Has anybody experience with those enclosures?

Hi,
I found 2 interesting enclosures for creating RAID using SATA disks.
But I didn't have any of them in my hand.
So, has anyone tested one or both of them?
The first one:
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Icy%20Dock/MB561S4S/
- seems to be a software RAID
The second:
http://www.thecus.com/products_over.php?cid=1&pid=3
- it's a hardware RAID. Looks very nice.
I wonder how they work with 2 drives inside (the Icy Dock with 2 or 4 drives), what data transfer I can get, etc.
Marek.

Hi Hatter,
thanks for the answer.
But what do you think about the ICY DOCK?
If you only want to use two drives, OWC has a nice
$67 dual drive black metal case.
I don't think that it is fast enough. Check the parameters:
"Maximum Data Transfer Rate: 1.5Gb/s (or 100MB/sec)"
Or FirmTek with a
much better $199 case with 3-speed fan for best
cooling.
Yes. This is fine. Here there is:
"High-performance storage data transfer up to 3.0Gbps (300MB/sec) per drive"
But what about this ICY DOCK? Although I know that it is not the most important part when we are talking about RAID disks, but this enclosure looks really nice. Will it work as good as it looks like?
PS: beware of anyone calling a device "hardware RAID"
when all it does is use an Oxford bridge.
How do you know that there is used an Oxford bridge, and why it work bad (as I suppose)?
Marek.

  • Has anybody experience with "Cisco Anomaly Guard Module"

    Hello,
had anybody experience with "Cisco Anomaly Guard Module" WS-SVC-AGM-1-K9 for Catalyst 6500?
We're looking for some IDS/IPS prevention system which could take 2-3 Gbits of traffic. From the documentation it looks not bad, and we can get them as used parts (6500 + Sup720 + AGM +ADM) quite cheap. The second solution is Arbor with cisco12000 as boader router (10Gbit uplink) is much more expencevie.
Arbor tries of cause sell us their solution as "Cisco Anomaly Guard Module" is ot of sale and doesn't have any new features, but from the Data sheets Cisco AGM is eactly what we need.
Or may be is there another solution which could be comparable to those two?
    Thank you.

    Hello padatta,
AGM/ADM are IDS/IPS systems, one can of couse discuss about the terms, but it won't be productive :).
IDSM2 has not enough performance and it should sit inline, ADM/AGM can change he next hop for the diverted traffic and be out of traffic path during the normal operation.

Has anybody experience with Mac Leopard or Tiger on an AMD Toshiba? I read about some folks installing it on AMD and Intel and wondered how it could feel and work on an Equium. I have A210 17l.
    Thanks for your input.

It seems to be that you are alone with this idea. If you will try it in the future please post a little bit about it.

  • Has anybody experience a lag when swiping through apps?

Has anybody experience when swiping through your apps, the screen theme to freeze or a few seconds and then it responds?

It can happen, first are you closing all the open apps on a daily basis, meaning, double tap the home button, then hold down on one of the apps at the bottom until they jiggle, then tap the X on each app to close. Also reset your phone, hold the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up.

Experience with SAP Reliable Messaging (SAP-RM) from BizTalk?
Has anyone experience with using SAP Reliable Messaging (SAP-RM) between BizTalk and SAP’s Enterprise Services?
SAP’s Enterprise Services can be synchronous request/reply, what SAP calls A2X.  But many of SAP’s Enterprise Services are one-way, asynchronous. When not using SAP’s own integration solution (SAP Process Integration), SAP refers
to the use of either WS-ReliableMessaging (WS-RM) or SAP ReliableMessaging (SAP-RM). With BizTalk not supporting WS-ReliableMessaging (and not its persistent version), SAP-RM is the way to go.

  • Anybody experience with creating timelag function with FOX?

    Dear All,
As can be seen from my former thread Katie announces that financial functions are not moved to IP. And nowadays these aren't available in BW-BPS either.
I'm just wondering if anybody has experience with creating financial unctions like timelag, allocation, IRR, accumulated balances etc in FOX?
And if so, how complicated is this. Any examples would be most appreciated.
    Kind regards, Harjan

  • Has anybody integrated with CO-Sign for SSO / Authentication

    Hi Folks,
Has anybody looked at Co-Sign for SSO in terms of forms / discoverer in the 11g release?
    Gary

    Marvin,
You make me feel better. I thought I might have been the only one who had ever done this. ;-) It's not too bad to clean up.
I am referencing old notes, and do not currently have access to an OID instance to verify, but try this:
In Entry Management, look under the default Oracle Context, under Services, and Ebusiness. You should see an entry for your EBS instance. (For example, the full DN might be: cn=VIS,cn=EBusiness,cn=Services,cn=OracleContext). Remove this record, and you should be set. You may need to remove other links to this record under your custom context. For example, there may also be a DN cn=VIS,cn=EBusiness,cn=Services,cn=OracleContext,dc=your_org,dc=com.
I was initially concerned that there might be a ton of junk to remove from OID related to the EBS instance registration, but I was not able to find any other likely entries, and was able to proceed with re-registration without issues after removing these two entries.
    Hope this helps!
    Regards,
    John P.

  • Is there anyone who has good experience with the E...

I'm a current owner of E72 with a multitude of problems which i'm tired out talking about. Anyway, I'm thinking of upgrading to the E6, because of it's price in my country and also because i'm familiar with nokia phones' symbian platforms. Initially i did not want to buy any nokia products anymore, but I want to give it another go because of the mentioned reasons and also due to my E72 frustrating me every other day. In addition, my few other options are android touchphones and i really dislike full fleged touchphones, not to mention their battery life. My other option is the Blackberry which has no front facing camera which i need making video calls, so I'm really looking at the E6. I've read so many horror stories in this thread that i'm really worried that i'll get a lemon, so I want to read some positive stories or some judicious pros and cons, before taking the plunge! Please help thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have owned my E6 for over 3 months and after the weekends new firmware (025) the phone now is almost perfect.
The audio quality for music is good and voice calls is the best that you can find, even in noizy environments.
Battery endurance is very good now, perhaps 80-100 hours in moderate use.
Also the former problem with backlight is now corrected by Nokia.
After the firmware the phone is very fast, I mean this cincerely. Also it seems that connectivity over 3G or WLAN is 100% perfect now.
The vibration is perhaps a little weak for men, but woman can feel it...I tested it various ways.... Nokia will solve this matter also.
Forgotten things, that is really good is removable battery, hot-swoppable memory card and the the feeling of handling the phone.
Not a single scratch or dust problem after 3 months...
The RAM-memory seems to be enough for everything I am doing.
The graphic and the 1GB ROM-memory certainly makes the Nokia E6 competent.
The qwerty is really amazing and the screen also, after experimenting with font magnifier (using 119%) and the size in the web browsers and of course the phone settings for font size have actually made this E6 excellent. It took me some time to be satisfied with the settings, but I am now more than happy with mine.
As said, the program RemindMe is useful for light indicators for sms/mms, emails and calls. That solve that issue to me and even if Nokia built-in will be better in the next firmware I stil wouldn´t quit the remindMe.
Finally, the camera is also more than good, the lack of autofocus doesn´t disturb me at all. I never take photos of small documents with the camera.
I have to say, just buy it after this latest firmware, and then add those applications that you need for productivity. The applications I use you can see here below.
I uninstalled the F-secure firewall/antivirus that caused some strange behaviors in early august, especially when I connected to a server with the built-in filebrowser (webdav).
PS Mine have never restarted and I can´t remember a hang. DS

  • Anybody experience with increasing barcode size on form?

We are printing an SU Label form with a barcode. The SU Label is a WM sapscript form. I've been trying to size up the barcode as large as possible to get our scanner to read it at least 30 feet. In SE73, my print control is currently set to:
    \e(s4p100h220v55,165b55,165s24704T
This gets us to around 20 feet before it can no longer be scanned. I'm wondering if anybody has insight into anything that can be done to improve the barcode readability at a larger size?
    Thanks, Vlad

The size of a barcode is determined by the printer escape sequence,
which is sent to the printer to switch on the barcode.
    Please go to transaction:
SE73 -> 'Printer Barcodes' -> Select your 'Device Type'
-> You get a list of the barcodes, which the device  type is able
to print. On the right side you see the names of two print
controls: A prefix to switch on the bar code (SBP...) and a
suffix to switch off the bar code (SBS...)
-> Highlight the print control name with the cursor and press the
            'Displ. print control' button.
-> You should now see the printer escape sequence that tells the
            printer to start the barcode.
This sequence selects amongst other things  the type and size of the
    barcode.
To get another barcode size, it is required to change this sequence.
Please copy the device type to another name before changing:
SPAD -> Utilities -> For device types -> Copy device type.
If you use a Jetcaps barcode SIMM, the attached Note 45643 explains the
sequences. Otherwise your printer manual should be able to help you.
Overall width cannot be changed, have to change width of bars and
    spaces.
    Regards.

  • Anybody experience with FCP X and Macbook pro 15inch 2.2?

My old mid 2009 macbook harddrive died on me today, and I'm thinking to upgrade. Sell the old one and buy the new 2011 2.2. The old one was slow in rendering and had lots and lots and lots of spinning beachballs. Was I pushing it too hard? Don't know, but it was horrible. I lost so much time.
Anyway, does anybody have this combo fcp x and the new 15inch macbook pro with the 1gig card and what are your findings??
    Thanks
    Peter

I've got a 2011/2.2/8GB/6750 running FCPX. Once I troubleshooted my external HDs (a Drobo that was nearly full with Time Machine backups was slowing down the entire Firewire bus) things run a lot better. I'm currently storing video on a Promise Pegasus R4 Thunderbolt RAID and the entire system is pretty snappy. The only slowdowns are:
    1. clips, events, and projects on slower hard drives can slow down launching the app and screen refreshes
    2. FCPX is still flakey. It will run great for a whole day and then will refuse to launch the next morning.
    3. exporting through Compressor is slow, particularly when I'm under deadline! 10 minute HD segments can take an hour or so. The Activity Monitor shows the CPUs maxed out, so I suspect that's the bottleneck. I've tried setting up distributed rendering but it doesn't work quite yet.
    4. FCPX can be a RAM hog, so if you're a rabid multi-tasker like me, prepare to beachball or change your wicked ways.
All in all, FCPX runs pretty well on my MBP. If video editing was my main line of business, I'd seriously consider a Mac Pro stuffed with RAM and as many cores as I can find. I might wait for a newer one with Thunderbolt though for a bit of future-proofing.
    Hope this helps...

  • Has anyone experience with Shared Secrets and Time Machine?

I'm using Shared Secrets password manager. I'm trying to get it from my time machine backups on my new (secondhand though) mac.
But... it shows up as an empty version. I'm dreading having lost all my passwords...
    Has anyone good advice please?

According to the information on this page the required Aircard 580 card is NOT compatible with any version of the Mac OS. Which is really odd since the banner across the top of the page proclaims "wireless, mobile web access for your mac". Perhaps they intend for you to buy a compatible phone and use Bluetooth connectivity to allow the phone to act as a modem for your Mac.
The built-in wireless of your Mac does not allow you to connect directly to cellular networks like BlueMobility.
After some more digging... I found this page which supposedly lists the Mac compatible options.

  • Has anybody experience anything like the following: I dropped a cup of tea on my mac pro and hence took it in to Apple for a quote. £924 so I took it home and bought another one. When I took the back of the damaged one a section is missing.

What should I do, even if broken it surely it should come back whole.

go right back with the mac with the missing part and demand it be returned.  They have no right to keep it.  Especially since no repairs were performed.
