Headphone jack on front panel

For a while now (since I installed parallels &/or leopard I think) I have a very quiet sound coming from the front headphone jack (by quiet I mean I can just hear the last 2 clicks on the system volume control).
The headphones I am using work fine in the back line-out jack but the sound at the front is barely audible. I have looked at the midi preferences but the master channel is set low and greyed out - is this the issue and if so how can I edit that? I'm not sure because it's the same for the line-out on the back and the sound is normal there.
I'm guessing it's probably a software issue as there is some sound coming out but can't find a fix anywhere??
Thanks in advance for your time.

Dear Chris:
This is not the answer you are looking for, but it may be an alternati've for you. I bought the i/o bay on EBAY for $40.00. The bay was bought originally bought from Auzentech and is identical to Creative's. It took me about two weeks to find it, but I works 00%. If you buy a part from a manufacturer, I would think it will be between $0-$20 and a lot of your time soldering or tinkering. Again, Ebay may not be to your liking, but it is better than $00 for a new one.

  • Extending Mic & Headphone connection to Front Panel Ja

I have a SB Li've 5. (SB000) and I need to extend the "Mic In" Jack and "Line Out" Jack (for Headphones) connectors to the front panel jacks. Are the connector pins included in the "Audio Extension" (AUD_EXT) connector? If so, which are the pins? If not, how can this be done. I have seen the information about the connector on:http://img463.imageshack.us/my.php?image=li'vepins0jh.gif?However,?I still do not know how to make the connections. All help appreciated. Thanks,?Mike.

I do not know what the pinouts are, but the Front panel IO connect into the lower right corner of your motherboard. You also have an F_audio1 in the lower  left. You should be able to follow these wires. Also, I would install the card, leaving the wires connected to the mobo and not mess them first to see if you still have full functionality. You might not need to mess with them.

  • Microphone and headphone jacks on front of PC - not responding with new X-Fi sound c

I recently installed a new X-Fi sound card. I hooked up my speakers into the rear jack on the back of the PC, the spearkers work fine. However, when I plug in my mic and headphones using the two front jacks, I get no sound at all, and my mic does not work. Could anyone explain to me why this is? And how I would go about resolving this? All the rear jacks work fine, but the two front jacks for the mic and phones do not work at all.

Not sure enb4 - you can order an X-Fi card as an option at time of purchase, in which case the front panel connectors?are available. If you?subseuqently install?a new/different card, I'd assuming you can then use the same ribbon cable - the problem is?you can't purchase the cable as an aftermarket accessory. I know the Dell X-Fi card is slightly different from the true Creative original X-Fi, so maybe you're right in that the front panel only works with the Dell installed version - which fortunately you also can't buy as a separate item?as apparently isn't a good unit anyway ?

  • K9VGM-V with no audio on front headphone jack

A week ago I put this MoBo in a eMachines Model T6216 that the original MoBo went up in smoke. I just now plugged the headphones into the front panel headphone jack and it doesn't work. When i go to the control panel and look in the sound tab it says that the headphones are not plugged in. Do I have a bad MoBo or is there a problem with my drivers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can manually disable the Rear Panel Jack that your speakers are plugged into via the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Simply klick onto the image that represents the corresponding audio jack.

Also when I check the audio devices the headphones doesn't show up when they are plugged in.
As was stated before, AC/97 front panel wiring is not 100% compatible with the Intel HD Audio/Azalia standard.  Disabling Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection of course has the consequence that your headphones are not automatically detected.  Stuff that is not detected do not appear as connected.  However, disabling the detection feature is the only way to get your front panel jack to work in spite of the incompatibility between AC/97 and Azalia specifications.

  • Front panel audio wont mute rear audio when headphones are in.

    Hello,
As the title says my sound isn't muted on the rear speakers when I plug in my headphones. The front panel audio didn't work at first, it said in the manual to disable front panel jack detection. Once I did this the audio came through the front panel, but is not muted at the rear, so I have sound from both the headphones that are plugged into the front and the speakers that are in the rear. The option to mute the rear output when headphones are plugged in is enabled, the speakers are plugged into the green jack, the rear speakers are set to stereo line out and the front is set to headphones.
Can anyone help, at the moment I have to keep unplugging the speakers to listen through the headphones without disturbing anyone else, which with the placement of my computer is not convenient.

    Hello,
I have used the link, but the drivers just install the same one I already had (both the rar and the exe do this), even if I remove the previous drivers via programs and features. Unfortunately the problem still persists, I am really stumped as to what is causing it. I am not sure if I have AC'97 or HD Audio connectors on the front of the case, as the case came with absolutely no documentation. I have provided a link to the manufacturers website if that could help in anyway.

  • Trouble with front panel adapto

Hi, I have a Sound Blaster Audigy (SB0090) and my front panel were connected to the motherboard because of the on-board sound card. I disconnected it from the mobo and reconnected it right in the sound card (it's the male connector from this picture: http://www.frontx.com/cpx57p2.gif). Ok, now that it's plugged in, my sound works perfect except that when I connect my headphones in the front panel, the sound keeps going to the speakers and not the headphones.
I'd like some help with this issue. Thanks.

    KingAlex,
There has been a lot of discussion about connecting SoundBlaster cards to the front case. A search of the forums for e.g., "front panel headphones" will bring up a long list of messages. This thread will get you started. I don't recommend any of the hacks because if done improperly, they might damage your card. The simplest and safest method is to plug into the rear LineOut/Headphone jack and route this inside the case to the front panel through an unused open card slot. Use a stereo Y-splitter if you also want to connect speakers.

  • Z87-G43 : JAUD1 front panel connector problem

    Hi everyone,
I received this mb two days ago, everything was working fine until i decided to plug my headphones in the front panel jack of my Zalman Z12 plus...
There is like an "underwater" effect that makes the sound pretty bad. The rear jacks work flawlessly.
Any clues ? Any feedbacks ?
    I've tried to :
    - reinstall the latest realtek driver : still
    - use another headset : still
Maybe the mb is faulty, maybe the case is...
    Thanks.

  • X-Fi Titanium Championship Series - Front Panel Broken?

7X-Fi Titanium Championship Series - Front Panel Broken?K Initially, the front panel worked just fine - approximately one week. Sound quality was great, too!
However, after gaming, I removed the headphones from the front panel headphone jack. I noticed after that the panel lights indicating Game Mode and X-Fi functions went blank.
    - I pressed the buttons and they would not relight.
    - I plugged the headphones back into the panel and I still received volume (good quality); however, I no longer could control the volume level using the rotary knob.
    - The buttons still would not relight. Additionally, the front panel no longer recognizes when I have headphones plugged into the jack.
It seems like a hardware issue, but maybe someone else has heard of this happening.
    Please help!!!!!
    With many thanks

  • 4S Headphone jack not working properly - even after replacement

    Hi all,
A friend of mine was going to throw their water damaged 64GB iPhone 4S away so I salvaged it.
The charger port had corroded (main cause for it not turning on - flat) so I replaced it along with the battery, headphone jack, and front glass/display. It basically works fine and feels like a new phone now.
One issue that persists is the headphone jack is outputting distorted noise when music etc is playing. I'd noticed this before replacing the jack and its replacement has made no difference. (Replaced jack which is attached to mute/vol keys and top mic - all else of which work.)
The louder you set the volume, the less 'resistance' the distortion seems to have and the music sounds clearer. At the low end of the volume scale there seems to be almost no 'low volume ability' on the phone, ie it's off (move the volume slider just off 0) > it's on and way louder than it should be (clear and fine for about 5 seconds and then distorted/off) > louder with less distortion (also seems to momentarily fix the issue at low volume when increased.)
I have run the music player all day at mid-high volume to see if it would sort itself out with no improvement or worsening. The earpiece, speaker, microphone, airplay, and all buttons are working as they should, it's just when using headphones do I get this crackling.
My thoughts are something is stuffed on the main logiboard, but I'm really hoping that may not be the case. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks for reading : )

  • Sound Blaster X-FI Pci Express Front Panel Not working right Win7

ASound Blaster X-FI Pci Express Front Panel Not working right Win7
    Please read carefully
    Part number Part SB040
    Hello,
I have a fresh install of Win7x64 OEM. First, I want to say that I have "AUTOMATICALLY MUTE SPEAKERS" UNCHECKED under the Headphone detection tab. I have tried "Automatically Enable Headphone Settings" checked or unchecked. No difference.
As soon as I plug in headphones to the front panel connector , the speakers in the mixer say "disconnected" (see below) and the SPDIF becomes the default output. There is no way for me to change this. And there isn't any sound coming from the headphones when plugged into the front panel. (the mic front panel works fine)
I am using the nati've Win7 drivers for the card. Apparently the Win 7 drivers on your site are older than the nati've ones.
This worked fine in Windows XP 32. Any ideas.

Ok guys this is how I fixed the problem on my X-Fi PCI-Express. Open the Creative SB X-Fi Volume panel. Mine is set in game mode and I have 5 vertical sliders for Line-In /Mic, MIDI Synth, Digital-In, and the last one will say one of three things either Digital-In, Microphone, or Mirophone FP. At the top of the?slider there is a tab which brings up a drop down menu. Mine was default set to Digital-In, I switched it to Mirophone FP (tried Microphone first and it worked but the FP sounds better for me) and cranked it all the way up and my problem was solved. Very frustrating one though as there is no documentation that led me to the fix it was just playing around with it till I could figure it out.
I hope this at least helps some of you out.

  • K9N2G Neo Front panel audio not working

I have plugged in various cases and i/o bays into the audio connector on this mb and NONE of them work. Yes I have tried the "disable detection" option with no luck. I am currently trying to use a silverstone fp32 i/o bay that definately supports hd audio but it still doesn't work. I made no wiring mistake as it was a plug and not seperate wires.

What do I have to do to get front panel audio that was promised with this board?
edit: you know I have NEVER had trouble with AC97 yet I have NEVER gotten HD audio to work properly EVER

It doesn't follow AC97. But it is a Realtec chip, and they often run into problems. For example they'd like their drivers installed while in SafeMode.
Where exactly did the problem come up? Is the HD controller enabled, (BIOS)?
Is this relevant, stolen from the Englizsch only manual:
"When you are playing the first audio source (for example: use Windows Media
Player to play DVD/VCD), the output will be played from the rear panel, which is the
    default setting.
Then you must to select the Realtek HD Audio front output from the scroll list
first, and use a different program to play the second audio source (for example: use
Winamp to play MP3 files). You will find that the second audio source (MP3 music) will
come out from the Line-Out audio jack of Front Panel."
Off: Think this is the first time this board come before my eyes in this forum.

No. There is no mainboard connector. You will find the HD Audio connection on the backside of the Quantum Wave card.
