Correct KiltedTim the iPhone does not have a disk drive, and it does give an error message about running out of disk space. I'm here searching for how to clear it and/or what causes it. A friends 8gb iphone 3G has started giving her that message. It is not jailbroken, has no videos, 400 songs, 20 apps. The system information says there is 0 bytes free. There is 4.6 Gb of "other" data taking up the remaining free space. None of the few apps on the phone I expect would take up that much space with data. Even her emails and saved text messages shouldn't fill 4GB. New iPhone coming in the next couple of days. Easiest to just reset the old one after the upgrade and redownload the apps to make sure not to mess things up.

Running out of Disk Space. Need HELP !
I have transfered a number of VHS tapes to imovie which has chewed up a lot of disk space. I would like to save the raw footage to a DVD disk after extracting key scenes from the tape.
My understanding is that as imovie receives footage it converts the footage into clips. My goal then I would think would be to give the clips associated with the tapes saved to DVD. My questions
1. I cannot find the clips on my hard drive ! Where are they on my hard drive ?
2. In what format do the clips exist - quicktime ?
-note I want to keep the raw clips so I can use them in the future.
3. Is there an advanced guide which will help me understand more about how iMovie and iDVD work ?
4. Is the a good FAQ guide.Hi Rob - the clips are stored within the imovie project 'package'. You can open that package by Control-Clicking it and then choosing 'Show Package Contents'. The clips are then found within the Media folder. Note that it is very unwise to fiddle with the contents of that folder as it can break the link between them and the project to which they are related.
If you want to use some of the clips in other projects, you can drag and drop them from one open iMovie window to another project's open window ... or do a Copy and Paste. You could keep your original project as the clip-storage location, from which you copy and paste into other projects. Note that because of the non-destructive editing method that imovie employs, plus the space-demanding DV format (13 GB per hour of video) you can quickly run out of storage capacity. Many people buy a large capacity external drive (formatted for Macs!) to overcome this issue.
The clips are in DV format which is the lossless format suitable for editing purposes - it is the format that imovie HD is designed for.

Disk Space Disappearing After Today's Updates - Please help
Hi there everyone. I'm having major problems with my mac pro today, and for the first time, I cannot fix it. Please help me. I will try to explain what happenned. Like most, I was very excited about the release of ios 5 today. I downloaded the Lion 10.7.2 update, the ios 5 updates, iTunes and the iPhoto update. I installed of these without problems and then I enabled iCloud. I then decided to first update and restore my iPad 1 to ios 5. This worked perfectly fine and my computer was running fine. Then, I decided to update my iPhone 4 next. This is when I started running into problems. I updated it and then went to restore it from a a backup. This did not work, I got an error message that told me it was unable to restore the phone becasue it was unable to create backup.
So, I then checked the disk space for the main Lion drive and it was at zero. I thought, well I was sure I had at least a few gigs, but maybe I used them. So i deleted enough files to create 5GB of free disk space. I then tried to run it again, and I watched as my disk space slowly went down to zero again. I thought maybe it needed even more space than that. So I rebooted the machine and yet my disk space did not reappear. I had about 200mb when I rebooted. Then i noticed it was randomly fluctuating and went down to zero again. I then deleted another 3gb of files and created more disk space to try again. The same thing happenned again. I have now rebooted the machine again. When it first rebooted it had 500mb of disk space, it then fluctuated and went down to zero again. It is going between 67mb and zero every minute or two, and then goes up to 400MB, then reduces down to zero again. What is happenning? I have not opened any applications except for safari right now. Do we think there is a problem with my virtual memory or disk all of a sudden? It seems strange this happenned today. it must be related to one of the updates? I thought it might be icloud. So I have diabled that completely and the fluctuations have not stopped.
I would really appreciate any help anyone can give. I cannot think what the problem is. I cannot even run Techtool to check anything because nothing is working with no space for memory. Every time I delete files it goes down to zero anyway.

Help Please - Running out of Disk Space
I run minimal apps on my iMac.
Hard drive size:1000GB
Using "get info" under my Mackintosh HD, I have the following space used:
Applications folder uses: 33.13 GB
Library folder uses: 8.94 GB
System folder uses: 4.95GB
Users folder uses: 3.61 GB
for a total used of about 50 GB
But when I do "get info" on my Mackintosh HD, it says I have 899 GB used.
Where are the other 849 GB being used? I'm running out of space with no way to figure out what is using the space.
I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
Yes. I have rebooted. The used disk space amount remains the same.

SCCM 2012 - Prmary Server keeps running out of disk space - HELP!

I have a primary server that has been extended a few times now and cant stretch any more, plus makes no sense as its only going to get filled up again.
I am sitting here with a server and its installation folder at 0bytes. Everytime I recover some space I lose it
I tried running Treesize on the server and I dont get access to some folders in the CM install folder so the reports are not very accurate.
Please can someone point me in the right direction?Its Microsoft support that told me to delete - eek!
Have already changed to 1 day to see if that tidies things up, didnt last night though but a lot of the files were in Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\auth\dataldr.box\BADMIFS\DeltaMismatch
So be aware that all of your client will need to preform a full inventory and send that back up to your site. Also be aware that you might need to force some client to do this too. there blog will show you how to do that. But wait for you site to be stable

Sometimes your windows serial number might work in MAC version but this is not always the case. You can try downloading the trial version of MAC version and then see if your serial number works. If it does then there is no need to return anything IMHO. -

8gbs memI would try it on a PC and see if you can format it, then put it back on the Mac and try again. If it's not seen on a PC, then there's the strong likelihood that there's a hardware issue; either the bridge/chip set or the HD itself is dying/dead. There's also the small possibility that the cable is faulty, so I'd try a different cable too.

Time Capsule keeps disconnecting while trying to backup or copy files, can someone please help me?
I have a MacBook Pro, a Desktop PC running Windows 7 and a wifi router connected to the Broadband Internet. All devices share the same local network.
My Time Capsule (early 4th Generation) is connected via ethernet directly to the modem, I'm also able to connect wirelessly.
I also have an external seagate 3t drive connected to the time capsule.
For some strange reason, my Time Capsule keeps disconnecting form the Network after I try to access the data either in the tc or the hd, however the light is always green.
The problem mainly happens when copying data either from my Windows PC or my MacBook Pro: eventually, the connection between it and the Time Capsule is lost, interrupting the copy. It keeps happening every time, after a while, and only gets fixed rebooting Windows and the Time Capsule. I can't copy my PC data.
I've tried soft and hard reset, the time capsule it's discoverable again and able to connect either via ethernet or wirelessly, however if I try to copy something to it or do a backup, it immedialty disconnects itself.
Can someone please try to help me solve this issue?

I presume this is modem as well.. please give all the details of the modem router .. make and model and what role it has in the network.. ie main router or bridged. If wireless is running what you do with it. Are devices connected to the modem router and so some devices are connected only indirectly to the TC?

Make and model listed above, not sure about the bridge thing but in the image above it says something about encapsulation, does that help? If the wireless is running, (I assume you are talking about TC) I usually backup my MBP and my Windows PC, I also have a Seagate 3T Connected to the TC and I save music, photos and files on it to share within my network. Yes there are tons of devices connected to the modem, eg. Mac, MBP, MAir, Ipads, AppleTVs, iphones, printers, etc. Although when I first set-up time capsule (about 1 ½ years ago) I created a wireless network connection, Nobody ever connects to that network to access the internet, the only person that connects to the TC is me and that will be either through my MBP or my pc.
I think I should mention that my ISP modem is connected to my PC through and Ethernet cable, although I connect wirelessly to it and my TC is also using an Ethernet cable to connect to the modem, however I sometimes connect to TC wirelessly. Not sure if you needed to know that be just in case.
What setup and role does the TC have.. ie is it router or in bridge. If the main modem is also router than the TC must be bridged.

Has this been stable in the past and now has failed.. or was it always bad?
Answer: Yes!, it used to be stable before, I really never had issues, this has happened since last November I think.

I’m about to do your recommendations after I finish typing this, however I thought I should mention that while on Windows 7, I am only able to see the TC on Airport Utility as soon as I unplug the TC and plug it back in, other than that TC doesn't show up on it, I am only able to see the TC through Windows Explorer/Network. Also sometimes while I’m doing something else, like being on the net, I notice the HD connected to the TC seems to be reading something
All SMB compatible names.. that is for windows to work properly.. so short.. 2-10 is plenty of characters.. but make 20 the limit, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. (This is narrow, but easy to remember).

Exactly what format is the USB drive? Is it partitioned GUID and formatted HFS+ on the Mac?? this is the only way really.
Answer: The Hard Drive connected to the TC is a Seagate 3t, I did do a partition GUID and half of it is to be used in my mac and the other in pc, I had no issues in the past with these partitions, I was able to save files from my MBP to the HD and from my PC to the HD, and then later able to see either files on both my mac or pc.
I use my TimeMachine to Backup on the TC and it backs up both the TC and the HD connect it to it, I then have another HD connected to my MBP and do another backup there, I have lost information in the past and that’s is why I do so many backups.
I also wanted to mention that most of the time the TC disappears from the network is when I try to copy something to it.
I'm also enclosing a couple of photos of my windows airport utility, I am not sure if they will help you know something, I deleted my name and Ip address.
