Having problems opening AI files in solidworks

Having problems opening an AI file in solid works 2014.  The illustrator version I have is CS6 64 bit. and I am using windows 7.  When I import the file into a sketch, Illustrator opens up and nothing happens.  I am able to open up dxf, tif, etc.  I read on another forum someone had the creative suite that contained 64 and 32 bit versions of the program. and it was working .   Any ideas on what to do?   Thanks for your help!

By "translate" do you mean color shifts?  What is it about the prints that are incorrect?  Do you have document color mode info?  What are the Color Settings in the Taiwan Illustrator application vs. the U.S.?

  • CS3 Extended having problems opening image files.

I had a CS3 Master Collection from The Art Institute forced us to buy that I had never opened because Photoshop 7 worked fine & I didn't need all the other crap that came with CS3 in the Master Collection. So I had been using Photoshop 7 for years & years, but when I got a new computer, Photoshop 7 didn't work anymore. If you can't tell me what's wrong with CS3, maybe you can tell me how to get my old 7 working on 64 bit windows?
Getting this stuff out of the way:
*Brand new computer, Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit.
*Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection, installed about 3 months ago.
*CS3 Extended was working just fine for 1 or 2 months with no problems.
*Problem: CS3 stops responding or hangs exsessively when opening image files.
    *Already tried alt/ctrl/shift reset.
    *Already deleted all the printers.
*Already tried the tilde in front of the TWAIN.
*This Master Suite takes like 3 hours to install, so reinstalling is something I'd rather avoid.
    *Yes, it's updated.
    *Yes, the licence was renewed.

    Terabyte drive. 80% free space.
Yeah, I reinstalled. Can't believe I had to go through 4 discs to reinstall one program for the suite.
Reinstalling windows is overkill when" error check," & "SFC /scannow," & "boot repair" are sufficient.
Found out that it WILL work if you don't have a browser window open, but I like to listen to stuff on the net when using photoshop. I dunno why the browser makes photoshop refuse to open or create new images, but it would be helpful to know.
Also, despite not having a printer, the error log seems to indicate that it's part of the problem.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I did defrag after reinstalling. I know someone will bring it up if I don't.

  • Having problems opening IDML file in CS5

    Hi Everyone,
    Can someone offer some assistance?
My colleague is on CS5.5 and i'm on CS5. She created an IDML file of a document we're working on and i've tried to open it. However when opening it, it freezes at the same point everytime.(when importing links) The only way i can get out of InDesign is through Task Manager. Any help would be appreciated.
    Chris.

First thing you need to do is empty the InDesign Recovery folder in case your forced program termination has left you with corrupt data that ID is trying to recover each time it starts up. By default the Recovery folder is in the same directory as your InDesign SavedData file, but the location is changeable in the application preferences. If you haven't deliberatley moved it, you'll find the location information to find it in the post about resetting prefs here: Replace Your Preferences
Now on to whether the file will open. It sounds like ID is looking for links in a location that is inaccessible. Open ID without attempting to open a file and Edit > Preferences...  Go to the File Handling tab and uncheck the boxes to check and relink when opening a file, then try to open the .idml. I would wait up to 15 or 20 minutes before presuming the file is damaged -- I've seen strange things where users have done stuff like embedded hundreds of images, and it ust takes a long time to parse the file sometimes.
If it still won't open, it's most likely damaged. Ask your colleague to send it to you again, but to zip it first for protection in transit.

  • Having problem opening my files and pictures with word 2013

I  can not open my files and pictuers with office word 2013 ,everything goes to adobe and it would not allowed me to convert it to  office word 2013
You can reach on  [email protected] or [email protected]
    thanks

    Gizmo,
Select one of these files in the Finder, then press Apple-I to open a Getinfo window for it. Use the "Open With..." pull-down menu to choose Preview as the default application, then click the "Apply to All" button.
If Preview is already set as the default application, try choosing another one, clicking the "Apply to All" button, then re-do the whole thing using Preview.

  • Having problems openning PDF files. They open blank?

    PDF files open blank.

Think about it: You sign a document and then someone adds some pages to it
and pretends you signed those as well. You wouldn't what that to happen,
would you? Well, with digital signatures it can be prevented.

  • Having problem opening .docx files

I was mailed a .docx file of lables for my work.  I need to print these off, but when I open in Pages, the format is all messed up.
Any suggestions on how to get these to import into pages so I do not have to print from a windows machine?
    Thanks,
    Mark

I have and would suggest you install LibreOffice v4.0 for those moments like this when you really need to open a .docx file, and Pages is incooperative. It will also handle Visio documents all the way back to 1992 and MS Publisher documents back to the beginning as well. Free.

  • Problem opening .dmg files?

    Hi all,
I've recently been having problems opening .dmg files -- specifically for a recent Adobe update, and the latest VLC update.
Checking with their support, it seems that it's not a problem that others are experiencing.
    I get the following message:
I'm on the 2007 27" iMac, with my OS (SL) being up to date.
    Any suggestions?
    Thx!

    Could be either.
Check out your own stuff as far as you can. Your router diagnostics page should be able to tell you what sort of download speed you're getting, or you can use SpeedTest http://speedtest.net/
Check your phone line from the main terminal to the router for loose connections, kinks that may be hiding broken wires and such. Check or replace the line filter that seperates the modem line from the phone.
Then get your ISP to check out their end, and the phone company likewise.
Hope you can find the source.

  • I'm having a problem opening my files -..

I'm having a problem opening my files …..for example if i want to download something off the internet and run it after it always opens in Textedit which is annoying…..other programs open fine which are dmg but the exe files won't run….i need help

If you are in fact running Mac OS 9 or earlier, which is from 2001 or earlier, .dmg files are disk image files like the .smi files used under Mac OS 9, but they are only Mac OS X compatible.   They are frequently used to store Mac OS X only installer disk image files.  .exe files are are Windows and MS-DOS executable files which can only run with Windows or DOS virtualization:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2741
Most Mac OS 9 programs you'll be able to download either have a .sea, .sit, or .hqx suffix in their file name and are able to be opened with the old Mac OS 9 copy of Stuffit Expander.
If you are using another operating system, please go to Apple menu -> About this Mac and tell us what you are running.  You posted to the Mac OS 9 forum, hence my response.    If there is an X in the name, you posted to the wrong forum, and I'll have this post redirected and try to answer if I have time.

  • FIx for Problems opening PDF files

Forget about downloading a new version of Adobe Reader. If you are having problems opening a PDF file all you have to do is right click on the file and Save As (someplace you can go back to such as Desktop)Then go to the desk top (Windows Key + D) and open the file. I hope this helps a lot of people.

    Good evening,
Thank you for your prompt response.
    BACKGROUND:
I have been sending files to this customer for a couple of years. He says he's not doing anything different. I am not doing anything different either. He gets the same response on two different computers. He has no problems with files from anyone else. None of my other clients have this problem. I can open the same files if I send them to a different computer. I even tried zipping the file....no luck. I do send the files to him and myself in the same e-mail....so I would think if it was damaged...it would be damaged on my end as well?
    INFO
Windows XP (both of us). I am printing to pdf from InDesign CS3. ( I did try exporting...same results)
He has Acrobat Reader 9. something. I have Acrobat Pro 9.
He is opening his e-mail, then clicking attachment, then clicking "open".
He also tried "save" and still same results.
    RESULTS
He gets an error message to the effect that "the file is damaged".
On the zip file he gets error message "file is corrupted or damaged"
Any advice will be appreciated. We have only had this problem in the past couple of months.
    Thank you,
    MamaMille
