I was literally doing nothing on my laptop. The fans where going crazy unbelievable.. They where super looud for a minute. I checked my rpm and it was almost 4000.. And my battery is not doing okay eather.. I have like 14 cycles and the battery health is allready on 94% please help me. Should I return my mac

The condition is normal
But my fans are going crazy.. I only have my macbook for 3 a 4 weeks now.

Formatting the iPod shouldnÕt take any longer than a few minutes.
First of all, try clicking on the little x in the top corner, which might take you to the next stage in the process. Sometimes it gets stuck.
If this doesnÕt work, shut down the computer, disconnect the iPod, restart the computer, run the updater again, and connect the iPod when prompted.
Never leave it like that for 3 days. You risk permanent damage to the hd if you do.

Please help: When running video software, screen goes crazy

I am experiencing the following issue and have already taken my computer (under warranty) to the Genius Bar where they say nothing shows up as being wrong. They want to do further testing but I can't part with the laptop till the work week is over tomorrow night.
In the meantime, does anyone have a clue?

I comes on gradually with an all over "blink" and flicker before it freezes up and goes crazy. This only happens, so far, when I use a program called CatDV which is a footage cataloguing software I need at work.
Any ideas or suggestions? The genius bar did quick diagnostics and said everything passed and I updated all software/system updates already.

SIMS 2.. New Mac im going crazy.. HELP

I used to have a dell and thought Macs were supposed to be this crazy awesome computer.. so i got a Macbook yesterday as a Christmas present.. The main reason i bought it was to play Sims 2 on it and of course school work.. so i also bought the Sims 2 along with the computer yesterday..
I installed the Sims.. first i had a message trying to tell me i didnt have enough room i needed 1 free space or something, which i dont understand because i just bought the computer i havent downloaded anything, so i read some posts i apparently did it wrong i opened the dvd or whatever..
So i dragged it into the harddrive stuff and it worked.. but runs beyooooond slow like slower than my 5 year old dell laptop that has about 6 different sim games loaded on it, plus thousands of downloads of ohter games, music, videos, and whatever else.
I need help before i freak out and return the stupid mac because im really not impressed with it at all as of right this second
ps. the macbook has 2.2 ghz, 2gb of something, and 120 of whatever.. i dont know computer terms... its was the most expensive i could get in the white 13" macbook you could get according to the sales man and i distincly told him i like to play video games and he said it would work fine..
..my boyfriend said it might have to do with the video card.. do i not have one what is this... i need help!!

While the Macbook lacks a "dedicated" graphics card, I still find that it has a tendenacy to be sluggish on SIMS 2. Despite the fact that caliber of 3D graphics in that game aren't the most cutting edge, there's always a lot going on and the "shared" graphics card can sometimes be sluggish.
Technically, the person who sold you the computer is correct in saying that the Macbook is capable of playing games. The problem is, some more discovery should have occurred. With the way computer gaming has progressed, saying something basic like: "I'd like to play games" doesn't really answer any questions.
Try the update, as mentioned, it sped things up a bit for me. But ultimately, I still run the game at the lowest graphical settings most of the time. If you still feel frustrated and bored with the machine then you may wish to contact the store you purchased it. It's a great machine, you've got a fantastic machine but it's certainly not a showcase piece for high-end or processor intensive 3D gaming, nor is it advertised as such.

Help / Advise please - new Mac Pro

As a gamer, not a tech expert i would really appreciate some advise on what to do / say to apple support (uk) when i phone them, for the first time, about my faulty Mac Pro - only 4 months old.
The faulty part of my mac is the internet equipment in it, I'm getting high pings when gaming & running speed tests & when running a path ping test getting 13% packet loss at the very start.
What i have done to confirm it's the Mac that's faulty is - test with different ethernet cable, test using the macs wifi, connect my dads computer to cable modem using my ethernet cable & he gets no packet loss & much lower ping than my mac did.
Any help & advise greatly appreciated.

Mac mini goes crazy upon booting

hello all,
I have a powerpc 1.25 mac mini which had os x (10.3.4 (i think)) and needed an app (linotype explorer) which required a newer version of os x. I upgraded it with a 10.4.3 disk i had and all seemed to be fine. After a restart or two however, things have gone pearsheaped.
I can login fine though when the desktop is displayed, there are no icons on the desktop, no menu bar on the top of the screen (though the spotlight icon appears) and the dock appears occasionally. Interestingly finder does not appear to be open. If i attempt to open any programs from the dock they fail.
I have been able to boot the mac into safe mode, I have ran the updater and installed os 10.4.6 and the other required updates. I have repaired the permissions on the disk and have carried out the hardware test on the installation disk. Still nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Since you can boot into safe mode your problem involves a program you have selected to auto-start or a startup item.
So, boot into safe mode again and 1) open the root Library folder and drag the StartupItems folder to the desktop, 2) open the System Control Panels, select the Accounts icon, select the Login Items, and remove them. (You’ll probably want to jot down the names of them all so you can select them again and if you have a lot of them you may want to just create a new account)
Now restart your computer - it will probably start fine. Now you’ll want to slowly add things back until you find which item(s) aren’t compatible with Tiger.
Note: If you have Adobe’s Creative Suite - remove Cue from the startupItems folder and also look in the PrefPanes folder of your Library folder and remove the Cue item. Do this first and restart. Then return to the above steps if you still have problems.

I went to get my Ipod and it said to connect it to iTones, it's never done this before, but I have a lock code on it, so everytime I try and plug it in it says I must first enter the password. but it won't let me do so because I can not see anything on the screen but the icon telling me to plug it into iTones! does anyone know what to do???? or am I just S.O.L? has anyone else ever had this problem? if so please help me out! I would really like to have my Ipod back I'm going crazy not being able to do anything about this

For outlook or hotmail emails they use a pop server technology that you can't sync your computer and your iPhone with. You have to unfortunately delete the emails from both devices. It is super frustrating but that is the only way.

ok so me and my sister both have ipods and one computer in the house, we listen to very diffrent music, she hates my music i hate hers...so a friend of mine told me that i can make a second library for itunes so that my sister can import her music and download it onto her ipod and i can do it with my music. I just dont want to have music on my ipod that i dont like its really annoying to have to use up that memory with music i dont listen to and having to scroll over all her music so get to mine...is there anyone out there that can help me please...i would really appreciate it if someone out there could give me some kind of solution to this itunes issue...thx!

Yep. So don't use it, use the "piano roll" view - you have a lot more control over the lenghts of your notes and the exact beginning. Enter the notes by holding down the Apple key and clicking and dragging (the onscreen keyboard can only be used in "record" mode). Use the same mode to modify imported midi tracks.
There are no solo strings in GB, but you should have a string ensemble and some basic choir.

MBP Fans going crazy!!! HELP!!

I am going to give you all the WHOLE story!

four weeks ago I came home and heard a loud "roaring" noise from my room. When I got in there I noticed it was my MBP's fans. They are spinning at full speed. Well the MBP was on but nothing would come on the screen. I took out the battery and tried again and AS SOON as I touched the power button the fans would already be at full blast but nothing would come on the screen.
I pretty much figured the logic board went out on this thing, so I took it to get repaired. Well the total price on the repair is...$1,735.79. I just got it back today and AS SOON as you press the power button THE FANS ARE SUCKING SMALL BIRDS FROM THE SKY! but this time the screen comes on and I am able to work for about 30 minutes then the battery is completly dead.
I got iStat pro and and a couple of other Fan/heat monitoring devices, and it will NOT show the fans...Pretty much it says
Fan 1: 0RPM
Fan 2: 0RPM
Now keep in mind this happens as soon as I power it on. I can boot into windows and I still get the same problem.
Also another anoying thing, my date and time is suppose to sync up with Apple..for some reason im stuck in January 3rd 2001!!!
Someone please help me out on here I am going crazy.

Have you been back to wherever you had the repair done? Clearly something is very wrong here. Whoever did the repair should have tested your Mac and made sure it was working properly before giving it back to you. I assume that you mentioned the fans going all out as a problem? Obviously this very expensive repair did not fix the problem.
There should be some sort of warranty on the work that was done. Both on the labor and on the replacement logic board itself.
The error code you got on the right fan may indicate that it is beginning to fail. If they keep running like this, they will both fail.
I have no idea why iStatPro should indicate 0 RPM when the fans must be running at 6000 RPM. It's almost as if it is reporting the exact opposite of what is really happening. I wonder if it is possible to plug the fans in incorrectly?
