Help determining minimum system requirements needed

I plan to buy a used ibook and I am driving myself crazy try to figure out how much RAM I need and the CPU speed. I want to do basic things like internet browsing, to include video streaming (i.e. youtube), MS Office applications and Quickbooks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You may find that the iBook can't stream YouTube videos smoothly anymore. You certainly wouldn't be able to watch them in HD.
Depending on the iBook you get (and how lucky you are), your iBook might do alright with streaming.
For reference: I have an iBook G4 with the 1.07 GHz processor & 768MB of RAM. It does alright with streaming video on Megavideo & YouTube, but the video is noticeably slower than what I see on my MacBook. Veoh.com did work, but I can't stream the videos from abc.com.
The last iBooks had a 1.33GHz (in the 12") or a 1.42 GHz (in the 14") processor, and have 512MB of RAM on the logic board. You could add up to 1GB to that. I'd say get the fastest one you can afford--and seriously consider getting a MacBook, if that's at all in your budget.

  • OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for this installer. 10.6.0 is the minimum required

How do I get my software? This is the message I am hitting before my download will complete:
OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for this installer.
10.6.0 is the minimum required for installation.

    Hi,
May I know what are you trying to download ?
What is the MAC OS version you are using ?
It seems you are trying to download an application which needs atleast 10.6 MAC version
I think you are using lower version of MAC, let us know the version of your MAC , in order to help better .
To check the version  : click on Apple Button on top left
select about this MAC, you will get to know the version over there.
If its something 10.5.x , then you need to upgrade your MAC in order to install that application which needs 10.6 MAC
    Thanks,

  • Error: The installed graphics card does not meet the minimum system requirements by Aperture

I have a Mac Pro 3.1 10.5.8 and Aperture 2.1.4.  My NVida 8800gt with 512 mb was over heating so I brought and install the ATI radeon hd 5770 to replace it.  Now when I try to start Aperture I get this message "Error: The installed graphics card does not meet the minimum system requirements by Aperture".  All other software works fine, ie photoshop elements and Safari.  When I install my old card aperture will open with no problem, but of course the card will overheat within 10 mins and I will have no video.  I have search on google with no luck.  Will upgrading to Aperture 3 fix this problem?

    5770 requires 10.6.5.
The 8800GT - there is the 350* bake in over 10 minutes - 50% or better chance
you can find 8800GT on http://myworld.ebay.com/macvidcards/

I have a Mac Pro earley 2008 with 16gb ram and the original ATI Radeon 2600 XT 256mb ram card.
After searching everywhere and finding no helpful info I just went to amazon and serched video cards for Mac Pro. The Asus HD 6450 silent and others came up. They all show PC compatibatily but since Mac is now PC structure I think allmost any card will work that is PCI-e.
I purchased the Asus HD 6450  for $39.00 with $10 rebate and it worked great, ( plug and play ).
My startup is way faster than before and graphics are way better.
The DVI works great with my Viewsonic and if you need to connect more than one monitor the DVI and VGA are secondary. If your main monitor is HDMI than you will have no problems using more than 2 screens in sharing mode.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 Minimum System Requirements

Help me Obi Wan Kenobi....You're my only hope
I own a Dual 867 MHz Power PC G4 with 1.25 GB of ram and want to purchase Final Cut Studio 2, OS X v10.5 Leopard and Adobe Photoshop CS3. I know Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Leopard are compatible, However what concerns me is Final Cut Studio 2. These are the Minimum System Requirements stated [A Mac computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4 or G5, Intel Core Duo, Intel Core 2 Duo, or Intel Xeon processor] So my question is would Final Cut Studio 2 work efficiently or even at all on my computer? My thinking is with collectively 1734 GHz power it should work, But i could also be delusional. I really would hate to end of buying it only to find put it won't work.
    Thanks in advance!!!

If you're LUCKY, you might find a replacement processor card for your MDD Powermac G4 - (ideally dual 1.42GHz) - maybe eBay? - maybe from a Mac "breakers yard"? or someone selling off parts from a blown motherboard example?
It's a drop-in replacement, assuming you're OK with a screwdriver and replacement thermal paste.
    Edit: Hey! There you go:

  • What are the minimum system requirements for GB 4?

What are the minimum system requirements for GB 4? I did search this forum but wasn't able to find a direct answer.
I'm running version 3.0.4 successfully on a lowly G4 733 but I suspect this is as far as I can go.
I'm updating to iDvd'08 and was also wondering if I can safely update to GB4 or not (from GB 3.0.7) on a G4 733 mhz Digital Audio. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. My guess is that I cannot but I'd like to confirm prior to attempting any further updates in GB.

I try my best to play it safely; always. And you were right, everything worked on the ext. FW HD flawlessly ...... truly amazing software!
(I did happen to check the activity Monitor w/in Utilities and it showed GB4 using about 60-67% of the CPU on a G4 733 ..... I'm assuming this is normal).

Not sure if there's a correct order to opening these apps as there has been in former versions of iLife ..... however, this (as shown above) is the order in which I opened all apps, and all worked well.

I am not 100% sure this is the issue, but I saw a different thread about the ATI Radeon HD 2600 not being OpenCL compatible for another program and that a newer compatible graphics card would be required to solve the problem.  I am getting the same message with my 2007 iMac 24".

  • Projector Minimum System Requirements

This information must be on the Adobe site, but I've not had any luck tracking down the information...
When creating a Mac and Windows projector in CS4, what are the minimum system requirements to open the created files on a Mac or in Windows?

oh, you're correct.  maybe bw can find something for you.  i don't know that answer.
but i'm not sure that answer will be helpful because what you probably want to know is if your projector file will run smoothly (with close to its intended frame rate) and not whether it will run, at all.  and that's quite a different question.

  • IPod classic - minimum system requirements

    Hi,
I recently lost my late 2009 160gb iPod classic and am looking to replace it with the same model. As far as I can tell, the ipod classic has not been updated at all since this version.
When I bought it back in 2009 there was a minimum system Mac requirement of os 10.4.11. I am using an ancient eMac with os 10.5.8 and iTunes 10.6.3 (the latest versions for a power PC mac which worked perfectly with my old ipod.
Now, however, on the Apple website, it states a minimum system requirement of os 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.7 for the iPod classic. I won't be updating to a new Mac for at least a year.
Will a new iPod classic therefore still work with my eMac or not?  After all, if the ipod classic hasn't changed as it seems to say everywhere, then there shouldn't be a problem. Maybe there HAS been a minor internal update to it that I haven't read about.
Can anyone tell me for certain what the situation is as I don't want to spend all that money and not be able to use the new iPod?
    Many thanks.

Thank you for your reply. I think I will go into an Apple store in the next few days and see if I can get a definitive answer.
I am not computer literate at all and have no idea how easy/difficult it would be to do something to the software of the iPod to make it only work with a newer version of OS10. I'm guessing it would be quite straight forward though. However, seeing as though the classic hasn't been updated since 2009, why would they bother?
I suppose it could be a way for Apple to sell more computers (as you now need a newer Mac to be able to use the iPod.) Then again, maybe they've done nothing at all to the iPod and just put a higher minimum spec on the box so you believe you need a new computer!
If I can get an answer from the Apple store I will let you know. I'm certain though I will get a standard response along the lines of 'we can only go by what the minimum specification states.'

I'm trying to download the trial version of Adobe Illustrator. An error message says that the OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for the installer. 10.6.0 is the minimum required for installation. How do I get my mac to be a 10.6.0 ? Right now I have a 10.5.8 is there a way to upgrade or something?

Buy the Snow Leopard retail installer (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA).
That will take you to 10.6.3.
If required you can then use the combo updater to get to the latest version, 10.6.8 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399)

  • Is there a minimum system requirement workaround?

I know that developers recommend, or force, minimum system requirements for a reason, to give the users the best experiance. However, this negates system upgrades (especially from third-parties). For example, I wish to run encyclopaedia britannica 2007 on my dual 1.6GHz powermac G4, the minimum being a G5 processor. Surely this configuration is enough. My question is 'is there a way I can bypass this check on, not just britannica, but other software (e.g. is there an application to 'fool' the system)?' Thanks alot.

One thing to note is that developers usually will not support their products on systems that don't meet the published minimums. So if you get it to install but have a problem, it''s quite likely that the publisher will refuse to assist. So think about that before purchasing any product that doesn't meet the minimums.
And I'd highly recommend that you confirm that any such product will at least install on your system before you buy the software; some installer checks flat cannot be bypassed.
is there an application to feign higher system components?
    No.

It is a easy fix to this problem.

Yuo will see the imovie icon waiting to install.
3.clic the sub menu tab and select "try apdate in an hour" option from the sub menu.
