Back after a brief absence, things look a little bit different.
I'm trying to take a 16 minute mini dv video and compress it for use on the web. I'm interested in any suggestions you may have on settings for the video and audio tracks. I've tried using Sorenson 3 (15 frames, key frames set to automatic, 320 x 240) for video and IMA 4:1 (mono) for audio. The resulting video looked great but the file size came in at about 255 Mb.

Thank you for the replies. Everyone was correct about the jack, interface, and phasing problems. I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work. I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic. When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones. This actually helped. I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems. I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac. I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed. Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio.

My daughter gave me this nano touch 6th gen- I thought it was a battery, now you know what you are dealing with here, please type slow- it worked terrifically. I hooked to my netbook while my external was plugged in and the nano flashed something like don't unplug in neon letters and died. During this dramatic death scene, my entire library for I tunes was wiped out. I truly have no idea what happened or if it can even be fixed! Any thoughts or suggestions would be muchly appreciated ( I am afraid to call my daughter- I still struggle with my cell phone and this may send her off the edge!)

Why do I keep getting the message "Unable to connect to Imap server you may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server.

I already tried reducing the maximum number of connections to 1, but I'm still receiving the message. Is there anything else I can do?

Ok, IMAP server almost universally allow multiple connections. Thunderbird as you would have observed uses 5 if they are available. As Airmail suggested, iphones just use more and more until they exhaust the available connections. There is no set maximum option.
However there are other things that can consume connections and some may surprise you.
Anti spam tools such as mail washer
Anti virus programs in their anti spam or anti phishing roles
Web mail.
The wife sharing the same account on her laptop.
That is from the top of my head. So could any of those apply.

It should do. Which Playlist are you trying to re-arrange? Is it one you have created or one of the iTunes fixed ones? (Although it is possible to re-arrange the Recently Added Playlist, I would not recommend it.)

You do not have to partition your drive - Parallels creates a disk image which contains your Windows installation. You do have to exercise anti-virus measures in the Windows partition, although such malware cannot affect the Mac filesystem.

I would appreciate any suggestions you might have. I did not back up my IPhone4 - stupid on my part. It just quit the other day. It is in a coma. I have tried recharging and rebooting to no avail. My greatest concern are several pictures that I cannot replace. Is their an internal sim card that perhaps could be recovered. You may be able to improve the speed with some software work but it could also be your disk or SSD is corrupt or failing.

Hopefully by now your Mac is back to its normal speed. If a hardware repair is indicated take it to an Genius bar at an Apple store for a free diagnosis and estimate of repairs. If it is under warranty or AppleCare they will repair it for free. If not, you can compare their estimate with DIY repairs.

In order for you to solve this problem you have to follow these stept if your running windows:
1'st step is to go into the device manager
2 step is to go to portable devices (it is rught under network adapters)
3 step is to right clic apple iphone and click update drivers
4 step is to brows your drivers from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
After that your itunes will pump up alown and youl see your iphone right there.
