HDV export to H.264 jittery within Media Encoder

I'm rendering out a 50 minute documentary shot and edited in HDV 60i. I did  it within Premeire Pro CS4 using Adobe Media Encoder CS4. First I exported it as a Quicktime H.264 1920x1080 29.97 progressive video. The video looks PERFECT, and is 31GB.
Trying to get the video file to less than 4.7 gb to burn onto a dvd as a image file, I then exported both the PP timeline and the QT H.264 file in Meda Encoder to the MP4 H.264 1920x1080 29.97 progressive and it came out to 4.5 GB. The image quality looks good, but scences that have a lot of movement the video is noticably jittery. The reason I want this encode to work is because I would like to be able to burn the  HD image file to DVD to distribute along with the regular SD DVD. Does anybody know why it's jittery? Is there a setting I have to change? Is there another Codec someone could recomend to get me under 4.7 HD while keeping the full HD quality?
Funny thing is if I play the jittery MP4 H.264 though my Western Digital HD player (plays 1080 movies off a portable usb hard drive to a television monitor up to 1080p via HDMI cable) it plays perfect, no jitters. But if I burn the same file to dvd and open on another computer (after copy/paste to hard drive) it is jittery.
Thanks for the help!!

I agree with you that the error message should be more helpful, and I consider the fact that the existing error message is misleading to be a bug.

    Nonsense.
Apple Compressor has been doing wmf exports for a decade. I have the Quicktime export components from Telestream and they appear as presets in Compressor. They should be available in Media Encoder or they should be importable. Adove apparently refuses to see them. Still trying to figure that out.

  • PPCS3 won't export only the work area to media encoder

I can't figure out why Premiere Pro CS3 is no longer exporting the work area to the media encoder. I CAN successfully export the work area to Encore but even when I select WORK AREA under the RANGE option in EXPORT SETTINGS the media encoder still shows only the entire sequence.
Same results on any sequence or project I've tried.
    Any suggestions?

Are you sure you're not confusing the sequence In and Out Points with the Work Area Bar? I've seen people make that mistake before. The Work Area Bar is what controls the "Work Area" export.
If it's not that then you have a real mystery on your hands. :o

  • Freezes when exporting .mov files in CS4 / Adobe Media Encoder

For the past 7 hours now I have been trying every internet remedy for the following problem, and was wondering if any of you nice people could help:
I just came back from a ski trip, and wanted to make an edit featuring my fiends. I recorded large parts of the trip on my new iPhone, both in 720p 120fps (120.15fps, h.264 1280*720) and the normal 1080p 30fps. iPhone files are in the .mov format. I also recorded some parts on a GoPro hero hd2 camera at both 720p 60fps and 1080p 30fps. GoPro files are in the MP4 format, and i've never had a probvlem with them.
Now all imports fine into premiere pro, and although I had a few problems with freezing while editing initially, this was quickly solved by terminating all unused (non-adobe) processes in task manager.
So I spent a good 4 hours making a 2.5 minute edit of our day, and wanted to export it.
So I selected the sequence, and went file>export>media, selected all of the preferences i wanted for exporting, and sent it to the Adobe media encoder.
The media encoder loads the files for a few seconds, and then starts the encoding process. And promptly freezes. It freezes at around 10-20 seconds (depending on export preferences) after starting to encode, and never restarts. i can then pause the encode, but cancelling it crashes adobe media encoder and subsequently also crashes Premiere Pro.
I may be mistaken here, but I have a strong suspicion that It is quicktime that is causing all this.
    So I tried the following:
    - reinstalling, downgrading, updating, etc. Quicktime
    - renaming file extensions from .mov to .mp4
    - all sorts of export preferences, from image sequences to dvd to blueray and dv. (Image sequences, interestingly, occasionally export to about half a minute into the video(also depending on preferences), then freeze)
    - crossing my fingers
    - checking for gaps in video, found none
    - updating premiere pro and media encoder
    - throwing my mouse at the wall in frustration
    - making a new project with different settings and copying in the sequence
    - disabling "Include source xmp metadata"
    - making a new user account and trying it there
Is there anything else I can try?
Could I copy the project itself into a different program (e.g. iMovie or Windows Movie Maker) and export from there?
Is there an alternative to Adobe media encoder?
    Need more information?
    Thanks for the help!
    Specs:
    Premiere version: 4.2.1
    Encoder version: 4.2.0.006
    Comp specs:
    16Gb ram
    quad core i5
256 Gb solid state (system, program files are here)
2TB HDD (video files, scratch disk are here)
    Nvidia gtx 660 graphics
    Windows 64 bit
    1 monitor

I bought quicktime pro today to try this, but to no avail. it just freezes up again during export.
I tried some other fixes on that page, like renaming files to .mpg extension, which worked once during an export of a test sequence (although everything was shifted and it cut off the export at the gopro footage).
Is there any way I can export this project to another program to export it from there perhaps?
    Thanks for the help!

  • I takes 70 hours to export a sequence in Premiere Pro/ Media Encoder

    Hi,
I am having a lot of trouble with Media Encoder and Premiere Pro CS4. I'm trying to export a sequence that is only 3 minutes long and it's taking 70 hours to export- it usually taked 6 hours or just overnight to export. Below is the screen shots of the settings. Help.Thank you

Thank you for your response and help. I don't think I'm scalling up the frame rate. Attached is some screen shots of the info.  Honestly codecs are a bit confusing for me but I think the codec is H.264
What should my bitrate be? It said for maximum quality increase bitrate and honestly I'm really dissatisfied with the quality, it's a HD camera - Canon XA10 and I feel the picture quality isn't up to par with other HD footage I've seen. I'm thinking it's something I'm doing wrong in the post settings somewhere.

  • Exporting a flv: coming out of Media Encoder CS4 blurry

When I export a flv from Premiere CS4, in the Output plane of the Export Settings window, everything looks fine: crisp and sharp, exactly like the source. However, after the file shows up in Media Encoder, the output becomes blurry. Checking the settings in Encoder, they are the exact same as in Premiere, but in the Output plane, the image is now blurry (source is still sharp). How can I fix this?

The bitrate setting is 1400. When using CS2, I had the same setting, but everything was sharp. But in CS4, it no longer is.

  • Exporting from Premiere Pro CS4 using Media Encoder gets stop error

I am trying to export my timeline from Premiere Pro CS4, using the Adobe Media Encoder CS4 to export my timeline as an MPEG2 HDTV 1080 24, and it goes for about fifteen minutes then I get the blue screen and my computer restarts, telling me the program had a stop error.  Is there a way to go around this step?  Another method to get the mpeg2 without losing quality?  Anything I can do?
Please offer any knowledge you have before I scream at my computer again.
    Thank you

as I know Adobe products are buggy no matter what hardware you have.
I am sorry, but my experience has been the absolute opposite of what you have heard, or experienced. I have used many, many Adobe programs for almost 2 decades (maybe even more than 2 decades?), and have never observed such. I do have to admit that over those many years, I have always had a "state of the art" computer, but have made plenty of $ using Adobe software. Even with my now aging workstation, things work great. Time to upgrade though.
When troubleshooting issues, they shake out like this:
    1.) system
    2.) Assets
    3.) Project
    4.) OE
    5.) Bugs
This is after troubleshooting Adobe issues from almost the time that PS hit the PC, when they were only NNTP, in what, 1985?
Now, I am not saying that your issue IS hardware, but only that that is the most likely issue, given a BSOD. Also, system is the #1 cause of issues, so that is where I start.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Export with .mov extension in Adobe Media Encoder

    Hello Forum,
How do I get media encoder to export a H264 with a .mov extenstion rather than a .mp4 extension?
    Mac OS 10.8.5
    Media Encoder 7.2.0
    Thanks all!

    Hi TacoRye,
Thanks for posting on Adobe forums.
Please choose Format QuickTime in Export Settings to get .mov files.
If you do not have QuickTime Player installed on the system please install from this link
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime
Please update if this works out for you.

  • CS6: Premiere exports MXF Op1a (mpeg based) but Media Encoder does not.

As a company we use several local machines with a full installation of CS6.
Premiere Pro exports in our broadcast format (MXF Op1a - mpeg based - Long GOP - 50Mb - Top Field First - etc...) still Media Encoder does not.
They we both installed in the same procedure, full installation of CS6. MXF presets are present on both directories (Premiere and Media Encoder).
ME simply doesn't recognize "any know exporters" even if I force a preset, when it comes to MXF.
We have to import every single video into Premiere to export as MXF. It's difficult to create an effective workflow this way.
Any thoughts on why is this happening?
    NOTE:
    - Updated twice all machines - first to 6.0.3, now to 6.0.5 = no result
    - Copied presets from a working trial installation = no result
    - Microsoft based OS core i7 with 12Gb RAM, 3Tb HD and Nvidia Quadro 4000
    Regards, RicardoM

I've read a lot of suggestions towards similar issues. None worked.
    - installed codec packs incluiding different mpeg variations = no result
    - copied /common preset files from premiere to AME = no result
    - copied and replaced the full directory of AME from another working AME (with MXF exporter) = no result
    - re-installed CS6 = no result
    - updated CS6 twice = no result
    - added MXF Preset zip file available in the official Adobe support (although it refers to mac presets) = no matter... no result
I really don't know what else to do.
It's difficult to accept suggestions like "format c and start over" cause of the impact on the production room, so I really need more options other than the extreme ones...
    Any ideia Jim Simon?
    Thanks in advance!
BTW: Must add that in all processes above, MXF exporting was allways possible in Premiere, just not in AME.

  • Choppy and lagging playback from videos/animations exported from Cs4 (Media Encoder)

    Hello!
I got Creative Suite 4 (Production Premium). I usally uses AE and PrePro, saves the project and uses Media Encoder to export the footage. My filmcrew got a Sony HDR-200 (I think) who saves in AVCHD, m2ts full HD.
First I edit the clip with Sony Vegas... Cut the things I do not want.
Then, I applie visualFX with After Effects and sometimes Premiere Pro. Saves the project. Fire up Adobe Media Encoder and selects "add After Effects Composition".
    I always render in:
    H.264
    HDTV 1080p 25fps
    PAL 16:9 Ratio
    The Video was/is original i:
    Sony AVCHD (m2ts)
    1080p 25fps
Everything seemes ok. No error messages or anything like that.
Next step, I import the footage (from any Cs4 application) into Vegas, Movie Maker or whatever software.
The whole clip, is "choppy". Frames mixes together. The footage is choppy even in Windows Media Player, Winamp... Not just Vegas...
Example: My actor is going to stand up from the couch. While rising, several frames from when he sat and when he has risen appears. The mixes, last ca. 2 frames each.
Summary: All Cs4 products exports choppy video... Media Encoder or not... Same problem.

  • Media encode CC2014.2 stops while exporting a premiere project

    Hello everybody,
I have a huge problem with media encoder CC 2014.2.
Every time I want to export a premiere project, media encoder stops : "media encoder CC 2014.2 as encountered a problem and needs to close".
I reinstalled everything on a clean and new SSD but the problem is still the same.
    My computer specs are :
    Windows 8.1 pro
    4770k
    32Gb RAM ddr3
    MB : asus z87 deluxe
    780ti
    SSD crucial 512Gb
Does somebody have encoutered that kind of bug ?
    Thanx

Last time I tried that, I was not even able to start encoding - receiving an error message from Adobe Media Encoder - which is what led someone in this forum to suggest to download and install WME, which worked then with the same edit of the project.  Now I get all the process going on (with WME), no error message, but as explained : under Vista x64 the final output won't play, and under XP, it will but with no sound.
What's funny now is that I can encode with H.264 (with Adobe MEdia Encoder), it plays out of sync on my Quick Time, but once uploaded to You Tube, it is perfectly synchronized.
I read something on another forum about this syncing problem suggesting to downgrade Quick Time (which I haven't tried yet) - apparently a suggestion by Adobe.

  • Why will After Effects not export to Media Encoder?

After Effects cannot export to Media Encoder. I've tried to queue it within After Effects (nothing happens,) I've tried to import it from within Media Encoder (it hangs on a loading dialogue forever,) and I've tried restarting my computer. All to no avail. I've also tried multiple AE projects. And yes, I've made sure I am viewing the queue in Media Encoder. Any clues?

    Ok.
Running Adobe Creative Cloud, latest versions on both After Effects and Media Encoder. As for render settings, I never get to that part. When I export to render in Media Encoder, nothing happens. Here are the settings for one of the compositions and projects I was trying to export:

I freshly installed Windows 7 and the CC-Apps PremierePro, After Effects, Media Encoder, Photoshop and Speedgrade.
When I try to export any video from premiere to the media encoder premiere crashes without any error message. The problem is not the project: I created several new projects and even if I only have one Graphic-File/Bars/h264-video in the timeline that I try to export: premiere crashes. When I export directly from premiere it works, but there is no chance to go via media encoder. The strange thing is that I can export from after effects to the media encoder without any problem...
Second Problem: Encore crashes also. Everytime I try to build a DVD => Encore crashes
    Does anybody have an idea?
