Has anyone put the RAR Background Job Spool on a different server?

We are on GRC 5.3 SP 13.
Has anyone put the RAR Background Job Spool File Location (assigned in the Miscellaneous configuration section) on a server different than the one that the GRC Frontend/Java system is on?
I currently have it assigned to a folder on the GRC server, but it is running out of space.  I am having a problem getting the users to delete old reports as they say they need to keep them for internal Audit controls.  They are also resisting downloading the reports (more work for them).  I have been told that we cannot easily increase the file space on the GRC server (would basically have to purchase more storage and rebuild the server).
I was thinking about moving the folder over to our virtual storage area, were file size can be more easily expanded.  I haven't found any documentation that says the folder has to be on the GRC server, but I also haven't seen any examples of where it has been put on a different server.
Has anyone done this, and did you run into any problems?
Thanks.

Hello Bob,
I got your point. Probably there's no recommendation about this, because the recomended practise is to delete or archive the spools as suggested in note : Note 1511027 - Periodic clean up of spool files
If you have a requirement to keep these files "online", I think the option to save them to a network drive is fine. I haven't tried it for this specific scenario. You have to take into account:
- Specific user to connect to FileServer
- Availability of the FileServer. If the FS is down, the RAR job will cancel.
- Performance. I mean, write to a local disk is not the same to write to a network drive. This point is very difficult to measure,   because it depends on a lot of things like network speed, server load, etc.
Maybe someone has already implemented it and gives you more hints.
Cheers,
Diego.

  • What data is stored in the CC Background Job Spool File?

What information is stored in the location referenced in the CC Configuration/Miscellaneous setting of 'Background Job Spool File Location'?  Our test and production versions of this system are configured the same, with both pointing to the same location on their respective servers.  However the test location shows a virsa/bgJobSpool folder in it containing multiple files while our production system shows this location as empty.
Both versions seem to be working OK.  We are running backgrounds jobs in each (risk analysis, management reviews, rule generation, etc.) and seeing results.
We updated to the GRC 5.2 a few months ago and are currently on SP9.  This issue came up during a system audit, so we need to come up with an explanation for the differences.
    Thanks.

I had reviewed that SAP note previously, but it does not seem to help any with our situation.  We are running ad hoc background risk analysis jobs frequently and can always see the results.  Everything seems to work fine from the application side, we just don't see the logs where we thought they should be over on the server.
From the outside, it looks like maybe it is ignoring the configuration setting and is still using the default location for the log.  Does it need to be on the same drive as the application?  I believe our application and the default location are both on our E drive, but we want to put the location for this and the Alert Log on the D drive.
    Thanks.

  • Send/export the background job spool in Excel (in MHTML format) in ECC 6.0.

    Hello All,
I have a requirement to send/export the background job spool in Excel (in MHTML format) in ECC 6.0. Please help.
    Thank you.
    Nalini

    Hi Jigar,
    Thanks for your response.
Anything is like download to desktop or email is fine. But in MHTML format.
We can download the ALV report in MHTML spreadsheet format when we run the program online. But the program is running for long time and going to dump.
So i scheduled it as background job and downloading the output in  .HTML format. But user wants the spool/report output in .MHTML spreadsheet format.
I can write the code. Instead of changing the existing program I would like to know is there any way (from standard SAP) that I can get the background spool in MHTML spreadsheet format.
    Thanks,
    Nalini

  • Format of Date Field in RAR background job history page

    Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to customize the format of the fileds: "last run", "next start" in RAR background job history page?
By default it is in the format yyyy-mm-dd.
I am just wondering my customer's requirement is possible or not?

    Hi,
There is no option to set the date format in the Configuration settings. Check the FM /VIRSA/ZCC_GET_STATREC_DATA which has the CALL FUNCTION 'GET_SYSTEM_TIMEZONE'. RAR will read the time from the system.
You may look at formatting the the date format here.
    Hope this helps!!

Has anyone experienced the iphone 4s camera panorama failure where the panorama stops after taking  only one 'non panoramic shot? I think this happens when you switch direction of the panoramic arrow.

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call?  You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

  • Has anyone addressed the AUR haskell depends/makedepends fiasco?

I've been searching around here, the web, and flyspray, and haven't found anything yet. Has anyone addressed the depends/makedepends fiasco with the Haskell PKGBUILD generated by the arch-haskell script?
    haskell-hdbc-sqlite3 > grep -i depends PKGBUILD
    makedepends=('ghc' 'haskell-cabal' 'haskell-hdbc>=2.1.0' 'haskell-utf8-string' 'sqlite3')
    depends=('ghc' 'haskell-cabal' 'haskell-hdbc>=2.1.0' 'haskell-utf8-string' 'sqlite3')
Do all 1000+ PKGBUILD have this problem? Surely someone's looking into this, right?
    --EDIT--
There are incorrect dependencies. There are 31 packages that depend on haskell-time of which a newer version is in GHC. The licenses are in non-standard places. Etc.
*** I recommend that all packages created by arch-haskell get removed from the AUR. ***

    Hello skottish.
Thanks for the bug report. It would be better directed by reporting a bug to the Arch Haskell team, http://www.haskell.org/mailman/listinfo/arch-haskell
Just some background, the Arch Haskell team is an group of about 12 developers, including 2 Arch core developers, engaged in supporting the Haskell programming langauge on Arch, bring the Haskell community to Arch, and advocating for Arch Linux. The effort is centered around the #archhaskell irc channel, the arch-haskell@ mailing list, archhaskell.wordpress.com and the wiki.
We're aware of the depends/makedepends issue. cabal2arch, the tool that packages Haskell software for Arch, used a seemingly incorrect understanding of the semantics of makdepends and depends. That has been fixed. Packages are being updated incrementally, and the situation as is causes no harm. The current semantics for Haskell packages wrt. dependencies are stated here: http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/arch-h … 00193.html
Regarding haskell-time, the reason packages are using an older version of haskell-time is that Arch Linux supports the Haskell Platform http://hackage.haskell.org/platform/ which specifies which versions of libraries to support on a distro. We follow that. It is a policy decision.
Regarding the licenses, they're placed where the package guide says. http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/arch-h … 00196.html
I'm not sure what you mean by "Etc."  but if you have a bug report in the packaging system, please report it to the mailing list.

  • Accessibility, has anyone coded the option to change site colour?

    Hi guys,
I have a client that needs their site to be coded with accessibility in mind, I have found a work around for changing the font size but has anyone coded the colour options like on this site http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/ ? Is there an accessibility plugin or anything that BC offers?
    Thanks
    David

Hi David, that is just all CSS and javascript.
The zoom thing on sites is an old concept and not needed though. Browsers zoom handle that these days.
Colour wise you just have different CSS files and styles and on change of a dropdown or tick with javascript you change the css file and if you want it saved you drop a cookie reference.
That is something as a webdesigner/developer/company is our job to implement, it is not something BC will offer.

  • Has anyone had the "equals" key in the numeric pad stop working since installing the Boot Camp 3.3 update

Has anyone had the "equals" key in the numeric pad stop working since installing the Boot Camp 3.3 update?

I have been an ardent user of aperture for years now and got used to the great workflow. Ever since version 1 I have been enjoying working with aperture. It is the workflow that kept me from changing.
I got a new MacPro 12 GB ram, 4TB HDD my library mostly indexed files sits on a raided 2TB for maximum of comfort. I did this in an effort to keep me from writing the posts I writing lately. I do not have the time rally to do this but reality is something different.
Today I am working on a job I need to finish quickly and in aperture workflow manner. So I switched to full screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen mode and after pressing 'H' for the HUD my screen started flickering. please look at the video I posted in my flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mawas/4719742585/
Now this is the second time this happened in a short time after I got a new mac and upgraded to 10.6.4! After the screen had jammed up : http://gallery.me.com/masuwa/100103 I needed to hard boot my mac I am getting nervous!

The dual core chip set is designed to run hot... The case, on the other hand, is another story.
For what it is worth, I think all youse guyz are focusing on the wrong issue... the case design. The chips are meant to be quite warm as they do their job, but the case's exhaust goes in FRONT of the LCD screen, just above your function keys.
The keyboard area above the power inverter and airport card is not thermally shielded, so heat goes up, through, and past the keys (QWE ASD area). The bottom of the case plastic has no thermal layering, hence you get hot legs.
Elevating the back of the MacBook helps tremendously.
Knocking back the duocore CPU temperature by an across-the-board 10 - 15 degree hit will still result in a very hot computer.
It is the case.... The case is the problem child.

  • Has anyone used the mackeeper software?

Has anyone used the mackeeper software?

Short answer:  I don't recommend it, but it's not "a scam" or malware, per se.  If you use it, you may have some real performance issues.
Me:  I was an actual MacKeeper user (paid version) for about two years.  What follows is my experience and conclusions.  I am not a paid reviewer, nor tech professional.  I am an educator with about 15 years of experience using Macs.  I am what most people would call a "prosumer," in that I know a good deal about my systerm, but am not a techie, anti-utility software zealot, etc.  I have no affiliation with Zeobit (manufacturer of MacKeeper) nor any of its competitors.
I bought MacKeeper in 2011, and then upgraded last year.  I used it to remove junk files and duplicates, and experimented with the anti-virus software.  I didn't use most of the other features.
The problem:  I am running a 2009 15" Macbook Pro 2.8GHZ Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 512GB HDD.  Over the past year, it has been having major performance issues.  Slowdowns, hangups, applications quitting and more were all becoming the norm.  I deleted duplicate files and ran MacKeeper a few times a month.  I also ran permissions repairs regularly (disk utility).  I looked for the cause of the slowdowns everywhere, from too many user accounts being open, to resource hogs.  I decided that MacKeeper's Anti-Virus software was just taking up too much RAM and CPU, so I disabled it.  I continued experiencing slowdowns and started monitoring my available RAM with a freeware app called Memory Clean.  It often reported that I had less than 500MB available, even with very light usage, application wise.  After "cleaning" memory, I could get my available RAM to about 1.5GB, max.  I struggled with these issues for a year or more, and was about ready to concede defeat and buy a new machine.  I figured my MBP was over four years old, and perhaps running Mountain Lion and normal wear/tear were just too much.
This morning, I noticed that the biggest resource hog on my system was a process called "MacKeeper Helper." The process relaunches even when it is forced to quit.  It was consuming over 100MB of RAM and up to 99 percent of my CPU at times!  I also noticed a process called "anti-virus" that also could not be quit, and was consuming over 100MB of RAM itself.  I started researching how to kill these processes, and was introduced the the Great Online MacKeeper Controversy.  Here is what I learned:
Some in the Mac community have pure hatred for this product (and some hate all like it).
There were numerous user reports of it slowing down systems
Zeobit seemed to be guilty of questionable ethics, particularly in its advertising.
There was no way to stop MacKeeper Helper and Anti-Virus processes from running with deleting the entire application.
I wasn't the only one annoyed by MacKeeper's system pop-ups, trying to sell me something I already bought.
The software got good professional reviews, even from well-respected publications (e.g. MacWorld)
It is often confused with Mac Defender, which WAS malware.  They two are not associated.
The Decision:  After researching ways of fully uninstalling MacKeeper (and considering whether or not I should), I decided to try the uninstall instructions from the manufacturer.  It said that it would remove ALL traces of the application.  I also didn't want to get into too much Terminal work and manually deleting things, as some users suggested doing.  I followed the process (close app, drag to trash, enter password, click "uninstall").  I then ran a permissions repair and restarted.
The Results:  I have been MacKeeper-free for about an hour as I write this. Put simply, my problems appear to be completely solved. MacKeeper Helper and Anti-Virus are gone.  Available RAM is now up to 2.75GB.  I have experienced no slowdowns or app crashes.  Even bootup appeared to be considerably faster.  Launching iPhoto with thousands of images now takes a few seconds instead of minutes.  Everything feels faster.  It's like I have my Mac back!  I was ready to admit defeat and dish out another $2500+ that I didn't have.  I now think that won't be necessary!
What Should Yo Do? You'll find a lot of controversy out there between professional reviews, ethically dubious paid reviews, Zeobit's own defense through public statements, and Mac users themselves.  Some users like it, and swear up and down they are real people.  Others are extremely angry and hate the product with the passion of 1,000 burning suns.   All I can do is tell you my experience and make the following statement:
The bottom line is that I would not install MacKeeper/buy MacKeeper on my Mac.  After investigating my own system's problems (which made iit nearly unusable) and concluding that MacKeeper might be the issue, I uninstalled it. Magically, all my issues went away.  So...I report, you decide.  Best of luck.

  • Has anyone taken the glass off a glossy display?

I'm looking to buy an iMac, but do not care for the glossy screen. I noticed a reference in another thread about someone taking the glass off in a youtube video and watched that.
So, has anyone taken the glass off successfully and is happy with the result?

Well, having over 15 years experience with Apple Computers, the Glossy Screen is the stupidest and most irresponsible idea ever. So what HP, Compaq, Dell and the like decided Gloss was all the craze!...
Apple should know better than to jump on the bandwagon by now being the trend setters they have ALWAYS been. Apple should offer the option the way they do with their Laptops so one can choose if they want glossy or matt. Being a color correction expert, the gloss is just the icing on the doodoo brown cake for the 20" Aluminum iMac TN Displays. Either way you cut it, garbage is garbage and covering it up with something that adds blinding glare is just that... A cover up.
I was one of the first schmucks who bought one of these 20-inchers and it is the sole Apple computer purchase I've regretted from day one. Sure it looks pretty and all and is quite elegant but make no mistake about it... the Aluminum iMacs fall FAR short of Apples mark ranking right down in the gutter with the disaster that was the Quadra series before Mr. Jobs came back to Apple and cleaned house.
If anyone wants to buy mine I'll let it go stacked with all the software & 3 Gigs of Ram for $1,000.00 shipped!
