Help before I throw this printer out of the window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just purchased a Deskjet 2540 all in one printer - I will only ever need to print boarding passes etc. -
this looked so good on Amazon ideal for my iPad and said how easy to set up!!! In my dreams - I have now spent 10 hours
Trying to set this up and last night was close to cracking:-
I am setting this by wirless. I have the password and the printer showing on my iPad.
Each time I try and load the softwear I am told an unexpected error has occurred please try again later - I
Have tried and tried to no avail. Apple staff have said I do not need this softwear????????
The network test results say:-
1 check the printer network name ssid matches your wireless router network name ssid exactly!!!!!
2 if they do not match exactly, run the wireless setup from the printer software to configure your hp printer!!!!!
But no where can I find how to do this and sorry I really do not understand what this means.
Reading Amazon some people have set up in 15 min!!!!
The cost of bringing in an expert to set this up is worth more than the printer cost!!!!!!
Thanks for reading feel better letting of steam will defiantly be a 0 from me for the feed back to Amazon

Hello SueJon,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I hope this reply finds you with the printer not thrown out of the Window. Regarding the Deskjet 2540 setup to work with the iPad, I would like to help.
There are two ways that you can print from the iPad to the 2540. The first, Wireless Direct. Wireless Direct is a network that the printer broadcasts and the iPad would connect to it. This method will leave the iPad with no other network access while connected.
Second, and more functional, is having the printer connected to the same network that the iPad is connected too.
In order to setup this connection, follow the steps outlined below;
Turn Wireless Direct on from the front panel button on the printer. (number 4).
Connect the iPad to the printer network, Settings> Network> HP-Print-2540.
Open Safari and type this I.P address into the address bar, 192.168.223.1 and hit Enter.
Go to Network or Wireless and then Wireless Setup Wizard.
Select your network and enter the needed information.
Once connected, the Wireless light should be solid, connect the iPad back to your network. To print, open a document, hit the Share button (), and if an option to print is available you will be able to select the print option.
I hope you find this information helpful.

  • SOMEONE PLEASE HELP BEFORE I THROW MY MAC OUT OF THE WINDOW!

    Is my setup useless?
Logic crashes every time I open more than 1 external synth (e.g. predator, massive, ABL2). This occurs with no other instruments in the project.
It cant seem to take the CPU.
    Here is what I have….
Apple iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83GHz 512MB (2x256MB) 160GB (upgraded with 2gig of ram – as much as it can take!)
    Logic 7
    OSX 10.4.11
M Audio Oxygen V8 midi keyboard
Memory 2GB667 MHz DDR SD RAM
    1.47gb memory free
92.82gb space free on hard drive
Can anyone offer some advice? Surely for what I have paid for the system, I should be able to get more out of it than this?…. is there anything else I can do to boost processing power?
    Any help is massively appreciated!

    Hi David,
Before sleeping out of your window waiting your Imac, maybe I would suggest couple things:
    - Getting LOGIC 7.2.3
    - Getting last M-AUDIO drivers (if lot compliant one)
    - Repair permissions with let's say ONYX software.
    - Are you using external firewire hardrive? (issue for some of Imac sometimes)
if this still causes you troubles, then you 'll see my face outside your house with my arms ready.
    Cheers.

  • A/V not working...am ready to throw this modem out of the window

got a Zoom 5560 Ethernet modem/router for my new iMac Intel core duo with built in iSight as the modem i ran on my old imac is not supported (USB OneTouch 330).
I have done all i can as found in this forum:
Mac OS X Firewall is off
    Quicktime streaming to 1.5 mbps
iChat video to none (and also tried various settings)
    Ports open in NAT in Zoom modem/router (4099, 5190, 5193, 5297, 5298)
Why can't i video chat via iChat, the old USB modem worked out of the box, but obvioulsy i can't use this unsupported device any more and my old iMac is no longer with me in this world.
    Please need help!!

    Great allows only 24 entries.
I wanna try the DMZ feature but can't seem to find the right place to do it in the Zoom X3. As usual the help stuff is mainly in the installer and that being windows means its not accessible. Ifound this on the Zoom website:
    =============================================
< Open the Zoom Web Console (<a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://10.0.0.2), click Advanced Setup, and click the Misc Configuration button.
If you are using PPPoA encapsulation, from the PPP Half Bridge drop-down menu, select Enable.
Click the Save Changes button and then the Write Settings to Flash and Reboot button.
Now you must change encapsulation setting from the default the PPPoE LLCSNAP to PPPoA VCMUX. To do this, click Basic Setup. Then from the Encapsulation drop-down menu, select PPPoA VCMUX.
Click the Save Changes button and then the Write Settings to Flash and Reboot button.
Verify that your TCP/IP properties are set for DHCP. You may need to release and renew the IP address. Refer to the instructions in the Zoom ADSL Modem User's Manual (click on Documentation in the main installation menu of the Zoom ADSL CD). Note: The IP address should be the same as the WAN status IP Address, which is located on the System Status page of the Zoom Web Console>

Okay, my biggest problem is that I'm in Austria with my iMac G5 and my mum is in England with her new iMac G5 intel duo core, so i'm trying to set her Zoom X3 up via telephone with my mum who is 65, yeah so thats the deal!
So any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Audio recorded LATE... please help before I throw my MBP out the window!!!

Surely SOMEONE must have an answer to this:
Audio is being recorded LATE in the arrange. WHAT'S GOING ON?!!?!?
    - There are NO effects across the output.
    - This happens regardless of the soundcard - tested on an RME FF800 and an Mbox.
    - It seems to be late by a random amount each time but seems to increase with track count/plugin use.
    - Changing the buffer size makes no difference.
    - Delay compensation settings make no difference.
    - Recording delay slider is centered.
I'm runnning Logic 9.1 with a 2.53GHz 4Gb Macbook Pro on 10.5.8. I've had this problem ever since upgrading to L9.
It's driving me crazy. I'm a full-time writer/producer, and this is making every hour of my professional life very difficult!!!
    Anyone?!

it's really weird actually... sometimes a new session will be fine at first, and sometimes there's latency straight away, but eventually it's sure to creep in, whether there are plugins on tracks or not... in fact, playing along with the click yields the same result, so it's nothing to do with where i'm perceiving the timing of pre-recorded parts to be (again, there are NO effects strapped across the output).
as i hinted at previously, a friend of mine had the exact same problem, so unless we're birdbrains of a feather it seems there is a problem with logic!

  • I'm about to chunk this thing out of the window.

I have never in my life owned a peice of apple products. I decided 2 months ago to purchase a 30gb Ipod for somewhere around $300 in order to provide me with music for my office. Well this has been the biggest waste of money in my life and I cannot get over the fact that this f**kin thing wont work. I have two computers (one at work, and one at home). My computer at home is my main linked computer, I have all my music on that machine and that is where I update my Ipod. Everything works fine there and has since the day I got it.
The machine at work I just want to listen to the music on my ipod and this f**kin crap wont work. I called Apple 2 months ago when I first got it and all of their suggestions were failures. (do they even know what they are doing?) This is what has/is happening in the order in which it happened.
    1. I reformatted my computer.
    2. I installed itunes, quicktime, and ipod updater from the disc that came with my ipod (followed every instruction)
    3. restarted the machine per the request of the install.
    4. plugged in my ipod and ran the updater.
    5. itunes launched and there was no ipod recognized, but it was in my disc management list.
    6. i had to change the drive letter... i choose I:\
    7. Itunes now recognized my ipod and displayed the songs on the ipod, only in grey and i couldnt play them...????
    8. I ejected the ipod and restarted my machine.
    9. plugged in ipod, itunes launched and showed the same thing as before - all of my music was in grey and inactive.
    10. I went to my computer, now the ipod was not there.
    11. went to disk management, and the ipod was not there.
This is the craziest f**kin thing ive ever seen and no one can give us an answer for it. It makes no sense that my machine at home it works fine (so no problem with the ipod software), yet the comp at work is not working...
ive tested, reset and diagnosed all of the usb drives on my machine, they are all fine. this computer is a workhorse and has the same exact OS with the same updates as the one at home....
    WHAT IS THE DEAL APPLE??????
I was actually thinking about purchasing a G5 to replace my home pc for my webwork.... well with mass problems like these and absolutely no help from the manufacturer.... i think ill just stick with my PC this is absolutely rediculous.... and if i call you, you want to charge me something like $30 an hour to help me when i already spent $300 on the f**kin paperweight in front of me..
    A sincerely unhappy customer
30gb IPOD VIDEO   Windows XP   THIS IS CRAP

It does pay to be nice sometimes. Apple employees do occasionally post on the boards, but I doubt that they monitor every last thread. And yes, they do charge for tech support, but it is not $30 an hour. It's $49 for one problem, or $59 for the Applecare plan. Which, to tell the truth, really isn't the worst thing to purchase for the iPod.
Now, from reading your post, it looks as though you want to listen to the music that's on your iPod through a computer with an iTunes program on it that your iPod is not linked to.
    Do this:
    Connect your iPod.
    Click Edit > Preferenes
    Click the iPod tab
Select "manually manage songs and playlists"
    Click OK
Your iTunes will say "updating iPod Do Not Disconnect" at the top
Wait for it to say iPod Update is complete
Click on your Library in the source list
Click on your iPod in the source list
Are the songs lit up now?

  • Help.. before i throw this thing out the window

I've had my macbook pro for about 2 weeks now... at first the internet was running insanely fast; you know, as it should have been. Lately, however, when i try to get online the pages wont even load, and when they do load, they load half-assed. Half the pictures don't show, only 3/4 of the text... i was wondering if anyone knew a way to fix this. If there is a way to clean the computer.. i dunno just get it running to what it was like when i first got the thing.. thanks.

Here's a few questions, some which others above have implied:
    1) Click the Airport icon in the Menu bar (the icon that looks like waves spreading in a v-shape in the top right-hand corner). Are you connected to YOUR network? Sometimes your MacBook Pro may connect to another network, and that network may have a low signal strength or a slow internet connection.
    2) Try using Firefox or another browser to see if the problem doesn't lie with Safari.
    3) Try connecting your laptop directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. If the internet runs fine, you may have a problem with your Airport card.
    4) I'm no expert to know if this will help you, but the following has helped with a few software glitches I've had. Run Disk Utility, select your Mac partition (NOT the hard drive, and be especially careful if you have a Boot Camp partition), click the First Aid tab (which it probably opened into), and click repair disk permissions (this may take several minutes). Try out Safari to see if its any faster.
I have no idea whether force quitting any application would affect internet speed. But like I said earlier, I'm no expert. You have a Mac, so you don't really NEED an anti-virus program, but if you have to or insist, the best av program would be a free one. See:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6743168&#6743168
or just search these forums for antivirus. But again, you don't really need it as many posts throughout Apple Discussions have said they cause more problems than they fix. Hope I was able to help and that your problems get solved soon. The MacBook Pro is a wonderful, powerful computer and it's a shame that your having problems with a slow connection speed.

  • PLEASE someone help me before i throw this thing out the win

edit - whew. good thing nobody saw this post. it was mean. i figured it out.. finally :\
now i just gotta figure out how to get the tracks in order!! any ideas?
Message Edited by no-sweat on 02-08-2005 07:48 AM

You could try using simple software like Tag and Rename, very usefull to sort out the tags, Creative Zens micros and Touch's all need the tracks to be proporly tagged, Album, Track, and if you do a whole album and want the tracks in the same order as they are in the album you will have to edit the title so it has a number 0, 02 ect infront of every song, easidly done with good tagging software.

  • Help before I throw this into the wall.

I just received a ipod for my birthday. I have installed software and have loaded music and some podcasts to itunes successfully. However, when I plug in my ipod it opens up itunes but doesn't send the songs to my ipod.
    My ipod is empty. help!
      Other OS

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Your songs in the iTunes library won't automatically update to your iPod unless you have the correct option set.
Go to "Preferences -> iPod". What setting are you on?
If you are on one of the "automatic" settings (sounds like you aren't though), when you plug in your iPod, iTunes will start automatically update your iPod with the iTunes libary ("ALL") or to a particular folder or playlist in iTunes ("SELECTED").
If you are set for "manual", then to transsfer songs to your iPod, you'll need to go the iTuens library, select the songs you want onto your iPod, and drag-and-drop then into your iPod (which is in the left source panel of iTunes).
I hope this works for you!

  • About to throw this Envy17 out in the trash

While typing, the focus jumps from the active screen to who the hell knows where...  I lose entire documents, sometimes it opens odd windows and like on this post, it took me three runs to type this much...
I have turned off the touch pad (no help)  and this GD thing is starting to really piss me off....
    Anyone else see this?

If you still feel like throwing it in the trash just send me a PM and I will send you a prepaid shipping box addressed to me, made up to look like a wastebasket.

  • Ok I am about to throw my mac out of the window. Again.

I am trying to open iPhoto and I get the following message.
Unable to write to the library "iPhoto Library"
Check that you have permission to write to the library directory.
Any suggestions before my mac is sat next to its maker Steve Jobbs?

So I had to deliberately set the permissions incorrectly to no access and then allow the system to 'repair' the m
    permissions for it to work.
Come on apple I am seriously losing faith and considering switching back to Microsoft. Surely the reason why we spend over the odds money is for our lives to be made simpler and for Apple products to work with a minimum of fuss. Mr Jobbs would be turning.........

  • Like an idiot, i bought a game for an ipad and only have a macbook air. can i somehow get the game to play on my air? or have i just thrown $5.29 out of the window?!?

I recently bought a game for an "ipad", (thru itunes), when I only have a MacBook Air...I had seen where you could switch apps back and forth between devices, ad I thought I could do this. Is there a way to play the game on my Air laptop? Or did I just throw $5.29 out of the window? One more thing...it involved Facebook, and I don't belong...or want to belong!?
I want to play Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, etc. ON MY MACBOOK AIR!?!???

No way to play an iOS game on a Mac presently.
I suspect if you contacted Apple's Customer Support and explained the situation they would refund or credit your account.
