Having Trouble Connecting To Xbox Live using my router and wireless adapter.

Okay, so this is kinda long but I'll try and speed through. Recently I moved from my old place to a newer place (larger) and before, my old spot worked perfectly, no troubles. Now, eversince i got my internet cable service re-hooked up I've had problems. My internet is fine, that's not the problem. It's my xbox live for my 360. My cable guy pretty much set up my living room with the main router and not my studio office which I keep my 360 in. Instead he told me it would be much easier to just go out and buy a wireless adapter for my PC to recieve the signal from my living room off the main family computer. Well, went out and bought a $80.00 wireless adapter top of the line and it works perfectly, I get the internet really fast. Problem is, my 360 will not connect now. It always says DNS failed. Well here's the problem. I have a Linksys router in my studio office that sits on top of my PC that i have connected to the ethernet of my PC, then in the 2nd or 1st port i have my 360ethernet wire connected to my xbox360. Still it says DNS failed. Shouldn't my router be getting the signal from my Wireless adapter that it's receiving from the living room? It's connected through the same computer yet it doesnt connect. It finds my I address, and it finds the network adapter yet it always fails my DNS. I've tried evern switching the xbox360 ethernet to the main ethernet port on my pc and that just makes me fail the IP address test. I need help guys. My wireless adapter for the pc is a Belkin but my router is a linksys and not sure if the 360 just doesnt recognize it or not. Is there settings I'm missing or something? Please help!!!
The Burninator...

On your 360 if u getting an error msg DNS failed, you can login to your router setup page and go to status tab, not the Static DNS1 and DNS2 numbers and u can give a static dns to your 360. its will resolve ur issue.

  • Having trouble connecting column to column using niSwitch on a PXI 2530

Having trouble connecting column to column using niSwitch vi on a PXI 2530 matrix module.  I have configured my switch using Switch Executive, have identified aliases, and verified routes and route groups.  When I use LabVIEW to connect column to column I get an error reading "cannot find connection between c0 and c1".  c0 and c1 are example columns I want to connect.  Any help is appreciated.

You can find NISE VIs in the function pallete in LV if you have installed LabVIEW support when you installed NISE (this is selected by default in the installer if you had LV installed before installing NISE).
Also, choose between niSwitch and NISE based on your need - if all you ever do is connect two channels in your application, then configuring a NISE virtual device is probably an overkill (and so is using a switch in this case:-) . However, if you are going to manage multiple routes, then using NISE configuration will let you create named routes and route groups, which you can then invoke (connect/disconnect) in your application and have the configuration part managed outside your application. The code would then concentrate solely on establishing a necessary connection(s) via connecting a route or a route group, while if you were to use niSwitch for this purpose, you would have to keep the logic of connecting inside your application, together with the list of channels that need to be connected.
Start with using NISE, and see if you like it.

  • Connecting to Xbox Live using a Macbook Air?

Okay, so i've had my Macbook Air about a month now and I wanted to use it to connect to xbox live just like I did when I had windows. I bought one of the adapters as the macbook air doesn't have a ethernet port and I have tried a lot of the tutorials and walkthroughs that other people have posted but they all seem to be froma few years ago and don't work for me. If there is anyone that could give me some help I would really appreciate it.
I am also using OS X Mavericks 10.9.2.

    Hello BURL3YY,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of steps and helpful advice concerning connection sharing:

  • Trying to connect to xbox live using my home network, I need help.

I have a xbox 360 that I want to connect to xbox live with, using my home network. Every time I try to connect to xbox live the only part that fails is the connecting to xbox live part. This is how my network is set up. I have Cox Cable as my ISP, a Linksys WCG200 gateway(v2), and WRT54GS(v7). The cable wire is connected to the WCG200 gateway, then an Ethernet cable connects the gateway to the WRT54GS router, and finally an Ethernet cable connects the router to my xbox 360. I have contacted Cox, Linksys, and Microsoft about the situation and they all say the problem is the version of the router. Someone told me that I may just need to change the firmware, but I don't know how to do that. If anyone could tell me what the problem is and hopefully how to fix it, it would be much appreciated.

u might to open port numbers 88 and 234 on your router
    here's how to open ports
1: open IE and on the address bar, type in 192.168.1.1 and hit enter
USERNAME: ( leave it blank )
PASSWORD: admin ( all in lowercases )
2: click on the tab " applications and gaming "  then click on the SUBTAB port triggering.
3: you can just name the application like, box or whatever and fill in 88 for each of the boxes in the first line
4: same goes to application number 2 but you have to put 2304 for each of the boxes and pls do not forget to enable it, then save settings
5: Teset the xbox if it's now working.
6: if still not working, go to the SECURITY tab and uncheck the bock that says, " block anonymous internet requests and save settings.
7: teset xboox agan and if it still won't work
8: go to the SET UP tab and look for MTU.
9: set it to manual and lower down the size by 10.( by default, it's 1500. )→ save settings.
              Hope it will help. goodluck!

  • ANYONE trying to connect to Xbox Live w/ GT704WGB PLEASE READ!!!!

I have been having issues connecting to xbox live all week. Just got new phone/interent service set up monday(2-22-10) Could not connect to Xbox live, wired or wireless, but had not problem connecting wirelessly w/ laptop. the xbox first said NAT set to moderate and to disable UPnP, after that was fixed it said MTU insufficient and had to be set to 1364 or higher(let me save you the trouble of looking its already set to 1492 by default)
Contacted Verizon about this issue several times, along w/ intermittent calls to xbox tech support and even actiontec, until verizon finally got me to buy the premium tech support. Take my advice SAVE your money!!!! They did not fix my problem whatsoever. Actiontec finally told me that it was my equipment, so I contacted Verizon and after fighting w/ TS agents then finally after 2 hrs got what I wanted by talking to supervisor and she had them send me a new gateway. but after I got the new gateway, I set it up and had the same issue (so I guess it was not the equipment afterall).
I did everystep the tech support people had done in the days past and still no connection. If you have had this trouble as well, let me save you the headache of hours on the phone w/ tech support people who are dumber than dirt(i spent a total of over 10hrs in 3 days on phone w/ various TS agents).
If your actiontec gateway has been messed w/ in anyform or fashion, and connects wireless (or wired) just fine to other devices(PC Wii etc) w/o any modification to gateway, try this:
RESET the gateway to factory settings(press the little red button on the back of the gateway w/ a pen or small object.
after all the lights have come back on, go to the gateway site to modify it (enter 192.168.1.1    then hit enter) username is admin and password is password, by default.
Go to Security, click on DMZ Hosting, click" on" and make sure it is for Xbox 360 not for your PC under DMZ Host PC Name
Run a "Test live connection"? on xbox360 and it should connect to Xbox Live

So glad to hear that I could help. No one should have to deal with all the stress and frustration that I had to endure just to get their xbox to connect. Its so incredibly frustrating to find out at the end that It is such an easy fix.

  • Can't connect to xbox live

I properly installed my WRT54G wireless router and have my internet working fine on my computer. All the proper lights are working on the router as well.  I am having difficulty connecting to xbox live.  I am using the xbox wireless adapter also.  My xbox recognizes the network and has 4 green bars so the connection is good.  It is set up to infrastructure, and the security and SSID are correct.  When i try to test my connection, it says "Wireless Network Not Connected".  Apparently my xbox notices the network but I cant get them connected.  Someone please help, I greatly appreciate it.  Merry Christmas!

I just did the exact same thing and got the same message. When I did the test the first time, under the WPA key, I typed in Personal. When I ran the test, I got the same message as you. then I typed in the Encryption Key letters and numbers instead(it's a 22 digit code) of Personal, and the test ran fine until I got down to X Box Live-it said FAILED. This is now where I am stuck.

  • Updated instructions for connecting to Xbox Live

    Hi everyone,
Like many others, I can't seem to get my Xbox Live to connect consistently through the Airport Extreme. There is a ton of lag. I have been working on this for about a week and there have been some great posts related to this issue. However, all of the instructions and Youtube videos I have found aren't using the current OS, so I just can't seem to make it work.
Can someone write out the detailed instructions for connecting to Xbox Live using Airport Utility 6.1? Or, if there is a post somewhere, I would appreciate it if someone can point me to it.
    Thanks!
    Patrick

    Hi there,
You might need to forward/open ports on your router first so that your xbox's connection will work very well.
In this link, Click Here, you can see an example on how to forward ports.
But in your case, forward/open ports for your xbox's connection.
Under the Port Range Forwarding page, enter the following:
    > Application=xbox1 Start Port=2869   End Port=2869   Protocol=TCP      IP Address=(IP of the xbox)  Enabled = Checked
    > Application=xbox2 Start Port=10280   End Port=10284   Protocol=UDP      IP Address=(IP of the xbox)  Enabled = Checked
    > Application=xbox3 Start Port=1900   End Port=1900   Protocol=UDP      IP Address=(IP of the xbox)  Enabled = Checked
    > Application=xbox4 Start Port=10243   End Port=10243   Protocol=UDP      IP Address=(IP of the xbox)  Enabled = Checked
     > Application=xbox5 Start Port=88   End Port=88   Protocol=Both
IP Address=(IP of the xbox)  Enabled = Checked
    > Application=xbox6 Start Port=3074   End Port=3074   Protocol=Both
IP Address=(IP of the xbox)  Enabled = Checked
    Good luck!

  • I am having trouble connecting to my in-home internet via wireless router. It says it is connected, but when I try to open email, no connection is found. This also occurs for Safari and Facebook. I am connected by Charter Cable.

I am having trouble connecting to my in-home internet via my wireless router. The IPad says I'm connected to the router, but I am unable to receive email, Facebook and Safari. I run through Charter Cable.  This only occurs on my IPad. My desktop works fine.

Although it may ultimately be necessary to perform a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Extreme and start over with a new configution, we can first try to see if things will work with the existing settings on the device.
Push the reset button (if present) on the cable modem
Power off the modem by pulling the power cable
Remove the internal battery from the modem (if easily accessible)
Power off the AirPort Extreme and every other device on the network....order is not important
Wait at least 20 minutes....longer is better
Re-install the battery in the modem if it was removed previously
Make sure that the Ethernet cable from the modem is connected to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the AirPort Extreme
Power up the modem and let it run 4-5 minutes buy itself
Power up the AirPort Extreme and let it run 4-5 minutes
Then power up each other network device one at a time about a minute apart
Check for a good Internet connection on the network with all devices
If still no luck, you will need to perfom a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Extreme as follows:
Pull the power plug from the back of the AirPort Extreme
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it another 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the AirPort Extreme
Release the reset button and allow 25-30 seconds for the AirPort Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Then open AirPort Utility end reconfigure the AirPort Express again.

  • My Droid DNA is having trouble connecting to 4G.

My Droid DNA is having trouble connecting to 4G. I've removed and replaced the sim card, turned it off and back on again, and even checked the LTE/CDMA settings. I've put it on global and then put it back on lte/cdma then restarted. I can tell it wants to connect. At the top it states it is connected, but then it doesn't load any web pages. It just sits there in the loading state. And when it's trying to connect to 4G it doesn't allow me to send any text messages. Oh and I've also got a new sim card. Still, nothing. This has been happening ever since I had my screen replaced. But if it were internal with the hardware, it would just remain with 3G and not even try 4G. Had this happened to anyone else? If so, were you able to fix it? And if you could, how? Trying really hard to avoid a factory reset here! Any information would be helpful! Thanks!

I'm sorry to learn of the connectivity issues you are experiencing with your phone yamahiney16! It sounds like you have done all basic troubleshooting and the only thing missing is a hard reset http://bit.ly/WOhhsK I would normally recommend doing a hard reset after all basic troubleshooting steps have been performed, however, I'm not sure this will work in your case as something could be damaged inside due to the screen replacement and this also voids the manufacturer warranty. Try the hard reset and if the issue continues, I recommend exploring replacement options. Call #UPG to check your upgrade eligibility.

  • Im having trouble connecting my macbookpro to the tv. im using a mini display port to hdmi adapter, when i switch tv/video to hdmi on the tv nothing pops up, and i dont have the arrangement tap on the display settings, please help!

im having trouble connecting my macbookpro to the tv. im using a mini display port to hdmi adapter, when i switch tv/video to hdmi on the tv nothing pops up, and i dont have the arrangement tap on the display settings, please help!

I've found that the order of operations, so-to-speak, can be important when hooking up mini display port to HDMI.  I have the most success with the following operations in this order:
    1)  Plug HDMI cable into mini displayport adapter (the cable should not be plugged into either the TV or the computer at this point)
    2)  Plug the mini displayport end of your new super-cable to the computer.
    3)  Plug the HDMI end into your TV.
    4)  Switch inputs on your TV to the proper input.
    5)  If still nothing on the TV, try a different HDMI port on your TV.
    Hopefully this helps!  Good luck.

I'm having trouble configuring my iMac to accept a connection with my Telstra Elite mobile broadband Wifi router.
The iMac's Wifi is turned on and the elite router is selected in the Wifi list with a tick.
The router is turned on, and connected to the internet.
I'm able to surf the net and collect emails using my MacBook Pro ( what I'm using now) and my iPad with no hassles by connecting them to the Telstra Elite Wifi router. But I'm unable as yet to get a connection using the iMac.
