have to run windows in safe mode with network to have browserws work correctly. using IE and Firefox. Fist web site comes in correctly next tab just sites waiting for web site Help

If it works in Windows Safe mode then you have a problem with other software, possibly security software or a system driver, that is running on your computer.<br />
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Windows 8.1 safe mode with networking issue

    Hello,
I have a customer who generally logs into windows using a PIN. They are running windows 8.1 and their only account on the system is a microsoft account set up with a gmail address.
I needed to reboot into safe mode with networking to perform some malware removal for them, and upon doing so I realized I wouldn't be able to log in without the password to that microsoft account, as you can't log into safe mode with the 4 digit PIN. I
contacted them, and they were unable to provide me the microsoft account password.
No problem, I will just reset their password at live.com and log in with the new password. We jump through all the hoops to get the password reset, and of course now all we have to do is connect the laptop to the network so it can learn that the password
has changed and we can log in.
First, I try plugging the integrated ethernet adapter into my network. The switch port lights up, so CSMA/CD is fine with the physical connection, and it even blinks a bit like it's doing things. Unfortunately the network icon in the lower left corner of
the login screen stays disconnected. Okay, I'll try the wifi.
I click the icon, the wifi is off, I turn the wifi on and my wireless network pops up. I click the wireless network and hit connect, and it "checks network requirements" for a while like normal, says it's taking longer than normal, and then says
"We can't connect to the Internet right now. Please try again." with a close button.
Upon hitting the close button it brings me back to the network list, but curiously it says under my network name that it's now connected, and the connect button has become a disconnect button. The network icon in the lower left of the login screen is still
showing a red circle with a white X in it, and the password still isn't working.
The first couple of times I did this it asked me for my WPA key, which I entered. The last time I tried it didn't ask me for my key. Thinking I should probably tell it to forget the network so I can type it again, I tried right disconnecting from the network,
right clicking on it and going to forget this network, but right clicking does nothing in the network UI on the login screen.
I then grabbed a USB ethernet adapter and plugged it into my switch, which lit up the same as when I used the onboard one, but the laptop is still acting as though it isn't connected. It's also worth noting that no ethernet connections appear at the top
of the network UI on the login screen as they would if we were logged into windows.
I don't have a password reset disk. I can't format this system. I've successfully reset the password online, but networking isn't working. What should I do?

I solved my problems by using the sethc trick to enable the local administrator account. I then rebooted out of safe mode, logged into the administrator account, connected to the internet, and then switched users using fast user switching to the microsoft
account, which I was then able to log in to using the updated password.

  • Cannot boot into Safe Mode with Networking - Windows 8.1 Update

I'm trying to boot into safe mode with networking. I can successfully boot into Safe Mode, but my Network Access is always disabled.
I've tried msconfig / Click on Restart / Restart Now from the Update and Recovery menu in 'Change PC Settings'. They all eventually get me to the Same boot options menu which says ... F4 for Safe mode, F5 for Safe mode with Networking etc..  I
select the F5 Safe mode with Networking and it re-boots into Safe mode but I have no network access.
I'm connecting to my home ADSL, no proxy required. If I boot normally I have network & internet access, but in 'F5 Safe mode with Networking' my networking is disabled.
    Windows 8.1 Pro x64

I can see that I am actually connected to my router, but the network icon still shows as disconnected.
What about the Network list via the Settings charm (Win-I)?  Last week I was having problems with that one after long sleeps.  Later I realized that although I could see the icon in the Settings charm (as normal) when I clicked on it, it still
showed the same icon as I was expecting; the difference is that it didn't show "Connected"; so, clicking on the icon proved that it was offering a Connect button and clicking that finally got me connected.  Meanwhile the troubleshooters were misleading
at best and destructive at worst, suggesting I power things off, etc.  I don't know if there was a fix for this specific symptom or whether I just tried a different path but yesterday instead of trying the above procedure I tried to see what the Network
troubleshooter associated with IE's "unable to connect" page would do; amazingly it identified the problem precisely.  That connection had somehow acquired a connect manually attribute.  The troubleshooter offered to fix that problem for me
and I accepted.  Since then, no more problem.

Does anyone know, how to disable "Safe Mode With Networking" option from Windows 7 boot menu?

Thank You .This is what I was afraid.
I work  at school and We have one problematic classroom. It's http traffic is blocked by a FSecure's firewall, but students have figured out a way. They boot computers to safe mode with networking and after that
they have access to the Internet! Now We have to change Microsofts's own firewall.

  • How to install Windows Updates in Safe Mode with Networking

On my VISTA Business edition, I was getting BSOD (blue screen) so I booted the system in Safe Mode with Networking. But in this mode when I go to Start Menu-->All Programs-->Windows Updates, nothing happens. Please help.
    Thanks..Nam

    Steps:
1-Open command prompt with admin mode
Or Boot from DVD in command prompt mode.(This is what i experienced, able to show the safe mode menu)
2- Write this command "bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy" and click enter
3- You can now press F8 while Windows 8 starts in order to access Safe Mode and other Advanced Boot options.

  • Tb not responding, even in safe mode with networking enabled?

    duplicate of [/questions/1054504]
    Hi,
I've read many of the questions relating to TB not responding and it appears that it is related to anti virus, however I've restarted windows 7 in safe mode with networking, however TB still not responding. I've also ran TB in safe mode while still in windows safe mode and still not responding. I've uninstalled & re-installed TB all to no avail. I've uninstalled a program I recently installed although it was unrelated but still no change.

  • Is there a difference between any of the Firefox settings in a normal boot as opposed to a boot in safe mode with networking?

I am trying to isolate an issue where I cannot load one particular web page - my local newspaper. The page heading comes up but none of the articles.
In a normal Boot this happens - if I start in Safe Mode with Networking the page is normal and loads correctly.
I was wondering if any part of Firefox is disabled during a Safe Mode boot which could be causing this issue. The website is
    http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/news/local
O/S Vista Home SP2. Firefox 3.6.17. Kaspersky AV but for this exercise has been completely disabled

    Thanks Luis.
The only difference is the subscriptiion price for students and teachers.

  • Firefox crashes when run. Reinstalling, safe mode, and profile all bring up "Firefox has stopped working" before it ever opens a window

I've tried every solution on other posts. I've uninstalled, including profile information, then deleted all Mozilla folders, restarted, then re-installed and I have the exact same issue.
I'm running Vista 64, and the latest Firefox.
I've run various virus scans, and tried uninstalling all Flash stuff.
IE and Chrome both work, but Really slow compared to how fast Firefox ran (when it was working,) so I'd like to have it back.
I get no real error information, but what I do is below...

Hello Simonmmm, any luck if you boot the computer in [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Safe mode with network support ](press F8 on the boot screen) and check firefox again.
(If works in Windows Safe mode then probably you have problem with other software, like security software or maybe a system driver, that is running on your computer).
    thank you

  • I am running Windows XP PRO. Firefox 3.6 islisted in in my computer and I cannot delete it in the control panel using the Add of Delete Function. I have even gon into the safe mode and I still cannot delete it.

I want to intall Mozilla Firefox 4. Will this delete the contents of Firefox 3.6? I was to the point that I was ready to Reboot the Whole system. I called Microsoft and they resolved the Silverstream issue. When in the control panel I click on the delete function all that is does is stay at Blue. It will not delete and it does not give me any message.

    The normal method is simply
    * Help -> Check for Updates
    on Firefox (Window XP)
    * see also [[Updating Firefox]]
You should be able to delete Firefox and remove it, from your Windows XP control panel although that may not be what you intend.
If you have doubts about compatibility stay with Firefox3.6 for now.
Some software extensions will currently have problems with firefox 4 (and that iircc may include some versions of silverlight )
Do NOT use any delete settings (or whatever it is worded) that will loose all your passwords and bookmarks.
BTW the safe mode in relation to Firefox is a totally different concept from Windows safe mode, but you probably have no need to use either of them.
    * see also [[Safe Mode]]
On an ordinary upgrade Firefox will preserve your profile details which include bookmarks any passwords.
You should have no problems in installing Firefox 4. You should be able to install firefox 4, and retain any bookmarks etc that were used in firefox 3.6, but sometimes extensions may be incompatible.

Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or photos.apple.com is not blocked by a firewall, or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps underAdvanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.
