This has nothing to do with hardware questions and please refrain from double posting.

  • Reinstalled Premiere Pro CS4 in windows 64 bit Vista and it worked, then today I am receiving error message 1

and it will not start.  Before the reinstallation I was having problems with my computer entering the power save mode.  I have reset the mode to high performance.  I was unable suddenly to view video on source or preview monitor.  Every move I made on Premiere Pro left me with a spinning circle and no choice but to shut down.  Now it will not start.

  • My newly reinstalled Premiere Pro CS4 is unable to support .mov files. Is there anything I can do?

The files were supported when I created the project on a college computer in a previous version of Premiere in 2009. I have tried downloading quicktime and restarting so far.

Installing Quicktime, usually but not always the latest version, is supposed to permit editing MOV files
But, exactly what is inside the MOV file, and what camera did you use?

  • I Reinstalled Premiere Pro CS3, loaded a project I edited using CS3, and NOW I get jagged edges!

Hey everyone. I was using Premiere Pro CS3 to edit some footage I shot with my HPX170 in 1080i 24p Advanced. The P2 footage looked great in Premiere CS3. I upgraded to Premiere CS5, imported the same exact project into CS5 using the same 1080i 24p Advanced setting, and I got jagged stair stepping edges on the objects that were in sharp focus in my footage. Okay, I thought, I'll just reinstall Premiere Pro CS3 and continue editing the footage in CS3 since it looked normal in CS3 with no jagged edges. But, to my surprise, I'M GETTING THE SAME EXACT THING NOW IN PREMIERE PRO CS3!!!! What in the heck is up with that? How can the footage look normal when I imported and editied it before in CS3 and NOW I get jagged stair stepping edges?!!!! I even tried importing a fresh clip from the footage and that clip still has the jagged stair stepping edges. This makes no sense whatsoever! Does anyone know what's going on with this? It seems like an interlace artifact problem BUT, if that's the case, why didn't it do this the first time in Premiere Pro CS3? And trust me, I would have noticed right away if it did!

Hey Shooternz. Which exact playback settings are you asking about? I set the one of the playback settings to "Highest Quality" instead of "Automatic" and nothing changed. I unchecked 24p Pulldown in the "Interpret Footage" section and nothing changed (I don't even remember "24p Pulldown" being in the Interpret Footage section the first time I installed CS3, which is strange. Was that added in an update?). I tried different sizes like HD 1.5, HD 16:9, etc. in the Interpret Footage section and the jaggies are still there. Nothing seems to work. ??? This is weird because they weren't there the first time I edited the footage in CS3 when I installed CS3 the first time. One thing I noticed is, when I installed CS3 the second time and loaded the project, as the project was loading, I got a message that said something like "These project settings cannot be loaded. We will now switch to Desktop Mode." Would that have something to do with it you think?

  • I cannot find any link to reinstall Premiere Pro CS6

I had to replace my crashed drive requiring me to reinstall Premiere Pro CS6.  All I get is the run around,   So is there a  link that I can simply download the full version in English, not patches and updates or the new CC subscription version?  When I purchased CS6 over 2 years ago,
I was assured by Adobe that I would always be able to download it rather than need a set of disk.

  • Need help with 24fps in Premiere Pro CS4

I am having issues  working with 24fps imported video. My computer hardware is an AMD dual core processor running at 2.6GHz. It has 2GB of Kingston Hyper-X memory, 2x 300GB hard drives (not RAID), and an Nvidia 7900GS video card with 256MB video ram. My operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1. I am running Premiere Pro CS4 with all the current updates.
So here is the issue I am having. I captured video on a Canon XL2 in 24fps, 16:9 widescreen, and 2:3:3:2 pulldown. My CS4 project settings were set up as DV-24P Widescreen 48KHz. I did not try changing other settings on the other tabs. I captured the video directly from the XL2 with no dropped frames. The resulting AVI plays back in Windows Media Player 11 correctly. What I mean by that is the is no jerky video, I get no raster lines, and the video quality is very clear. When I load the video into the time line and play it back in the program monitor the video jerks like it is dropping frames, I get raster lines and it looks like video clarity fades in and out.
At first I thought nothing about it. I used Adobe Media Encoder, and burned a DVD. Playback on my widescreen TV looked jerky, rastered, and the video was only clear in static scenes. So I made some test projects with different settings. Still had no success. The original capture looks good, but whatever I do in Premiere the video jerks and looks like old VHS video.
I did another test. I set the XL2 to 30P and 4:3, and captured the video. Again the captured AVI looks good. Put it on the Premiere timeline and played it in the program monitor. It plays fine - good video quality, no rastering, and no jerking. Made a DVD with no problems in the video. So my question is what setting in Premiere do I need to capture, edit, and export 24fps 16:9 widescreen video so that it plays back with with the same video quality as it was captured? Do you think it is an encoder problem? The captured AVI is what ever encoder came with Windows/Premiere as I have not added any other encoders.
Any help would be apperciated. If I have not supplied enough information, please just ask.

If the video is playing back badly in Premiere Pro from the timeline, then the things I would check would be the program monitor quality - is it set to highest...if you don't know where that it is, click on the 4 horizontal lines in the top corner of the program monitor - make sure highest quality is selected. It also may be a video card issue - are your drivers up to date? If the clips are only playing back badly on the PPro timeline (and anything exported from it), but fine in Windows Media Player - something is up.
As for the frame rate - no, you don't have to work at 24P...as mentioned before, the camera actually records at 29.97 fps, but is able to be played back and edited at 23.976 fps (or 24P)...it's a complicated explanation on how it all works...
If you're going to finish to a regular DVD, then working at 29.97 is the way to go. As for the interpret footage command, highlight the clips in your bin, then right click on them - in the menu, you'll see interpret footage - click on that and a new window should open...you should see a box with a check next to it that says remove 24P pulldown - click it (removing the check) and the footage frame rate should change to 29.97 - then click OK...create a 29.97 sequence (DV NTSC Widescreen 48Khz), and edit away.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 Help Is Public

You've heard the Adobe CS4 product announcements. Care to take a closer look at the new features in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4? Adobe has posted the Help contents on the web where you can search it and write comments on it.
See Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 Help here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/
Or, go straight to the list of new features, here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/WS0DB30036-D26C-4c21-A01B-6207B21C3A2Ba.html
    Stephen Muratore
    Adobe Systems

This is all kind of like sneaking into Santa's bag to see if the new toys he's gonna bring us are durable enough to play with until NEXT Christmas, when it's only a couple of weeks away from THIS Christmas.
(By the way, if you don't celebrate Christmas, you're really missing out...not just on the holiday itself, but you're also missing out on my metaphor).
I'm just about positive that everything's not going to work as well as we want, that it's not going to do quite enough of the stuff we need it to do, and that there will be bugs. The people who scream the loudest about current missing features or feature requests will probably be continuing the trend in the near future. Adobe reps will be very interactive on the forums for a few weeks or months while we all troubleshoot in our working environments and then they will disappear until it gets close to the next release.
BONUS ROUND - Mobutu (or jujufactory...right?) will still not upgrade, and will still demand support in a software he doesn't use for hardware that he doesn't use while likewise judging everything invented prior to the last 5 weeks to be "OBSOLETE!!"
Have I pretty much summed it all up?
At any rate, I would expect Dynamic Link in Encore to work the same way as Dynamic Link in PPro. In PPro, you can import multiple AE compositions through Dynamic Link. In Encore, you can import multiple AE comps as well. So...pretty likely that Encore will handle PPro sequences likewise. AE comps currently work fine with the Automatic transcode settings, so I'm guessing that carries over to PPro.
One of the After Effects documentation guys just provided a summary (per forum user request) of EVERYTHING that was modified/added/removed in CS4, in spite of the various ways of gleaning the information from the online docs. So...maybe if we keep hollering, we'll get the same thing here....?
C'mon Adobe...it's not like you're busy working on CS4 anymore. After all, the release of CS5 is only ONE YEAR AWAY!!! GO GO GO!!!
Final thoughts...I like how the press releases always refer to each release now as the "biggest product launch in Adobe's history." Isn't that to be expected? Shouldn't we expect each version to be "bigger" than the last? I mean, what else are they gonna say? "Well, you know...CS4, it's pretty good, VERY good actually. But the last version was a lot more meaningful. A lot more exciting. That last one was AWESOME. Well...we'll still try to make something out of this."

  • Premiere Pro CS4 won't let me dump/Record to tape, HELP!

Hello, I just got a hold of Premiere Pro CS4 and I think its great. BUT when I try to dump/record my project to tape onto my SONY CamCorder DV all I get is a blue screen. The camcorder is controlled by Premiere and says it is going there but as I watch it being put to tape... all I see in the viewfinder is blue with a record red dot. And when I actually play back what I supposedly recorded all i see is blue. Can you help please. My SONY Camcorder is a DSR-trv 27E. Thanx

That "E" in the model number may indicate that your camera can play video out via firewire, but not record video in.
Many EU camera models have this restriction built-in so that the camera can't be used as a VCR. I think it's a tax issue, but since I live in the USA, I'm not qualified to say for sure.

  • How to get premiere pro CS4 trial

few days back i downloaded premiere pro CS5 trial but due to low specifications it didnot work on my computer. so i need to get premiere pro CS4 trial but it is not available anywhere. how can i get it?
    please help me.

    Welcome to the forum.
As CS4 is no longer current, I kind of doubt that you will find the trial. You might try a site like ProDesign Tools, but most of their links are directly to Adobe's download site, so may not be of use.
I have not heard of any facility that maintains older trial downloads, but there are a few people here, who always surprise me with their "finds."
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - if you buy one of the CS5 suites, you will get PrPro CS4 on the discs. You will be able to try that out for 30-days, and if you do not like it, Adobe will refund the purchase price. Remember, within 30 days.

  • How do you get Premiere Pro CS4 frames into Photoshop

Hi I am trying to modify a series of Premiere Pro Frames by coloring a small section of them in Photoshop 7. How do I pull those frames out of my timeline, get them into Photoshop, and then back into my timeline? I remember doing it with Premiere 6.5, but I can't figure out how to do it with CS4.

Thanks guys, I'll take it from there.

Yes, PS-Extended will make things a bit easier. While not perfect, it simplifies rotoscoping quite a bit.

  • Exporting from Premiere Pro CS4 using Media Encoder gets stop error

I am trying to export my timeline from Premiere Pro CS4, using the Adobe Media Encoder CS4 to export my timeline as an MPEG2 HDTV 1080 24, and it goes for about fifteen minutes then I get the blue screen and my computer restarts, telling me the program had a stop error.  Is there a way to go around this step?  Another method to get the mpeg2 without losing quality?  Anything I can do?
Please offer any knowledge you have before I scream at my computer again.
    Thank you

as I know Adobe products are buggy no matter what hardware you have.
I am sorry, but my experience has been the absolute opposite of what you have heard, or experienced. I have used many, many Adobe programs for almost 2 decades (maybe even more than 2 decades?), and have never observed such. I do have to admit that over those many years, I have always had a "state of the art" computer, but have made plenty of $ using Adobe software. Even with my now aging workstation, things work great. Time to upgrade though.
When troubleshooting issues, they shake out like this:
    1.) system
    2.) Assets
    3.) Project
    4.) OE
    5.) Bugs
This is after troubleshooting Adobe issues from almost the time that PS hit the PC, when they were only NNTP, in what, 1985?
Now, I am not saying that your issue IS hardware, but only that that is the most likely issue, given a BSOD. Also, system is the #1 cause of issues, so that is where I start.
    Good luck,

  • Need to reinstall Premiere Pro CC but Creative Cloud says it's Up to Date

I downloaded Premiere Pro CC for a trial.  I uninstalled it thinking CS6 would work better, but then discovered CC is better for the files I'm using.  I want to reinstall, but my Creative Cloud menu said Premiere Pro CC is Up to Date, so it won't let me.  Another forum said to Uninstall, but I've already done that (cannot find a Premiere Pro CC folder or Uninstall file.)  Please advise!  Thank you!

Brooklynharvest please see CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html for information on how to reinstall Premiere Pro.
