Having trouble installing iTunes.. Try this =)

I have been having problems downloading the new iTunes for the past few days and I just found a solution on my own. I am using Firefox as my browser but I am sure it should work for others as well. I clicked on the iTunes tab itself at the top, then went to the bottom of the page and clicked on "browse iTunes store." It then brings you to a page where it says already have itunes or download now. Click download, when you come to the next page and have Windows 7 choose the 64-bit option highlighted in blue. This will open a new page and click download. Wait a minute for it to download to your browser and then continue from there to install to your computer.. Really hopes this helps you and let me know if it does =)

thanks but it didnt work for me. Its the strangest thing. im on a pc win7 64bit. I have restarted.. downloaded from itunes and the website. it goes through the upgrade.. but all of a sudden "rolls back" and gives me an error. But there is no code to the error or why it wont update. I have had the same problem probably for 3 months.

I had the same issue which is now solved. For your information, the following procedure was successful:
Check permissions within the Installer folder. To do this, follow these steps.
    1. Click on Start and in the Start Search bar > type in > c: /windows/installer.
    2. Right click on c: /windows/installer at the top under programs and click properties.
    3. Click on the security tab > Verify if System and Administrator account has Full access permissions.
Note : I ran into problem with locating the C:\windows\installer directory. For some reason Windows Explorer wouldn't show it even though I don't have it hidden. I ended up using the ExplorerXP application to locate the directory. ExplorerXP is available at http://www.explorerxp.com/

  • Hello i am having trouble installing itunes 10.5 on my laptop i have windows vista. it says error 7 windows error 998. i now have no itunes. i have tried to uninstall itunes but it still wont work and keep coming up with that message. please help!

    hello
i am having major trouble installing itunes. i had itunes working fine and i went to update it as it told me there was an update which i thought i did. i went on my laptop the next day and it said "itunes was not installed correctly error 7 windows error 998"
i read a few articles on here but i am having no joy. i uninstalled itunes and reinstalled and that did not work. i also unistalled some other apple things cant remember the names sorry!
i am not a whiz on a computer so really need some help please!!

Installing, and uninstalling, applications never touches or removes the data.
Clean out and uninstall all the apple programs and software thru Programs and manually.
Might want to use Revo and CCleaner
I always use manual standalone installers (and keep a couple backup versions)
itunes 10.5 may affect iTunes media playlists, not sure, depends on what you have.
A search of these forums will show some threads.
I'd clean up vista, you need SP2 or later, and specific error message?
I wonder as you arenot the first with a dell if maybe the OS or included software.
Security programs like Norton and older versions of Kaspersky have been implicated.
Also settings in IE that affect pop-ups and plug-ins.

those symptoms can sometimes be caused by pop-blockers or web acceleration software.
if you switch off all your pop-up blockers and/or accelerators, does the download start for you?

it wont let me install itunes! i click run then install and it runs but at the end it always says error!

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 8007054F, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)

  • Im having trouble installing itunes

I am able to download the .exe file to install it gets to the point of installing itunes and comes up with this error message-
"There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. contact your support personnel or package vendor."

"There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • I'm having trouble installing itunes on my desktop computer

Can anyone tell me how to install Itunes on my desktop computer?  I was having problems with it, I uninstalled it.  Now I can't reinstall it.

    Many thanks.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
