HDMI TO HDMI

I was able to port video from my laptop to my HD TV
the next day it wouldn't work.  I don't think my laptop is sensing the HDMI cable, no "ding" when I plug it in or remove it.

That is the series... Check at the bottom of the notebook, you would see a white colour label which says service tag....That will have the model number or if you can press the fn+ESC key combo, that will launch the HP system Information window that will have it as well...
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • Yoga 3 pro : problem connecting to HD TV with micro/mini HDMI to HDMI

I purchased a YOGA 3 PRO (512GB) and couldn't be happier with how light and slim this jewel is. The CPU works fast and overall it's a gret UltraBook.
    BUT
I just can't connect my Yoga 3 Pro to my TV. I purchased this Ultra Book at BEST BUY (this model is apparently an "exclusive" of Best Buy), and since I knew i need to connect it to an external monitor to do real work on photoshop, I also purchased an INSIGNIA micro-HDMI to HDMI cable.
As shown below, my 32" HD TV (one of the latest models from LG / ref. 32LB5800) is recognized by Windows 8.1 and the INTEL HD Graphics 5300 Display driver (which i updated to the latest version 10.18.10.3960), but unfortunately the TV says "NO SIGNAL".
    Link to image
I've tried to connect the Insighnia mini-HDMI to HDMI cable in all 3 HDMI inputs on my TV, but same pathetic result. The first input is HDMI ARC, the second one is regular HDMI and the third one is for mobile devices (HDMI MHL), but all 3 returned the same "NO SIGNAL".
So I figured maybe it was the TV. Thus i plugged my Yoga 3 Pro to a Pioneer Plasma TV that was about 3-4 years old, straight to one of HDMI inputs and same thing, no image. However, Windows 8.1 found the TV and even suggests the ideal resolution.
In both cases the TV model was found by Windows 8.1 and shown under the "Screen Resolution" menu. I selected "Extend these displays" to use the TV as a main monitor, but of course this doesn't help the case.
So i started digging this forum and read a lot of coomplaints about the previous version of the YOGA PRO and that the micro-HDMI plug was poorly designed and the cable connector needed to be "trimmed" a little by 1mm or so to allow it plug fully into the port. So i tried that too, and even though i succesfully removed 1mm of rubber around my Insignia cable connector, it didn't help whatsoever since apparently, the new YOGA 3 PRO doesn't have this issue any longer, its design solved indeed that weakness of its predecessor.
So I'm asking: what the hell is the problem then? it's driving me crazy. I've literrally spent the past 6 hours trying to figure it out, but without any success. This forum has ZERO post about a problem of connection of a YOGA 3 PRO to an HDTV. I know it's a very recent model, but still, I can't believe to be the only one experiencing this issue.
If I don't find a solution quickly I'm afraid I'll have no other choice but to return it. It's unbelievable that both the latest iterations of the LENOVO YOGA PRO are having issues (likely different) connecting to an HD TV using the mini/micor HDMI port.
Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, but LENOVO better get their act together and fix this stat!
UPDATE: i also noticed that when the cable is plugged into the micro-HDMI port, there's no more sound on the ultrabook. I played a video while the cable was plugged in and NO SOUND. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I would assume connecting the Yoga 3 Pro with the cable into the TV makes it believe that the sound shall be directed towards the TV now, hence the disabled sound on the Ultrabook, even though on the receiving side, the TV still doesn't get any signal from that cable, neither video nor audio.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

well it turned out the culprit was the INSIGNIA Micro-HDMI to HDMI cable sold by Best Buy. I tried another cable brand and now it's working just fine! Go figure...

  • When using HDMI to HDMI cable the Master Sound Control is locked.

    Hello,
I am new to OS X and i have tried to adjust the sound when plugged to the secondary monitor through HDMI which of course didn't work.
I have been using windows and a linux for years now, and everything works seamless.
I believe that this could be easily solved by Apple as long as their are willing to do it. Having a virtual device for sound control is not that difficult.
    All the bests
There are two ways to 'solve' this.
Alter the volume before sending the digital signal down the HDMI connection, this means the signal is no longer exactly as it was originally. Apple's current (apparent) view is that this should be done at the end i.e. playback device not at the originating (Mac) end so as to minimise the number of devices making changes to the signal. Basically 'volume' is the amplitude of a an analogue wave form. (Where else do you think the term 'amp' comes from.)
Not to alter the volume of the signal at the Mac end but instead to send a signal down the HDMI cable to tell the end i.e. playback device to alter the volume, this uses a standard called CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), unfortunately at the moment no Macs support this standard - it has to be supported at a hardware level so a simple Apple software upgrade to implement this is not possible. I have previously logged an official enhancement request for this with Apple - the more people who do this the more likely it is to be added, since now all Macs include HDMI it might happen at some point.
As an addendum to option 2 above, see http://www.pulse-eight.com/store/products/104-usb-hdmi-cec-adapter.aspx this would however require software support in whatever application is being used. XBMC for Mac does support it.

  • New 2012 Mac mini having screen resolution problem when I connect to either 27" LG or 22" Hannspree monitor. Tried mini display port to VGA/HDMI and HDMI to DVI-D cables... all same isse

New 2012 Mac mini having issues in connecting to third party Monitors. Connected my mac mini to a 27" LG monitor. Text looks blurred. Tried connecting to the monitor using 3 options. 1) mini port to HDMI, then HDMI cable to LG monitor. 2) Mini port to VGA, then VGA cable to monitor 3) HDMI port on mini mac to DVI-D cable then DVI to DVI cable... In all cases text is not clear. Anyone has similar issues with latest mini mac. The monitor works fine when I connect to a windows 7 Samsung laptop. Any input is highly appreciated. Thanks in Advance

Why do you use always 2 cables? There's a lot that can go wrong.
    1.) Hardware:
    - Use only one cable, best an HDMI->HDMI cable. It doesn't need to be an expensive one, they've proven to be no worse than those "esoteric", expensive ones.
    - Set the monitor to the HDMI input.
    - The modes you are listing are only "picture modes" changing color/brightness/contrast settings, not resolution or the likes, so pick the one you like best later, or enter your own settings under Custom.
    2.) OS X:
    - Usually the Mac detects the screen itself and chooses the best settings, so by default you need to do nothing than make a proper hardware connection to get a decent image.
    - However, there have been issues with new Mac Minis and particularly their HDMI ports. But reportedly they have been fixed with a software update. So, launch the App Store and check under Updates if there is one for you to install. If so, do it; otherwise you should be good to go.
    - If you require, go to System Preferences -> Displays. In the Dispaly tab, by default, "Best for display" should be selected, and that is typically true. If you want, select "Scaled" and 1920x1080, plus a frequency from the list (where higher is usually better, but just pick the one that works best for you). If you can't see a change to the better, you best go back to "Best for display".
    - If you are not happy with the colors on your screen, you'll find eventually more than one choice in the Color tab, though your particular screen should be in the list and its Display Profile should get you the best result. (Double-check picture modes on your display: if you're far off there, you won't make it much better with the Mac's settings).

Hi Rob - thanks so much for your help!  Could you tell me what "air sever or reflector apps." are? and where can I look for information about them?
Do you use them on the Ipad or on the PC?
Do I need a cable too and which one?

  • Mac mini will not recognize my hdtv through hdmi to hdmi

I just bought the new mac mini, got home super excited, hooked it up to my hdtv through hdmi to hdmi and nada.
I have a Vizio, 42-inch, 50/60 hz, Plasma TV.  It was made in 2006 so there is no DVI port, it only has an RGB port other than the 2 HDMI ports.
I have tried both HDMI ports.
I tried turning everything off, unplugging everything waiting 10 seconds, reconnecting everything and turning the mac mini on first, then the tv AND vice versa.
    Nothing.
My HDMI cable was kind of old so I went out and bought a new one from Belkin.
    Nothing.
It does look like the TV is recognizing the device because it does not say "No signal", so it seems that the mac mini itself is not recognizing it.
I just bought this thing, it has not even been setup yet!
And I do not have another moniter here to hook it up to.
I tried calling Apple Care, but I called at 7:30 waited for 30 minutes for someone to tell me they were transferring me to tech support, then the phone rang for 10 minutes.  I hung up and called back and they said the office was closed!
I am a die hard mac user, but I am at my wit's end here.
I guess my next step is to take it to the genius bar?
But I wanted to see if anyone out there has any suggestions/ideas?
(I know there are other discussions out there about this, but nothing I found actually helped my situation.
    Thanks everyone.

I just got my mac mini as well and I'm having the same problem with my HDTV. Unfortunately I am not at home so I do not have the tv model on hand but it is a Panasonic from 05/06.  I am trying to connect from the HDMI on the mini to the HDMI port on the tv and when it boots up the grey start upscreen shows up on the tv and loads for alittle bit than everything goes black. Any ideas?

  • HDMI to HDMI cable

can I connect a Mac Mini to a computer monitor using a HDMI to HDMI cable directly without using any adapter???
In terms of achieve the best HD resolution quality this is the best connection or not??

If the HP has a mini displayport or display port connections that is best. However, with the resolution of the HP, HDMI is fine. You may have to adjust the scaling slider in Display Properties to fully fill the screen and maybe to prevent overfilling it.

  • XtremeMac XtremeHD HDMI to HDMI Cable

Does anybody have the XtremeMac XtremeHD HDMI to HDMI Cable?
If so, how is it? I have typically used Monster cables in the past, but I don't feel like tossing down $100+ for a cable right now and the XtremeMac cable is only $19.99.
I bought my Apple TV at an Apple Store in VA, but they didn't get in any of the HDMI cables, so I have to order one or pay high local prices.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=193 33EB6&nplm=TL951LL%2FA

There is ZERO difference between the performance of a Monster cable and any other HDMI cable. It's digital; it works or it doesn't. (The mass of cables behind your gear that you mention won't affect it at all.)
Here's a source of inexpensive, high quality cables. You can get an HDMI cable for less than $6.

  • HDMI Audio - HDMI unplugged

Having trouble getting HDMI audio to work on ATI HD7850 (Southern Islands) Graphics card. I have enabled the audio module and running kernel :3.11.4-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Oct 5 21:22:51 CEST 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux. Using ALSA and Pulseaudio and xf86-video-ati graphics drivers.
the hdmi out is listed in aplay but no sound is output. The device is shown as unplugged in pavucontrol despite hdmi video working correctly.  I have tried the wiki pages for troubleshooting unsuccessfully. i have tried every combination of card and device in aplay to test for output.
Is there a way to force hdmi to be plugged in? I believe that somehow the snd_hda_intel driver is interpreting the device as unavailable and therefore not sending the audio stream out.
Below are some relevent commands and there outputs. Thanks for any help or insights.

  • My new Mac mini works hdmi to hdmi on hdtv but not screen monitor?

Hi everyone. Today I purchased a Mac mini.
I have connected it to my LG flatron w2261v monitor using a hdmi to hdmi cable. My screen is telling me to check signal cable and haven't been able to see the screen to set it up.
The mini works on my HDTV and I get a picture. If the monitor has an hdmi port it should work right? Or have I set it up incorrectly? Thanks for your help!

Thanks so mich for replying. This is my first Mac experience, after having windows vista :)
I purchased a generic hdmi cable to save $29. I just took a punt on the cable because I saw both the screen and mini had a port so thought that cable would do haha
I used the same cable on both the monitor and tv with the mini. I've swapped the ends of the cord etc, with no luck.
Perhaps I should try dvi-d on my monitor and use the adapter instead? Or maybe get the apple hdmi to hdmi cable and not be cheap? Whatever gives the best picture?
People are also saying that the hdmi provides the sound?? I had my old speakers plugged in it too...I'm lost sorry, this is a whole new platform for me!
I'm just not sure as I haven't even seen the start up screen yet to connect my mouse and keyboard and set up the device. Do you think it's wise to be resetting something if I haven't even done anything yet? It's literally out of the box and never used.

  • U2414H, HDMI to HDMI compatibility?

I am interested in purchasing the U2414H Monitor & have a few questions. I am sorry to say, but the Dell Support team in India is just not able to answer my queries. Really hope you would be able to solve them. My queries are :
    1) I have the following 3 ports at the back of my CPU : a regular HDMI, DVI & VGA port. Can I use the HDMI Port to connect this monitor & will I get the full 1920x1080 @60Hz resolution on display? (I have Windows 8.1 as my OS &  an OnBoard Intel HD Graphics 2500 Card & it does list 1920x1080 (32bit) @60Hz list mode option)
    2) Which particular HDMI Cable do I need to buy for connecting the monitor ? Will a regular HDMI-to-HDMI Cable so ? Please do help me with any specifications for the HDMI-to-HDMI Cable.
    3) The Monitor has USB 3.0 ports at the back panel. Are there any USB ports on the side panel, as the pictures do not clearly indicate.
    4) Is there any problem of the icons at the edge of the desktop screen getting stretched on using HDMI Display connectivity Option.
Hope to hear from you soon & help me choose my monitor.
    Thanks,
    Prashant.

Thanks a lot Chris for your prompt reply ! Really appreciate your help.
Sorry, I have 3 more questions : Hope you can help me with them.
    1) I am a home user and would be mainly using the monitor for more like email, browsing the internet, using Word, Excel, etc & watch an odd movie or so.
What would you suggest : Going for the U2414H or the U2412M Monitor? I am leaning towards the U2414H because of the HDMI connectivity & the USB3.0 ports.
    2) Will I need to update my Intel Graphics 2500 drivers to be able to use the U2414H monitor at 1920x1080 resolution with HDMI connectivity?
    3) Is the U2414H Monitor Panel glossy & reflects light ? Since, my Desk is facing a wall & behind me there is a huge window? Will there be too much reflection?
    Thanks again for your help.
    Prashant.

  • Mac Mini to Toshiba 32C120U (HDMI to HDMI) problem

My Toshiba 32" 32C120U is not getting video signal from my Mac Mini. I bought the Mini for my son and this is his TV. I have hooked up the Mini to my older 22" Toshiba and my 56" Samsung with the same HDMI cable and it works great on both. What the heck is wrong with my son's 32" Toshiba? I have called Toshiba customer support and they won't help with my question without a $35 charge because I'm just out of the year warranty . . some customer support that is !!! I really don't know what they would be able to tell me other than thanks for your $35 and sorry we can't help you. I did update the firmware on the TV and the Mac Mini has been completely updated as well.
I have also tried both HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 ports with his Xbox with success, so both ports work. I have also tried both ports with the Mac Mini and there is "no video signal" on both ports. I noticed that when I hooked up the Mini to the other TVs it automatically selects the best video setting, so there is obviously some communication that happens between the Mini and TV, but that is not happening with my son's TV.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    John

  • Hi, I was wondering if my early 2013 macbook pro w/ retina display is compatible with a Dell 24" S2440L monitor. If so, will a hdmi to hdmi connection work or do I have to buy a thunderbolt extension.

I was just wondering if my macbook could use the Dell as an external monitor and how I should connect it with out making mistakes.

You can just use an HDMI cable to connect your MacBook Pro to the Dell Display.

  • HDMI to HDMI Cable alternatives?

All components run through Onkyo receiver using Component Video IN/OUT HDMI quality cables.  Samsung HD with 1080 and 5.1 surround sound.  Apple Stores does not offer, nor Fry's, compatible cable from apple tv 2nd gen to work with receiver. The entire system set up perfectly using Component Video IN/OUT cables, including last year's install of AirPort Express.
Any suggestions since I will not reconfigure all the cables to a system that is working flawlessly?

the Samsung HD tv, CD player, surround sound, AT&T cable, Wii, AirPort Express are connected to the receiver.  the receiver has digital optical IN 1,2, 3 and OUT ... but nothing is connected to any digitial optical ports.  the cabinet which houses everything is built into the space which was created by the home builder seven years ago.
that said, are you suggesting to connect apple tv HDMI cables using a converter which then uses one of the digital optical ports?
