Have suddenly lost incoming messages for the past two years

Brought up a message that claimed to be from Verizon that began "in answer to your request..." I made no request. In an effort to find out details, I permitted remote content that Norton had blocked. This only produced an ad for free wi-fi. So I went back to my message list - only to find out that the most recent message was dated 2012. I don't delete many of my messages, so a flock of them are missing. What happened and how can I get them back?

Check if Norton has quarantined your Inbox.
It isn't a good idea to let your antivirus s/w scan your profile folder for exactly this reason. If Norton has messed with your Inbox your missing messages are possibly lost. Do you have a backup?

You should be regularly importing your photos on your device to your computer. That is where all of your photos should be permanently stored. What is on your device is selected when you do a sync to iTunes. Once you select your device, you click on the Photos tab, and select which photos, albums or events you want specifically downloaded to your phone. If they have all been backed up to your computer, then you will be able to select whichever ones you want on your new device.
Contacts would be backed up as a part of the backup process to iTunes. Here is a support article with specific information about what is backed up:

You used the data. Verizon can not see what it was sued for. However your phone can see whats apps used the data. go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle. line the dates up with your cycle. then there will be a bar graph below that extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right. after those are extended below that will be a list of apps, there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

Too much "Signal Faded; Call Was Lost" message for the past two weeks

I am using Verizon Wireless mobile Samsung Alias 2 for a few months. For the past two weeks the amount of choppy call and 'Signal Faded Call Was Lost' issue is ascending alarming proportions.
The *611 VZW customercare does not seem to have a good solution in hand to troubleshoot and/or take a report of the same.

Did you try tech support, Option 3? To call them it is required that you call from another phone.
Is the issue only in one location or all over? If just one small area it could be a tower issue and tech support can walk you through to determine which tower may be the culprit. (If you are able to call in from that area) If they don't, ask them to and get a ticket number.
Also try calling *228 Option 1.
Final option is to have them ship you a refurb as the phone should still be unter warranty. Or you could try at a corporate store also to get a replacement.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

IDVD changes encoding quality in the middle of burning a DVD. This causes the DVD to run out of room for longer projects. This worked fine for the past two years, and in the past few weeks it started having this problem.

Here are details on the problem: I'm running iDVD 7.1.2 on an iMac that uses OS 10.6.8. After about two years of using iDVD to burn both single- and dual-layer disks, I find I can no longer burn dual-layer disks. When I put in a dual-layer disk and try to burn a project, the project size keeps increasing. For instance, I recently tried to burn a project that was just over 4GB and, when I stopped the project part-way through, the project size read as 6.89GB. If I don't stop the project in time, the blue bar that indicates burning status reaches the end (so that all of it is blue) before the time listed has elapsed and the disk ejects but cannot be recognized by the computer or our dvd player. If I then go to the project menu and switch the encoding from Professional Quality to Best Performance and back again, the program "remembers" the actual file size - but, if I try to burn the project again, I have the increasing same problem. If I let the project go until the disk ejects, the project menu will then read some total in the red (i.e., above the size that a dl disk will burn, even though the actual file size is below the limit). I believe (perhaps 90% sure) this began after I tried to encode a movie with subtitles; instead of burning properly, this movie created a data disk with at least one folder that said something about VIDEO_TS, if I recall correctly.

To be a true video DVD the disk must be in the UDF format (Universal Disk Format) and must have a AUDIO_TS folder (empty) and VIDEO_TS folder (where all the elements of the DVD are located).
The content on a DVD is MPG-2 encoded and it is quite possible for the encoded size of your content to exceed the estimated project size - especially if you use lots of transitions and content encoded with CODECS more recent than mpg-2 (which is quite old at this point).
The safest thing to do is to make your 'burn' to a disk image file - then you know everything went fine before you commit to burning a disk, I know the instructions warn about creating a disk image file for dual-layer projects, but I've never had any problems and don't recall hearing anyone here who had problems.

I would just explain that this just started happening, that nothing has changed on the phone, that it is an original iPhone and I wondered if they are implementing a change in coverage with their Edge network in my area.
If you restore your phone, you will be given an option to back up your phone at the beginning of the process (see step 6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414). You will be given the option to restore to that backup at the end of the restore process. Your messages are stored in the backup so restoring to the backup will return the messages to your phone. Be sure to import your photos and videos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) and back up your contacts somewhere before restoring your phone as these sometimesget lost in the restore process.

I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
