Having issues installing iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows 7 (64 bit).

Issues installing iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows 7 (64 bit). This install clobbered my previous version of iTunes. Error message is "service Apple Mobile Device failed to start". Cannot start the service manually even though I am the administrator of the machine. There is obviously some conflict that was recently introduced by a Windows update or in the Apple installation. I have tried removing iTunes and the AMDS (the Apple mobile device service) and reinstalling with the same error message.
Thanks for any suggestions you can provide!
Marilyn

Hey there Marylin,
It sounds like you are unable to start iTunes due to this error message even after uninstalling the iTunes application and the Apple Mobile device. I would recommend uninstalling not just those 2 applications but iTunes and ALL its associated applications with the following article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • Installed iTunes 10.2.1 for Windows (64-bit), Error 7 Windows 998

    Hello
After updating iTunes 10.2.1 for Windows (64-bit)I am getting the dreaded iTunes was not installed correctly, Please reinstall iTunes. With error 7 (Windows error 998) popups.
Tried already all the known uninstall/install/repair suggestions. Tried runnng as administrator or changing permissions. Tried disabling Bonjour Service.
Until now nothing has repaired it.
Is there a way to fix this? Can it be an Adobe update?
Is there a way to get an older version?

I had the same problem. I tried doing a system restore to a day or 2 before i did the update. The restore was successful but the itunes problem remained. After that I went into the control panel, selected itunes and clicked the repair tab.
It now works fine for me. The only other step I took was to copy my itunes folder into another location in case anything went wrong. Once the repair was complete I simply replaced the new empty itunes folder with my previous one.
Hope this is of some help.

every time i try to install itunes on my laptop for windows  i get the message''key not valid for use in specified state''  any clue?

For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\<User>\RSA (just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again. This folder appears to act as a cache and should be rebuilt automatically as required.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Itunes 12.0.1 for Windows (64-bit) is Unresponsive

I just updated to itunes 12.0.1 for Windows (64-bit)  (Running windows 8)
As soon as I start the front screen is loaded but the program is unresponsive.
In task manager it says it's a 32bit program (not sure why it is advertised as 64bit!?)...
    I tried the following:
1-Removed Itunes, Restarted, Reinstalled it but that didn't work
2-Removed the SyncServices Folder (as suggested in some forums) but that also didn't work
    Any Ideas?

    Hi suntrain,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that iTunes is not responding on launch on your computer running Windows 8. You have already done some great troubleshooting to try and isolate and resolve the situation as well. In this situation I would recommend reading over and working through the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article.

  • Having issues with iTunes 11.1.5 on Windows 8.1

Ever since I've refreshed my windows computer two weeks ago. I am having issues with iTunes 11.1.5. For some reason I can access the iTunes Store, but most of the time when I do something internet related on iTunes, the app is either stuck on checking for downloads or when trying to sign in. I am trying to update all my apps but only a couple out of 30 actually start downloading but they keep getting stuck at "processing file". I have used another computer with Windows 8.1 with the same version of iTunes and its downloading app updates fine.

it works at first then after trying to update a few apps (the third one this time) iTunes again stops working and gives me the 8008 error.
Okay ... let's try seeing if that one is the root cause of the errors.
Try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
Does that calm down the 8008s?

  • I updated to itunes 11, uninstalled it according to directions, and  re-installed itunes 10.7.021 for windows 64bit.  Now Iget the message itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by an earlier version of itunes

I updated my computer to Itune 11, did not like it, and uninstalled it exactly according to directions. I re-installed Itune10.7.021 for Windows 64bit, but now I keep getting the message "The file  itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes.  How can I resolve this problem?

zepel has it, but perhaps some more detail will help.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Unable to install iTunes 11.1.1 for windows 8

I have downloaded the latest iTunes version 11.1.1 for windows 8 but it just won't install the software,I think I will wait for windows 8.1 to solve the problem

The iTunes installer seems to function completely fine until the status bar is full and then nothing happens. It stays that way until you manually cancel the upload. If you attempt to restart the installer it says that it is already in process and won't allow you to restart it. I've tried a couple times and it's always the same. I went to my computer and manualy ended the installer process and was able to restart the install but it paused at the same point.

  • Error downloading iTunes 11.1.2 for Windows (64-bit)

I'm trying to download the lastest version of iTunes 11.1.2 (64 bit) but it keeps giving me an error.
    Error message show:
Error writing to file: C:\Programme Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile DeviceSupport
    \SyncServices\Schemas\Calendars.synchschema\Contents\Resources\pt_PT.lproj\Schem a.strings.
Verify that you have access to that directory.
I've searched online for a fix cure to this problem and the best thing i found from a Apple Discussion was changing the file name BUT it doesnt allow me to do this.
I've also tried to delete the file but i'm unable to do this too.
I read on one of the Apple dicussions that it might be a good idea to uninstall iTunes completely and reinstall it.
I'm worried I will lose all my information.
I read that it will be easy to recover music files which i'm not really worried about that.
I'm worried about losing pictures, videos, text messages and other data.
I've done a disk scan and i'm getting no errors are being shown
I can back up my current iPhone 4s but I want to start using my New iPhone 5s but am unable to until I install iTunes 11.1.2
    PLEASE HELP.
Thank you for your help in advance.

The newest iTunes won't work unless iTunes and supporting applications are completely uninstalled first.
After you have uninstalled everything Apple tells you to (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) using the uninstall feature in the Control Panel,  these are the folders you need to manually delete the contents of:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support (if it exists)
You have to delete the contents of the Mobile Device Support folders before you can delete the Mobile Device Support folders or you will get an error message.
If you don't have the Mobile Device Support folder in either location, reboot and try to install the software.  This has worked for lots of people so far.  I hope it works for you, too.
