Anyone have any problem with headphone port? Mine has never worked on my MacBook Pro Mid 2012.  Any fixes/suggestions out there?

  • Headphone port not working - fixable?

the headphone port on my ibook g4 stopped working recently in that sound only comes out through the right ear in all the headphones plugged into it. Is this fixable at all by myself (i.e. is it dirty or something?) or this an expensive technical problem to fix? any answers welcome. thanks.

this would require a lot of work with a soldering iron (if you know exactly what to do) or a logic board swap.
brody is right, there are usb adapters like the iMic that would let you plug in headphones.
you can also get a pair of USB headsets - stereo audio & also has a mic for skype or iChat. The logitecs are all one piece you can't plug anything into them.
but the plantronics separates the connections out, so it's possible to use the usb dongle with any set of headphones or mics that will fit the jacks.
either way would be a cheaper & easier fix

  • My headphone port isnt working

Can anyone help with a headphone port that wont channel sound.  I ran a system diagnostic and got an original message indicating possible audio driver problems.  I believe I may have uninstalled the needed driver for my headphone port.

    Hey jusmile_,
Here is an article for you that will help you troubleshoot this issue:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    No sound through stereo headset
Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.
Check the volume setting. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down button on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are trying to listen to music and cannot hear any audio, make sure that the music on iPhone is not paused. Try squeezing the headset microphone to resume playback. Additionally, from the Home screen you can choose iPod > Now Playing, then tap Play.
Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on the computer that you are syncing the iPhone with (songs purchased from the iTunes Store using earlier versions of iTunes won't play).
Try another Apple headset (some third-party headsets require an adapter to be used with original iPhone).
Try a different song or video.
Check to see if the iPhone alert sounds or other iPhone sound effects exhibit the same audio issues.
Disconnect the headset from the iPhone and see if sound comes from the built-in speaker.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Braden

  • No sound from iPhone 5 headphone port stopped working

No sound from iPhone 5 headphone port stopped working

    Try a restart.
If no effect, then try a reset.
If no effect, then try a restore from backup.
If no effect, then try a restore as new.
If no effect, likely a hardware issue, and you should schedule an appointment at a local Apple store.

  • SRW2048 Serial Port - Never works!

I have three SRW2048 switches and I am desperately trying to use the INCLUDED serial cable and connect to my laptop but it will not work at all.  What is the problem?  Did they not include the correct cable?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Also make sure that the serial port speed sets to 38400. Most of the serial port defaults to 9600.

  • My headphone port only works through one ear, is there an easy fix?

Hi, I have always been careful to not leave my headphones plugged in when I'm not using my iPod (classic), but yesterday for some reason no music will play through the right headphone. I have tried three different sets of headphones and it's the same will all of them so it has to be the iPod, is there an easy fix at all? if i have to have it fixed does anyone know how much it might cost?
    Thanks, Lauren.

I don't think it's possible anymore. I'm mildly surprised you were able to keep podcasts in regular playlists this long - I thought this option disappeared back with iOS7.
I do share your pain. I've finally grown used to having the podcasts in a separate app, but I still don't like it.

  • TS1394 headphone port not working

how can I see if I am updated on my version of ios?

Your Title and question are quite different, so I will addres the question.
To see if you are up to date on your OSX, click on the Apple logo in the menu bar (upper left) then from the menu that drops down click software update. This should bring up a progress bar as it looks thru your system for items that may need to be updated. After it runs, it will come up with a window of things that need to be updated, or it will come saying that your software is up to date.
If it comes up with a long list of updates, it is best to do them one at a time, just uncheck all but the one you want to install, and clcik install. After it installs software uodate will run againn, just repeat the process untill there are none left. Message your software is up tp date)
    Hope this helps.

  • I've got a 7 year old 30gb video ipod and the headphone port no longer works! Please help :)

I've got a 7 year old 30gb video ipod and the headphone port no longer works.
I went to the Apple shop and they said it is now vintage and they can't fix my baby they offered me 10% to trade her in for a new model...
what else can I try to save her?  I've tried cleaning and wiggling and restoring. Everything looks and feels ok.

I've just found 'iPod Dock Connector Headphone Jack' on ebay it as an adapter that will connect my earphones via the wide ipod port better than 10% of something new

  • I cannot hear any songs or movies from my laptop speakers - the headphone port works and a red light is showing? The output sound settings are showing as digital optical only? Any ideas :)

I cannot hear any songs or movies from my laptop speakers - the headphone port works and a red light is showing from the port? The output sound settings are showing as digital optical only? I used the headphones in the laptop for the first time yesterday and have had this problem ever since. Any ideas

The internal switch in the audio output port is stuck.  Try inserting the earphone plug a few times.  If no success, try jiggling a tooth pick inside in order to trip the switch.. If still no success, have the technicians at the Apple store genius bar do it for you.
    Ciao.

  • My headphone port is not working anymore, i have a new ipod touch

I have a new ipod touch, recently my headphone port began to have many problems, first there where funny noices and now it doesnt work at all. I try with new head phones, and as well with 3 different type of speakers and it doesnt work as well.
    I have IOS 8.2

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.

  • HT2494 the sound won't work on my Macbook pro  the headphone port actually has a red light coming from it

Can not get sound on my Computer.  The headphone port actually has a red light coming from it.  Help

Insert a headphone jack and remove it and see if the light goes out. The red light indicates the switch didn't switch from head phone to your Mac's speakers. Some folks have actually used a match stick to undo the switch.

  • Logitech headphones will not work in USB port?

I have a headset in the mic port which works ok, but I am trying to upgrade to a Logitech headset which plugs into a USB port and I cannot get it to work.
Am I expecting the impossible? Do mics only work in the little round mic jack?

I have the same issues, headset worked fine up until 2 days ago when it just stopped working which was after I did the latest update on my mac. I bought a new headset today and this doesn't work either, the headset doesnt show up under system pref / sound at all.

  • Headphones jack not working with all headphones

I recently experienced a problem when my headphones stopped working on my xperia z1 from one moment to the next. At first I thought the cord must have got cut, but the headphones were relatively new. Then I tried them on my laptop and they were working. However, when I used a friend's original xperia earphones, they worked on my phone. Also, radio does not recognise my headphones  either.
I cleaned the jack port, cleared all cache for apps and cleared data from smart connect but nothing changed.
Any idea what the problem might be?
    Thanks.

my guess is whilst you were at uni your phone OS must have updated. I use to be able to use any head phones till I updated one day and ever since never worked again taking a 2 ring plug..
I think The idiots at sony have changed the system to only support a 3 ring jack plug. Why I don't know. But all I know is that I want to find these people and slap the crap out of them with their stupid ideas and pure inconvenience
