Help - I need to remove crop marks set in custom function 3

Hello All, I need help! I set the custom function 3 to the on position, thinking it would just give me lines to show where an 8x10 crop would be ~ I did not realize that it would actually crop all of my images. I shoot raw and I have imported them into lightroom, within lightroom I cannot remove the crop. I tried opening in Canon's software, removed the crop, then saved as a TIFF, but 17 files ended up being corrupt.
I see that there is a plug in for LR, but it indicates DNG files, not RAW ~ is there a plug in for RAW? Does anyone know a work around that might help me? Thank you.

You didn't say which Camera you are using except it is a Canon but use this Plugin and see if it works. It outputs DNG files and does NOT change your original CR2 so you will have to use the DNG in Lightroom to see the full image.

Can I remove crop marks using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI?

Mylenium, I hate to ask, but in Acrobat XI, where do I find the Crop Pages feature?
In the right sidebar, under Tools > Pages, I see a Crop command. This seems to allow me to draw a box, but it does not seem very precise.
Under Print Production, I see a Set Pages Boxes command. I can't figure out how this works. I can choose Trim from a pop-up menu and guides show up where they should, but they just disappear when I click OK. (Also, the margin numnbers in that box get set to zero after doing tha; but, I digress.)
So, how can I just accurately trim the page to the trim area?

Remove crop marks from AI CS2 doc?

Hi,
I resized my document from a 8.5 x 11 to a 11 x 14 and then scaled the business card on it up 280% to fit in the new document size in Adobe Illustrator CS2. Everything is working fine except that my existing crop marks for the business card stayed the same size as the business card 3.5 x 2 so how do I remove these? I don't need them anymore.
I will be having this printed so do I need to insert print marks or anything like that?

Removing Crop Marks

I have a 65 page PDF file that I need to cut all of the crop
marks out of. Is there a tool In Acrobat Professional 6.0 which can
trim all of the crop marks off all of the pages for me? I do not
have access to the document that created the 65 page PDF.

Help: XMLTYPE need to remove all blankspaces "between nodes"

Hello,
In a table containing a XMLTYPE column, we've got indented XML.
For each row in this XMLTYPE column, we would need to remove all the numerous blankspaces located in between all ">" and "<"
Basically, we would like the XML to be without its indentation.
Is REGEXP_REPLACE the best way to do it ?
How can we do it ?

I'm trying to disable the monitoring of all
db engine (2005,2008,2012),
except they are added to a specific group.
To do this, I disabled the following
discovery rules for all objects
of SQL Server Installation
2005/8/12 Seed class:
Discover SQL Server 2005 Database
Engines (Windows Server)
Discover SQL Server 2008 Database
Engines (Windows Server)
Discover SQL Server 2012 Database
Engines (Windows Server)
Furthermore I created a group with the servers
I want to monitor the SQL DB
Engine and I've enabled the same
discovery rules.
Once done, I have launched the cmdlet
remove-scomdisabledclassinstance multiple times,
and many of the SQL DB Engine
instances have been removed, but I have
many others that do not disappear.
Any idea?

Did you run “Remove-SCOMDisabledClassInstance”
until it said "completed".
Run “Remove-SCOMDisabledClassInstance”
from the Operations Manager PowerShell console. you might need to to run this multiple times, we will get errors for objectIDs and RuleIDs, but ignore them as the command is doing its thing. and keep running the command again and again until you get "Completed.

Does anyone know how I can remove an item from the "open with" menu?

You could try removing the quicktime .pkg files from the receipts folder in the root library.
The system has to go somewhere to determine eligible applications it can use to open a file.
Each application would contain its base settings in its receipts file.
Once you delete the receipt you should delete the application and reinstall it.
The reinstall will write a new receipts file.
The receipts file is used by your system when it repairs disk permissions.
The system does not just add a setting.
For example if you take a .png file and click on it and look at what can open it you may get a long list.
If you choose "other" from the get info "open with" menu and have acrobat reader installed in applications, it will show as an application you can choose.
That application, however, is not in the drop down list.
If you choose acrobat reader and apply it to the file type, it will show as the default.
If you then choose another application in the list and apply, Acrobat Reader disappears from the list.
The system only shows files in the list that advertise to the system that they can read the file type.
You have a system which is populating the list with legitimate programs that are compatible with the advertised file type.
It is reading that advertisement for the quicktime application somewhere.
The configuration is written to each file individually, you can choose to have a single file associated with a particular application or have it apply to all files of that type.
Check in Spotlight for a copy of the application in another location.

I have uploaded part of my form. When the user checks all of the boxes they want on their form and hit the submit button, the unchecked boxes disappear...which is what want.
What I cannot get the form to do is remove the remaining white space within that subform so the overall form shortens. I have had my head in this for a bit and a deadline is looming!

Help. Need to remove one of the listed QuickTimes from the "open with" menu

When I bring up the 'Open with' menu on an audio file I have QuickTime Player (7.3.1) and just below that I have QuickTime Player (7.2.1). I would like to remove the 7.2.1 listing from this menu. There is on one version on my computer (7.3.1). The last update must have placed the newer listing in this menu and left the older listing. Is there a way to remove the older listing from the open with menu?

Did you ever do an archival and install of your OS? If so, you have what is called previous system fold on your main hard drive. This is where you can find the player to the version. If not I guess what happen to you is strange...mmm... And I guess it could happen.

HT1338 Help with needing to be able to set up icloud and sync itunes with iphone 4s

Can and do I need to download OS X Mountain lion to support me to be able to use Icloud for my mac and iphone 4s and to sync other stuff up to it? I currently am running on a Mac OS X 10.6.7 wtih 4GB and it says I need 10.6.8 to to icloud and sync my itunes to my phone. What do you suggest? Is it possible to put OS X Mountain lion on my computer with its current state?

As your Mac should run Snow Leopard provided it has at least 1GB memory, that would be a good deal easier and very much cheaper than trying to find a 10.5 install disc.
Snow Leopard costs $30 approx from the online Apple store (£26 if you're in UK)
You'll need to update Tiger to 10.4.11 with the combo installer first (unless you're just erasing the disc and starting fresh) You can then update SL from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 with its combo installer.
For comparison, 10.5 Leopard is currently running about $130 from Apple (if still available) and more on Amazon etc.

InDesign crop marks HELP??

Hey guys!
So I'm designing a booklet and I need to put crop marks on it. The problem is, when I set the marks they appear not only at the right places but also BETWEEN the facing pages. How can I set them to appear only on the sides and not where the binding of the booklet would be later?

Are you making manual crop marks, or maybe using the crop marks script? If so, do you really need them to be manual? You can generate crop marks in the PDF export phase. That's how most people would do it.

Bleed / crop marks

hello,
i need to set crop marks for a business card. i thought this would be easy! but it isn't.
i created a 1/8th of a inch bleed area. i finally figured out where the Save as PDF bleed/crop mark setting is, but it is asking me how many Pts i'd like to set the bleed. what are points? what is a point? how does this imaginary point translate into real life? how many inches is that? what should i do because the only thing i can think of is screaming which probably won't help

I wonder if the dialog was asking you the trim mark setting? Because it is a stroke, it would be set in points. I usually set mine @ .5 pts. That's 1/2 of a point. But if it is referencing the bleed at 1/8 of an inch, then 72 pts per inch divided by 8 = 9 pts. I seldom see where bleed is indicated in points. What's more, I just set my own trim marks and bleed areas manually. I do this because I can set center marks, too. Far less of a hassle.

Crop Marks – is this how they work?

I haven't had to use crop marks before – my books have been printed on sheets the same size as the InDesign page. Now however, I am about to print a small book, 4-Up, on sheets larger than the page size, so I will need to add crop marks. I want to run my understanding of how to place crop marks on the page and how they will be used by the guillotine man, past some of the experts on this forum.
And before anyone says: "Crop marks are the printer's job. Just let him do it", or somesuch comment – in this case it's not the printer's job, it's mine. I've chosen to do everything: the writing, the layout, purchase of the paper (910 x 650 sheets), the cutting of the paper, the imposition, the printing, arranging the cutting of the sheets, and then the binding. So, I need to know about crop marks. This is what I have discovered, or guessed (please correct me if I'm wrong):
Assume a page size in InDesign of 100 x 200 mm. When you export to PDF and tick Crop Marks and set Offset to a certain dimension, two things happen:
The page size is increased to (100 + 2 (Offset + 5.3)) in width, and (200 + 2 (Offset + 5.3)) in height. In the case of an offset of 5 mm, the page dimensions of the PDF become 120.6 x 220.6 mm.
Crop marks of 5.3mm in length (5/12"), are placed at the four corners of the new page pointing inwards to the original page size. Thus, in this case, there is a gap of 5mm, the chosen offset, between the end of the crop marks and the original page. This offset allows for movement of the sheets during printing, so that when the crops are made the crop marks won't appear on any of the pages. i.e. the offset is greater than the expected sheet movement.
The guillotine man, when he comes to cut the sheets, lines up the narrow beam of light from the guillotine with one of the crop marks – and cuts that edge. Now there are only two crop marks left because two have been cut off in this first cut.
The guillotine man then rotates the sheets 90º and cuts again. Now there is only one crop mark left.
The sheets are again rotated, the beam of light lined up with the remaining crop mark, and the third cut is made. There are no more crop marks left.
For the final cut, the sheets are rotated 90º, but as there are no crop marks left, the appropriate dimension has to be entered into the guillotine (or marked out on the top sheet), and the cut is made.
I have yet to confirm with my guillotine man that steps 3-6 describe how he will do it. That's simply how I imagine it would happen. And in the case of 4-Up, a couple of extra cuts will be needed in the centre, depending on how the imposed pages are positioned.
Is the above an accurate description of how crop marks are inserted and how they are used?

Stix: Personally if adding Crop marks in InDesign (I prefer to use an imposition program) I like to make them even numbers, e.g. 3mm offset and 7mm long crop marks, whoch give a PDF size that is bigger by 10mm on each side.
Yes, it would make it easier if numbers were whole integers. But how do you tell InDesign to make a certain-length crop mark? I assumed it was fixed at 30 point (5/24" = 5.292 mm).

Or is the OP going to impose each sheet with 24 pages to view?… I am imposing using only InDesign using a method I developed. It's a very flexible method and works beautifully for 2-Up and 4-Up. Some of the imposition software I trialled several years ago was highly sus and not capable, for example, of generating variable-length signatures. I suppose the up-market programs would be okay, but I can't justify spending thousands on a program I might only use a few times.
Out of interest: can the software you suggested, Creo Preps, impose with these signature lengths: 6,6,4,4,4,8 (numbers of sheets per signature; total 128 pages)?
How many pages are in the book? How many copies of the book are required?… Size of Coracina is 148.5mm x 191 mm, 128 pages, 50 copies. The figures I gave for page size were examples only.
… and impose so that the pages get cut out as single pages and then hand-collated?… Printed sheets are 4-Up on SRA3. I chose SRA3 late in the piece when the printer told me that the click-charge was the same no matter what the paper size. Prior to that I was intending to print on A4. Printing costs are now halved.
Why is the OP handling this and not the printer?… I like a challenge, I like to be in control of the process, I like to learn, and I like to save money.

Tanksinker cost me about $10,000 all up, only half of which I got back in sales. It's a hobby. I don't expect or want to profit from it. To print 50 copies of Tanksinker commercially, judging by what a local offset printer told me, would have cost $50k-100k for the plates alone (2 proofs, 400x4 plates each proof, $20-30/plate).

I have been to see the guillotine man after reading all the posts above, and he confirmed that the crop marks I was using would be suitable (I just drew them on a piece of paper; I didn't show him the real thing). He did make a useful suggestion: he would trim the SRA3 sheet along the top and bottom of each book-spread (4 horizontal trims), but not trim to the left and right crop marks (vertical trims) because that would be done anyway when trimming the fore-edge after the book was sewn and glued.

Crop Marks not in correct place when Bleed applied - possible Bug/Error?

Apologies if anyone has posted this elsewhere - I checked the Help, FAQ, Forums and Googled it - but I really can't find a solution to this minor problem I'm having.
I have created a document that will be cut to 120mm x 120mm, I wanted to include a 10mm bleed around it so I made my Photoshop doc 140mm x 140mm.
When I go to the Print dialogue I have checked "Corner Crop Marks", set the bleed to 10mm and in the preview I can see that the crop marks are inside the image, marking out the correct 120x120 area. However, when I click Print the marks appear on the paper at the 140mm x 140mm area.
Has anyone else had this error, and even more importantly, has anyone found a solution?
I am using Photoshop CS3 (a site license of Web Premium), on a Mac G5 running Windows XP SP2. I have other machines & Photoshop versions available, I am going to test it on them to try and find out where the problem lies.
I am producing guides to using Photoshop at the moment and I don't want to include something that can't be done!

Wow... I'm using Photoshop CS5 for Windows and have just encountered this very same problem. The print preview shows the corner crop marks in the correct location as designated by the Bleed... setting (.1"); but when I print, the bleed setting gets ignored and the corner crop marks revert to the outer edges of the image.
This happens when I print to my Epson color laser or to my Brother b/w laser. It occurred to me to try one other test - and interestingly enough, when I printed to a PDF, the corner marks appeared correctly in the output!
So far, I haven't found any other information on this apparent bug besides this ancient thread.
Anyone willing to test this out and give their results? Thanks!
