Updatinng N95-1 Running NSU compatible with XP sp2

Please Help. I run NSU comptatible with XP sp2. I started to update the phone. NSU downloaded the 116.2 MB software and started to update the phone. It says etsimated time 15 mins but I ve been waiting more than 30mins. What should I do? THe current firmware version of the phone is 12.0.013
and the new version that nsu detected is 21.0.016.

You should hope, that the phone didn´t crash while flashing the firmware, because in that case you might have to take it to a Nokia Care Center.
I´d wait another 15min and close all other applications and see if it goes on.
After that i would unplug it, close NSU, restart NSU, plug in the phone when asked for it and pray it is recognized...

ERROR IN NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER 2.5.2(LATEST) For ...

Hi everyone. I yesterday installed Nokia Software Updater 2.5.2 (LATEST) on my PC Running-
Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit build 7600
No ovi suite installed.
I had some problems in my new software V50 of Nokia 5800.
I tried to reinstall the firmware but there is no option to reinstall as earlier versions of NSU had.
But in help file of that NSU(5.2.5) it is written that-:
''After the phone has been detected and identified and the update information checked, Nokia Software Updater displays a summary on the PC screen. If you want to continue updating your phone software, click the Update button. It is also possible to reinstall the same software version that is already in the phone.
Now what do I do as in my NSU there is no option to Reinstall??
Please guys help me out.

Actually I updated through FOTA. It was successfull.but now I had some problems after it has been successfully installed.That's why I wanted to reinstall it and there is no option to reinstall. SO please tell me if u know any way to reinstall the installed update

Hello everyone,
I started the software update on my N73 and received a message saying that the application (Nokia Software Update) was not working anymore and was forcing to shut down. The problem is that afterwards the cell phone cannot be started and after reading the help doc for the NSU, I tried to turn the connection between the laptop and the cell phone (I was doing this by cable) and now the device is not recognise, ergo I can't reconnect and restart the update or by that matter I can't do anything with the phone since it refuses to start.
Does anyone have any idea about what I could do to make it at the very least start again?
I'll hopefully wait for your suggestions, thank you in advance!

Dear post007. Thank you for pointing out that my posts are a waste of time. I'm sure everyone here will believe someone who has submitted under 20 posts over someone who has authored over 6000 and who has the second highest rank possible on this forum.
It just so happens that the procedure I linked to does work for some people. As such there was also a chance that it could have worked for this person too and that pointing it out was therefore not pointless.
Now, I'm not a moderator here, nor am I anything to do with Nokia other than being a happy user of many Nokia products over the years. However, I can confidently say that many here will frown upon a newcomer pointing out that information that has helped people in the past is a waste of time.

6680 Orange update didn't kill Orange App

Hi,
I just got the e-mail from NOKIA club telling me it's now possible to flash your phone at home. So happy to read that !!!
I was finally able to get rid of Orange app with those **bleep**py icons and ....
Anyway, I followed the procedure and it worked fine. HOWEVER, I was so desappointed to see my phone startup as when I first got from Orange store. Meaning standard NOKIA apps for 6680 are not present and worse than that, the Orange theme is there as well. All this even before I restored my previously saved data into my memory card.
This is very annoying. What's wrong here ?

When you use NSU, you will get the latest version of your network variant which supplied the handset.

ok now i want to update my software to the latest version which is available now and i've checked it. but when i connect my phone and run th NSU it says "unable to find phone" so i've searched so many forums on internet have done each and every trick they said but nothing happened problem is still on. i have cable CA-53 installed its driver also. but nothing happened
please let me know if someone already comesup from this stupid bug.

hey thanks but NSU didnt detected my phone
i have reinstalled it again n again. turned off my firwall, installed new cable driver done every thing but nothing happened. NSU is installed ok. but when i connect my phone as Mass Storage it detects but when i want to connect my phone as Pc Suit it dont. NSU says Unable to find Phone. im just freaking out now. i spent my whole day yesterday but nothing happened.

Can´t update nor uninstall NSU...!!! HELP!!!

I was trying to uninstall the NSU and I keep getting an error:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A scrip required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action Kill_process scrip error - 2146827858"
every time i start the application it says theres an update, I download it but the same error will pop-up, so, i can not uninstall nor update... I have windows XP

You can read here for more information on a more indepth way on how to reinstall Nokia applications - the example specifically refers to PC Suite, but should be transferable to the NSU without problems. Please read each thread completely before proceeding.

If you don't feel comfortable following the instructions then my advice to you would be to seek professional help in solving this as you could end up with a PC which won't be able to start

hi the nsu cant recognize my phone although i reisntall it and the nokia pc suite again and again, and followed the help instructions.
i need another version of the nsu- older version to try to use it and it may help with the problem.
does someone has an older version of nsu or can tell me where can i find it?

Unfortunately if you're looking to update N95 to v21.0.016 you have to use latest version v1.4.23en of NSU. As previous poster mentioned any empty or corrupted registry keys from previous installations can prevent NSU from installing correctly.

This goes out to all Nokia Officials..
Please do release another version of the NSU which actually detects the Nokia 6288 & updates software version OR atleast provide some way of reverting back to the previous version of the phone software(5.92)...
Right now,we are stuck with the glitchy v6.10 in the phone & we can't update to a newer version nor revert back to the older yet stable v5.92 !!
This is all,we(N6288)owners ask for..
Any help from your side would be greatly appreciated !!

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?

Check your phone is recogonised by Nokia PC suite, if that is working then do the following
1. Kill all the process of nsu_UI_client.exe in Task Manager
2. Start up the Software updater again and check it works ?
Make sure you click on the software updater only once as it takes time to come up.
HOpe this sorts out.

Help! I can't update my nokia 5800 using the NSU.

Guys I've been trying to update my 5800 v31 to a v50. but the updater appears with a configuration error message. I tried to follow the steps on the help menu. But I can't find an open port to use with the updater. all the ports are closed. What do I do??

I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:

This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:

Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
Solution:
Through this error I found this MSKB article:

The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
PendingXmlIdentifier
NextQueueEntryIndex
AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
