HELP - Export Transparent Image in CS3

There used to be a very useful function in CS2 under Help which was Export Transparent Image. What happened to that function in CS3 and how the hell do I export transparent image now in CS3?
Please help, this is quite urgent.
Thanks.

I hear what you are saying Noel... But I came to these forums in good  faith  with a question about a tool I found useful that was no longer available. I  admit I let my frustration show in my first several postings about this because  in the other topic on this issue, one of  the staffers here even tried to say  the function did not even exist. That in  combination with the attitude that 'anyone that would use this function must have no experience' or should be  using Photoshop Elements did not strike me as either very helpful or polite. I  would never let one of my staff treat a customer who came to us seeking help to act this way. It is inexcusable and I saw from the other postings that I am not the  only one who feels this way.
Here is a selction of a few of the things she said to me... she seems to have  confused me with someone else?
"Dear same idiot who feels the need to use PM to continue an  ended/locked/deleted forum discussion,"
"There  is no point in continual messaging unless you feel it is some sort of  release for your mental condition. Your message is clear. I have no problem  comprehending your words. I simply disagree with your insane  beliefs. I  understand fully who used the function and why it  was removed. I was simply stating a fact and offering an alternative that  you seemed to ignore. I don't care if the function meant something more  to you. Nothing I can  do is going to bring it back or afford you any better  people skills.  You need to get over this... and get over me"
"I  just found the Google cache of the closed thread and realized that you   may not be the same idiot that contacted me earlier using a fresh forum   account. But that still does not make you any less of an idiot."
"The  question posed in the forum was "How do I export transparent images in   CS5 like I did in CS4?" The question was "viable" and answers were given  by  others and myself. Just because you do not like an answer does not  mean you  have to act like a child."
"The answer was not to beg Adobe to bring it back in a user to user  forum. If you want to communicate with Adobe, go to their feature  request form."
"If you were a designer for 30 years, you would have known how to make a  transparent file prior to the Help function that Adobe added for a  few versions. With that Help function gone, you should now have the  intelligence to craft an action to do the same thing with the press of a  button. It  is not really a challenge. If you need assistance, bring this topic  back  to the public forum. Your rude PMs are worthless to us both."
"I look forward to further discussion in  the public forum where you don't need to hide your personal problems in  PMs."
I find these kind of responses by a staff member of Adobe forums to abusive  in nature. Granted after getting this kind of rude response back to my  questions, I returned in like kind. I usually do not have these kinds of  interactions online, I find them childish and a waste of time. They do nothing  for the greater good of the forums and help no one. but I don't take kindly to  being treated with disrespect.
I hope this does not exemplify the tenor of communication here on Adobe's  forums. If so... it would be a shame, because Adobe has a great reputation in  our community. It would be a shame to let a few individuals tarnish it.
I for one would prefer that the person is question has no further  communication with me. I think that would be best for all concerned. Thank  You.

  • Need help exporting transparent gifs for flash - rough edges

    Hello,
I have a flash header i am building for a website. The layers i am exporting for web have a rough white edge (gif.s - save for web). Basically I am trying to transition the flower group to another color saved from a layer in Photoshop.
Would a path help? The image in the library is set to allow smoothing.
Here is a link to a screen shot in a new window.

  • [Help] Export: the image size

    dear all,
I am trying to export the image from AI. I set the document size 256*256 px when I create new document.
after I finish my image, i wanna export to the same size, that is 256*256 px.
however, if I use 128dpi "resolution", I will not get 256*256 px.
now does anyone now how I can get the same size of exported image as I set in the begining?
Thank you for your kind help.

File-->Export-->TIFF(save as type) & Use ArtBoards- (All)-->TIFF Options (Color Model(GrayScale), Resolution (Screen), -->OK
If you use high Resolution, your file size will become bigger, for instance, if you set the size 1inch when you create the documents, which 72pixels*72pixels you work arear. later if you  use "300dpi", you will get the 300pixel*300pixel output images, if use " 150dpi", u will get the 150*150 pixels images.
my stupid question is because i didn't know the "screen" mean and didn't use it. . but anyway, it's solved with "screen'
P.S :this is the fist post for me here
PP.S: dpi (dot per inch), somehow, means ppi(pixel per inch)

  • Export trans image in PS CS5 help

I've moved from photoshop 7.0 to CS5 extended 12.5 in a single bound. To export a transparent image in ps7 you just wentto the help menu and selected 'export transparent image'.... can you please tell me where this feature is in the new ps cs5 extended?

The likely reason why this function no longer exists is because it was not just "a single bound". That wizard asked too many questions to make it useful (several clicks to answer those questions). It is much easier to simply save as the proper file format: PSD, TIF, PNG, GIF.

  • PhotoShop CS3 Transparent Image Export

In Adobe PhotoShop CS3 Windows version where is the "export as transparent image" feature which was there in the Help Menu earlier? Or is there some other of achieving the same result?

    That's baloney, Ed, "IMHO."
Most of us don't fully understand how Photoshop goes about applying JPEG compression algorithms. By your reasoning it would be "improper" for us to save files as JPEGs. I'm just glad that this functionality is built in so that I easily take advantage of the functionality.
Of course there's added value in knowing how to save an image in the format best suited to one's purpose. But the people who miss the wizard are just looking for functionality that has suited them well in the past. What authority do you have to deem this "improper"?

  • How to export my image with transparent bkground (CC)

Before I ask my question, I want to point out I am currently exporting my image by going to File>Export>.PNG>(72PPI+Transparent)
The issue im running into is; for example when I am exporting text, I am also exporting a certain amount of area around my image. How can I export the exact outline of my image? I have posted a screen shot of what im refering to.
When I wanted to use my text image for a website I was building I noticed I couldnt get the image to center. I opened the image in paint and noticed I was exporting the area around my image aswell and not just the image itself. Hopefully the screen shots can explain my scenario a little better...
I would like to export the text outline only. As you can see in paint I am exporting a fixed area around my image.
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!! THANK YOU -JON-

The image was created in Illustrator. I opened the file in Photoshop and I see that area around my image aswell. I would like to just export the highlighted area. When im exporting through Illustrator, I would like to export a tighter area the image, not so much area around

  • Help with exporting and image size or boundaries?

I am trying to slide the cat into the scene a little at a time foir an animation project I am working on. However, when I export the image the back ground of the image expands with a checkered back ground( showing here in white) and shows the whole cat.
How do I just show a little of the cat on the image at a time when exporting. I am trying to give the impression that the cat is walking into the room. I do not want to have to cut the cat up.
I would be thankful for any suggestions.

  • When exporting files to web pages Aperture keeping losing files, so for instance, if I choose to export 600 images to a new web page, it might do 524 images but not the full 600. I've tried resetting Aperture, it's the latest version etc etc. Help please!

If anyone can help me with this I would be seriously grateful.
When exporting mutliple files to web pages Aperture keeping losing files, so for instance, if I choose to export 600 images to a new web page, it might make 524 pages but not the full 600. I've tried resetting Aperture and its persmission and am using the latest version of 3.
I have 3600 images which I need to upload as sublfolders, each with their own URL and at the moment Aperture is dropping of anything from 1 to 90 images.
This is critical as people need to see each and every on of these images online. So if a file has 600 photos in it, Aperture should make a URL with 600 full image pages. And this is what it's not doing. On small files, say 30 or so it seems to work well, it's when it gets to more than that the problem starts.
I've used Aperture in the past under previous versions and not had this problem.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.
    Bob.

    Hi Jack,
Thanks for responding (as it seems as though no one else has been able to provide any insight as of yet)! Not sure if you saw my recent post, but the version of Aperture on the 2008 MacBook has been upgraded to 3.1.2 (not sure how; I bought it in 2009, but only have OS X 10.5.8... which apparently can't house 3.1.2 of Aperture, but hey, like many other anomalies i'm encountering, I'm no longer surprised!). I am unable to upgrade it any further, as it warns me that my OS X does not fit the requirements. I exported the projects as libraries; however, like I posted before, apparently these are from too old of a version for the new Aperture (3.3.1) to handle and import.
It's getting to the point where I'd almost pay to upgrade the OS X on my previous MacBook (10.5.8) to something newer in order to THEN update Aperture to a newer version; however, my previous MacBook simply cannot handle this (the specs are awful -- hence my decision to save up and upgrade to the newest MBP with Retina).
I've spent hours upon hours transferring files, libraries as projects, previews, versions, even masters (though, apparently some of them aren't accessible?) with no luck. I've rebuilt the library and reprocessed everything. And this is all after having to return one MBP already since Aperture 3.3.1 is glitch-y as it is, and froze everything for having a "managed library". So, now that I know that I have to deal with a referenced library in Aperture... I just need to actually transfer my previous library to my new one (hopefully WITH adjustments since these are years worth of photos and work).
Again, any help is appreciated. I've lost enough sleep, time, and vision health over this at this point.
Also, I know Migration Assistant is an option, I was told that it wouldn't work properly anyway because of the different operating systems, and the potential for problems.

  • I still use Aperture 2.1.4.  I need to export an image file with a CMYK profile.  Whereas a generic CMYK profile is listed in ColorSync Utility, it does not appear on the list of profiles in the edit portion of the export preset dialogue.  Help?

I still use Aperture 2.1.4.  I need to export an image file with a CMYK profile.  Whereas a generic CMYK profile is listed in ColorSync Utility, it does not appear on the list of profiles in the edit portion of the export preset dialogue.  Help?  Is there some way to add the CMYK profile to the list of choices that are available in the export preset dialogue such that I can choose it?

    leonieDF
Thanks for your response.  My profiles are located within color sync utility as you can see here:
These profiles do not respond to clicking and dragging.  Since they are all in one place, more or less, I'm reluctant to make further attempts to relocate them.  Accessing the CMYK profile is the first difficult experience I've encountered with this arrangement.  I have never needed the CMYK profile until recently, and that need has now past.  However, it remains a mystery to me as to why it does not appear with all the others on the menu of export choices in Aperture 2, or on the menu of profile assignment choices in the Preview application (where again all the other profiles are listed as choices).  I'm beginning to think my current set up will permit me to view an image that was created in CMYK space, but does not easily assign, or convert to that space.  I don't face these restrictions with all the others, so it remains a curious circumstance for me.  I anticipate upgrading my computer and software in the near future which might alleviate this issue altogether.  Again, many thanks for your attention to this matter.  The reach of this community is astounding.

  • When I export from Lr to CS3 my image size is 8x12 roughly, why?

I shoot RAW with a 5d mark2 I export from lr to cs3 in my workflow. I am wanting to create a gallery wrap at an image size of 24x36, when I go to create my negative space my exported image size from Lr is only 8x12, why would that be? I don't know what to do or how to make my image larger without loosing quality? I have never noticed this before? Why is it doing this now?

It will be the settings in your export menu.

  • Exporting image in CS3

when I try to export an image from a single frame, I get a jpg that includes the whole pasteboard. Is there a simple way to export a cropped image?
    Thanks

You have to educate your customer: EPS is an outdated and lossy file type because it does neither support transparency nor color management and should be avoided to be used with InDesign or Photoshop or Illustrator.
I don't understand, why so many insist in using EPS?

  • How to export a transparent image  background for the web

    Hi Everyone
I have made a mock up webpage in adobe fireworks 5. I am  now in the process of using the slice tool to cut up the seperate parts and export them to dreamwever.
My question is this: how do i slice the images in such a way that the background is transparent .
Also,  when exporting the image that i have just made trasparent,  what do i need to do to expot it as a transparent background.
    warm regards
    Andreea

When you're ready to transfer your Fireworks layout to DW select FILE > Image Preview. In Options select Format PNG8 and beneath the color grid change the No Transparency dropdown to Alpha Transparency.
Click the Export button, name your file, choose the destination location, and in the dropdowns select Export > HTML and Images, HTML > Export HTML File, Slices > Export Slices, Pages > All Pages. (Also some choices may be handy for you in the Options button including Background Image for the exported file.)
PNG can be used, just as JPG, TIFF, PICT, BMP and GIF, all of which are in your Options > Format dropdown list.
Generally JPG is better for files that have gradients, GIF for simple images and text, but they don't do transparency so the larger PNG file is necessary for that.

  • Help needed exporting large image sizes

    Hi All,
I'm a newbie so forgive my lack of understanding here when it comes to exporting to large file sizes. In short I'm trying to export some images for large format printing but am having trouble preparing the right size in LR4.
Specifically I'm trying to produce w 30" x h 20" images. I understand that to do this I'll need a image that is 9000 x 6000 pixels set at 300 ppi. My problem is that when I export this, with the dimensions set to width and height in pixels and resize unchecked LR4 produces an image that is 9000 x 4887?
Would appreciate any thoughts on what i'm doing wrong here? Is it simply that the aspect ratio of image is wrong to produce this size image? My concern is not producing an exact file size for printing.
    Thanks!
    Tom

I've sorted the crop ration for a 3:2 image but resulting in a much smaller image.
Could you give me the details? How much smaller? What size is it? What else did you change other than the aspect ratio?
I then then tried a 16:9 ratio which is much better
Details please? What is better? (And why try this if you need 3:2??)
seem to have run into a similar prob in that calculations say for a 40 x 20 I'll need 6,000 x 12,000 but lr4 will only ouutput 6,000 by 10,667.
You are repeating your initial mistake. Images cropped to 16:9 aspect ratio cannot export to a 3:2 aspect ratio. Only images cropped to a 3:2 aspect ratio will export to a 3:2 aspect ratio.

  • Keynote Export "Transparent video"

This maybe a some tip and trick how to export form Keynote transparent chart animations and what ever...
i looking for answer around the network, but no answerts of this question! So i figure out how to do this and i like to share it (maybe helpful for others)
    1. Create a transparent .png file (i take for example my steps) i created in Photoshop transparent image 1024x576 for PAL Widescreen. Export as .png
    2. Open Keynote, make your own animated chart, pie or whatever you like.
    3. Open inspector > Document inspector set your size. (For my situation i choice 1024x576)
    4. Go to Slide inspector. Under Background choice Image Fill and use your transparent .png image
    5. File/Export.
    6. check include transparency. Under formats choice "Custom"
    7. Choice Settings!
    8. In Video Compression Settings Choice Animation Set your frame rate. Set Keyframes to Automatic. Set Depth to Millions Of Colors + (Quality - set to Best)
    Thats all!
Transparency are not working by default - it works only when you set a transparent Color Fill
this is some kind of Keynote Bug or so...

This also works if in your step 4, you choose "Color Fill", then using the Color well, choose any color you want, AND set its Opacity to 0%.  No need for the transparent .png file this way.
(I sure wish the Include Transparency check box would stay checked from one export to the next!)
Cheers, and thanks for the post.

  • White box behind transparent images with drop shadow in InDesign CC 2014 (v.10) but not in InDesign CC (v.9)

    Hi all,
Please can you help? No matter what settings I use in my print options in InDesign CC 2014 (v.10), ALL transparent images with a drop shadow are printing with a white box behind the image. If I remove the drop shadow, all prints fine. I know this is an old issue that happens with ID sometimes but I have been lucky enough to never have had it happen to me before! (All images are regular flattened TIFF images with clipping paths).
Also, feathered edges are not printing correctly and are sharp instead of feathered.
When I export the document to IDML and open it up in InDesign CC (v.9) all prints perfectly with no white boxes and feathered edges prints perfectly as well. I have compared all of the print settings (including color management, transparency flattener, etc.) between both versions and they are exactly the same. I am printing to a Xerox color laser printer. Can anyone offer any advice?
    Thank you so much,
    Christine

Okay...false alarm! It turns out that the issue was with my PRINTER settings (the settings you customize after hitting the “Printer” button at the bottom of the Print dialogue box in ID CC. I thought I had triple checked this but it seems there was one setting I missed earlier…adjusting the print brightness seemed to cause the issue. SO GLAD to know it was not InDesign…20 or so sheets/prints later….and thankful to know what was causing the issue! Thank you so much Steve for helping at any rate:) Much appreciated:)
