HD Monitor Query

I am considering setting up a FCP Hi-Def facilty for 4:4:4 Uncompressed HD editing. I'm expecting most of my work to be for film and am not intending to offer grading as an option (a finishing facility down the road would do that).
With this in mind, how important is a monitor? At the moment I'm thinking of running the suite with a dual-display set-up plus a 50" Plasma as an external monitor. I've been told I should invest in a Broadcast HD monitor nonetheless but they seem a bit expensive (comparitive to the rest of the suite) and I'm none too sure that it would be necessary.
Is it just one of those things that people would expect when they hire out a HD suite, or would it be extraneous to my purposes? I'd appreciate any thoughts on the subject (especially from anyone whose been in a similar situation).

my favorite high def monitors right now are made by ikegami. lcd and plasma monitors, although sexy, are terrible for anything beyond a client presentation monitor.
if you're gearing up to work with 4:4:4 video, it's expensive and 5k for a 14 inch monitor is not expensive relatively speaking. i was in a digital intermediate suite not long ago looking at a 16mm film that had been transferred to D5on a 32 inch sony bvm monitor. very, very nice but with a hefty price tag.
Don't skimp when it comes to monitoring. also, get your crt while you can, panasonic and sony have ceased production (with the exception of the bvm line) and jvc and reduced it's amount of product as well. ikegami seems to be the only manufacturer with a full line of crts anymore.

  • How to monitor query usage / query activity in the system?

    I am using 0TCT_MC01 to report the number of times the query was executed and by which user.
    According to SAP Documentation,
    The Technical Content for BI Statistics does not provide any standard queries for doing this. But you can easily create your
    monitoring query based on the InfoProvider 0TCT_MC01 or 0TCT_C01 by using the key figures 0TCTQUCOUNT (counts every
    navigation in a query) and 0TCTWTCOUNT (counts every call of a BI Application = initial opening of Workbook or Web Template).
    0TCTWTCOUNT is a key figure in the cube.  How to restrict this KF to display only Initial opening of Workbook or web template ?
    Regds,

    hi,
    Use the follwoing CHARS for restriction in report from cube 0TCT_VC01.
    0TCTBISOTYP --> Type of BI Application
    0TCTBIOTYPE --> Type of BI Application Object
    I hope it will help.
    Thanks,

  • SNMP Probe monitor query

    Hi ,
    I have created SNMP Probe based monitor to check the Total RAM free on certain Network devices.
    I have total 16GB RAM space and i want to alert if lesser than 3 GB of Total RAM. I had configured /DataItem/SnmpVarBinds/SnmpVarBind[1]/Value lesser than 3467826 to be critical and alert. The other condition is /DataItem/SnmpVarBinds/SnmpVarBind[1]/Value
    greater than 3467826 to be healthy.
    Once configured i am getting alerts for higher values like 19458676. could someone please help me with this scenario and correct me if i am wrong.
    Jesty Sam

    Why you use SNMP to monitor RAM, you can create custom monitor for RAM between 2 value min. and Max.
    SNMP is the most commonly used method mainly because it is easy to set up and requires minimal bandwidth and CPU cycles. If your network devices support SNMP and/or if you want to monitor large networks with several hundred or thousands of sensors, we recommend
    you to start with SNMP. Besides network usage monitoring, another well-known feature of SNMP is the ability to also watch other network parameters such as CPU load, disk usage, temperature, as well as monitoring many other readings, depending on the queried
    device.

  • BW system performance monitoring query

    Hello SAP BW Experts,
    I have a requirement in my project to set up a query to monitor the BW system performance which satisfies the below points.
    1. query should have a fixed, defined content which is not changing over the time (e.g. a fixed list of customers for a long closed month). This query should
        be executed once every hour (and therefore should be reasonable small).
    2. the run-time of this query should be recorded and the results written back to the technical content.
    3. setup a query which is reading and reporting this technical content.
    Please let me know if this is something to do with the reports on technical content cubes and which on which cube this requirement can be met.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    BR,
    Mohan

    Hello,
    Yes the Query run time data will be automatically captured in cube. No there is no need to add any process type after creating any new query because it is a global data collector. It doesnt depend on specific query and provider.
    You can also check further documentation on the providers mentioned on net. It willl help you to understand better. PLease check following document:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50f95b21-7fb8-2910-0c81-f6935d4c654b?overridelayout=true
    Some part of above document wil help you understand the working. Overall document is about BW administration cockpit. But you can make use according to your requirement.
    Thank You.

  • Inventory Monitoring Query Like 'Inventory Posting List ' Report

    Hi,
    I like to ask how to monitor/Track my Items in the Inventory. Inventory Posting List is a good Report but I want to customize it into my query. I have found a table OITW but the record is up date, there is no date i can refer to which I can back track the records.
    I want to create a report (query) which I can back track the previous transaction. Please guide me what tables i can refer to.
    Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Clint

    Hi Gordon,
    It seems I cant found any data regarding the transactions for my inventory because in the present the report is up to date.
    I want to get the previous inventory month of the item in which i will consider it as my beginning balance for my current inventory, in the the system its showing the current inventory.
    Thank you very much,

  • Easiest way to monitor query performance?

    Hi,
    What is the easiest method to track query performance? I need information about data collection from DataSource, data processing speed and front-end performance.
    I would like to compare the results when:
    1. the query is executed directly from BEx/WAD and
    2. the query accessed from portal.
    So basically I'm looking for a tool-set to monitor reporting performance at query level, per user.
    -Miikka

    It really depends on how indepth you want to go with your monitoring.  You could issue the show interface command and view the details there.  You could also view the top talkers on the ASDM dashboard. And another option is to use Netflow.
    Outside of that you would need to get either get Cisco Prime or another 3rd party monitoring software.

  • 2 monitor query

    Does anyone know if  it is possible to use 2 separate monitors (a 24" and a 20") using the Advanced Mini Dock with a T61 or T400?
    They would need to be showing 2 separate images for use with architectural drawings and plans
    Thinking you could use one monitor on the VGA and one on the DVI
    Anyone know for sure
    Thanks All

    yes you can. But when you use two external LCD, the internal LCD switches off.

  • Samsung Monitor query

    An odd plastic burning smell caused me to abandon my Mac monitor and I have just purchased a Samsun SyncMaster 913N. However although it tests ok as monitor, I get no image from the Mac. Occasionally I get a 'not ideal resolution' transient message just as I re-boot but other than that, nothing. I am using a Lindy 10switch Mac Monitir Adapter with the dip switches left set as purchased: ON/OFF/ON/ON/ON/OFF/OFF/OFF/OFF/OFF
    What to do?
    Is it the resoltuion and if so how do I get around this without a working screen? Is the adapater? Is it soemthing else? Having loved, re-energised, expanded and nurtured this beige G3 I am reluctant to give up now.
    Help please.
    Mervyn

    Hi Allan,
    The details should be visible at the bottom of the message: Beige G3 desktop OS 10.2.x. I have added more memory, a new 120GB hard drive and some other cards but the monitor issues are as origianlly shipped until that is the mac monitor started smoking.
    It is interesting to note that it boots in a low resolution. If I zap the PRAM would that not wipe my preferences and allow a low res boot? I did that for a few chimes yesterday (contro/alt/P/R) but without touching the CUDA to no avail.
    I have e-mailed the adapter source, Lindy.com, and await an answer but reading the pretty sketchy instructions it seemed as if the dip switch settings were likely to be right. The article: 70168 can be seen here: http://www.lindy.com/uk/productfolder/07/70168/index.php
    Any further advice appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mervyn

  • Monitor Query Execution

    Hi,
    I ran a package yesterday and left it to run on the background. I have the SID/serial number and wanted to find out ow long it took to complete, would that be possible as it ran yesterday?
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

    I ran a package yesterday and left it to run on the background. I have the SID/serial number and wanted to find out ow long it took to complete, would that be possible as it ran yesterday?SQL queries can be monitored via
    v$session_longops, v$sql and similar ...
    Packages - no. If you need to monitor progress of a custom package you have to instrument it for this with programming some logging or using dbms_application_info.set_module/action calls.
    Also you can attach with PL/SQL debugger to a running package, but it has to be compiled with debugging option.

  • Monitor query

    Is the rez on the 23" Cinema Desktop the same as the one on a CRT Pro monitor?
    Ti-1G G4   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    As in a CRT NTSC or PAL monitor? NTSC is 720x486 and PAL is 720x576 (both D1 pixel size) so a Cinema Display is far better resolution.
    Or as in a CRT computer display? CRTs can go quite high, though I think our old big Sony CRTs went up to only 1900x1200, and I'm sure a 23" Cinema Display can do better than that. This is only by memory, however.
    I guess I'm not sure what you're trying to compare.

  • Using TextArea to monitor query ...

    I am unable to do the following:
    Have a textarea and a button on a panel.
    When the button is clicked, the textarea displays "Starts Query"
    Then program queries the database.
    Finally, the textarea displays "end query".
    Problem: once the button is clicked, the textarea displays both
    "Start Query" and "End Query" AFTER the query is done. (I know this
    because the query is large - so at the very least I there should
    be a lapse of time between the two messages).
    There is a class that displays messages on the textarea (threaded)
    and there is a class for the query (threaded).
    the following is a snippet:
    void jButton1_actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    String msg = "Start querying";
    Message m = new Message(textArea,msg);
    m.start();
    DBConnection db = new DBConnection();
    db.start();
    m.addMessage("Number of records:");
    in the run method of Message:
    public void run() {
    addMessage(msg);
    public synchronized void addMessage(String m) {
    t.append(m + "\n");
    and in the run method of the other class
    public void run() {
    doQuery();
    synchronized int doQuery() {
    int counter = 0;
    try {
    wait();
    rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
    while (rs.next())
    counter ++;
    rs.close();
    stmt.close();
    con.close();
    return counter;
    catch (java.lang.InterruptedException ie) {}
    catch (SQLException sqlex) {}
    return -1;
    I am guessing that I am not using the threads the right way, or maybe I am
    totally off somewhere!
    Help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Manyiu

    After a quick look, it seems you are doing the right thing. The only suggestion i can give u is to get rid of the Message class (Is there a reason you need it?). Instead, do a textarea.settext before creating your db connection.

  • Monitoring query the DB

    We are experience the Monitory feature in BI 4 is constantly inserting data to the audit database. It's inserting close to 40gb of data per hour. Anyone knows why?

    INTO MOT_MES_METRICS (CUID,Name,DetailsId) VALUES (@P1,@P2,@P3)

    Hi Rickey,
    we are experencing the same problem.
    We are using Oracle DB for CMS&Audit. BOE is on 4.1 SP2. DB is 11g.
    Recently I switched the Monitoring DB from Derby to the Audit DB and soon afterwards we realized that DB became overloaded because the archive logs were full. We raised the frequency of the archive log run but without success.
    We stopped the monitoring application and everything is fine again
    Problematic statement seem the "delete from MOT_MES_METRICS".
    Has anyone an idea what's happening?

  • Synthetic Transactions Monitoring - Query

    Hi,
    Couple of things I would like to clarify related to Synthetic Transactions as I'm unable to find it clearly:
    1) In SCOM, are Synthetic transactions executed parallel or sequentially? I could not find anything officially written on that? Lets say if I've 10 transactions to be monitored per watcher node, will it be executed one by one until one is completed or all
    10 will be executed at the same time. How to identify?
    2) A transaction with multi steps, will it be counted as one transaction or every step under that is treated as separate transaction?
    3) Considering the point number 2 how many transactions are supported per watcher node
    3) In the pre-req guidelines it is mentioned 50 URL's monitoring supported per agent. Is it just from URL availability point of view or anything else being said here?
    Thanks,

    Can anybody share views on this please?

  • Broadband Usage Monitor Query

    My broadband usage is split between myself and my son.
    The average for the past months has been around 30GB total.
    Last month it was at 90GB is there any way to drill down into the total figure shown to find out where the usage came from.

    You can't do it retrospectively but for the future you could install NetWorx on each PC and it will provide detailed usage data (hourly if you want it).
    It may not be the reason in your case, but streaming Olympics coverage will have had a substantial impact on general usage patterns.
