I have tried much of the same - still no joy.
I also reported it as a bug to Apple although the response page said "we can't reply to messages"
For now I have had to turn off auto syncing and keep plugging and unplugging until the device is recognised correctly - about 1 in 10.
In my email to apple I also listed the contents of the xml file that keeps track of the devices that iTunes has seen:

You will see from the Use Count that these are adjacent connections, ie plugged in as ipad then as iphone. Apart from the device class, everything else is the same.

I have an ipod touch and I am not able to use any money on my accounts because it is telling me the security code is wrong. Can anyone tell me what I can do?

I am not able to purchase any upgrades on my Ipod, music, movies, videos, or anything because it says my security code is invalid. Other times I am able to sign on to my Ipod with my user ID and password to do an update and it says there is a billing problem with a previous purchase. then you can tap continue and view further info, and when I do this it takes me to my account settings page with the info that I originally set up my Ipod with. I no longer have that same credit card and would like to remove it from account and update with a new one, but have not been sucessful in doing this by using my Ipod. Can I do this online somewhere? You must create the account using an Apple device, a Mac (Lion or greater) or an IOS device (IOS5 or greater). Having done that you will be able to sign in from your Windows machine.
FYI, iCal is an application that can display calendars from iCloud (and others) it is not a calendar itself, merely a calendar client. In Windows Outlook is the calendar client.

Hey, just bought an iPhone 3GS off a friend an am looking to sync it to iTunes The version is 4.3.3. Is this normal ?. The device fails to appear in Itunes however. I have checked my USB ports under device manager and there is an 'Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller'. Does this mean all my ports are 2.0? When I connect my device it says ' This device Can perform faster' if connected to a USB port. Need Advice.

Try disabling a/v software and turning off the Firewall then sync.

Read the User Tip that razmee209 linked for you in the post above. If nothing in there works, there May be something on your iPad that is corrupt. Backup the iPad, restore to factory settings, and them restore the backup. If that doesn't fix it, restore as new and download all of your purchased content again.
