Help!!!! key nt wrking

Help! My iBk G4 is wrking perfectly, except the " " key is nt wrking. I've lked at a previus thread [http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=4263850
with a similar issue, and tried ut the suggestins:
1. Created a new user didn't wrk and nw I've dne smething which has turned ff ther keys as well!!!!!! Help! I am nt able t type the crrespnding parenthesis bracket) fr ")"
2. Used the keybard viewer which cnfused me
3. Checked the Text t Speech preference pane, and n key is assigned t it.
4. I physically remved the key frm the keybard and cleaned it
What else can I d? Please excuse the atrcius spelling and help me?

Thank yu! I suppse that is what I have t d nw, as I've been using the Keybard viewer and fund that when I hit the key fr the missing letter and the key fr nine, they d nt flash n the nscreen keybard. Des that indicate that the keys are defunct?

Hi,
This kind of problem is known when webgui is being started from an IAC, e.g. HRWPC_FC_EXEC
You have to set parameter ~webgui_popups 1 in the service file of this IAC.

Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
Repair permissions and see if that does it.

Flat keyboard - no help key - eclipse

Hi all,
on eclipse, context-sensitive help is called by "help"-button. And it works fine with a standard mac-keyboard.
But there's no help-button on the new flat keyboards or macbooks.
Using AppleShift? doesn't work, creating a new shortcut in eclipse-preferences doesn't work too.
It seems it has to be the original "help"-button, who's not there.
The problem is discussed on fdt-board and eclipse-newsgroups, but without a solution.
Does anyone know how to invoke context sensitive help with a macbook or a flat keyboard on eclipse?
Or how to "bypass" the help-key to the f1-button in the system?

I see that you are having some problems accessing your BIOS. F10 doesn't work with Windows 8. If you scroll down in your own link it mentions that to access the BIOS you need to go to your Advanced Options and then select Troubleshooting and then the UEFI Firmware Settings. That will bring you to the BIOS. This is all under Accessing UEFI BIOS section of your link. There you can Disable the Function Keys.

Where is HELP key on new Aluminum Keyboard?

Instructions for Boot Camp tells me to use the HELP key for the INSERT command in Windows. The aluminum keyboard has no HELP key. Where is the HELP key the aluminum keyboard??

I am having the same issue but only when I run windows XP - I really would like to know how to avoid this. it seems that after about 5 mins. of using the bluetooth keyboard in XP a key just randomly starts repeating until i turn off the computer - I was not able to get it to stop any other way. (it has nothing to do with range as I am 6" from the MBP at all times)

HELP! Where is the Help key!

I am running an old Powerbook G4 1GHz, and a program I am using has Cmd-Help as a key combo.
I notice that there is no Help key on the Powerbook, indeed there is no help key on the new Aluminum keyboards either.
Any suggestions as to where it has gone..... actually, is there a key combo that replaced the help key itself?

F1 Help Key

Both the F1 and Help key in dtterm call up a help window. I want to run an application in dtterm that uses the function keys. Is there a way to unbind the F1 key from the Help window without changing the escape code that the F1 key generates?

I tried it again, same result.
When I click on the problem URL pasted from my post:

I still get the same incorrect response (both Firefox and IE). However, if I put my cursor in the address window and delete the search.html?AH_ION=true
portion of the URL then I am indeed directed correctly to the right page.
I thought maybe there was some place in PSE7 where you could specify the URL for the help page, but I can't find it. It's not in the registry either. Thanks.

Help keying jagged edges

Hello,
I'm keying some footage shot on a 5D. Everything seems to be going ok despite the footage not being shot and lit perfectly (time, budget, the usual).
I'm having a bit of a problem with near-horizonal straight edges, I think this may be due to the quality of the footage and the fact it was shot on a dslr with its slightly flawed rolling shutter/horizontal subsampling etc.
I've included a still for reference.
Can anyone suggest a quickish solution to straightening this out? Or will I need to keyframe extra masks for these edges? Also, can anyone confirm this problem is partly to do with the camera and not just my photography skills?

I can confirm that the camera and your lighting skills both contributed to your dilemma.
Because you didn't take the time to set up the shot properly when you got it, you now pay for it in post.
Because a Canon 5D Mk II records H.264 files, you have lousy color sampling (aka color resolution); I believe it's 4-2-0, which is every bit as bad as the 4-1-1 color sampling of NTSC DV.
Getting a good chroma key is all about the edges of the subject. But bad color sampling scrimps on the color information available at the edges.
And what do you need for a good COLOR key? Accurate color, perhaps?
To see what I mean, take 15 minutes out of your day. Watch the following video:

Bear in mind that your camera's color sampling is the same as the example you'll see for DV near the end of the podcast.
A DSLR might make nice pictures, but it isn't cut out for effects work. If that camera has a full-time HDMI or HDSDI out on it -- that is, the resolution doesn't change when you hit the record button -- you can drop $5,000 to get a box that will let you capture video with 4-4-4 color sampling.
Your best bet: rotoscoping the offending parts. That's how you're going to pay for your shooting haste in post.

Key help trigger not displaying help file

We're using designer 2.0.24.2.0 with headstart 5.0.2, I've created a number of help files for different modules, when you run one of the forms and press the help key, the help file is displayed. If you do it a second time, the help file is not displayed, if you use the ? off the toolbar the help file is displayed.
I've had a quick look at the core library and there is a package body QMS$HELP which was modified on, with the comments :-

Added boolean to keep track of context help invocation. This to prevent, online
help is invoked three times in a row: by item-level, block-level and form-level
trigger (trigger execution style is BEFORE!!).
I've checked the key-help triggers at Item, Block and Form level, they are all set execution style before and these triggers are firing each time the help key is pressed.
Is this a known bug which has been fixed in a later release? Or does anyone know of a quick fix?

This was identified as bug #850317 and was resolved in Headstart 5.0.3.2.

Mapping the "fn" key to a key on an external extended keyboard

Is it possible to map the "fn" key found on Macbooks to a key (such as the RH Control Key) on the current Apple extended keyboard?
I use an extended keyboard with my Macbook Pro and wish to have access to the fn functions like I do on the Macbook's keyboard.

I have had so many years of that being the "help" key that I didn't notice it had changed on the new aluminium keyboards.

Field values are repeating for search help.

Hello Friends.
I have a problem. When I create a search help for a field the identical field values are repeating. What should I do to trigger only the first time.
for example:

So when I create the search help for commodity it is showing 'casting' 3 times in a pop-up window. It should not repeat. Can you please give me the solution what should I do?

The input help (F4 help) is a standard function of the R/3 System. It permits the user to display a list of possible values for a screen field. A value can be directly copied to an input field by list selection.
The fields having an input help are shown in the R/3 System by the input help key to the right of the field. This key appears as soon as the cursor is positioned on the corresponding screen field. The help can be started either by clicking on this screen element or with function key F4.
If the number of possible entries for a field is very large, you can limit the set of displayed values by entering further restrictions.
Further meaningful information about the displayed values is included in the display of possible entries, especially if the field requires that a formal key be entered.
TYPES OF SEARCH HELPS
Elementary search helps
Describe a search path. The elementary search help must define where the data of the hit list should be read from (selection method), how the exchange of values between the screen template and selection method is implemented (interface of the search help) and how the online input help should be defined (online behavior of the search help).
Collective search help
Combine several elementary search helps. A collective search help thus can offer several alternative search paths.
Search Help Interface
Search help interface determines how the exchange of values between the screen template and the selection method is implemented.
The search help interface defines the context data that can be used in the input help and the data that can be returned to the input mask. Analogously to the interface of a function module, the search help interface comprises interface parameters.
When you define an interface parameter of a search help, you must also define whether it should be used to copy data to the input help (IMPORT parameter) or whether it should be used to return data from the input help (EXPORT parameter). A parameter of a search help can also have both attributes at the same time.
The location from which the IMPORT parameters of a search help get their values and the screen fields in which the contents of the EXPORT parameters of the search help are returned are defined in the search help attachment. The search help itself should always be attached to an EXPORT parameter of the search help. If this parameter is also the IMPORT parameter, its contents are only used in the input help if it is a search string (that is, if it contains a ´*´ or a ´+´).
You must define the parameter types of a search help. You can do this by assigning them data elements.
Value Transport for Input Helps
NOTE:In the above example, screen fields A, B and C are linked with parameters of the search help. As a result, values can only be transported between the screen and the search help for these three fields. Existing contents of screen fields A and B can be used for selecting the hit list since they are linked with an import parameter of the search help. The values of parameters A and C can be returned to the screen from the hit list since these parameters are declared as export parameters of the search help.
Description of dialog behavior
A hit list might contain plentiful number of entries. A
dialog provides the user with an option to restrict the
entries displayed on the hit list.
In an input help process, the set of possible entries is presented in the dialog box as a list for displaying the hit list. The user selects the required value from this list by double clicking. Since the possible entries are often formal keys, you must be able to display further explanatory information about the possible entries in the list.
If the set of possible entries is very large, the user should be able to define additional conditions for the attributes of the selected entry. Restricting the set of data in this way both increases the clarity of the list and reduces the system load. Additional conditions can be entered in a further dialog window, the dialog box for restricting values.
Specifying the dialog type of a search help defines whether the dialog box for restricting values should be offered and if so under what conditions.
The attributes in the dialog box for displaying the hit list or in the dialog box for restricting values must be defined as internal parameters of the search help. An internal parameter can also be used in only one of the two dialog boxes. It can also belong to the search help interface.
The internal parameter types are also defined with data elements. These data elements define how the parameters are displayed in the two dialog boxes.

How do I get the fn key on the aluminum keyboard to work like Insert under Windows without having to press fn + Enter?

I'm not sure if you even read the first couple of posts at all. On the old Apple Pro Keyboard (white keys and translucent body), pressing the Help key resulted in exactly the same key code as the Insert key on any standard (IBM) PC keyboard. This meant that regarding this key, that Mac keyboard will work just like a PC keyboard. (I don't care much about the other keys.)
The problem is that on the current Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (white low-profile chicklet keys, ultra-slim aluminum body), the Help key is now called fn and produces a different key code than the old Help key, so that you have to press fn + Enter (on the numerical keypad) to get Insert.

Do you understand what I mean? It's not a software thing, it's a hardware issue in the Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, because fn is a hard-coded, not software-controlled modifier key. I have no idea if there is even a way to get around that, and that is what I am trying to find out.

Delete Key in Form

My users, who are mostly clerical staff want to do everything in a form via the keyboard without using the mouse.
We are on 10gAS(9.0.4) forms on windows 2003 server.
I have found that Ctrl+S will save a record.
What is the key combination for deleting/removing a record. I have not been able to find it via context sensitive Help|Keys or Ctrl+K.

The resource file is usually fmrweb.res. And in web forms, it SHOULD be editable. The Forms 6 version was not -- you had to use Oracle Terminal, oraterm.exe, and using it is a pain.
Looking at my Forms 10g fmrweb.res file as released from Oracle, the delete record key is Ctrl-Up, and Ctrl-S is the commit key.
But we have changed ours to work like the original client/server version, and delete record is shift-F6.

Accelerator keys in MAC !!!!

I've set accelerator keys for Refresh Action(F5) using..............

I'm sorry for editing so late...............
The problem that accelerators not showing on the menu item is on MAC.
THe problem is only when there;s not modifier like a Comm or Ctrl ....and the accelerator is just say F6......
In that case the accelerator F6 is not displayed in the menuitem as it does with modifiers...and evn on Win.
