Help getting to Mac OS X

Question

My iMac got a virus on the windows side of the computer that wouldn't allow me to switch to the Mac OS. After trying many things to get to the OS X side I eventually reformatted both of the partitions in to one. The problem now is that when the iMac starts up it switches over to the windows side, which is no longer there. I'm not able to use any of the startup commands when the computer load, which would allow me to reset the nvram or just choose a different boot up disk. Is there anything I can do that would allow me to use Mac OS on my iMac again?

     If anyone's keyboard is not working at start-up and you need to change partitions from Windows to Mac, the solution is linked at the bottom.

That is impossible.
       Well, it's not because it happened. The computer was in target disk mode so that it would always start-up on the windows side. When the windows side got a virus, it created a white screen over the desktop which wouldn't allow me to goto the taskbar and click "Restart in Mac OS X..."

What a waste of time
       This isn't true either what good is a computer that can't work? My intent was to format and reinstall only the Mac OS X side since I didn't need any of the files on it, however since the EFI boot loader still started to the now non-existant Windows XP partition I wasn't able to do that. On top of that the logic board would not recognize the hard drive that I had just reinstalled Mac OS X on.

Reboot, as soon as you hear the chime press and hold the option key down. Hold it until the Startup Manager appears and then select OS X.
Clearly you did not read the Boot Camp directions, that has already caused you to reformat your entire Mac for no reason. Take the time to read them before you make a further mistake.
       If it was a simple case of pressing the option key as the computer started up I wouldn't have bothered to ask, especially if I knew I was going to get such a rude reply, that piece of information is very obvious and plastered all over the internet. Also if you actually took the time to read what I wrote you would've noticed that I said " I'm not able to use any of the startup commands when the computer load, which would allow me to reset the nvram or just choose a different boot up disk." You are right about one thing I didn't read the instructions; I figured, correctly might I add, that a manual that is titled "Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide" wouldn't be very useful for my problem. However while going through this I did look and see if it had a solution to my problem and I was right it didn't!      Please if you're going to reply, especially in my opinion rude like you did, ask questions first to see if the problem is more complex than you think.
