Help! Keep getting "back up disk not availabel"
New TC but intermittently, the back ups were delayed and reason: back up disk not available. When I click on Airport utility, it can not find the disk. First, I can unplug Time Capsule which will fix problem temporarily. I called tech support and we reset the time capsule but it still happened after. Rebooting and restarting my computer would fix the problem but I do not want to do this all the time.
Should I just return this expensive wireless router then or is there a fix. pls help.

Does this happen only when you're using WIFI, or also when connected via Ethernet?
If it's only on WIFI, you probably have either a bad wireless connection, or are getting intermittent interference.

That's true, but a bit misleading. "Time Capsule includes . . ." would be more clear.
When I try to do a back up using the time capsule, I have been getting a message that "Back up disk is not available"
First, just re-select the TC's internal HD drive in Time Machine Preferences.
If that doesn't help, try a "full reset" per #A4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If still no help, try repairing the backups, per #A5 in the same article.
Oh, and you might want to change your profile from Airport Extreme to Time Capsule.

Keep getting a "the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" when I insert my printer cord into either USB port. Recently installed a portable hard drive for back up purposes. Related?
Does your printer have a slot for an SD card? Is there are card in the slot? If so, the computer is trying to mount that card as an external device. It might be corrupted so that it can't be read.

I think as drive capacities increase, the old 10-15% becomes less accurate. The amount of free space you need doesn't really have anything to do with the drive size. So, increasing your drive size shouldn't mean that you need to have more free GB (which using a % of drive space would mean). You need free space to accommodate page outs (the amount of which would depend on how much RAM you have installed and how memory intensive the applications are), sleep images (again, this would max out at your total amount of RAM), and a bit to minimize fragmentation.
With desktop drives commonly in the 2TB range today, it is certainly not necessary to have 200GB+ free in order to maintain proper operation. I generally find about 30GB to be the minimum I'm comfortable with. Mind you, I pretty much always have way more than that available. But, if I'm working on a system and the amount of free space is at least 30GB, I would generally not site drive space as the cause of any performance issues. I'd say that 30GB is a minimum for a stable system (with 8GB or RAM installed). Of course at that amount, you would still need to free up space if you were to want to install or download any significant amount of data.
With servers being more likely to run into the 16GB of RAM range, more storage would be necessary. Most servers should be well stocked with storage, but the actual needs would vary greatly depending on what's being "served".
The 10-15% thing came about when we used to talk about drive capacities in hundreds of MBs and RAM in terms of KB (not MB and certainly not GB). More drive space is always a good thing, but as drive capacities continue to sky rocket, we don't need to dedicate larger amounts of storage on systems with the same specifications. A set amount of space is required for proper operation regardless of the capacity of the drive installed. -

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

I'm using CS6 Extended. My OS is "Windows 7 home premium.
Can no longer load video files into CS6 for edited I keep getting error message:

I have just inherited my husbands ipad, all transferred well except my hotmail account will not set up, I have read all forums but none have helped, keep getting "can not verify" when I try set it up. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Hi, I quitted Safari and press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons silmutaneously unti the Ipad turn off and on with the logo Apple appears but it has hanged on and fixed to the point. I do it again hold the Home and Sleep buttons silmutaneously and the Ipad turn off and on again with the Apple logo but it still is hanged on the same point. I think my Ipad is fault now. I guess I must connect it to the computer with itune, or something. Ok, I'll try not to get my problem too confusing or complicated. Had a virus and had pc repair store wipe and reload my operating system. They backed everything up and put it in a folder on my desktop. I reinstalled i-tunes. Opened i-tunes. checked my library. Everything is there but duplicated. I manually dumped all duplicates.(That was fun!) I try to play songs. I keep getting " The song** could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
I locate my i-tunes files in C drive, docs/settings, my docs, i-Tunes, i-Tunes music. I see an icon showing MPEG4 with a musical note and little "lock" symbol in the corner. I double click that icon and i-Tunes opens up and the songs starts playing. If I shut my pc down and restart it, go to i-tunes find that song and click it it always plays now. Okay that's one song fixed. Also if I find the icon in C drive again the little lock symbol is gone. Now down to the meat of my question; am I going to have to do this individually with all 2700 songs? Please tell me a faster way.

*If prompted to move to recycle bin, choose Keep File
Then click File > Add Folder to Library and navigate to the folder on your hard drive that has your music in it. You can choose your iTunes Music folder, for example, and this will incorporate any subfolders you have stored in there.
The lock icon suggests that the file is "protected," so most likely purchased from the iTunes store.
