  • Establishing current business process baseline in Solution Manager

    Hello Guru,
We had implemented ECC 5.0 a year ago.
We had used business blueprint SOLAR01, SOLAR02, to document some of the business processes.   We found ourself currently have an incompleted business process blueprint.
We want to use Solution Manager to manage the ECC 6.0 upgrade, how do we establish the current business process baseline?
Is there a tool that will browse through ECC 5.0, and create business process map of what the current business processes that have been implemented, and the configuration objects that have been customized?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Anny

    Hi Anny,
I am afraid there isn't a tool that can help retrospectively build SOLAR01 or SOLAR02 related structure and contents.
The only three possible areas for exploration I can suggest for you to investigate further, are:
    (1) Use of Reverse Business Engineer (RBE)
    (2) Use of SAP TAO to at least build Testing scope retrospectively
    (3) Seek any views from IDS-Scheer on whether they have any plug ins for ARIS that can do a retrospective process mapping
    Best regards,

  • How do I use SE80 to view details of a Front Office Business Process?

    Hello all,
I posted the following question in the ABAP general forum but did no reply was posted. So, I am hoping that experts in this forum may be able to help me with an answer.
I would like to use SE80 (or any other transaction for that matter (except EWBC)) to get details of a Front Office Business Process. By details I mean information about methods, programs and anything else that can help me debug a problem I am having with transaction EC20. I have used transaction EWBC but I cannot get details about programs behind a given step. I get a list of steps and container info. Double clicking on the actual thing does not get me anything, and SE80 does not seem to be able to give me the needed information either, or at least I don't know how to go about it. So, which category, which sub-category or which button will do the job please?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
First of all go to transaction EWFC and enter the right Front Office configuration.Go to the appropriate transaction group containing the button you want to investigate.  Double click it and a new screen will pop up.  On this screen there should be a radio button 'Method'.  Next to this button you'll find a field with the object type.  Copy this type ( eg. PREMISES) to your clipboard and open another modus.
Go to transaction SE80. In the left upper corner, a little under the text 'Object Navigator' there's a button 'Edit object'.  Click this one.  Go to the tab 'Business engineering' and select radio button 'Business object type'.  Fill in the object type from the previous step and you'll find the interfaces, key fields, methods, events etc.
To customize this object you have to create a z-object derived from the main object.  You can add methods, events etc. as you like!
    Kind regards,
    Stijn

  • Business Process: Final Demand Plan Key Figure in the past for APO DP

    Hello APO process experts,
I have a BPX question for APO DP process owners, consultants or gurus:
1.- Have you ever seen in any SAP APO customer, that in their APO DP planning books, they chose or designed to update the Final Demand Plan key Figure in the past closed historical buckets with the Actual Sales?
Meaning that that in the Past closed historical Buckets, Actual Sales and Final Demand Plan, look exactily the same.
Meaning that they create a dynamic Final Demand Plan key figure so to speak, yet they did not choose to create a key figure that also keeps the Final Demand Plan as originally entered.
2.- Would you think that doing the above, without keeping any keyfigure in the planning book that actually shows what the Final Demand Plan was in the Past, is a good practice?
The Demand Planner could still retreive the Final Demand Plan from BI reports, yet, dynamically they could never really see it in the planning book.
3.- Do you think the above dynamic key figure would bias the Demand Planner's behaviour to manipulate the future open Final Demand Plan buckets to enter volumes in order sum to a monthly total, independently of what were the over and underachievements in the past (since they are not really visible to him) ?
I would really like your feedback,
    thanks in advance!
    JD Loera

    Hello Thanks for your feedback.
I agree with your point, and I hope that i still get more feedback from other Business Process Experts.
I am trying to build a case for my client, to challenge the decision of their initial design as this practice is going to hurt the Demand Management process, if what they intend to achieve is a true "unconstrained demand plan"
    Much appreciated

  • How to downloadin Business Process Repository in Solution Manager?

    Hello,
Does anybody know how to download whole Business Process Repository from solution manager?
I know how to download BPR, that are related to project, to excel file, but I want to download all the scenarios, processes are inbuilt to the Solution Manager business blueprint.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks,
    Mahantesh

    Hello Mahantesh,
I suppose that your idea behind this question is that you would like to browse the contents of the BPR. For this specific pupose, SAP will deliver a new web dynpro application with SAP Solution Manager 4.0 SP 12 and the respective stack coming out mid June 2007 which allows you to browse all BPR contents in your SAP Solution Manager system. So you no longer have to create a seperate project and select the contents via F4 value help in SOLAR01 in order to access the contents.
For further updates, please check the news mid June:
    <a href="http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager">http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager</a>
Media Library -> Technical Papers. It will probably be called: "4.0 Support Package Stack <latest stack> [probably stack 12]"
However, please note that an individual download of the entire or partial BPR structures into MS Excel will not be possible.
    Best regards,
    Doreen Baseler

  • Using ARIS process models as the foundation for Business Process Monitoring

    Hello,
Do anyone know if you can use IDS Scheer ARIS process models and the integration between IDS Scheer ARIS and SAP Solution Manager as the starting point for end-to-end Business Process Monitoring (BPM) so that you get the process description/model automatically in Solution Manager BPM and just need to configure the monitoring (more or less that you monitor against the modelled process in ARIS)?
Is there an API for SAP Solution Manager BPM so that non-SAP solutions/systems can be part of the end-to-end process monitoring?
If not, how do you usually integrate non-SAP solutions that are part of an end-to-end process that you want to monitor into SAP Solution Manager BPM, or do you not use Solution Manager BPM for this?
What is the roadmap for SAP around SAP Solution Manager BPM when it comes to non-SAP systems/applications/solutions and the new SAP NetWeaver BPM functionality?
    Regards,
    Markus Johansson

    Hello Markus,
I just paste my answer form the other forum entry Re: Business process management strategy in SAP?
in a nutshell BPM Netweaver is focussing on so called edge-processes (usually
SOA-based and often workflow related). These edge-processes a thought to enhance exisitng core business processes and should provide the fast competitive edge versus competitors. Examples would be also xApps. For this Netweaver provides process modelling tools, where you can get exectuable code through the integration between CE and PI. The monitoring part for these processes is mainly targeting business end-users and business manager.
Business Process Monitoring with Solution Manager focusses on core business processes which are realized with the "conventional", "old" SAP Architecture, e.g. Order-to-Cash or Procure-to-Pay. You get a combination of technical monitors (average response times of transactions, background job runtimes, monitors for IDOC or qRFC processing) and application related monitors (you get more than 200 pre-configured application monitors out-of-the-box like number of overdue customer orders or outbound deliveries or number of deliveries with goods issue posted but no invoice). The target group here is the support organization of the customer, from Basis-Support over application support on IT side to process owner on business department side.
Overview presentations can be found under
    https://service.sap.com/bpm --> Media Library --> Customer Information -->
    "Business Process Monitoring - Part 1 & 2".
    Or look under https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-processmonitoring
In the end BPM Netweaver and BPMon SolMan are complementary for different purposes and different target groups.
    Best Regards

  • 2 Logical Components for 1 Business Process Step

    Hello All,
I'm looking for a way to assign in SolMan --> transaction Solar01 - Tab Structure - Business Process Step, 2 logical components for 1 business step. When creating the business step I have to assign 1 specific logical component to this step. Once I have done this I can only select  the chosen logical component ffor SAP Transactions, configuration object etc.. As my business step is running on 2 different systems I need to find a way to link transactions etc. in the step to the different systems. Is there any way to change this for the Level 3 elements, like it is for level 2 (business processes) where I can choose in the different tabs between all the logical components?
    Thanks in advance
    Ramó

I've seen people use some absolute craziness to get more than three levels. The most extreme being using multiple projects at the highest level (i.e. a project for PTP Accounts Payable). Don't go there.
I personally like to have 1 transaction per process step. Don't use the transaction tab as another process level, use it to better describe the process step (like all the other tabs are uses). It results in a better understanding of the system as you go forward. To do that I make teams break up things they think are one step (this can take some arm twisting, so hit the gym and maybe take a few judo classes).
This allows you to use SolMan in more powerful ways. For instance, if you attach development objects to a step with 5 transactions, you cannot tell which transaction is modified by the development object. However, one transaction per node provides you this link. There are other examples, but basically the "where used" button becomes very useful when you have 1 transaction per node.
Maybe you could provide a specific example of your process and we can think of a better way to collapse it.
    Such as:
    - PTP Non-Merchandise Purchasing
    -- Expense Purchasing
    --- Create Purchase Requisition
--- Create Purchase Order (Assign Vendor & Price)
    --- Send to Vendor
    --- Post Goods Receipt
    --- Perform LIV
    --- Process Payment
Some companies have 6 level processes already defined in models and putting it into SolMan can be a pain for sure. Your naming convention is usually the best route.
    regards,
    Jason
The system role and template work around doesn't apply to your situation.

  • Business Process not initiated

    Hello,
I have implemented a little business process that works in conjunction
    with 2 other systems.
System one sends asynchronously a message to the business process, that
bp transforms the message and sends it synchronously via rfc to the
    system two.
For this situation I have created a business process and a business
scenario, which are all configured properly at least according to the
    checks in the integration designer.
At next I have transfered the scenario to the integration configurator
and configured the business systems. So far there was no problem in
    doing so.
In the end I have 2 configured business systems, 1 business process, 2
receiver determination and 2 interface determinations and 1 receiver
    agreement.
After that I have generated a proxy via sproxy in the business system 1
and called the proxy asynchronously. This call is monitored in the XI
correctly, but it is flagged as "Message scheduled (commit missing)".
Then nothing happens any more. I have checked the workflow engine
(sxmb_moni_bpe) whether something has been received, but this was not
the case. I also checked whether there are 2 identical entries for the
    receiver determination.
Although the CPA cache seems to be ok at the moment according to
transaction (sxi_cache) and the information from the integration
repository, I had some problems today while creating the scenario, it
said "unable to refresh cache content" and the signals in the
repository where red. But right now, everything looks fine except the
fact, that the message from my abap proxy is not routed through
    correctly.
This seems to be very strange, has somebody an idea what the status:Message scheduled (commit missing) actually means?
    Thank you very much,
    Oliver Budde

I trying to design a Business Process. After a success creation of my Business Process, I trying to insert the components and it's work but when a trying to assign any interface or configuration to my components, they don't allowm assign anything because the properties aren't enable...
    Any one already faced it?

  • Down payment process for Poland, new business process or not ?

    Hello,
I'm a little bit confused about implementation down payment process for Poland.
The OSS-notes 818079 and 1007635 describe a solution for this.
How do I have to implement the correct down payment process for Poland ? Do I have to create an extra business process with new sales order type, new billing type, separate calculation procedure, new output type and so on ?
Or is it possible to use existing business processes in sales and distribution for down payment processes ?
    Thanks in advance
    Holger

    hi,
Check the process for down payment processing
The following Customizing settings have to be made for down payment processing:
Settings for the billing plan - To activate the billing plan function, maintain the materials, for which you wish to process down payments, with item category group 0005 (milestone billing). This gives the item type TAO via item type determination. The item type TAO calls up the billing plan function.
You need to implement the following activities in the billing plan for down payments:
Maintain deadline category - This determines the billing rule (percentage or value down payment) for the down payment request. The system assigns billing type FAZ (payment request) defined in the standard system with billing category P. (For the billing type FAZ there is the cancellation billing document type FAS in the standard system).
Maintain the deadline proposal - Use the down payments that are due for the proposed deadlines.
Maintaining a Pricing Procedure with the Condition Type AZWR:
In the standard system the condition type AZWR is delivered for the down payment value already provided but which has not yet been calculated. You must include this condition type in the relevant pricing procedure before output tax.
Enter condition 2 (item with pricing) and the calculation formula 48 (down payment clearing value must not be bigger than the item value) for the condition type AZWR.
Before the condition AZWR you can create a subtotal with the base value calculation formula 2 (net value). If the condition AZWR is changed manually, you can get information on the original system proposal from the subtotal.
Maintain the printing indicator - The pricing procedure can not be marked as a transaction-specific pricing procedure (field Spec.proc.) The condition type AZWR has the calculation type B (fixed amount) and the condition category E (down payment request / clearing).
Maintaining the Billing Document - In the standard system there is the billing type FAZ (down payment request) and the billing type FAS for canceling . The down payment is controlled using the billing category P of the billing type. A billing type becomes a down payment request when the billing category P is assigned. You have to maintain blocking reason 02 (complete confirmation missing) for the billing documents and assign it to billing type FAZ.
Copying control - Copying requirement 20 must be entered in copying control at item level for the down payment request. In the standard system the order type TA for copying control is set up according to the billing type FAZ for the item category TAO.
Copying requirement 23 must be entered in copying control at item level for down payment clearing. In the standard system the order type TA for copying control is set up according to the billing type F2 for the item category TAO.
Financial Accounting settings - A prerequisite for down payment processing is that the account is assigned to the underlying sales document. To do this, change the field status settings in Customizing as follows:
Set reconciliation accounts (transaction OBXR) - For the `received down payments' and `down payment requests' from
the G/L accounts you have selected, you should assign the field status definition G031.
Maintain accounting configuration (transaction OBXB) - For the down payments (posting key ANZ in the standard system) and the output tax clearing (posting key MVA in the standard system), you must maintain the posting key.
You must also carry out a G/L account number assignment for the tax account.
Maintain the posting key (transaction OB41) - For posting key 19, set the sales order as an optional field !!!
Maintain the field status definition (transaction OB14) - For field status variant 0001, field status group G031, set the
sales order as an optional field !!!
Assign the company code to the field status variants (transaction OBC5)

  • Re: What is a Business Process Expert?

    Hello all,
Maybe we should open the discussion a bit beyond a "Human Centric" BPX. The main theme after all IS "The Business Process". There are hundreds, possibly thousands of Business Processes depending upon whether you categorize as micro or macro processes. Any one of these either on a micro/macro level function with or without human beings and may utilize machines that assist or automate value added activities/processes which produce higher value service or products in the age old scenario [input > process > useful output & waste output].
When we talk about Expert or Expertise, we are talking about precise know-how, and narrow domain knowledge wether depth or breadth knowledge.
Referring back to a post by Luis Rincones, regarding ideas and concepts leading to BPX, automation of the business process should be the KEY focus of a BP engineer. Back in the late 80's early 90's, we referred to these BP engrs. as "Knowledge Engineers" and their principal goals were to interview "Experts" in order to extract expert knowledge (sometimes 20+ years of experience) and understand not only the flow of the process, but more importantly the RULES which govern all exceptions and variations encountered within the process, as well as "rules of thumb" in case the RULES don't apply.
This is something which if we are truly to orient our Enterprise SOA architecture towards the goals of BPX mentioned above, will require a common "Rule Based Engine", which lives across all domains of knowledge, Objects, & environments, and works together with the design & development environment for the xAPP (I like to refer to them as "Expert Applications") and thereby enable not only the integration and homogenization of input data (via the technology stack), but also integrate the application of logic via a common rule based engine. In this way, E-SOA can also be enabled on the "useful" outbound process enabling services (actions) which mediate/manage/automate the process back to prescribed operating parameters.
Of course, people can not be eliminated from the process. Lexus factory in Korea back in 2002 operated with approx. 60 or so people, 150 robots, and produced >300 units per day. People were mostly involved in QA and deviation functions.
Automating the Business Process optimizes the output:input ratio and should minimize the waste:useful output ratio. By doing so, the ROI, ROA, and operating margins are maximized and competitive advantage gains against other not so able competitors.
Any one else has a few words on this?

You raise a very important and interesting question regarding whether there is any framework for narrowing down the domain of a Business Process Expert.
There are many frameworks out there:
    http://www.bpmg.org/8omega.php
    http://www.prosci.com/tutorial-design-mod1.htm
    http://www.intel.com/technology/itj/2004/volume08issue04/art11_collaboration/p01_abstract.htm
From my experience, it is beneficial to focus on a critical "life support" process for the corporation.  Many times this can be started at the top level COO for instance, asking what is the # 1 thing which causes issues with customers, collections, services, etc..  One such item is "contract to cash" and specific sub-components of this process such as "unbilled hours" which if corrected prior to billing issuance will result in more accurate Invoices, and collections. An improvement of this nature shortens the cycle time of billing to collection, or hour entry to billing calculation, and with improved accuracy increases cash flow and lowers cost per transaction.
What you are suggesting in terms of Media expert, etc.. is more associated with Roles which are aligned with Solution Scenarios within SAP.  Business Processes may span many roles, and are critical to the application being developed.
I believe this is the purpose of BPM, but would welcome any further comments from colleagues regarding framework.
Please take a look at the following BLOG as well as Lakshmikanth does a very good job explaning the landscape:

  • Business Process Monitoring: restrict authorization to confirm alerts

    Hello Experts,
I am working with Solution Manager's Business Process Monitoring and I am now facing these questions regarding roles and authorizations to allow/forbid alert confirmation:
    - What is the authorization mechanism behind alert confirmation in BPM? Is a specific authorization object involved when pressing the button "Confirm selected"?
    - Is it possible to adjust roles (if no standard role is available) in order to have, for example,
--Role1: give users the authorizations to walk through DSWP transaction, see business processes' alerts and confirm them
--Role2: give users the authorizations to walk through DSWP transaction, see business processes' alerts but NOT allow them to confirm any alert?
    Our Solution Manager version:
SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 (SP22)
    ST-PI 2008_1_700 level2
    ST-SER 701_2008_2 level 6
    ST-A/PI 01M_CRM570
I hope I managed to explain my doubts properly; any help will be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your support,
    best regards
    Paolo

    Hello Paolo,
it is the first time that I hear that request. Can you explain what your use case is? Why would you allow some users to see and analyze alerts but do not let them confirm the alerts if the problem is solved?
As the user/date/time is logged if somebody confirms you have the transaparency who confirmed which alert at what point of time.
I think that currently no such split in authorizations is supported but perhaps you can find something in the securtiy guide.
    Best Regards

  • RED the flag of the Business Process Engine

    Hello!:
    If we access "http://srvprubpoem:50200/rwb",
Component Monitoring-Components- the option Business Process Engine is in RED. There is an "JCO request failed".
Otherwise, if we execute transaction SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING (to see the problems), there is one DUMP with the text "CHECK_FAILED".
The transaction SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING calls the transaction SWFC using the variable SWF_XI_BPM, and here is the other problem.
    Do you know the problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi Alfredo,
Check out SAP note 1052604 - <i>RAISE_EXCEPTION in CHECK_FAILED exception</i>. It seems to give the solution (either a correction or installation of SP13).
