I transferred data to my MacBook Pro, then I accidentally did an UNDO and all the data desapeared....What can I do to recover it???

Sorry, but it's probably lost, then, presuming you never made a backup. There's a dim chance that you could recover at least some of the data using a file recovery utility such as Data Rescue from Prosoft Engineering, but the chances aren't good and get lower the more you use your computer.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro 13, green light on magsafe, but not charging, not powering on

Hi there, I have a Macbook Pro 13 early 2011 i5, and it's stoped working, when it's on the charger the green light comes on, when i pres battery indicator on the side of mbp there is only one green light flashing. when i press power button nothing hapends, mbp wont turn on, i have tried to do the reset, did not helped. Maby someone had, the same problem and knows how to fix it, or knows if its completle dead, and not worth to fix. Thanks

Take the machine to an Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostics on it. They will give you a quote on how much it would cost to fix your machine. Then you can decide if it's worth repairing or if its just time to replace it.
I'm assuming that you didn't buy the extended AppleCare warranty? Too bad - if you had the machine would likely be repaired free of charge...

  • Old internal Macbook Pro hard drive (now in enclosure) is partially read in Disc Utility, but not in Finder or Diskwarrior - I need those files!

Recently I totalled my old Macbook Pro with a glass of red wine. Fortunately, whilst the guys at the mac store said that almost every component was totally screwed - the HD seemed okay. On their advice I purchased an enclosure, carefully removed and installed the old HD, booted up my new Macbook Pro...
Upon plugging in the drive (via USB) I receive the following message - "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" and the options "Initialize, Ignore, Eject". The drive is, obviously, not read by Finder but upon clicking initialize I get this from Disk Utility.
All options are 'greyed out' - there doesn't seem to be anything that I can do to retrieve the information at this juncture - so I downloaded Diskwarrior but to no avail. It doesn't seem to recognise the existance of the drive at all.
A few things I will try today: Powering the enclosure externally (it's currently running off the USB), Purchasing a different enclosure.
Another issue is that I'm not made of money and I've already forked out £100 for enclosure/Diskwarrior. I am not madly keen on blowing the same amount again to get an engineer to come and shrug at it. Or worse, pay £1 per GB for data retrieval!
Does anyone have any ideas/advice about this at all?

File recovery software: Try using an application such as Data Rescue 3 - http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php or FileSalvage - http://subrosasoft.com, or one of the ones listed in the link below. Some have free trial versions that let you see if the software will help before you decide to buy. You will also need a second hard drive equal to or larger in size than your first drive as a destination drive for recovered files.

  • Macbook Pro Mid 2012 w/ Thunderbolt built in display - Green light stays on constantly...

Just recently this week,  the green light next to the isight/webcam built in on my Thunderbolt 27" monitor just stays on mostly all the time.  I have followed all of the troubleshooting steps of resetting the PRUM and MCU, placing the computer to sleep, waking it up, shutting it down, doing a hard shutdown (holding down the power button on the laptop itself)   Shutting down the computer, unplugging everything,  unplugging the power cords.  I have TRIED EVERYTHING..... and for whatever reason the green light next to the built in webcam on my Thunderbolt 27" monitor connected to my MacbookPro (I've always had the laptop lid closed)  the light stays on......
I beg anyone who has had this problem, please respond and help.    Also,  FYI   I have NOT downloaded any new software or uninstalled anything... I work from home and this is my WORK PC.  The only thing I tired doing when this started happening was join a google hangout.... and that's when it started
since then,  I have uninstalled google chrome from my mac and also uninstalled the googlevoiceandtalk   application using a script from google that I ran in the Terminal with SUDO.

I hope to hear from someone.

Took it to the apple store. The problem was my logic board. I sent it off to be replaced.

On my MacBook Pro whenever I select an image to save or copy, it selects the whole page. Also does a similar thing on iTunes: whever I select an album cover it gives the whole listing.

  • My Macbook Pro laptop won't power up and the green light is on at the power cord source

I haven't started up my laptop for 2 days and this morning I went to tunr it on and it would not start up. The battery is fully charged and I only purchased a new battery last year so it should be OK. I have tried all the options as suggested in the forum including restting the SMC. Any ideas what could be the problem?

    jenmesser,
please list all of the options which you have tried so far, so that we don’t suggest anything which you’ve already tried.

It's generally better to start your own Topic, rather than adding onto an existing one.  This is to avoid confusion when provideing troubleshooting solutions.
Please start a new topic about your issue so it can receive more focused attention.

  • Trying to set up airport extreme with a dsl modem and get DSN server not found message .   Get a green light on airport but no internet modem and get

Am attempting to set up a Wi Fi network with an airport extreme.    Get most of the way through the setup  (have a dsl modem) but get an error that it cannot connect to the internet.   Says I have a problem with a DSN server and asks for  what appears to be a series of numbers.    I had an old airport express working for some time and never saw this.
Decided to upgrade since the express was not powerful enough to work in the whole house.

It is always a good idea when changing out networking hardware to perform a complete power recycle of all of your networking gear.
    Please try the following:
Power-down the modem, AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), and computer(s). Leave them powered-off for at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to make sure that is has enough time to initialize.
Power-up (plug into power) the AEBS; wait at least 5-10 minutes or until its status light is a solid green. (Note: The status light may continue to flash amber after this timeframe. This is ok as it may just be letting you know that some additional configuration items need to be taken care of like setting up wireless security.)
    Power-up the computer(s).
Computers connected to the AEBS by either wire or wireless should now be able to access the Internet. Please post back your results.

  • HELP MY MACBOOK PRO TRACKPAD IS PARALYZED

My Macbook Pro's trackpad is paralyzed. The button is stuck in clicking position, and I can't unclick it. I went into system prefs to turn it off when a mouse is connected, and that doesn't help because it keeps clicking, so the mouse is paralyzed as well. I had to maneuver over to this site manually, all by keyboard. I need some sort of way that I can "kill" all clicking functions, so I can cut the trackpad out and put the mouse in as a first option instead of a secondary. Please help me out, I don't know how long I can go on a keyboard alone.

OK, it's not so much of a big deal anymore, I went into system prefs and managed to disable the trackpad through universal access. I have regained control over the mouse
Now, what am I supposed to with regard to the stuck trackpad? It's still stuck, I've just cut it off from the computer. My Macbook Pro is one of the first generations, if I bring it to an Apple store what can they do? I hope that a trackpad replacement doesn't involve a ton of crap.

Please help! Itunes fails to open on my macbook pro. I have removed itunes and reinstalled it and it still will not work!

Try removing the Genius database.  In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

Did you download and install the Windows Support software? If you did, did you use the Boot Camp Control icon to set up the trackpad how you want it?

Some basics please, what vintage is your MBP, have you plugged anything else into the wall socket to verify that it is live? which light doesn't turn on, the charger or the MBP?
Hold the power button down for 15 seconds, wait for 2 then press it normally and see te MBP it turns on
