HELP! Are un-synced photos included in iTunes backup?

I mostly chose not to sync my photos on my iPhone 4 with my iTunes on my Mac, always presuming that they were being backed up anyway. I had to do a full restore the other day and when the restore was done, all my music, apps etc are back in place but no photos. I had over 1100 pics and lots of video footage in my iPhone 4 and am now freaking out that these are gone.
So the question is, as my photos were not synced with iTunes, does that mean they were not backed up? I never saw a message about that. If they were backed up (please), where are the backups stored on my MacBook Pro?
Please help!

Thanks for the reply but I've tried a few different restore options and pics are nowhere to be seen.
I've just done a restore from backup again time chosing the older backup which, if the camera roll is included, should have restrored my photos - it didn't.
Then I restored from backup again using the most recent backup and same result - no photos. Even the three pics that I took today were wiped.
So I think I'm goosed - it doesn't appear as if photos are included in the iTunes backup unless you sync your photos first.
Nooooooooooooooooo................!
Setting iCloud auto-backup right now.

  • Problem: not able to sync photo's from iTunes 9.1.1 to my iPhone

In iTunes version 9.1.1 no tab appears with the name 'photo's'. How am I able to upload photo's from my computer to my iPhone? Is it a error in the software or something else? I already removed iTunes from the computer and reinstalled it. It doesn't make any difference.
    Can somebody help me?

I am concerned about that. However, iTunes did sync all photos to the ATV including some of the photos in question before it stopped. There are about 25 photos I imported to get the iPhoto library up to date. Tonight, I will delete the 25 photo's and see if that fixes the problem.
FYI- during the import of the 25 photo's, my wife closed iPhoto prior to ejecting and turning off the camera. I was hoping that was the reason but the 25 photo's all work properly in iPhoto????

  • Photo recovery from itunes backup

    Hi,
Today Apple swapped out my daughters IPhone 4S (for the second time in a week) as it had a repeat of a wi-fi issue. They asked me not to restore the iTunes backup as they think that the settings of the old phone may be causing some sort of firmware issue. There lies the problem, the phone is backed up but the photos and contacts are not sync'd to my computer. Is there anyway of extracting the photos from the backup to my pc without restoring the backup to the phone.
I have checked out a couple of extraction apps but they all want to charge me top dollar unless I just extract 1 photo or one contact at a time !!
    Thanks in advance

Man, that MediaRECOVER worked great from a preview standpoint! I not only saw my previously deleted photos from the last "roll" but also saw additional photos as well from earlier rolls. I wish I had this a few weeks ago...
Anyway, I haven't purchased it yet as I am in process of erase and installing OSX on my laptop again. I may have been able to get the photos from the a target disk mode data pull onto my older mac, but if that didn't work I'll simply use my latest backup file to restore all of my lost photos and use MediaRECOVER to get the photos that I added after the last backup.
    Thanks!!!
PS - For anyone considering using this, make sure you have a media card reader to create a disk image of the flash memory, and don't take any more pictures using that memory until you use MediaRECOVER. The next pictures you take will replace the "deleted" images if you do this.

  • Is there a way to sync photos alphabetically with iTunes 10.7.0

After upgrading to iOS 6 and iTunes 10.7.0 (from 10.6.1.7), my photos are extremely out of order and too jumbled up to even bother looking through. Before iTunes 10.6.3 and 10.7.0, photos were arranged by alphabetical order, not date taken or whatever it is sorted by now.
I adapted to the alphabetical ordering and named all of my pictures so that they would appear in alphabetical order like I wanted them to on my iPod touch 4th generation, and now Apple changes the ordering method so my photos are not in order. Why on earth did Apple suddenly change the method in which photos were sorted after being synced? And furthermore, why is there no option to revert back to alphabetical sorting? They took something that was perfect and made it complete garbage. I have ~10 folders each with upwards of 500 pictures in them, and while the folders are in order, the pictures in them are not and it's frustrating beyond belief.
I can't downgrade my iTunes alone because it won't be compatible with iOS 6, and I can't downgrade both my iOS and iTunes together because then my iTunes Library.itl will not be recognized (does not recognize an iTunes Library.itl made by a newer ver of iTunes), and then my play counts, synced iPod data, and other iTunes info will all be wiped.
This is stupid.. I want to know if there's a way to sort photos alphabetically like they did in the past few versions of iTunes (10.6.1.7 and a bit earlier), because now the 4 gb of photos stored on my iPod is just dead weight.

I just noticed this tonight! I'm kicking myself for updating iTunes! I have well over 30.000 photos and now they are all out of order.
I upgraded to 10.6.3.25 and all the photos are sorted by date now and none of the sub-folders are recognized.
This has happened before and it took them over a year to fix it. I wish they would give us a preference as to how we want our images displayed. The whole photo cache thing is so ridiculous! Mine is up to 11GB right now.

  • Please Help! Ipod syncing and copying with itunes but Ipod shows No Music

I don't know what I am doing wrong, I've got maybe 30 songs in Itunes, I connect the ipod, the ipod shows up in itunes. I have tried the following ways to get music from the library onto the pod
    1. Right Click 'my pod' - select update songs
    2. Top menu File - select songs on my pod
    3. Right Click 'my pod' - select 'options' tick automatically update all songs,
    4. As 3 but selected Manually update songs
In each instance the itunes thing goes through the motion of syncing, copying and updating etc
Then if you click on 'my pod' you can see in itunes all the music is there although you can not click on it or play it but the list is there.
However when I detached the pod it says No Music, No Playlists
    Nothing
I checked the status and the ipod is empty
I don't know what else to do!!
    Please can someone help
    Many Thanks in advance

Your libarary doesn't just appear on any computer you sign into with your appleID.  If your computers are on the same network, you can enable home sharing and access the other computer's library this way.

  • Syncing photo library and itunes

I don't even know if I am in the right discussion group. I would like to know if anyone knows how to have a master copy of your iphoto library and for that matter your itunes library on one computer(laptop) and a copy on another computer hardrive(desktop) that are synced over a wireless network? I would like while I an in the wireless network for the library's to sync at regular intervals. And when I leave the proximity of the network and make modification to the library's to have it prompt me to make sure I want to update the slave drive when I return. I don't even know if this is possible, if some one knows a solution for this or a work around please let me know. Or if I need to find solutions elsewhere.
    Regards Chad

    Chad
I don‘t know about iTunes but this Syncing is not possible with iPhoto.
But let’s be clear here: By Syncing you mean two way copying, right? Changes made on the laptop are reflected on the desktop, and those made on the desktop reflected on the Laptop?
Bluntly there is no syncing software that is capable of parsing the iPhoto Library, and attempting to sync them will corrupt one or both Libraries.
The best you can do is use iPhoto Library Manager to move pics, albums or events plus associated metadata between libraries. But this process cannot be automated.
If, however, you mean one way copying: changes made on the laptop are copied to the Desktop, then any back up utility will do that.

  • Syncing Photos through Photoshop/iTunes

I have synced my photos with Photoshop Elements 5 for several years with no problems. The folders I created in Photoshop transferred nicely to my iPod. Recently, iTunes wiped out the folders that I had created on my iPod and will no longer sync using Photoshop. It will only permit syncing with the "My Pictures" folder on my hard drive. Any suggestions on how to get iTunes to work with Photoshop again? Thanks.

  • Help! Trouble syncing photos to the iPod touch

I have just downloaded pics from my digital camera, and I have having trouble syncing them with my iPod touch. They are all jpg files. I get an error saying:
"some (all) of my photos were not copied to my iPod because they cannot be displayed on my iPod."
Is there a certain style or size the photos need to be?

You will need to free up some more space. Regardless of the size of the photos you are trying to transfer to the iPod, you need more free space than 500mb to accommodate the photo cache.

  • Are the iPod Drivers included with iTunes 7.0?

If I have a new computer and I haven't installed the original iPod driver software that came with my iPod do I still need to install it before I install the new iTunes 7.0?

I finally gave up on iTunes 7. After uninstalling iTunes 7 and reinstalling iTunes 6, my iPod became more reliable and Windows XP would consistently mount it. Even though iTunes 7 is well conceived, I founded considerably slower than version 6. The slowdown becomes apparent when iTunes automatically starts with connecting an iPod. Syncing the iPod with a large music database will cause a slowdown; even a crash.
I do not believe that iTunes is multi-threading well on Windows XP. My other syncing applications do not put a strain on my computer’s resources. My computer handles Photoshop 10 megapixel processing and a 2 gigs bi-directional sync over my network without a hiccup. iTune grinds my computer to a halt with just a 2 gigs syncing to the iPod. In addition, all startup items were disabled in the troubleshooting process.
Even though features like the Summary tabs and view by album art appeal to me, I will hold off on the iTunes 7 upgrade in place of speed and reliability. I have a couple recommendations as well. These suggestions are for people with large music databases and a large number of hard drive and firewire devices.
TURN ON – Automatically update selected playlist only
TURN OFF – Open iTunes when this iPod is attached
If you restore you iPod, leave your computer alone for several hours while iTunes fills up a large capacity iPod. It took me all weekend to reload my iPod.

  • Can someone help in deleting synced photos from iPhone4?

I have some pictures on my iphone4 that were synced from computer A.  That computer is no longer available...Is there a way to delete them by using a different computer to un-sync them.  They cannot be deleted directly from the phone either.

    dbs2071 wrote:
The old computer is gone and not available.  So I guess I will lose all of my pics if I want to delete a few correct?
    Yes.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Did you faile to do this?
    Not good at all.
You can e-mail the pics to yourself.  They will never be of the original quality as they are reduced in quality when synced to iphone.

  • How do I recover photos off the iTunes backup from my iPhone so I can put them on my new computer?

My computer hard drive recently crashed and is unrecoverable.  Like a dummies we didn't have it backed up.  But do I have my photos and files still on my iPhone.
So, bought a new computer with Windows 8 operating system.  Went to the iTunes store and they said I just needed to plug in my phone and transfer the photo's over.
First thing I did after downloading iTunes to my new computer was do a backup of my iPhone through iTunes.  Then tried to download my pictures to my computer as recommended at the iTunes store.  Was only able to get the pictures off the camera roll.
On my old computer I had several folders of photos that I had uploaded to my iPhone and still show up on the iPhone but I can't seem to find them to put them back on my new computer.
Can anyone assist me with this.  I hate to purchase an extractor if I don't need one. I only have one chance at this and want to make sure I do it right.
Thanks in advance for your asssitance and advice.
And, they told me a couldn't grab my old music files either but had to reload them all back into iTunes by hand.  Bummer.

    Hi Becky,
If you have iCloud and shared Photo Stream turned on, you can go into your each of your albums and do the following:
    1.     Tap on Edit
    2.     Tap on each photo you want to save back to your computer
    3.     Tap on Share
    4.     Tap on Photo Stream
    5.     Tap on the unnamed Photo Stream folder just created
    6.     Type in your iCloud or Apple ID email address
    7.     Name the Photo Stream
    8.     Tap on Next to create the shared Photo Stream album
    9.     Tap on Post
    10.   Tap on the new Photo Stream album
    11.    Tap on Edit
    12.    Tap on the photos to select them
    13.    Tap on Share
    14.    Tap on Save to Camera Roll
Once they are back in the Camera Roll, you should be able to import them.
    Cheers,

  • Restoring a photo from the iTunes backup of the iPhone

My son deleted a picture of himself (he's 11) from my iPhone that he didn't want me to have. I wanted to restore it from a backup of the phone that I made last week. How do I do that?
    Lisa

Thanks. I'm restoring it now. All of the conditions that you mentioned were true. There were two pics that I took at the Penguins' playoff game last week that wouldn't have been on the backup. I didn't know if those would be wiped out or not so I copied them to my PC first before I started the restore. Other than that (and a ringtone but I can recreate that), everything that you mentioned was true. It's kind of a joke between my son and me -- it's just a stupid pic of him sleeping on the couch (though he claims he wasn't sleeping). He thinks it's over now that he deleted it from the phone. Joke's oh him...
    Thanks.

  • ITunes Crashes while selecting 'include video' in Sync Photos

    Hi Support,
I have a problem while I sync my iPhone 4.If I select ‘include video’ option in ‘Sync Photos’ from folder iTunes crashes. It works absolutely fine if ‘include video’ option is not selected. The videos inside my sync folder are compactable with iPhone, since it was taken by iPhone.
Even Sync Photos with ‘include video’ was working fine until I upgraded my iTunes yesterday. Right now I can’t Sync the videos through this option. Please help
I recently updated my iTunes to version 10.4.0.80 and my iPhone is running iOS v 4.3.4 (8K2)
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi All,
I have exact same problem wiith an iPAD2, latest Itunes & iPAD OS.  I removed all the previously syncing okay video content from my Pictures folder (I have mixed photos and video content in each sub folder) and it syncronises okay with "Include Videos" turned on and then even if I put just one video file now in any sub folder iTunes crashes as soon as it tries to optimise this video.  I am running Windows 7 Professional and never had any problems prior to latest updatte so come on Apple, surely this is a serious problem evreyone must be having? I have imovie on my iPad and now all the video content it needs I cant get onto the iPAD2.  I have tried installing an earlier version but it won't let me and there seems to be conflicting threads on how to do this without losing all my settings and libraries for contacts, email, >10,000 photo's and video's, apps etc.
