Help, content falling out - i'm new to Dreamweaver

Please help me, i am new to Dreamweaver so any replies,
please keep it easy to follow. I'm working on a single HTPL page. I
have a layout table and layout cells within it. These cells are a
mixture of text boxes, one picture and some spacer boxes. It all
looks great in the Dreamweaver 8 preview, however when I hit the
Internet Explorer preview some of the text and the image bleed out
to the right. What can I do? It looks wicked in
Dreamweaver!!??!!

Post a link to the page, please.
Also, just so you'll know, Layout tables are generally
regarded as bad mojo
for beginners to HTML. Although they are marketed as a way to
avoid the
anguish of learning HTML, they create much more anguish for
the unsuspecting
user by being fragile to the point of utter frustration....

• The cord to my Airport won't stay plugged in. It just falls out, and I can't get a connection. Should I just order a new cord, or is there another problem?

What can I do to get a new cord for my Airport/Time Capsule? The cord keeps falling out of my Airport device. When it was loose, I could sometimes adjust it & get wireless service again. Now I cannot get a light to come on at all so no wireless service. The cord does not feel like it is connecting when I try to plug it in, and it just falls to the floor. I would really appreciate help. I miss my wireless!

I don't take offense. The TK isn't new, but had been sitting stationary before a recent move. My son moved it during a visit, then I noticed that the cord kept falling out. I tried several times to reinsert it, but apparently I was too cautious and didn't get it pushed in all of the way.
With your information that it should be a tight fit, I was more aggressive in pushing it in, and it did attach this time. The light is green again. Thank you very much!

The same day I assumed ifinancial responsibility, I had the phone number ported to a new service provider. ( Straight Talk ) After doing so, my phone worked fine. (as far as cellular service) NO DATA Service !!!! I have been on the phone with AT&T, Straight Talk, and Apple, FOR HOURS over TWO days!!! Trying to get this problem resolved. All I need to do, is change my APN settings (access point name ) settings. Its my phone!!! Why does any body have this APN menu locked from me??? I've been on the phone for two days between, AT&T, Straight Talk, and Apple products technical support teams. Everybody points the finger at the next guy!! What can I do to get the phone, that I paid for, work for more than just a phone, and a paper weigh?

Wow... you seriously over paid for an iPhone.
That probably explains why you have/had no clue you were purchasing a locked device and think it's an Apple problem to get it unlocked.

I'll stay in this chat ... I answered in the other one ... I have a Sony digital Handycam ... from years ago. I just got the LaCie and I think I formatted it for only to be used on my Mac ... how should I go about reformatting it to be HFS Extended like you said?

Hello, since nobdy else has replied...
Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there.

You are looking at the drop-down menus at the top of iTunes e.g. on a Mac :
If you are on iTunes 11 on Windows then press Alt-S and the Store menu should appear at the top.

Farooq,
If you look at the first one, you should be able to align quite easily as follows, View>Smart Guides being your friends:
1a) ClickDrag the top flower with the Selection Tool (black arrow) so it is clear of the pointy part;
1b) Click an empty spot on the Artboard to deselect, then ClickDrag the top flower by its bottom Anchor Point (Smart Guides say anchor when you are close enough to grab it) down to snap to the top Anchor Point on the pointy part (Smart Guides say anchor when you are close enough);
1c) Do the same for the boroom flower.
If you look at the third one, to get the triangles and the hexagon sized and aligned precisely, you may, creating them with stroke and no fill:
3a) Click with the Polygon Tool and select a suitable/chosen Radius and 6 Sides, then Object>Transform>Rotate by 30 degrees (or use the Rotate option in the Transform palette), you may Object>Transform>Reset Bounding Box to have it look nicer;
3b) Click with the Polygon Tool and select the same Radius and 3 sides, then deselect and ClickDrag the top Anchor Point to snap to the top Anchor Point of the hexagon;
3c) Object>Transform>Rotate by 180 degrees clicking Copy, deselect, and ClickDrag the bottom Anchor Point to snap to the bottomAnchor Point of the hexagon;
3d) Select all and Ctrl/Cmd+G to Group (for alignment purposes, you will know why if you try without grouping, see below).
To create full symmetry, you may use circles rather than almost circular ellipses; you may:
3d) Click with the Ellipse Tool and select a suitable/chosen Width = height;
3e) Object>Transform>Move a copy vertically by the Height (= Width) twice (or you may Ctrl/Cmd+D to repeat), to get three circles over one another with no gaps;
3f) Select the topmost and bottommost ones and Object>Transform>Rotate a copy by 120 degrees twice, to have all the seven circles precisley touching one another; you may Group them, but it is not necessary.
To have everything aligned, just:
3g) Select everything and click Vertical Align Center and Horizontal Align Center in the Align palette; you may click the pointy group or the circles ojnce more before aligning if you want to keep it in place (that will make it the key object that the other set is aligned to).
These ways may also help you further.
Edit: About half an hour after midnight here. High time to attend to other duties, before the sun is up.

• Can you please help me figure out why Firefox is so slow on my brand new computer?

Hi, my name is Michael Stevenson and I'm a long time Firefox user, but for the longest time Firefox has been extremely slow for me. I currently have a 4 month old PC that Firefox lags when opening tabs, scrolling pages, right clicking, typing, etc. The whole browser just feels slow. On this PC, even IE8 runs smooth and fast. So I know there must be an issue!
I currently have Firefox 6 installed, with all add-ons and unnecessary extensions currently disabled. My PC specs are: Windows 7 64 bit, Sandybridge i7 2.6ghz, 6gb RAM, Firefox+OS installed to SSD, ATI Radeon 6850M Graphics card.
As I do design and amateur developing for a living, I really need Firefox to be as snappy as chrome or (gasp) IE on this PC. Thank you for your help!

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Ultrabeat can now find samples that have been relocated from the default install location.
Ultrabeat now correctly applies the Fine Pitch adjustment to all triggered samples when trigger mode is set to Multi.
It's now possible to halve/double the current rate of the Arpeggiator plug-in by clicking the Slow/Fast buttons.
The ES1 synth plug-in can now be set to offer 32 and 64 voices per instance.
The Scripter plug-in now allows System Realtime MIDI events to pass through.
The Scripter plug-in now offers an option to keep current control values when recompiling a script, rather than resetting all values back to their defaults.
The Scripter MIDI plug-in now includes a Set Parameter function.
Switching between Vintage Electric Piano patches while holding notes no longer potentially results in momentary jumps in level.
The Vintage Electric Piano no longer potentially creates audible pops when switching patches when the Drive is enabled and set to Type II.
It's now possible to continue working with the Scripter editor window when Logic Pro X is not in focus.
The Surround Compressor plug-in now properly shows all the new circuit types available in Logic Pro X.
It's again possible to copy or paste settings in the Space Designer plug-in window.
The order of controls in the Retrosynth Filter Envelope and Amp Envelope sections has been reorganized to improve usability.
The plug-in window no longer appears empty for Waves plug-ins opened in projects created in Logic 9.
Fixes an issue in which inserting a plug-in on multiple stereo Software Instrument channel strips would insert mono versions of the plug-in on some channel strips.
EXS24 or Kontakt settings are no longer removed from a song if the Audio Device buffer size is changed before saving the song.
Resolves an issue in which adjusting parameters on the Channel EQ while playing back might cause minor clicks and pops in the audio signal.
Moving an Amp Designer instance to a different plug-in slot no longer sometimes changes its sound.
“Save as Default” for Audio Unit presets again works as expected.
Video
It's now possible to exchange movie files in a project by dragging a new movie file into the Movie window or the Movie inspector.
Logic Pro X can now work with the following professional video codecs, if OS X Mavericks v10.9 and the codecs are installed: Apple Intermediate Codec, Apple ProRes, AVC-Intra, DVCPRO HD, HDV, XDCAM HD / EX / HD422, MPEG IMX, Uncompressed 4:2:2, XAVC.
There is now a Show/Hide Movie Window command in the View menu when the current project contains a movie.
Resolves an issue in which some movies that were compatible with QuickTime X did not play in Logic Pro X.
Exporting audio to a movie with a portrait orientation no longer causes the movie to rotate 90 degrees.
Logic is now able to export surround AAC audio to a movie even if the original audio in the movie was originally kept.
The visible frame of a movie now updates as note lengths in the Piano Roll are changed.
Import/export fixes and improvements
XML projects imported from Final Cut Pro X now contain volume and pan automation when opened in Logic Pro X.
Exporting a project as an Final Cut Pro/XML file with the “Export as Final Cut Compound Clip” option enabled now behaves as expected.
Includes several improvements to the way Logic handles audio sample-rate conversion when importing Final Cut Pro XML.
Logic now shows a progress bar when importing large Final Cut Pro XML projects.
32-bit float audio files in Final Cut Pro XML projects are now converted to 24-bit files during import so they play properly when imported into Logic.
The start time of imported Final Cut Pro XML projects is now consistently correct.
It's now possible to export Music XML when the Score window is in linear view mode.
Logic no longer shows multiple alerts when importing a Final Cut Pro XML project containing videos in a format not supported by Logic.
Songs created in GarageBand 6 no longer load in Logic Pro X with an extra channel in the Mixer.
Fixes an issue in which audio in a song imported from GarageBand 6 might play back too fast in Logic Pro X.
Logic now offers to include embedded tempo and marker information when using Track Import to bring an audio file into a project that contains no other audio regions.
Simultaneously dragging multiple MIDI files into the Tracks area now behaves as expected when using No Overlap mode.
The default destination path for exported MIDI files is now the project folder instead of ~/Music/Logic.
When importing projects, there is now an Add All button in the Aux import dialog.
The user settings in the Bounce window are now retained after sharing to iTunes.
Split stereo SD2 files no longer incorrectly import as AIFF files when the WAV file option is enabled.
The “Share Song to iTunes” command now creates a playlist with the name entered if there is not already an iTunes playlist with that name.
MIDI events that precede the start point of a region are no longer included when the region is exported as a MIDI file.
Stability and reliability
Includes several fixes related to stability and reliability, including to resolve issues that could cause Logic to quit unexpectedly in these circumstances:
When changing the length of a time-stretched region
When importing tracks from another project
When recording with the color palette open
When bypassing an instance of the Maschine plug-in
When exporting Music XML after applying Enharmonic Shift to some notes
When changing the range on an Environment fader whose style was set to Text
When quitting a project that has a Surround Compressor inserted on a channel strip
When removing a control surface from the Control Surface setup window when the Logic Remote is also present
When changing the range value of a Smart Control during playback.
When reapplying a Time and Pitch operation after undoing a previous one
When dragging an audio region from a take folder to a new song

Thanks Erik,
If nothing else, this huge list of updates and fixes, shows clearly that the Logic Dev team is working hard on fixing and improving LPX to a major degree.... and from the list of fixes done.. show they do read the bug reports submitted!
As an aside....
I recall how all the 'naysayers' prior to LPX (and in some cases, since...) were proclaiming how Logic was dead, the team was being disbanded, we won't see any further development, the Dev team doesn't listen or care... and so on....... I wonder where those people are now?

• Has anyone else had the screws fall out of the bottom of 2012 2013 Macbook Pro Retina?

Apple tried to repair my Macbook Pro Retina when I first got it. They took the back off, replaced the motherboard (which was not the problem), and returned it to me the next day (via FedEx). When I got the machine back, half of the screws on the back shell were falling out... and one was in crooked. Apple told me to take my machine to the authorized computer repair place to have the screws tightened. The screws were tightened and now, they are falling out again! I've read about needed some sort of locktight product to put the screws back in. I don't understand why an authorized repair place would not do this the first time! Can you tell me what the process should be on replacing the screws in the bottom (shell) of the Macbook Pro Retina? I've heard that the shell should be replaced when the new screws are put in. Is this true? (I have AppleCare and will take my machine in next week for repair.... again!) Thanks!

The first repair (when they thought logic board was bad) was a mail-in to Apple. They are the ones that did not re-apply the screws properly and they were falling out when I took computer out of the cardboard shipping box. Called Apple. They said take it to Computer Guys (only auth Apple repair here). Now, a new Mac store in the mall has opened. I think I will take it there this time since it was not done properly at the Computer Guys last time (however, Apple didn't put them back in properly in the FIRST place! Gee. I have Applecare and will stay with Apple repair only. Thanks! I appreciate everyone's input. It has been really helpful! The only reason I have not taken it to an Apple Store is because it is 3 hours away. I will see what this new Mac store has to offer. Oh... and, Apple Support did absolutely nothing for me! Did not even apologize for not fixing it properly the first time... and costing me time and money (as my computer is part of my job). Thanks again! Did Apple do this on purpose to keep us from repairing our own machines? I've seen so many complaints online and I imagine there will be more to come as the machines age and people try to make repairs themselves. Crazy.

• Ex frontpage user new to dreamweaver help!

hello all,
I am very new to dreamweaver MX and have only ever used
frontpage 2000. I just dont know where to start and was hoping for
some quick advice.
In frontpage you could see the navigation pages so you just
click on one or create a new page. It was very user friendly. I am
creating a very basic page so my first question is how do i create
a website? title it "my acting website" and start with an index
page with a template/title that will go on every page i create.
Do you recommend any tutorials? if there are any for creating
a basic website?

Have you looked at the Dreamweaver help files themselves ? F1
and do a
search for ' Templates'
You need to create a basic dreamweaver template, with all the
elements that
will be on every page and declare an editable (an area that
changes on every
page - eg: content area) . You then would create 'children'
pages from
this template.
A basic knowledge of html and css would be advantageous to
you also :)
You may also want to check out the css tutorials at the Adobe
site - (last
link in my sig)...

• Unable to view local HTML content from "Help Content Only" SSL iFrame

Hi
Can anyone confirm whether it is possible to view local HTML files within an iFrame when generating Help Content Only SSL content which is also locally deployed?
I have had no problem viewing local html files from within an iFrame with a locally viewed Browser-Based Help project but despite trying a number of variations on the syntax, I simply cannot obtain the same result from a Help Content Only SSL that is then incorporated within a merged help system. I can however create hyperlinks to view local content using the following syntax (file:/C:\folderName\fileName.html - the only drawback for local preview is that you must right-click and select "open in new tab"). Essentially, I am trying to eliminate the requirement to have to right-click and open in new tab to view local html files.
The project I am working on is deployed both locally and remotely and this whole process is necessary for emergency management and business continuity purposes.
I hope my explanation isn't too convoluted and would be glad to clarify it further if required. I would appreciate any assistance!

Hi John
I appreciate you and Peter obtaining this information from Adobe and I appreciate your continuing patience in trying to understand what I am doing.
I will start from the beginning and hopefully clarify my process when deploying my application locally (my remote process differs somewhat but is not germane to this discussion). Obviously this will contain some repetition from previous posts but I hope it helps...
The project itself integrates content created from Adobe RoboHelp with content created within Adobe Dreamweaver
First, I should mention that I am using RoboHelp 8 as I don't believe I have addressed which version I am using. There's nothing particularly unusual about the project itself.
Utilizing Dreamweaver I have created a self-contained HTML-only (no server-side functionality) website which is placed at the root level of the C: drive
Within the RoboHelp project I create a hyperlink to access the local HTML files from the RoboHelp topic pages. The process I use to do so is from within the HTML view of the specific topic page and I use the following file path: "file:/C:\folderName\fileName.html". The only end-user requirement is that they must right-click and select "open in new tab", otherwise the link does not work. Please note, this is ONLY required for accessing the local HTML files.
I output my RoboHelp project using the Adobe Air SSL, with the output type set to "Help Only Content" which creates the .rha files. I utilize multiple .rha files within my project as each .rha file constitutes a module specific to an individual municipality (in my particular instance)
I use the Help Viewer Wizard from the RoboHelp "Toolbox" pod to create what I refer to as the "shell" .air file. Once the "shell" .air file created from the Help Viewer Wizard is installed, it creates a shortcut on my desktop.
I place an XML .helpcfg file within the directory on C:Program Files where my "shell" .air file has been installed to reference each .rha module which must be placed at the root level of the C: drive in order to be properly referenced by the .helpcfg file
By double-clicking on the desktop shortcut created in Step 6 it opens the "shell" module which, in turn, loads in each individual .rha file which can be accessed individually from the drop-down menu in the top-right corner
Why do I do it this way?? My organization severely restricts admin privileges on our workstations. We have one IT person / several hundred officers so I needed to create a system where the only time we need IT assistance is in the initial installation of the "shell" .air file created from the Help Viewer Wizard and placement of the .helpcfg file within the C: Programs folder. Once this is done, because the .rha files are on the C: drive, I can swap these out and update as necessary (we currently have an annual renewal cycle) and we require no further IT intervention. The local system I have just described has hyperlinks to the online browser-based help so that users can also access it and see any content updates made throughout the course of the school year
Having said all that, based on the model I have just described, I have been trying to create iFrames from within my RoboHelp 8 topic pages (placed on my C: drive) to access the local HTML Dreamweaver site (also on my C: drive). The problem I have been having is that the resultant iFrames display only a blank white page and I have tried a number of variations on the syntax of the file path without success.
The process I have been using to create the iFrame is as follows:
In Design view, select Insert >> HTML >> iFrame
In the iFrame dialog box, provide a name for the iFrame and then navigate to the local file on my C: drive level Dreamweaver HTML-only website that I want to link to.
Click "Apply" and from the resulting dialog box states that "This action will create an external link to the help system... Do you want to continue?", I click "Yes"
The resultant file path is "../../../../../folderName/fileName.html" which obviously won't work but I have created the iFrame and now I switch over to HTML view and insert the file path that I have been using for the hyperlinks ("file:/C:\folderName\fileName.html"). I also modify the width to 100% and the height to 1000 px
The user is not being directed to a different domain. So, if as Adobe states, that iFrames are "supported in local AIR Help (.rha) as well" then I don't know why it will not work for me. Again, this is the file path that allows me to create a hyperlink which will access my local Dreamweaver HTML files: "file:/C:\folderName\fileName.html" so if that syntax works for a hyperlink, why will it not work for the iFrame?
The videos I referenced are also contained within the local Dreamweaver HTML site
My usage of the term "merged help" may have been unclear and hopefully steps 1-8 outline what I am doing
Again, I am very grateful to all who have joined this discussion to try to help me! I think it should be manifestly evident by now that I am self-taught and basically that's the only excuse I can offer in my defense for my poor articulation. Not too many years ago I wanted nothing whatsoever to do with computers!

• Can I actualy ever get my WIFI to work without it falling out all the time? got macbook pro 2011

My WIFI or Airport keeps losing connection when im online! All is good when im on the lead! but wireless my net is very unstable! the router is working all other pc's in the house are working just fine on there- IPODs too! Im a bit frustrated now and very disapointed that Apple is ok with shipping out macs that dont work! I can see im far from the only one with this problem!!! Another side effect from this problem is the very short range my WIFI provides!
Can anyone help me please? any new updates- settings proposals etc???! anything will do! thank you..

I'm having the same problem as you. Have a MacBook Pro 13, 2.53, late 2009. After I installed Lion my wifi has basically just stopped working. Most of the times I can connect with wifi, but it will fall out with certainty within half an hour. Often within just a few minutes. To resolve this I have choose my network from the list again, and sometimes I have to turn the wifi off and on again to get it working.
It is most definetily not my router. We have several phones and computers on the same network, and they don't experience any problems. I also have the same problem if I use someone elses network.
The problem occured after I installed Lion. After the last update I hoped this problem would be fixed. Anyone with some smart solution? Is Apple working on this?
