Help me im stupid

i've posted this in a few forums, so im sorry if you've already read this.
i have windows xp and the version of internet explorer that comes with it, and one day, everything java just stopped working, e.g. rollover buttons on websites, and functions like popup windows(this is a problem as i have a popup kind of thing on my website where the enter screen triggers a smaller window to open with my website (http://twcvideos.tk))
i havent had a look to see if java applets work yet. is there something i might have done like disabled java or uninstalled it?
p.s. i downloaded the java runtime environment incase that was something to do with it (please excuse my newbieness if this has no difference)

I'm a bit of a greenhorn with this Java stuff, too, so forgive me if this answer isn't perfect.
First, did the problems happen after upgrading to Windows XP? Or was it just one of those magical things that happened out of nowhere?
One thing I noticed after upgrading to XP was that there is no longer a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) installed by default. So, there were a few instances where I ran into Java applets not working, and such.
One thing to check in Explorer is under Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab. Check the Microsoft VM to see if the Java options are enabled.

Your problem is this..your installation is having problems.
Here is how to fix..
First:
download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:

download and save (don't install them yet) copies of the QuickTime standalone installer and the iTunes installer to your hard drive:
Quicktime 7.1.5 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes ..here is url :

uninstall phase
use Windows CleanUp to clear the installation configuration information for both your existing iTunes and QuickTime.

reboot the PC
reinstall phase
make sure any antivirus and antispyware applications are switched off prior to the reinstalls.
reinstall the QT 7.1.5 standalone. reboot the PC
reinstall iTunes. reboot the PC.
if the installs went through okay, try opening itunes again. does it launch this time?

You got it almost correct but left out a couple steps.
1) I would suggest cleaning out your temp folder. Its possible that the installer you launched is picking up temp files from the bad installation.
2) Run a registry cleaner.
So before your reinstall phase I'd append...
4. Go to C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations. You should see folders like {06EB3288-C5F4-4C73-8EEE-AC798668FF66}
5. Look in each of these folders for itunes.msi and delete the folder. Be careful to only delete the folders containing itunes,msi
6. Clean out your temp folders, Delete as much as you can in these folders except for the folders Cookies, History, Temporary Internet Files.
a. C:\windows\temp (if one exists)
b. C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp
Sometimes installers will pick up old files or won’t delete their temporary files.
7. Go to http://www.download.com/3000-2094-881470.html and download the regcleaner. Unpack it and run it. This is a nice utility that will delete broken registry entries and create a file with them. This way if it deletes anything needed you can add it back. Note I never had to do this with using it for many years. Also it doesn't list XP but you'll be fine. I run XP on both.
8. Reboot your PC.

I Need help deciphering crash reports on my iMacG5, after someone was using it , I am trying to figure out if he was doing something wrong that led to a huge crash of all my programs and a terrifying ten minutes with my desk top nowhere to be found , The computer-was not on line, and he was using a storage device and a DJ mixing program that he had inside the portable drive , after the crash , every thing from the device was in the trash here are some of the references from the console logs that I need help with crash reports were files for mackicker, mass storage device , Finder ,stuffit, aol, archive search, mirror agent, iMovie , window server , cups access and error,System

Help...Stupid Selection Tool Question

I'm not seeing the dots when using the selection tool and am unable to select sections of objects. I don't know what to do.

I figured it out myself. I was in "Object Drawing Mode" rather than "Merge Drawing Mode". A simple CTRL + B solved my issue.

Old games on new Computer..........Help! IM Stupid!!!

I recently purchased a G5 imac. I cant play my old games (Diablo 2, Heroes, Age of Empires) on Mac os X because it says it cant find Mac OS 9.1. I dont think I should have to buy the old software and I dont know what to do. It doesnt make sense that the developers didn't account for this. Please give me help, Thanx!

Steffan, the DVD's or CD's that come with your computer should be treated like gold. There are many, many good reasons for ALWAYS keeping them in a safe place. Chances are you will need them for troubleshooting purposes one day. They will even increase the resale value of your Mac if should ever want to sell it (just ask any regular in the iMac G3 forum what they think about people buying older imacs that DON'T come with these disks.)
If you really have lost them then you should be able to get a replacement set from Apple, by quoting your model and serial number , etc. You will have to pay a fee for them, but it is well worth doing.

Please help with a stupid question on networing 2 macs

I have a MacPro and a MAC book pro with and airport n base station. In the past, the books for my G4 and G5 told me how to network the macs with peer to peer so I can access any drive of one machine from the other.
I can't find out how to do that. Can you send me to a white paper. I don't have the G4 and G5 anymore, and can see the drop boxes on both new macs but I can't access them. I don't have permission. Have the setup procedures changed?
I also want to be able to connect my same MPB to a Power Mac at work.
I know this is rudimentary, but in Snow Leopard I am having trouble finding how to do it. I didn't spend a lot of time on leopard, but spent three years on tiger.

Hi all,
just new to imovie, can someone explain how to do wha i want to do please in simple to follow instructions .
i am converting old vhs tape to dvd.
i use the apple convertor to convert tape to macbook , thats fine and easy.
i am converting 3 hr video tape , so they are to big for dl dvd 's , so i need to "Cut the file in 1/2 , or 3rds to fit a normal 4.7 gb dvd ,
Can someone explain how to do this in simple terms , i have looked at online videos and forums , but still struggle to understand what to do and when
i have :split the file , but am unable to just burn each half to dvd , this is where it just all goes wrong for me ,
using imovie 11, new i7 macbook pro ,
i have been told its simple , but i must be evan simpler , lol

Procedure in iM usually is:
• import video
• select portion of import
• add to Project
• burn Project
• add another selection to another Project ... repeat
Plan B)
• import video to iMovie
• drag ALL to a Project
• erase unwanted part
• burn
• 'undo' in Project (=erased conetnt back again)
• erase another part, burn again… repeat
... so, I'm not sure, what you mean by 'better way' …

Help, did a STUPID thing

So, I plugged in my old US G3 in Italy without sliding the voltage switch. Result: popping sound and nasty burning smell.
Is it totally fried or just a fuse to replace?

It may just be a fuse, but the burning smell does not bode well. The smell may be the enamelled wire on a transformer. To get to the fuses, the power supply must be removed from the Mac and dis-assembled. Once a few minutes have gone by, there should be no hazardous voltages inside, as long as you do not plug it in.
Used power supplies for the desktop G3 are one of the most plentiful used parts available. In the US, eBay always has several available. It may be easier to get another one, swap them, then attempt the repair. (Or skip the repair and be done.)
Life is too short for self-abuse. Everyone makes mistakes. Stop kicking yourself and use it as a learning experience. When you have fixed this -- by whatever method -- you will show yourself that you are resourceful, flexible, and clever.

Help...stupid me saved a loaded brush over basic brushes

Is there anywhere where I can download the basic brushes file? I clicked "save" instead of "save as" and my loaded brush overwrote the basic brushes. Now I don't know how to get my basic brushed back.

PLEASE HELP - Stupidly deleted "Apple Application Support" Unable to Access Itunes Library (5,000+ songs at stake) = :(

PLEASE HELP - I have stupidly deleted the apple application support off my computer, and I am unable to launch my Itunes..It advises me to download itunes again, however i am TERRIFIED to do so because I have over 5,000 songs in my Library and no doubt my entire collection will inevitably be wiped.PLEASE HELP..I am almost in tears. I have attempted searching google for "Apple Application" Support downloads however it directs me to the apple website, and to no avail I cannot find anything to aid me...any responses would be greatly appreciated..!!!!!!!!!!

Reinstall iTunes from Apple's website. Reinstalling iTunes does not wipe your library, but you should have a backup regardless.

Need HELP setting colors in GUI

hi iam trying to write a program that allows you to check the color red green or blue once you selected your color and click the button i created its suppose to display the color what i have done so far gives a problem i think its simple but i just cant seem to find it thats why its so frustrating but when i select a color and press show it only gives me black regardless of what color is choosen if anyone can take a look at my code and give me some kind of feedback that would be great thanks

Okay here's some feedback first of all your
explanation of what you are trying to do and what
happens is hardly readable because you don't use
sentences and people will prolly just skim over it
just for that reason and right they are to continue
you should be congratulated for using code tags that
does help a lot now your code would be a lot more
readable if you followed standard conventions like
not starting class names with lowercase and not
starting variable names like fields with an uppercase
such as JColor and finally you should not have your
frame be its own actionlistener you should create a
separate (anonymous inner class) instance of a
listener for each component when you have done all
this (and your problem isn't fixed yet) please come

Need help installing WRT54G v4

Okay, this is getting really obnoxious. My warranty ran out on this thing a while back and so they won't help me on the phone, which I think is BS to begin with since I paid for this product I don't think there should be a limit on when I can get help getting the stupid thing to work. But anyways.. I'm trying to set it up for my PC and PS3 this is a new PC and I haven't broken this router out in years, but last time I did it worked fine on all the computers in the house. Well, I plugged it in, hooked up the internet, all the lights are on and seem to be indicating everything's working fine. Yet, I get no internet connection right off the bat, but I figured that's normal. Yet when I go through the install program, and it reaches stage 7 'check the router's access'. It gives me a message of something like 'cannot send' or something of that nature and tells me I have to input the information manually which meant I had to call my ISP and all, once that was done and I got that set up there came the stage after that, which was a new stage 1, configure wireless settings. Had me hold down the cisco logo till it turned white and flashing then click next. Well, when I went and clicked next, it brought up the progress bar and it stayed at zero then gave some sorta error. I don't think it's sending or receiving any information whatsoever to or from my computer, could anyone help?

let me know the isp details whether cable or DSL connection .. also , connect the computer directly to the modem and check the ip add on the computer ...
