Hello, so today I realized that my iPhone with iOS 6 is frozen on the music. I can get back to the home screen but I can't get the music player to work because its frozen on the w's and will not respond to touch. I would be grateful for any help on this.

Carriers usually will unlock only for current or former customers in good standing (if they provide unlocking at all). The original owner of the phone would be the best one to request the unlocking.
The cost, if any, is determined by the carrier. It's usually free, except if there are remaining contractual obligations or unpaid charges, but some carriers will have a fee regardless.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The buzzing stopped and I have the home screen up again.

It sounds like you have done some great troubleshooting for your iPod nano that is not responding. In this situation, if resetting it did not resolve, I would suggest restoring the iPod back to its factory settings and then sync your content back onto it from iTunes. A simple press on the home button should always get you back to your 'app-menu'. If this is not the case there is a problem. It is possible that your button is broken. Maybe you could try first to install the latest iOS version through iTunes if you haven't done already. Or try to reset your iPhone by pressing the power button a few seconds and then Slide to Power off.

I tried rebooting it by holding down the power and home button it reboots but Still no response to touch. I can't synch with macbook because it asks for password i can't type because screen doesn't work. what do i do to get device working again?

my fingers do not affect the screen period. it asks me to swipe the screen to open, which i can't do. when i restart the phone by holding the home button and power button, it turns on and asks for my passcode which i can not enter.

when i plug it into the macbook pro the laptop tells me it can not access the phone unless i unlock the phone with the passcode, which i can't do because the phone screen will not respond to touch.
