That cable box won't do HD and so it won't connect with an HDMI cable, BUT you can still get a picture if you follow the below wiring diagrams.
If you want to take advantage of that HDMI Cable hook up and the better picture quality, then you need to drop by a store or call VERIZON And place an order by calling 1-800-VERIZON

  • Mini DVI to HDMI hookup not working.

I just purchased the Mini DVI to HDMI hookup for my MacBook Pro. I plugged it into the HDMI port in my Samsung TV and the blue screen appeared onto my Mac for a second and then it went back to normal. My TV isn't detecting the MacBook and the Mac is back to normal. Is there something in the set up/ settings that needs to be done? I'm REALLY hoping and praying for an easy fix to my silly problem.
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    - Courtenay

I tried it both with Mirroring checked and unchecked. I'm also not sure what my resolution should be set at so that could have something to do with it.
As far as I can tell, the MacBook is detecting the TV since the blue screen pops up and disappears once it's plugged in. It seems to be the Samsung TV that's not detecting the MacBook.

  • Audio problems for online videos played with HDMI hookup

I have a pavilion dv4 1155se notebook with vista os, and i have been having some sound problems when i hook my computer up to my hdtv. my knowledge about computers is fairly limited so bear with me please. whenever i hook my notebook up to my tv (using hdmi) to play online videos the sound will only come out of the speakers on my laptop, not the tv. the sound comes through the tv's speakers for everything else (music, games, etc) and it used to work for the online videos but the last couple times i've hooked my laptop up the sound only comes out of the notebooks speakers. the digital output device is enabled like it should be, it's just this one thing that is not working right. if anyone could help me out with this i would really appreciate it.

Re-export the .mov using QT Pro's iPod preset. If you song is in there, it will play. Make sure that 'Make Self Contained' is checked.

  • Hooking to TV via HDMI

I have Samsung BlueRay DVD Player which is plugged into a Samsung TV by HDMI cable in port 2.  When I plug another HDMI into one of the other ports and connect it to my MacBook Pro's Thunderboldt port via an HDMI to mini converter my computer screen shows up great on the TV as a mirror of what is on the computer.  When I disconnect the MacBook Pro the BlueRay DVD player no longer shows up in the device list and cannot be found until I unplug the HDMI cable from the TV port that was used with the MAC.  I then have to do a reset of the devices in order to get the Blue Ray Player back on the source list of devices. Can anyone help me with what is going on?

Thanks for the reply.  When my MacBook Pro is hooked to the Samsung TV via an HDMI cable from the TV into the Mac Thunderbolt port via a Mini to HDMI converter I can select the Samsung Blue Ray Player and all is well.  It's when I unhook my MAC from the Thunderbolt port (which goes into the HDMI into the TV) that I can no longer locate the Blue Ray Player as a device to choose on the TV menu unless I unplug the HDMI from the TV that went to the MAC (I tried other ports) and reset the devices.  The only other device I have to add to the mix for testing is our old PowerBook G4.  The HDMI hookup to the G4 is not through a thunderbolt port obviously and the resolution on the TV is lousy but there is no impact on the Blue Ray Player when the G4 is unplugged.    I talked to a fellow who had an identical TV to mine with several devices (an iiTV, XBOX, SamsungBluRay (BD-D6500, but not a MacBook Pro) and his system works perfectly. These are some of the reasons I am beginning to suspect it is the MacBook Pro's thunderbolt connection that is causing the problem, since the Blue Ray Player and TV work perfectly otherwise.  If you other thoughts let me know.

  • Mini to a Philips W/S, HD tv with dvi to hdmi

ok, so i finally got the display to gome up regularly, i just bought a 30 in, wide screen philips hd with a hdmi hookup in the back. i got a dvi to hdmi cord with it, and i got the diplay to show up fine in 720x480 rez, but the whole point of the new screen was so i could run imovie hd. i had my mini hooked up to an old monitor that i used the adaptor for. the only other rez higher is 1920x1080, and i think i need 1080x720, or whatever the minimum rez for imovie is. when i run the 1920 rez, everything is on screen (as long as overscan is off, took me a while to figure that out) but very very small and it donsen't seem right. i can at least use it on the new monitor, but i still cant run imovie because i cant read a **** thing. any help would be much appreciated. pleaze? anyone? i hope i can find out before it's too late to return this thing...

    i got this off switcrezx...help?

  • Macbook pro to tv hookup

I am trying to watch a movie on my tv via hdmi hookup on my '11 macbook pro. I've got the necessary hookups to convert to hdmi and the sound is coming through my tv. But my tv is only showing the default "space" background and nothing else. How do I make it show the video?

Because you can see the Mac's desktop image on your TV, the HDMI connection is working.
I noticed that since the LION upgrade, the MacBook Pro will not display a movie on the TV if I choose full screen mode.
If you are trying to watch in full screen mode you'll have to exit that to get a window. Then, if you have the window on your Mac screen, you should be able to drag it to the TV screen. Then drag it to enlarge the window as big as you want it. But don't coose full screen mode again.

  • I do not have a HDMI hook up

I just purchased an Apple TV.  Since my TV is older, it does not have an HDMI hookup.  What can I do?

Unless there is a cable box that can act as an HDMI switch, the answer is no.
(Cable box HDMI connections are usually output only not inputs to show signals through their other outputs).

  • MacBook HDMI output

Went to Apple store and they recommended that I use a DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter with a DVI-D to HDMI cable to drive my Panasonic TH-42PX500U.
Well I hooked it up and got a great picture which did not feel my screen. My ATV works great at either 720p or 1080i.
Their are a bunch of resolutions listed under the display settings in system preferences.
My question in which will lineup best with my Plasma since the notebook does not have native HDMI?
HD video resolutions (ie 1280 x 720, 1920 x 1080) do not fill the entire screen.
    Mike

I have tried and purchased both DisplayConfigX and SwitchresX. For the life of me I cannot get the DPort>DVI>hdmi hookup to work to my 42" Panasonic. The new Pana supports 480P, 720P and 1080i. Even when I select these setting in DisplayConfigX I get nothing on the Plasma. The Apple TV works with everyone of these settings in the same HDMI port. The only way to get a desktop on the Plasma is to set it to 1280 x 720.
Something is crazy wrong with me. I have no more ideas. The best display I can get is with the DP>VGA adapter at 1280 x 768. And it is nothing to write home about. The display works fine with my iMac, HP Notebook and my Dell notebook.
    Total bummed!!

  • Mini Dvi to S-video/Composite/RCA

I have a 2007 black macbook and recently bought a Mini-DVI to video adapter (brand-dynex) and hooked it up to my older television (TV has no hdmi hookup or dvi, just S-Video and RCA) and I could faintly make out my computer screen but it was all "scratchy" and was moving across the screen. I changed the resolution and it became black and gray lines moving up and down the screen. I was wondering how can I hook my computer up to this older TV to watch movies online (I wont be upset with low quality). Do I need to purchase the Apple brand adapter or is there some "tweeking" I can do to make the Dynex one work? thanks

Honestly, I was afraid of this... Oh well, I bought it off ebay and got my money refunded so no harm done. Thanks for the help and if anyone can figure some application or anything and get their adaptor to work, please contact me thanks....

  • Who is blocking video Airplay for websites, is it Apple or the website?

I have to think the reason I can't share video from most websites to my TV is not due to technological limitations, but due to either Apple or the website owners themselves deliberately withholding from us this functionality. The reason I think this is because I've found a way to trick Airplay and/or the website to share the first ~15 seconds or so of the video to my TV. If you have an iPad and an AppleTV, here's how to Airplay share at least a portion of video from a website that's seemingly non-compatible for video Airplay sharing:
    1. On your iPad, go to any website with a video you'd like to watch on your TV (I tried it out on cnn.com).
    2. Tap to play the video on you iPad2.
    3. Tap to share the video to your AppleTV via AirPlay. Except for a few select sites like Vimeo and I think You Tube, you will see that you can only share the audio to your TV, not the video. I'm having you do these first three steps just to prove the video is not compatible with Airplay sharing.
    4. Now go to vimeo.com and play a video. I'm not sure this works with every video, so try out this one (don't worry, it's rated G): http://vimeo.com/14853945 When I played it I had HD selected so HD was highlighted in blue. Tap to share to your AppleTV (you should in this case be able to share both the audio and the video).
    5. Now go back to that same website you were at before, tap the same movie to play it, and then tap to share to your AppleTV over AirPlay. This time around, you'll notice that you can in fact share both the audio and the video to your TV. However, after around 15 seconds or so it kicks you off so you are no longer able to share that video to your TV.
I think that's interesting. Does anyone know why that would be? My guess is that it's because once you can share anything you want from the web to your TV, you might no longer need to receive any cable broadcast, and, as an example, if you watch CNN on your TV straight from the Web, CNN doesn't get any money from that, whereas if you watch over cable or satellite, they already have an arrangement whereby the cable/satellite providers pay royalties back to the various TV networks for the right to distribute their content to our televisions.
However, I think it's already possible to share anything from the web to your TV, even on an iPad, right? I believe that that digital AV adapter allows you to fully mirror whatever is on your iPad to your TV already, doesn't it? If that's the case, why bother blocking the functionality via Airplay when we already have the option via an HDMI hookup?
This is all very interesting to me. My stepdad thinks in ten years the broadcasting landscape will have totally changed the way we watch TV. Rather than pay Comcast or DirecTV to distribute your content, you will access your content through a tablet or other device which you would then have mirrored on your TV.
I think my stepdad's wrong. I give it two years. Two years from now I think many of us will no longer pay Comcast or DirecTV for our content, and aside from sports and news, there will no longer be a schedule for when a program is on TV. Everything will be on demand. It's pretty much that way now anyway for anyone who has a DVR.

Thanks for all of the commentary. I posted this before I received my iPad2. I now have an iPad2 and while I've successfully mirrored it to my TV, I find it useless for mirroring anything other than video (because webpages, etc. look like crap on the TV) and the mirroring only works about half the time, if that.
At least half of the time when I plug the digital AV adaptor into the back of my iPad2, I get nothing on the TV. I think this is because it's a really long HDMI cable (cuz who wants to have to sit right next to your TV?) and I run it through an HMDI hub because my TV only has one HDMI input and I need 3-4 HDMI inputs (one for my DVR, one for my AppleTV, one for my HD camera, one for my DVD player and one for my iPad if I want to mirror it, which I won't if it continues to be so inconsistent).

  • Networking the mini with a Media center PC

I have my Mini networked with a PC with Windows media center. I have not been apple to see recorded TV from the PC to the mini. Any ideas?
Mac Mini Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   networked wit PC

yes, absolutely, for standard playback, the integrated chipset was good. the problem was XBMC doesn't seem to work well with the nouveau driver, even trying to browse menu's was super choppy, took like 10-20 seconds everytime you press down in a menu for example to see the selection change. i could have used nvidia's binary driver, but i've been using nouveau for so long now, and it actually makes my system feel like it has a quad core which the nvidia didn't at the time, maybe nvidia's drivers have improved since then? but at the same time, i'm glad i got the radeon, the XBMC performance is great, and the HDMI hookup for the tv is convienient as well. Also using the vga input on my TV, i kept having to adjust the screen position because its constant autoscan everytime the resolution changed did not get it right, with the hdmi its lined up perfect without having to mess with it. so i think the 50$ for the card and an hdmi cable was worth it

  • HP HD Monitor question

I just bought the new 23" HP monitor to replace my old one.Question,it has a HDMI hookup on it.Where would you hook up the other end of the HDMI cable? My desktop is 6 or 7 years old and has no HD connections.I have a Hi-Def cable box nearby hooked to my 52"LG.My cable box only has one HDMI hook-up but my LG has four. Can I work something out with this or am I in the wrong ballpark all together?Any and all help will be appreciated!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

On a desktop that old, I would just connect the monitor with a VGA or DVI cable based on the connection from your desktop.

  • Hooking Up Receiver and TV

I have a Pioneer multi-channel receiver and just purchased an Insignia LCD TV.  How do I need to hook up the receiver and TV?  Is there a special cord or setting I need to use?
My receiver used to be hooked up to my standard TV using basic audio (red/white) cables and worked fine playing the TV sound through my stereo speakers.
    Please help.

    Thank you for your reply.
My receiver does have HDMI hookup and I tried that, but was unsuccessful so figured I must be doing something wrong.  I wasn't sure if I was hooking the cord up to the wrong port (there are 3 on the receiver and 3 on the TV--the ones on the receiver are labeled differently) or if there was a setting I needed to change on either the TV and/or the receiver.  The way I would like for it to be set up is to have sound coming out of the TV speakers all the time and just turn on my receiver when I want surround sound---so I want sound from both my stereo speakers and TV speakers.  Can I do that through the sound settings on the TV?
Side note: My CD player, tuner, and mp3 player are hooked up and playing fine through the receiver. I've never hooked anything up to it with HDMI.
