Has anyone figured out how to read pdfs online when message says Internet Explorer stopped working?
I can't open any links to a PDF from within a website. Has anyone figured out how to fix problem of not able to read pdfs online? I get message that says I"nternet Explore has stopped working". ANY ideas?

Hi,
It may be that you will need to 'reset' Internet Explorer, but you can certainly check if this issue is being caused by an add-on as follows.
Click the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, open System Tools and click on 'Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)'. See if Internet Explorer now runs correctly.

I'm trying to use speech recognition to input text on my iMac running the latest mountain lion, 10.8.3.
I have sticky keys enabled.
When I try to start speaking by pressing the function key twice nothing happens. I can only get it to work if I disable sticky keys.
The same problem occurs with all the other modifier keys as shortcut, they do not work with sticky keys.
When I try to select a different shortcut, I am unable to select a two key combination, but am limited to one.
If I select the F6 key, or any other single key, I am able to start speech recognition. However the second time that I press the key, it does not stop recognition and process my words. Instead, it restarts the recognition.
Has anyone figured out how to get speech recognition working with sticky keys enabled?
Or a way to get an individual key shortcut to start on the first press and process it on the second?
Or a way to get key combinations to work, as specified by the help:
Dictation On and Off
To use Dictation, click On.
When you’re ready to dictate text, place the insertion point where you want the dictated text to appear and press the Fn (function) key twice. When you see the lighted microphone icon and hear a beep, the microphone is ready for you to speak your text.
Shortcut
By default, you press the Fn (Function) key twice to start dictation. If you like, you can choose a different shortcut from the menu.
To create a shortcut that’s not in the list, choose Customize, and then press the keys you want to use. You can press two or more keys to create your shortcut.I noticed with version 10.8.4 of OS X that I am now able to select F6 to activate, and the return key to complete the speech recognition. This is still different than the description of how these should function that's included in the help, but at least it's an improvement.

Has anyone figured out how to scan to a MacBook Pro with 10.9.4 from HP officejet Pro 8600?
iMovie acts as it does, I suspect, because it's so much safer (and easier) to program.
As iMovie is now structured, each clip has a startFrame and an endFrame. They show the starting point and ending point of that clip in its source file. There's only one of each. Simple.
For us to remove a portion of the middle without splitting the clip in two, iMovie would have to allow each clip to have multiple start/end points. So iMovie would have to "remember" that the clip starts playing at frame 100, stops at frame 120, starts again at frame 150, stops at frame 200, and so on. Very complicated.
The amount of data that would be required to undo a change, for example, could become quite large, and be very, very complicated. Lots of opportunity for errors. Imagine what iMovie would have to "remember" if we could remove the middle, added a title to the clip, remove part of the title, then split the clip and applied a slow motion effect to the second part of the split.
This way is simpler, and not all that inconvenient for users, in my opinion. I prefer simple when it adds to reliability.

In YAMAHA01v96i:
Go to DIO/SETUP select Generic DAW. Go to MIDI settings page and set the desired port (personally I use Number 1), Select the same audio frequency you use in your DAW (I use 44.1KhZ)...at this point You should save a scene in you 01V96i to avoid to repeat all the procedure again.
Open studio manager, go to patch and set the input port from 17 to 32 respectively to USB1-USB16 (this will give you the return from you DAW to the 01v96i
Save again the scene overwriting the old one.
in LOGIC
Click on preferences, select Audio then select 01v96i, then click on control surface and select Mackie design Baby HUI and in the midi session set the same port that you've been setting on the Yamaha 01V96i (Port 1 if you follow this example).
That's more or less it.

Has anyone figured out how to indent when using the iPad keyboard?
I am using iPad for meeting notes, but can't seem to figure out how to tab or indent when typing.
In notes all I can figure out is to put a space or two at the beginning of each line but in pages if you touch the paintbrush at the top right corner and then list, there's an indent button. In notes sometimes I'll use a – to help delineate the indent.

I recently purchased a Samsung LED SmartTV (7500) and am trying to watch TV Shows purchased from iTunes wirelessly. I know the WLAN connection is setup properly for the TV and MBA individually. I thought DLNA was supposed to setup the peer-to-peer link between these two devices. Do I need to download some special software to enable this on the MBA? Has anyone else managed to get this to work?
iTunes does not support DLNA. If your TV works only with a DLNA server, you'll need to find one for Mac that supports wireless connectivity and that can either read your iTunes library files or just access the track files. Otherwise, as Chris suggested, an Apple TV is another option and probably would be a lot easier to set up and use with iTunes.

I know I can do this in powershell, but gosh I don't need a complex powershell script to do what this eventcombmt gui does so easily for quick searches. I just wish I could figure out why text based searches of logs. For example, suppose

I have a question has anyone figured out how to get preview to work
Ok i really like the new preview application in leopard.
I updated to 10.5.1 by manual installation do to people having software update issues with the software update utility.
I was glad the apple released 10.5.1 and i thought they would have fixed preview as well.
Well i was wrong and i am kinda mad right now because adobe decided to make everyone upgrade to cs3 making my cs2 photoshop software worthless so i needed preview to adjust color and contrast but once i adjust color and contrast then select save as it says calculating file size then fails and preview crashes with the following error log

Now my question is does anyone know a work around or another photo editing application i can use in leopard i really dont have 600.00 for a new copy of photoshop and adobe really mad me mad when they tried to get people into cs3 only and i really need a photo editing suite to help with my photography does any one know of a open source alternative besides gimp shop or know of a cheaper editior that i can purchase.Preview and Photoshop are independent programs. Has anyone figured out how to limit the number of emails displayed in the mail app?
There used to be a setting in Mail, Calendar, Contacts that would let you set the number, starting with 50 emails. I can't find this setting in iOS 7.

Mac Mini - has anyone figured out how to increase video RAM?
More and more websites are offering live feeds, particularly Indycars and CART, but the Mac Mini is functionally useless for this application offering only "Stop motion", which is great for Laurel and Hardy or Buster Keaton, but not quite the thing for a rapidly moving sport.
Has a hyper-intelligent mega being out there in Apple-land worked out a software patch to expand the memory capacity of the Graphics Card into normal RAM? After all the standard 64k is listed as "shared" memory, so could it be coaxed to grab a larger slice of the RAM cake?I belive this would be in the same vein of folks who want to manually control the use of Virtual Memory in Mac OS X. In six years, no one's been able to engineer that feat.
My suggestion would be to buy a Mac that already meets your minimum requirements for your software.

Has anyone figured out how to serve iLife updates without an Apple ID?
I have a fresh new Mountain Lion iMac (10.8.3) with Server app installed running only Software Updates. I have successfully connected client computers that are now happily receiving updates for every program except iLife apps from my SUS. I only have 10.8 clients connected to this server. The installed iLife is what was preinstalled from the factory and I would rather not uninstall it to install from a retail disk. My deployed 10.8 clients number is rising quickly and most of these computers will not be assigned an Apple ID. Am I doomed to stare at iLife update notifications until the end of time? (Please read as humor ) Let me know if I have left out any pertinent information about my deployment. Thanks for your time!
From my view, you have two options.
1: Use one machine to get the updates. Then use tools like ARD, JAMF, Deploy Studio, etc, to push the updated apps out to all systems. They are self-contained app bundles. This should work. Be smart and run a preflight script to ensure the apps are not running, then copy the app bundle.
2: Uninstall the OEM, app store linked copies, and install from retail media. This is the route that I've chosen in numerous deployments. This can be done by following these instructions:
Step 1: Remove the installer receipts on the master image
sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.GarageBand_AppStore
sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.GarageBandBasicContent
sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.iMovie_AppStore
sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.iPhoto_AppStore
Step 2: Move the existing copies of iPhoto, GarageBand, iMovie to the Trash
Step 3: Install iLife '11 from the retail disk
Opt to install only the items that you need/want. In the test case, I ran iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand. Please note, the full iLife also includes iWeb and iDVD. These tools are considered discontinued and since many systems now have no optical drives, iDVD is highly marginalized.
Step 4: Run Software Update multiple times until nothing shows up
The drawback here is that if you have units in distribution already, this is not that easy. However, it can easily be scripted to occur in the background. I tend to pre-state the installer to devices and then execute to policies.
Now, this trick will only work until Apple released the next iLife product versions. At which point, we will not have a "retail boxed" copy to fall back on. -
Has anyone figured out how to fix pixellating display issues Mavericks

It sounds like you are getting some graphical anomolies after updating to Mac OS X Mavericks. I recommend these troubleshooting steps from the following article named:

Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
Restart your computer.
Also you can test the issue in Safe Mode, which the article references and see if the issue happens there. If not then a 3rd party login item may be causing an issue with the system:

AdrianI have the same issues. I have NSLogged all delegate and datasource methods and I'm sure my model is in consistent state.
So if I want to add row in my table, I first add an element to my data model, and then call insertRowAtIndexPaths..
It looks like section headers multiply and live their own life. Sometimes the text in the rows becomes red (I do not have any code which could make it red!). And after several minutes of "playing" with insertion/deletion both simulator and iphone crash around something called CALayer.
