Help! =( *cries* =(

Ok... So thanks to a program that helps create a Star Wars digital crawl (http://alienryderflex.com/crawl/) with your choice of words and other stuff, I now have 2904 separate digital images (bitmap images) that need to be combined into a movie, at the rate of 18images/second. I read that you could do this in Imovie, but have no idea how. Can anyone help to explain this? If not, any other free programs?
*NOTE: I know this can be done with QT Pro, but sorry folks, I don't have it.

Is it 18 fps because the program that generated the scrolling text only outputs at 18 fps? That's kind of a weird framerate, but if you read the bottom post in the thread that I linked to, it describes how to set the duration of each photo in imovie 6 HD. Looks like you can set the duration of each photo to .05 seconds (I've never tried this myself), which is the equivalent of 20 fps. But it might look weird because you are displaying 18 or 20 pictures per second in a movie that's 30 frames per second.
The other option which I mentioned above is to use MPEG Streamclip, which gives you a 15fps movie, and then use JES Deinterlacer to scale the movie by .833, which will result in an 18fps movie. Jon Walker's website which I linked to above also explains how to use JES Deinterlacer to scale movies, i think.
I think it would be easiest if your program can generate 30 fps, don't know if that's possible tho.
My expertise has been exhausted, hopefully someone else will fill in the blanks or correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Help cries the dinaosaur

Hi there from a dinosaur and practically zero proficiency in this technology. Just purchased the Adobe PDF pack with the sole aim to convert a pdf file file into word.
    1. How do i access this pack on line
    2. What then do I do to convert a pdf into Word?
    Thanks

    Hi Solnishko,
Once you get to https://www.acrobat.com, choose your service from the Select Service menu in the upper-right corner, and click Sign In. Sign in with your Adobe ID and password. To convert a PDF to Word, do the following:
    Click ExportPDF.
Click Select PDF files to Export.
Then either drag a PDF file onto the browser window, or select a PDF file from your computer.
Choose an export format, and then click Export.
Your exported file appears in the lower half of the browser window. To download it, click the download icon that appears when you mouse over the file. (You can also find all of your converted files by clicking the Files tab at the top of the window.)
Please let us know how it goes!
    Best,

  • User data permanently saved on iPhone. Even after FULL 2 HOUR WIPE

Just got my 3G S and I restored my old iPhone 3G prior to selling it. After that I found that all my user data was saved on the phone. When I downloaded Pandora and opened it, my account info was saved and I auto-logged in.
I researched and found the FULL ERASE option inside the iPhone settings. So I performed the full erase, which takes about 2 hours. Then it restored again.
After that, I went into settings --> App store. My old account email was still there!! I changed it to a new email address and logged in. Then I downloaded Pandora again. SAME PROBLEM! AUTO-LOG IN!
So app store and pandora both had my old user info saved.
To say that I am frustrated, upset, and ready to die, is a gross understatement. My iTunes randomly lost it's entire music library as well. (All 13,000 + songs were missing and could not be found, yet the files are perfectly fine.)
This is never ending. How do I just wipe my phone?? Please help ;-(
    Crying,
    -Carlos-

Visited the Apple store today and they replaced the phone. They could not explain what was going on except for being a software issue.
They said if after restoring I have the same issue, you would have to restore the phone to new and re-install all apps and information manually from scratch.
I restored the phone from my backup, and all went well. No more slow LTE speeds, plus a new device.
The only thing I can think of that may have happened is updating carrier settings while updating the iOS at the same time. I thought it was normal because iTunes popped up the carrier update notification a few seconds later after starting the iOS 8 update.
The carrier update did have an option to cancel. I will definitely wait for the iOS update to complete before I update carrier settings next time.
I'm just wondering if my phone was out of warranty, and this happened, would Apple still replace the device?

    Hello Cris,
unfortunately I don't understand your last sentence !
I found a copy of Solaris 8 and the I got back a '*****' where is Solaris 9 so, most likely the drive is OK
If this was a Solaris 8 (7/01 or later) DVD that did successfully boot, your DVD drive firmware (assuming that this is the Sun Toshiba SD-M1401) is up-to-date. If the DVD drive has firmware 1007, an update to 1009 is required to boot from DVD. otherwise you won't be able to boot from DVD (boot from CD works and a DVD can be automounted/mounted).

  • Ordering of events when printing/pdf-ing

Spent a few hours searching on google and in other forums- I know this issue has come up before, but I couldn't find a single answer or solution anywhere.
Seems that when I go to print the calander (or turn it into a PDF) it decides to completely randomy re-order my events.   There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.  In iCal they are in a perfectly logical, organized order.  When I go to print, they appear randomly mixed around.  Attached some photos- first one is what it looks like in iCal, second is what the pdf looks like.  Notice that not only does it re-order the events from the way they appear in iCal, but the way it is re-ordering the events appears to be changing at random from day to day- compare the blue events on the 17th and 24th in image 2- these events are repeating weekly events and were not entered into the calander manually- there is absolutely nothing different about the events on the 17th and the 24th, yet they appear in a different order on each of those days.  The orange events are not repeating events and were each entered manually on their given days, but they too are being re-ordered randomly from day to day.  I've noticed that this isn't just an issue for all-day events- the exact same problem occurs when multiple events occur at the same time (8am, for example).
Has this just been accepted as an unfixable issue?   Super frustrated, spent hours putting a year-long call schedule together for my residency program only to find it's a confusing mess when I try to print it/turn it into a pdf.  If there is no solution, does anyone have suggestions for an easy to use app that I CAN use to generate a PDF calander that looks similar?
    Thanks for any help,
    Crying in California

    Hi Al,
I don't think anyone here has figured out how to "control" how iCal prints, though it is a frequent question. I think we are all waiting for iCal 3 or a third party alternative (that taps into iCal data).

  • No Video chat with XP user (Trillian)

    Hi,
I know there are lots of help cries out there complaining about no video connection between Ichat and Windows - I looked through most of the advice out there, but I still can't get it to work.
I have used my Panther G5 with Ichat 2.1 as well as Tiger Ibook to connect to my family abroad - they use XP and Trillian (we first tried AIM but couldn't get anywhere with it).
I don't have a firewall running - we opened the ports on the XP machine, then even disabled the firewall. He can video connect to the Apple trial accounts (appleu3test01) just fine - as can I - and I'm fine with other Mac users using IChat - but between the two of us I can only text chat with him - no audio nor video.
We usually get the didn't respond error message - on the Tger Ibook UI even get that I!!! didn't respond.
Again, I have looked at all the helpful articles on the web - but none was helpful in our situation...
    Anybody???!!

    Hi Thomas,
OK. Both the modem and the router may need ports to be opened.
This can be done in several ways depending if your devices have the options.
ALl Router will come with the option to Port Forward. (so do some modems)
Data arrives on one port like say port 80 and web browsing.
The router uses Port Forwarding to send the data to a specific IP (Computer) and a specific port although the same one is often used.
Port Triggering is where data is expected to start on one port and more ports maybe needed and are opened when the data arrives on the trigger. The ports here tend to stay the same as well. It does however allow multiple comuters to use the ports.
In terms of set up UPnP is easiest. IF your device has it it is normally an On or Off setting.
Now when it comes to a Modem and a router then iChat can get fussy if there is two DHCP servers adn two lots of Network Address Translation (NAT). Port Forwarding and Port Triggering are both forms of NAT.
A DSL modem may well route as well and do this by issuing IPs by DHCP as default. The router could be as well.
Use this site as a reference in the first instance.
If your Devices are listed click on them.
Then choose iChat in the list of games and appications.
The following page will tell you the default User ID and Password as well as the IP to type in to a web browser to gain access to the set up pages.
Somethimes in the pics you can see where the UPnP setting is. (if you have it). Sometimes it is on the set uo pages but not shown in the pics as they concentrate on Port Forwarding.
You need to set up your LAN with no more than one DHCP server and only one lot of NAT if you have to use it.
Setting Static Addresses can get around the DHCP problem.
Tell us what devices you have ?

30 munites ago when ı touch the phone, my phone was not turned on. I searched the internet but ı don't know WHAT SHOULD I DO. I'am crying CAN YOU HELP ME!!!!

I started having the same problem after updating to IOS 8.3 on my IPhone 6.  Phone keeps shutting down and the only way to open again is to hold both the home and sleep button.  Being plugged into the charger makes no difference nor does the level of charge.  Has never happened until today after the update, just randomly shuts down while wearing it on my hip.  All apps seem to work fine while it is on.  I might need to return to IOS 8.2 if this continues to be an issue. Has not done it while in use yet.

    Hello,
If a sad iPod icon or an exclamation point and folder icon appears on your iPod’s screen, or with sounds of clicking or HD whirring, it is usually the sign of a hard drive problem and you have the power to do something about it now. Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
If you're having trouble, try these steps at different levels one at a time until the issue is resolved. These steps will often whip your iPod back into shape.
Make sure you do all the following “TRYs”
    A. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
    B. Try another FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
    C. Try another FireWire or USB port on your computer .
    D. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
    E. Try to download and install the latest version of iPod software and iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
For old and other versions of iPod updater for window you can get here
    http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=7369
    F. Try these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    G. Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
If none of these steps address the issue, you may need to go to Intermediate level listed below in logical order. Check from the top of the lists to see if that is what keeping iPod from appearing on your computer in order for doing the Restore.
    Intermediate Level
    A. Try to connect your iPod with another computer with the iPod updater pre-installed.
    B. Still can’t see your iPod, put it in Disk Mode and connect with a computer, instead of doing a Restore on iPod Updater. Go and format the iPod instead.
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool”.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=501330&tstart=0
    C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iTunes 7.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

    Advance Level
    A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
    iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". The scroll wheel will not function while in diagnostic mode. For further details on Diagnostic mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/
Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.
    B. Format your iPod with a start disk
I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ at your own risk
    http://www.ipodresq.com/index.php
Just in case that you are at the following situation
    Your iPod warranty is expired
You don’t want to pay any service charges
You are prepared to buy a new one
You can’t accept the re-sell value of your broken iPod
Rather than leave your iPod as paper-weight or throw it away.
You can try the following, but again, only do it as your last resort and at your own risk.
Warning !!!! – It may or may not manage to solve your problem, and with a risk that you may further damage your iPod, which end up as an expensive paper weight or you need to pay more higher repairing cost. Therefore, please re-consider again whether you want to try the next level
    Last Resort Level
    1. . Disconnecting the Hard Drive and battery inside the iPod – Warning !! Your iPod warranty will be waived once you open the iPod.
In Hong Kong there are some electronic shops offering an iPod service for Sad iPod, the first thing they do is to open up the iPod’s case and disconnecting the battery and the Hard Drive from the main board of the iPod. Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. In case you want do it itself and you believe that you are good on fixing the electronics devices and have experience to deal with small bits of electronic parts, then you can read the following of how to open the iPod case for battery and HDD replacement (with Quicktimes)
    http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/index.cfm?page=Video/directory.html
2.Press the reset button on the Hard Drive inside the iPod – Suggestion from Kill8joy
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2438774#2438774
Have I tried these myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Therefore, I agree with suggestion to have it fixed by a Pro.
    2. Do a search on Google and some topics on this discussion forum about “Sad iPod”

I am not suggesting that you should follow as well, but just read them as your reference. You are the person to make the call.
Finally, I read a fair comments from dwb, regarding of slapping the back of the iPod multiple times
Quote “This has been discussed numerous times as a 'fix'. It does work, at least for a while. In fact I remember using the same basic trick to revive Seagate and Quantam drives back in the mid to late 1980's. Why these tiny hard drives go bad I don't know - could be the actuator gets stuck in place or misaligned. Could be the platter gets stuck or the motor gets stuck. 'Stiction' was a problem for drives back in the 80's. Unfortunately the fix can cause damage to the platter so we temporarily fix one problem by creating another. But I know of two instances where a little slap onto the table revived the iPods and they are still worked a year or more later.”UnQuote

  • OS X Server. Please help me. I feel like crying.

    Hello.
I am so tired of this. My Mac mini server is acting up again. There were over 80 user accounts that seemed like they should be hidden that appeared in the Server app. I deleted them. Then over 110 groups appeared in the server app appeared. I deleted three of those. Open Directory isn't working. Authentication is acting up. It won't let me connect remotely to the server from other Macs using my main user account on the server. I looked on my user accoount on the server, and whenever I try to give myself permission to administer the server, the Server App just freezes. Please help me. I am so tired of this.
ANY HELP, ANY AT ALL WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
    Thanks.
    Sincerely,
    Austin

    Hi
Without any more details regarding which accounts you deleted (I don't want to appear harsh as you are asking for help) it's possible you may have shot yourself in the foot?
There are a large number of (UNIX) accounts you should not be deleting that are essential to the proper working order, not only of the server but, more fundamentally, of the OS itself. Ordinarily you won't see these accounts although a situation may sometimes arise where you (or some other mechanism) may have inadvertently and/or unknown to you, selected an option that shows you those hidden accounts in the Server.app GUI.
Apart from the Server.app you'd normally use Terminal or Directory Editor (available in the Directory Utility app stored in /System/Library/CoreServices) to see hidden accounts. I usually use the command line utility 'dscl' to view users (hidden or visible) in OS X. Below is the output of pretty much any OS X (server or otherwise) going back to at least 10.2:
    dscl . -list /Users

If you've deleted all of the the users and/or groups beginning with underscore then you've truly shot yourself in the foot and unless you really know what you're doing it may be quicker if you simply reinstalled the OS? Possibly even format and install? If you've deleted some of these user/groups then it's likely you will start seeing random and intractable behaviour with either the OS, Server.app or both. In either case it's not surprising you feel like crying.
There are a number of 'golden' rules you should be aware of that are crucial to the proper working order of OS X Server. In no particular order these are:
    1.  before doing anything else configure DNS services properly
    2.  try and understand the UNIX underpinnings of OS X
    3.  avoid using .local (mDNS) as the basis for your internal/private domain
    4.  unless you really know what you're doing try not to fiddle
    5.  DNS
    6.  backup as often as possible
    7.  DNS
    8.  have as many backups as you can afford
You'll notice DNS is mentioned a number of times because it really is very important. The above is not definitive in any way.

  • Someone PLEASE Help Me my NEW iPhone 5S Having Glitches and Im Crying Right Now

I just got this as a replacement phone for the previous iPhone 5S which I  SHOULD have kept that one since I wasn't having problems much. First of  all, Twitter push notifications weren't working then I fixed it by going  to reset settings..NOW when I'm in 3G or 4G LTE mode, at times I'm NOT  getting push notificatoins whenever someone sends me messages!! it used  to send me messages and push notifications for my previous iPhones!! How  can I fix this problem?? Does it sound like a software bug problem? if I  update to the latest iOS version, should it work?? This happened when I  first used this phone. Do you think it SHOULDNT be the device?? I am  very NERVOUS because I don't want to get stuck to this 2 yr contract my  mom yelled at me saying i cant do anymore replacements because it will  cost extra which it did!! (shipping fee and also 30 dollars) . Also I already went to settings and EVERYTHING is set to ON and when I have received push notification, sometimes sound doesn't appear so it sounds like a glitch..is this the device that's causing this or the software?? when I'm not on Wifi mode, on KIK Messenger and Facebook push notications did NOT appear even someone sent me message. I'm extremely feeling like crap because my mom told me I can't replace it due to so many extra money via shipment etc.

Glad I could help. You may have called Apple support, as their phone support is only free for 90 days after purchase. After that time, you have to pay for phone support.

    Hello,
I would recommend taking a look at the article below for more information about migrating your iTunes library.
