Help! I screwed something up in my system
Here is how I caused the problem. I used a JavaScript to make a widget. Part of this called another file that put a black box around input items, and I was testing the widget. Well, now my entire system is doing this--putting a black box around everything (folders I select, system buttons, etc). I've trashed the widget completely, but the system is still doing it.
Anyone know how I can stop this? For good measure, it also duplicated the restart, shutdown, and log out commands in the Apple Menu. Not sure how that happened.
Any ideas?

1. As macjack notes, this sounds like VoiceOver has been enabled. One can also enabled/disable VoiceOver with Command-F5.
2. This is not a Launch Services problem. In fact, the instructions provided are incorrect and may undo more than is necessary, both on one's own account, and on other accounts on your Mac. The correct method for resetting launch services is discussed in my "Resetting Launch Services" FAQ.

Can you help me on something? I restored my iPod and everything I had was gone. (What I Wanted) But then when I looked at my Usage It said I only have 22.5 GB Available and I Used 6.0 But I didn't. I also looked at my Backup storage and it still had all of my backup from before I restored. I deleted all my backup because it said I used all of my Backup Available. - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod/iPhone/iPad on the iOS device in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected or cellular data is on and connected for, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. i have a problem with my Macbook Pro. When i tried to open it, something appeared : "enter your system lock PIN code to unlock this Mac". What should i do?
Question is did you lock your Mac from Find my iPhone using iCloud or is the Macbook really yours?
If you have in fact locked your Mac using Find my iPhone on iCloud then you will need to enter the PIN you have set when you locked the Mac.
*If you have not iniate the remote Lock then someone else has used your Apple ID and Password to lock your mac.

My elderly mother has EXTREMELY limited vision and is a technophobe. I am considering an iPhone with Siri. Can I turn off everything else so she can use only the phone app and voice dialing or Siri and not accidentally open any other app and screw something up.
I'm asking, in all seriousness, why do you think your mother needs an iPhone? Honestly, if your mother is, as you described her, a technophobe, I would recommend against getting an iPhone or any other smartphone. I've spent a fair bit of time teaching older folks to use smartphones. If they are interested in learning, it's fine. If they have the phone because their kids or grandkids thought it was a good idea but they are afraid of the phone or not interested in its features, it doesn't go well at all.
Many basic phones have voice dialing. Obviously, it doesn't do all the things Siri does but it may be much less intimidating for your mom. Also, basic phones have hardware keys. Even someone with limited vision can learn the keyboard on such a phone. From the sound of your first post, all she will be doing is making phone calls.

Hi, had the same problem with my ipad.
First of all I would suggest to close all apps which might be opened (maybe one is working without that you know).
To close the apps press twice in a row the home button and keep a finger on the first app which appesars on the lower band until the entire row starts moving. then press the red MINUS on all oyur apps in order to close them all.
Then switch on and off your phone and see whether the battery is still draining.
if this continues try to keep you phone on a flight modus to see if this is due to internet connection.
maybe you should review some of your settings, as notifications, bluetooth, push services etc. (see specific topics on how to save battery).
If you still have not solved your problem try to restart you phone as a new one (after that you can re-download all your apps). 8do this by using itunes)
remind to save your data (e.g. pictures) prior to this operation. -
Help! My cat screwed something up!
So my cat was looking very cute rolling around on my desk as I took pictures, but she rolled on top of my keyboard and I guess she hit a very strange key combination that has turned on the most annoying feature I have ever seen/heard. The computer will not speaking at me! Anything I click on becomes highlighted with a big black outline and a voice reads the title of the file, then continues to describe anything I am doing, like opening the trash, typing a website, opening itunes, even shutting my computer down.
Can someone please tell me how to remove this? It's driving me insane.

Try this.
Press the F5 key while holding down the command key.
On some keyboards (such as on a MacBook) you'll also need to press the fn key as well.

Merged clips - are they all bugs or is there something wrong with my system?
I have to use merged clips to sync video and audio because making every clip a sequence is too cumbersome and doesn't give me thumbnails to help choose my shots. Apparently, merged clips are very buggy. I can't use colored markers because they don't get saved on merged clips. I can't use match frame on merged clips because they don't find the correct frame. I can't set a poster frame on a merged clip except with the "in" marker. Are all those problems bugs, or is there something wrong with my specific system. I trashed preferences to fix another problem unrelated to merged clips, but that didn't solve any of the clip problems.
I don't believe there's anything wrong with your system.

Many Thanks in advance...I would use a search help exit. Nothing WDA specific here, as this has been possible long before WDA came around. With a search help exit you define the search help like normal, but instead of database table or view being the source of selection, you have a function module. Within the coding of this function module you can call an RFC to read data from another system or call a web service if you need to bridge over to something that isn't ABAP based.

Help!!! Ktorrent freezes my system...
Hi!
I have some problem with Ktorrent. Every time I want do download something the program starts to freeze within the first 3 minutes after I started it. Some seconds after that the whole system also freezes and I can only push the reset button. This problem exists since a couple of versions and I can't fix it. I also posted at the ktorrent forum, but nobody there knows what the problem might be. I also tried to debug the program, but using gdb didn't help me, because when it starts freezing there's no output from gdb and after some seconds the terminal freezes, too so I can't figure out what happens. Even pressing ctrl+c don't work because everything freezes within a blink of an eye...
Does anybody have similar problems or know how to find out what the problem might be? I don't know what else I could do....

I have this problem since the first time I used Ktorrent in Arch (which was at version 1.8 or 1.9 as far as I remember). I'm going to disable every plugin again except the ipfilter. I know I did this before with a previous version, but well, maybe I'm more lucky now. Since I'm not using a vfat partition I don't know what else it could be except one thing:
As I mentioned before, I can hear the harddisk making some clearly recognizable sound the moment everything starts crashing. After reading that vfat sometimes is responsible for freezing one thing came to my mind: Does anyone of you use ktorrent on a reiser4 partition. Because I'm doing this and maybe this causes the freezing.
Except this I really can't think of anything more that could cause this problem. I even removed the whole .kde folder to check it out, but the result was the same. Total freeze within some minutes of running and an immediate freeze when updating the ipfilter during running downloads....

I NEED HELP!! SOMETHING'S NOT WORKING!
When I go to a chatrooms or game sites that use java all I get is a box with something in the corner where it should be loading. My java is enabled already checked that out. What should I do?

The exact way in which you open your Java console depends on the browser and Java virtual machine you're using.
If you're using IE and the default (Microsoft) JVM, you'll need to go to Tools/Internet Options and click on the Advanced tab. There, you'll find a section titled "Microsoft VM". The first option should be "Java Console Enabled (requires restart)". Check that, close all browsers, and re-launch IE. You'll then be able to select "Java Console" from the "Views" menu from then on (NOTE: this menu option won't appear until you enable the console by performing the first step).
If you're using Netscape, you're running a Java plug-in. When the plug-in becomes active, the Java icon (the steaming coffee cup) will appear in your system tray (where your clock gets displayed on the task bar). You can just right click on that icon and select "show console". You can also launch the "Java plug-in" control panel (from the Start Menu/Control Panels menu) and click "show Java console").
Both of these methods assume you're using browser from within Windows. If you're using *nix, you'll probably have to do something closer to the "Netscape" technique, but I can't provide explicit instructions.

Need help Bios screwed!! K8T Neo.
I was trying to fix a problem with my notebook its screwed and I created a CD that self boots and flashes the bios.
Anyway the to cut a long sory short my bios was accidentlally flashed on my K8T NEO FIS2R. and now it wont boot or nothing.
I did have a bios recovery floppy disk ctrl+home but it doesnt work.
Now when I turn on it just reads from the CD drive and hard disk but not the floppy, is it possible to create a CD that will boot and repair the bios??
Please help if you can.Well I will pipe in with some things here. You want to flash from a RAMDisk setup if at all possible. Windows flashing can be a very large risk if you are not sure everything is shut down. Even recieving a mail or having an autoupdate start while you are flashing can ruin your board and your day. Always shut done boot block protection ahead of time. Set Bios to defaults as this will also keep you out of trouble.
Always, always, always be sure you are using the correct file for your board.
It only takes a second to do something wrong, it may takle a little longer to be sure you are right. Do it wrong and it is RMA time and all the time saved hurrying it along is certainly lost. -

How to save the inventory report
To force the ConfigMgr client to save off a copy of the report that it sends to the Management Point, you can create an empty folder/directory under the inventory temp directory
called archive_reports.sms.
Then edit the following registry value to point to the inventory temp directory:

I have troubleshooted this error message several times and can say that this is a generic error message. The reason can be different in your Case. As suggested in the error message you should first check all the steps in the following kb article.

In most of my cases the performance counter corruption was the reason of this error message there fore I would suggest you to first check the System and application event logs for performance counter corruption. Right click on the System event > Find
and search for corrupt.
Additionally it is also mentioned in one of the MS kb articles that deploying winrm policies on Hyper-V Host is forbidden in a SCVMM environment.
If this is the reason in your Case you should disable it. No other chance.
