Help! Firewall setting changed to default and can no longer connect

So I was attempting to open up port 8080 outbound and made a number of changes. The issue was still present so I clicked the reset to default for the firewall settings and am now stuck with a box I cannot connect to (Windows Server 2012).
Please can someone shed some light on a solution for me as I don't want to go through the pain of reinstalling everything again.

    Well, I figured this would happen - I switched from AT&T DSL to Charter High-Speed Internet, and the darn cable modem is making my life difficult. When I plug in with an Ethernet cable to my laptop, no problems. But that's no fun.
    When I connect my AE, it's a different story. Connection bars are great (I'm less than five feet away from it now, but posting this using my neighbor's wireless), and the configuration looks just fine in the AirPort Setup Utility. The problem is that I simply can't get anywhere - it won't actually connect to a page. When I use the Apple DNS "test", it recognizes it as an apple.com website and inserts the proper "name", but the computer never gets there.
    What am I missing? Everything does look right on the AE configuration and my computer's wireless settings; I'm just not sure what's going on! Thanks!

    Already noted two things that I forgot - this is with Charter. I checked old posts on the topic, and some have noted a similar problem. This seems to have been resolved with the old 'unplug in random combinations' trick, but that hasn't worked for me yet. I've tried doing my computer, my modem, and my AE in all six permutations of order.

    Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if you can then update the app.
    If you do delete the app then you should be able to re-download your ibook purchases via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the app. But in case some of them are no longer available in the store and/or you have PDFs or epubs in it, then you could first connect it to your computer's iTunes and do File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) which should copy them over to the Books part of your iTunes library so that you have your own copy of them and can sync them back (even though they aren't iTunes purchases it should also copy over any PDFs or epubs that you have in the iBooks app)

    Try connecting your computer/laptop directly to the base station with an ethernet cable to one of the external ports and install your network settings. If it finds it there, it will find it after you've reloaded your network info to the base via the Apple Utility. Hopefully when you disconnect afterward, all will be fine. Be sure not to select "closed" network although Macs will login with no prolem, PC's have trouble doing so even with the network data stored in the internet settings.

    You can't transfer any content from one account to another account (nor can accounts be merged) - all content will remain tied to the account that downloaded it.
    Do you not have copies of all of your downloads e.g. on your computer or backup of your downloads/library ? Whilst you are in Australia you can't redownload your UK purchases (you have to be in a country to use its store), if you have them on your computer's iTunes library then you should be able to stream them from it to your Apple TV

    I have the same problem after loading OS X 10.10 Yosemite on my MacBook Pro (Late 2008).  Wi-Fi (Time Capsule) connects OK, then I open Safari and it waits for a minute and then gives me a message that it can't load the page because I'm not connected to the Internet.  The Wi-Fi is fine.  When I run the network analysis, it shows that everything is fine up to the Internet; the dots are red after that.  I have another MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) and it loaded and runs with no known problems (so far).  I am writing this message on the Late 2008 MacBook Pro, so you can see that there is no problem with the Internet connection.  It is a Yosemite problem.  My iPhone and newer MacBook Pro connect with no problem.  I loaded Yosemite TWICE, then ran the Disk Utility and fixed some disk permissions but there were no other problems identified.  Restarting after reloading Yosemite and the same problem is there.  Restarted after running the disk utility and fixing disk permissions and it still can't connect to the Internet.  Same problem.  Does anyone have an idea how this might be fixed?  What's going on?  Thanks for your help.

  • Disconnect Device through Hotspot and can no longer connect

    I recently disconnected a Windows 7 device through the "Connected Devices" option on the Verizon Hotspot. After disconnecting that Windows 7 device I am no longer able to connect through the Verizon Hotspot. I have removed and added back the hotspot profile in Windows 7 and can still not connect.  I can still however, connect to other devices on the Verizon hotspot.  I receive a simple error message in  Windows 7 to verify the encryption settings even those encryption settings are properly set to WPA2.  It appears that both devices appear to be out of synch.  Has anyone experienced this with other Verizon 4G LTE hotspots?  I generally just disconnect the device or turn off the hotspot when disconnecting however, I did not see any hard whatsoever in disconnecting the device through the hotspot "Connected Devices" option.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to get one of my business laptops that use Windows 7 back online..

    If it's encryption Windows 7 is speaking of, make sure in the wireless adapter settings configuration that not only is on the correct WPA2 as you stated but the encryption matches, such as AES or TKIP.
    Otherwise, removing the connection from the Preferred Wireless Networks list and resetting the device should allow a fresh new start.

  • Just updated KIES and can no longer connect my laptop and S4?

    I've been using KIES for a year.  Was just prompted to update it.  Did so (to version 2.6.0.13091.9) and now I can no longer connect my laptop and Galaxy S4.
    I'm getting the following message which is, of course, nearly worthless:
         Reconnect the device in Samsung Kies (PC Studio) mode.
         Current connection mode not supported by Kies.
         Check the USB settings.
         (Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging (x))
    1) "PC Studio" has no actual meaning; after searching online I found what they're trying to tell me is the phone must be in MTP mode rather than USB debugging mode.
    2) The Settings path above is wrong; I DID manage to find the proper path to turn off debugging & switch to MTP, but that doesn't help.
    3) uninstalled & reinstalled KIES; no help
    Any ideas? 
    I know 1000's of other people are having this problem, so I'm a bit surprised VZ doesn't have a ready answer here.

  • IPad mini safari search bar changed to grey and can no longer clear history

    What has happened?  The panel in safari where you type in web addresses use to be white with black type now it's all grey with white type.  It's awful.  Also I used to be able to clear history but can no longer do this.  Need this option as looking for Christmas presents and don't want kids to see.
    Will be so grateful if anyone can get my ipad back how it was.

    Are you referring to the new colors of iOS 7? If that's the case then there is no way to change it.
    To clear your History:
    1 Tap the Bookmark icon (the one next to the cloud and + icons.
    2 Tap Bookmarks > Select History
    3 Hit Clear (Notice the Clear icon at the bottom).

  • Upgraded to extreme and can no longer connect to xbox live

    My old airport express died so yesterday I bought an airport extreme to replace it. I had no problems setting it up, my powerbook and powermac connect to the internet just fine. My ps3, wii, and apple tv all connect fine. However I lost the ability to connect to xbox live with my xbox360. Running the "Test Xbox Live Connection" test shows that it passes all the tests and is connected to the internet until it reaches the xbox live test where it fails. According to xbox support there are no current outages or problems with my account.
    Since the only thing which has recently changed is the upgrade from airport express to an extreme it seems like that is likely the problem. I thought it might be a NAT or port thing but in the airport setup utility there are no options for changing either NAT or port settings.
    Any ideas anyone? It looks like a year ago when the extreme came out there were problems between it and the xbox, but it also looks like they were resolved. Also they caused the xbox not to be able to connect to the network at all, which mine can do.

    That's a drag.
    I wish I could be more help, but I can not think of what the problem would be. I have mine connected to a network that bridges two AEBS to allow for a large area WIFI. I have no problems with either of the 360's connected. I have no special port forwarding or any settings changed to get the connection.
    I also know that since I just replaced my main base station for an unrelated problem, that it worked out of the box both times.
    I would say try direct connecting it. (the xbox) Not necessarily to correct the problem, but to isolate the AEBS as the problem. I would also try shutting down anything else that may be connecting so you only have a connection with your xbox. Again, none of this will probably solve your issue.... but you can get in contact with customer care or visit a genius bar.
    In my experience if you can give detailed results to test you have already performed to trouble shoot, they are very receptive to replacing your product. Isolating the AEBS and saying you know t will connect direct, and that even when it is the only device connected.... it fails. I would also try both wireless and wired if you have both options.
    I know it is not the optimal answer.... probably a pain.... but sometimes things just work kinda goofy. I know the stuff works and works great when it does... but I have had my share of issues with apple hardware. The good news is they have never failed me when it comes to taking care of it.

  • Installed firmware update, and can no longer connect to AE base station

    I have an Airport Express base station and would like to connect to an existing wireless network.
    I first attempted to change the AE base station to "client mode" in Admin Utility, but this option was grayed out.
    I downloaded and successfully installed the latest version of the firmware, and I also did a factory restart. Now, Admin Utility recognizes the base station, but when I click "configure" and enter my password at the prompt, I get the following message:
    "An error occurred while trying to access the base station. Make sure your network connection Is valid and try again. Error code -4"
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Changed router box - and can't re-connect time capsule ?

    I have upgraded my wlan router box - and therefore changed my network name - and i can't reconnect my time capsule. In airport utility it doesn't pick it up. Please help ?

    Your Time Capsule was programmed to remember the settings to "join" your "old" wireless network. It is still looking for that network to connect, but cannot because the network is no longer there.
    You will need perform a Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule and reconfigure it again with the correct settings for your new wireless network.
    I am sure that you know the name of the network, but you may not know the exact type of wireless security that  your new wireless router is using.
    Check your documentation to find out about this, as you will need to provide the Time Capsule with the correct information to join the new network.
    If the Time Capsule does not receive the right settings, it will not be able to join the network and you will see a blinking amber light instead of green on the Time Capsule after you save the configuration settings by clicking Update.
    The Factory Default Reset is a bit tricky....you almost need 3 hands.
    Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
    Wait 4-5 minutes
    Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in for another 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the Time Capsule
    Release the reset button after the hold period and allow approximately 30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
    Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Continue to follow the guided setup to configure the Time Capsule to "join" your wireless network
    A green light about 25-30 seconds after you click Update will signal a successful setup. If you only get the blinking amber light...you will need start all over with the Factory Default Reset and try again.
    The reset will not affect the existing backups on your Time Capsule, but you will need to reset Time Machine again to get backups going. Post back if you need info on this.
