Heading level tag in mini-TOC

Is there a way to change the tags used in the mini-TOC for TC3? My docs are linked from FrameMaker and they don't use Heading 1, Heading 2, etc, so this handy tool is not working for me. Thanks for any help!

For many reasons, I suggest changing your mappings so that they map to h1, h2, etc.
This should get your miniTOCs back into shape.

  • Don't heading levels convert to TOC?

    I just upgraded to RH7 from RH5. I'm on XP Pro 2002 SP 2, RH
    for Word v 7.0 Build 145. I've got a Word file I'm converting to
    FlashHelp. The word file has headings H1 H2 H3 tagged. I swear, in
    RH5 (it's been a while) when I imported, the topics broke at the
    headings and arranged themselves according to heading level; the
    TOC was indented to three levels where necessary and followed the
    chronological order of content in the Word file. Now in RH7 all the
    topics come in and don't appear in the TOC indented according to
    heading level. Was I hallucinating? I'd check RH5 myself but it no
    longer works on my cptr and Adobe won't support it. Last, I can't
    get the TOC to keep my topics in chronological order. My section A
    has only one level; my section B has three levels, etc and RH wants
    to put all the single-level topics together. Is there a way I can
    get my conversion and my TOC to behave the way I swear it behaved
    in RH5?

    You either use
    the Export PDF function in the Tools panel on Adobe Reader
    do the conversion online after signing in to the https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf site

  • RH 9, MS Word, Heading styles messing up my mini TOC

    I must be doing something wrong. :-)
    I have done many Word to RH projects. All the same look and feel. I include a mini TOC at the top of my topics, (which are actually book chapters). Now, however, my mini TOCs have no contents in them, and the reason is that my headings are not called "Heading 1, Heading 2" etc, which is what RH requires for mini TOCs. My heading styles came in as "WD_Heading1, WD_Heading2" etc.
    I do not know why they came in like that. I imported the Word files as I always do. I tried renaming the headings styles, but no go.
    What up wit this? Please advise. Thanks!

    Yes, I was doing something wrong.
    During import of the MSWord doc, I forgot to make sure each Word Document paragraph style was mapped to a RoboHelp Style in the drop-down list. A simple step.
    You know, I don't remember having to do this before. I believe the Robohelp style (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.) was selected by default. Perhaps because I was using a previous proejct as a template.
    Well I am happy to answer my own question for anyone else who runs into this problem. It is not too gratifying, however, as it feels like scoring a goal on your own goalie.

  • Heading level hierarchy errors when topics are in TOC more than once

    I have discovered that the hierarchy in the Heading levels in
    the Printed Documentation will differ from than in my online help
    table of contents hierarchy, and that the problem is due to topics
    that are intentionally in the TOC more than once.
    For example, in chapter 5 of a particular help system the
    hierarchy should be:
    Heading 1 < Chapter 5 title from top-level book>
    Heading 2 <title of second level book>
    Heading 3 <title of topic that appears under second-level
    book>*
    What I actually get is:
    Heading 1 < Chapter title from top-level book>
    Heading 2 <title of second level book>
    Heading 4 <title of topic that appears under second-level
    book>*
    * This same topic appeared in an earlier chapter. In that
    chapter it was really at a Heading 4 level.
    Due to company styles, etc. we use a numbering system at the
    headings and in the TOC, so instead of
    5
    5.1
    5.1.1
    I erroneously get
    5
    5.1
    5.1.1.1
    This type of hierarchy issue appears multiple times in this
    particular document (which I inherited by the way.)
    Other than restructuring the document to not reuse topics in
    different places in the TOC, is there a solution or a workaround
    for this problem?
    What I am doing so far, is generating the Print Documentation
    one chapter at a time. As long as a topic is not reused with the
    same chapter, my hierarchy of heading levels is maintained;
    otherwise, it is not. Then I can put the chapters back together
    after fixing the few places that still have heading level problems.
    This however, will be quite cumbersome as this document is
    translated into nine other languages.
    I am using RoboHelp X5 for Word / Word 2003 for the source
    and most of the translations; RoboHelp Asian Edition, Simplified
    Chinese / Word 2003 for the Chinese translation. The heading level
    hierarchy error occurs in both versions.

    >> AF: I've commented in sections...
    Without Maintain Heading Levels, RH will apply heading levels
    to the books and then the topic levels will get bumped down. So a
    top level book will be Heading 1 and the Headings in the topic will
    get bumped down to 2, 3 and 4 etc. If then you have another book
    one level down so that it gets Heading 2 applied, the same topic
    but under the level two book would then get 3, 4 and 5 applied.
    That is not the original problem but hopefully we are agreed
    that is how things work on that.
    >> Yes - that is the expected behavior. When it didn't
    happen as expected, that's what led me to the discovery of the
    cause of the problem (topic reuse).
    Your problem was that firstly Heading 3 got bumped to Heading
    4 if the same topic was inserted into the TOC twice. I assume it
    was OK in the first instance, or is it that when you add it twice
    it goes wrong everywhere?
    >> Your assumption is correct. First occurrence is
    correct. Second, third, and fourth (yes - there is one topic that
    is used 4 times! ) are not correct based on TOC hierarchy.
    On the numbering, nothing surprises me. If you look at my
    site you will see that for RH HTML, i gave up on getting it right.
    I have had many queries on this and more than a few people have
    indicated they will work on the problem and get it working. I'm
    still waiting. There are many posts about outline numbering
    problems. Has anyone got it working satisfactorily?
    >> I don't really have numbering problems. The
    numbering is following the RoboHelp-generated hierarchy and the
    .dot template that I apply. It's just that the RH-generated
    hierarchy and its heading levels don't correspond to the "real"
    hierarchy because of the reuse issue.
    I have seen various Word gurus maintain that numbering has
    not worked entirely satisfactorily since Word 2! Also enough posts
    to convince me this is a Word issue, not a RH issue.
    If you want to create a new project and knock something up
    that demonstrates this problem, by all means zip it up and send it.
    I'll assume it will be a small project and zip to less than 5mb. If
    more, contact me first.
    >> Unless you have RoboHelp X3 Asian Edition,
    Simplified Chinese, there is really no need. I plan to either avoid
    the reuse issue in the source, or build the print doc in sections
    which is easy enough in RoboHelp X5 for the non-Chinese languages.
    It is in the older Asian edition where the problems are compounded
    by the omitted reuse topics. If you do have RoboHelp X3 Asian
    Edition, Simplified Chinese and want to experiment, I can send you
    a cut-down version of the project. Don't feel obligated though;
    unless you can read Chinese (I can't) it is very tedious to work
    with.

  • Mini TOC does not appear

    RoboHelp 9.0.0.228/Server 9
    WebHelp Pro
    Single Project (upgraded from RH x5 to RH9)
    The mini TOC seems to work in some, but not all topics.  In the topics where it is not working, the mini TOC placeholder appears in the Design veiw, but when the topic is viewed (eye glasses icon) or the entire project is generated and viewed, the mini TOC is not there.
    Any ideas why not?
    Thank you,

  • Modifying the Mini TOC Placeholder

    I am on a mission to change the way the Mini TOC looks on our WebHelp pages. Maybe somebody out there has done this, or can help us understand the CSS classes better so we can attack the problem ourselves.
    First, we want the TOC to be inside a bordered box. Piece of cake. Peter Grainge's suggestion to throw it into a table cell works perfectly.
    Then, we want a graphic to the left of the caption. It won't be a white box with an X in it, but below shows the rough location. I've kinda sorta done this by adding a column to the left of the one that holds the MiniTOC, but the alignment isn't pretty, and it causes a conflict with our next goal.
    The next goal is to have a two-tone Mini TOC, as in the example below.
    Finally, we want to push the word "Show" or "Hide" flush right against the right margin of the cell while keeping the caption (in this case, "QuickLinks") to the left. I have been successful with adding a bunch of spaces after the caption, followed by the words "Click to" but it's not clean, and would require me to change the number of spaces manually on each page, depending on how long the links are.
    Has anybody hacked into their Mini TOC before to manipulate it similar to what we are looking for? We're having a rough time even editing the CSS styles to work the way we want, and are hoping there's a simpler way to attack the problem. Thanks.

    Don Quixote, is that you?
    Seriously...RH has this placeholder function locked in pretty tight (I tried adding an image inside the code and RH crashed!).
    We use a div element to place the placeholder at the top right of the topic:
    div#navright {
    float: right;
    padding-top: 0px;
    padding-right: 8px;
    padding-left: 10px;
    padding-bottom: 10px;
    width: auto;
    margin-left: 15px;
    margin-bottom: 15px;
    margin-top: 5px;
    Then the topic gets this:
    <?rh-cbt_start condition="Online" ?><div id="navright">
    <?rh-placeholder type="minitoc" ph-style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:8pt;font-weight: normal;font-style: normal;text-decoration: none;"
      list-type="none" caption="In This Topic" caption-style="font-family:Arial;font-size:8pt;font-weight: normal;font-style: normal;text-decoration: none;"
      margin=";;0px;0px" min-heading-level="h2" max-heading-level="h2" flags="3" ?>
    </div><?rh-cbt_end ?>
    You could try adding background-color and border-color styles to the div, and then adding highlighting to the placeholder caption in the UI (this might get you the two-tone you want, not sure). As to the image and right-aligned link, you and Sancho might have better luck at the next windmill.
    Good luck,
    Leon

  • Is it is possible to identify Heading level, Title, Header, Footer, Paragraph in PDF using SDk or Script

    Hi Friends
                 Is it is possible to identify Heading level, Title, Header, Footer, Paragraph in PDF using SDK or Script

    In an ordinary PDF there is nothing to identify, the information does not exist. Just text at locations, the structure is entirely in the mind of the viewer. For tagged PDFs, yes. This requires a very detailed knowledge of the PDF spec and tagging, and writing a plug-in in C/C++. And of course it requires that the tagging is correct. Since tagging is often added automatically, it is often useless for real structural info. Who thought it was a good idea to tag automatically...!

  • Merged projects - topic-level tag problems in sub-projects

    I am working on an extensive help file in RoboHelp HTML. It
    consists of a master project and 15 sub-projects. Each of the sub
    projects have topic-level conditional tagging, and when each
    sub-project is compiled, the topic-level tagging works and the CHM
    is correct in regards to what topics are included and excluded.
    However, when I compile the master project, it seems that RoboHelp
    disregards ALL topic-level tagging in the sub-projects. So, the CHM
    for configuration A includes all sub-project topics for
    configurations A, B, C, and D. The topics are in the TOC and they
    appear as search results. We are not using an index, but binary
    index is checked in the project settings.
    The same four configurations in the sub-projects are also in
    the master project, but the conditional tag expressions aren't
    word-for-word identical. Should they be?
    Note that the content-level tagging within the sub-projects
    DOES work when the master project is compiled. For some reason, the
    problem is isolated to the topic-level tagging.

    I think I'm the one causing the problem - I don't think I
    read your initial post carefully enough. Sorry...
    I can't figure out how this is happening. When you merge
    .chms, you have already compiled the 'slave' projects. The link
    from the master TOC points to a slave .chm - which you say is
    working correctly when opened on its own.
    Since the slaves and masters are compiled independently,
    there shouldn't be any interaction between the master and slave
    build expressions - and if there is one, it should be excluding
    more topics, not including more topics!
    The typical problems people have with merged .chms seem to be
    TOC issues (does the master TOC show up, or just the slave
    project's TOC?) and path issues (the master can't find the slaves).
    However, I did see one or two posts on this forum where the master
    was pointing to old copies of the slave .chm - could you have a
    "complete" .chm lurking about?
    BTW, according to RH help, binary indexes are fine in merged
    HTMLhelp. Binary TOCs are not. I don't think you have this problem,
    because the symptoms are different, but you could take a look - the
    setting is in the HTMLHelp Generate wizard. Click the [Advanced]
    button on the first wizard page and look on the TOC tab to make
    sure Binary TOC is not checked.
    You might also do a quick search on the General
    Info/HTMLHelp/RH for HTML forums for "merged .chm" - you might
    recognize a symptom in someone's post that I didn't catch.
    Good luck,
    Elisa

  • Edit Mini TOC style

    In our project we use a specific style to present a minitoc
    on a page. With Robohelp 7 we had to manually make bookmarks and
    hyperlinks. The minitoc seems a perfect improvement. Well, maybe
    not so perfect.
    I want to use the same styles as we used in robohelp 7 in the
    minitoc, but it seems that Robohelp 8 decides the font and
    bulleting style for me.
    Does anybody know if it is possible to link a level in the
    minitoc to a style from the stylesheet?

    Hi,
    MiniTOC style is controlled by the MiniTOC Options dialog,
    which is launched on inserting/editing a MiniTOC Placeholder. To
    control fonts and bulleting styles from the CSS, you may change the
    properties of li, ul(For bulleted Mini TOC) and ol(For numbered
    Mini TOC) as per your requirement, and just check "Use Style from
    Topic" check box present in the MiniTOC options dialog.
    With this check box checked most of the styling properties
    will be taken from CSS itself.

    Well, I found something that worked for me.
    I found a blog post by Ryan Nielsen and it included these instructions:
    Original Post
    Article Text:
    Reporting Services - Unable to Connect to Remote Server Error After a restart reporting services, you may come up with Unable to Connect to Remote Server Error when navigating to the web access. Typically an issue like this occurs in the RSWebApplication.config. This file is located in the ReportManager Folder (Example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportManager) I checked the <reportserverurl> and <reportservervirtualdirectory> tags were the same as before.
    <ReportServerUrl></ReportServerUrl>
    <ReportServerVirtualDirectory>ReportServer</ReportServerVirtualDirectory>
    <ReportBuilderTrustLevel>FullTrust</ReportBuilderTrustLevel>
    After changing the ReportServerUrl tag to contain both the server URL and the virtual directory, it could then connect to the remote server.
    <ReportServerUrl>http://Server/ReportServer/</ReportServerUrl>
    <ReportServerVirtualDirectory></ReportServerVirtualDirectory>
    <ReportBuilderTrustLevel>FullTrust</ReportBuilderTrustLevel>
    No IP addresses were added or was any IIS settings that I could tell. Leaving the ReportServerUrl tag blank should allow for it to find the server locally.
    End Article Text
    I did this and restarted the Reporting Services service and it now works without a problem.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • Mini-Toc from Linked FM document (FM10 / RH9)

    Hi all,
    I'm a newbie in the use of RH, BUT, I'm trying hard
    My question might be quite similar to this one : http://forums.adobe.com/message/5301262#5301262
    Is there a way, in a RH project created from Linked FM files, to insert a mini-TOC in a document ? Of course, all the mini-TOCs I've inserted in RH have disappeared when I updated my links with FM.
    From what I understood in the topic I mentioned, there seems to be no way to do this. BUT, hopefully, has someone found a solution to this problem ?
    Thanks a lot
    All the best

    The only solution from the Rh side is to insert your mini TOC on the header of your Rh master page...
    Unfortunately, you may not want the mini TOC above your Topic Title, but that's the only way (I know of to get the content to appear automatically.
    Putting it into your Rh topic manually will either restrict your ability to update the Fm content (bad...) or require post processing of the Rh topic after each update (bad...)
    My preferred solution: create the mini TOC within your Fm file itself using cross refs, or plugins (Rick Quatro has a FrameScript solution, IIRC) so that the content exists in Fm when you update the Rh project.

  • How to preserve Heading levels

    Hii,
    Is there any method by which we can preserve the heading
    levels of the topics. I mean, presently all the headings from my
    word document get converted into a different topic, irrespective of
    their level (heading1, heading2, heading3, etc.) I want that all
    the headings below level 1 be treated as the part of the same topic
    yet they show up in the table of contents (while auto creating the
    TOC). I hope you get me..

    System Administration>Support>Version is one way.
    Should display your version as 6.0.2.2.0 depending on what service pack, patch, and hotfix you are on.

  • PO number prints only if it is at header level not for item level

    Hi All,
    I am not able to print the PO number in my order acknowledgement and COA printout when I enter the PO number in the sales order at item level of only. It prints fine when it is at the header level.
    Please assist.
    Thank you,
    Shanu Jain

    Hi,
    BSTKD Field in the VBKD is dependent on two things . IF the Header PO Number is same as the Item number if u change at Header level it will be changed at all items level also. If both are diff then if u change the PO Number at Header level it will change PO numbers of the Items which is having same value as Header Po Number otherwise it wont change the Item PO Number .
    Ex " Order Number 1000 is having PO Number at Header Level is PO1. And the sales order is having Item 010 and 020.
    IF Item 010 and 020 is having PO1 at item level if u change the value of PO1 at header Level if will be applicable to items 010 and 020.
    If Item 010 is having Po Number PO1 and 020 is having PO2, if i change value of PO number at header to PO3 then it will change Item 010 PO Number to PO3 and Item 020 PO Number will be same as PO2.
    Try to Take The VBKD - BSTKD where Item Number POSNR is blank that means Header PO Number .
    IF u want Item Po Number then pass the item number in POSNR and get it.
    Regards,
    Srinivas.
