I call Apple I thought I'd check the community!
    Thanks,
