Help.i cant get itunes to install

i have been trying to install itunes and i keep getting error code 2738 come up when it is installing.i have tried doing what others have said but it still will not install.what can i do please.i have a new iphone and cant get it to work without itunes installed.thanks x

When you say that you have tried what others have said, it doesn't help the person trying to help you. You need to say what you have tried, this saves time and avoids you being told to do something you have already tried.
I haven't encountered this error number before, but according to the Microsoft list of installer errors is means:
"Could not access VBScript run time for custom action"
It's just a guess, but the following might help.
Type cmd into your search box, cmd should come up under programs. Run it with "Run as Administrator".
Paste in the following line:
regsvr32 scrrun.dll
If that doesn't work, try the following:
regsvr32 vbscript.dll

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

Cant get itunes to install properly on windows 7

I upgraded to Windows 7 from vista. I did a new fresh install starting with a new hard drive. The install went fine until I went to install Itunes. Downloaded the latest Itunes and started the install. A good way into the install during the part of the installation when the status screen states "Publising Product Information", I'm getting the following error message:
"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x800736FD."
Following this message, the installer reverses the installation process and after a 10-15 minute wait, a screen comes up that says the Itunes installation was complete. Obviously it wasn't but that is what the message says. When you close out of that message, Itunes tries to start and this message pops up:
"Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall itunes, then install iTunes again.
Error 2"
I have uninstalled and retried the installation process multiple times with the exact same result. I have downloaded the installation file from the iTunes website 3 different times and retried each one to make sure that I didn't have a problem with the installation file.

There seem to be a few different versions of that one going round. So, I'm starting with some questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits and treatments.
(1) Which variety of Windows 7 do you have installed? (For example, Home Premium or Ultimate?) Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
(2) Head into your Windows Update. Are you currently able to download and install updates? If not, check your Update History. Doubleclick on the failed updates. What error codes are being cited for the failed updates?
(3) Do you currently have the Microsoft C++ runtime installed on the PC? If so, which version? 2005 or 2008?

I cant get itunes to install. HELP!

WHenever I try to install itunes 7 it gets stuck on the screen saying "valitading install" THen after about 5-10 min an error message 1905 pops up and says "unable to unregister" or something along those lines.
Do I needs to get rid of itunes 4(which is currently on my comp) to upgrade to 7? How would I do this and would I lose all my music?

The reason I am even bothering to upgrade is because I bought the new nano as a gift and would like to put music on it before I give it. My itunes4 doesnt seem to recognize it and it never shows up when I plug it in? If you could tell me how to get around this problem I wouldnt need to upgrade.

my comp wont put itunes on all i get is 162: failed to complete installation, i have disabled norton anti virus and tried everything and im rubbish on comps. it loads up (itunes)i get an icon on the desktop but when i double click on it an agreemet flashes up and thats it. You can only authorise the songs you purchase from the iTunes Store to play on five computers.
You can download and install iTunes (the iTunes programme) onto as many computers as you wish.
Two different things.
Assuming therefore, that your problem is that you have authorised five computers, but now no longer have some of them, you need to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise the computers you still have.
To de-authorise your computers, go to your account in the iTunes Store and look for the Deauthorise All button.

Okay. There's a security update available for that which has helped a couple of people with a different (installation) iTunes problem, so I think it might be worth trying downloading and installing that:

it keeps saying that the cabinet file itunes cab required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. this could indicate a network error an error reading from the cd-rom or a problem reading from this package. and i have tryed to download it and redownload it so many times and it keeps saying the same thing please help me out i am getting so mad at the stupid thing

Make sure you have most recent Windows Installer 3.1.

I've changed my "My Music" folder and now I cant get iTunes to run!

Ok, Maybe some has a fix for this - I am running Vista and I have moved my "My Music" folder from its original location to its own dedicated hard drive (F:). Now when I install and try to run any iTunes version I get the error "The folder iTunes cannot be found or created and is required. The Default location for this folder is inside the "Music" Folder." I have even gone so far as to create a Music folder under Users\"current user"\ . Does anyone have a workaround or fix to this - I will have to take this computer back if I cant get Itunes to work on it.

IF you are able to get iTunes open you need to go into preferences and change the location of your music directory (Under Advanced) If you are unable to access iTunes you need to recreate the iTunes folder under my music... open up the directory on your F drive and copy the XML document. Place it into the iTunes directory under my music. Open that file up in an HTML editor and change the location of your files in the line that looks like this...
file://localhost/C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/*You're Name*/My%20Documents/My%20Music/iTunes/iTunes%20Music/
Change the C: to the F: and update the rest of the path to point to the right directory. I hope this helps!

1.remove all active versions of itunes

Can't get itunes to install

I had itunes installed on windows, but recently had trouble with the ipod displaying as a drive. In attempt to fix that, I uninstalled, then reinstalled itunes & Quicktime. I also went into program files and deleted the ipod updater folder and the itunes folder.
When I reinstalled itunes, it didn't recognise the ipod however was displaying as a drive in the pc. So I then uninstalled itunes / Quick time and deleted all the folders again and then also deleted the temp files in local settings. Now I can't get itunes to install at all!
Can some help please!!

Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close
the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)
