  • My bran new 4 day old IPod Touch 32GB just slipped onto my table and the glass on front has cracked bad - how do I get this fixed?

    Hello
My New 4 day old IPod Touch 32 GB just slipped onto my kitchen table and the glass cracked - is it still under any warranty and how much will it cost to repair?

Accidental damage is not covered under the limited manufacturer's warranty, which is a year from the purchase date.

  • 3 day old ipod 5th gen won't work! Scan and Fix spam message...

I have owned an ipod for about 6 years, upgrading to a new version whenever I could afford it, and for Christmas my father bought me the new 5th gen nano. The last one I had was a 2nd gen nano... I have always kept my itunes up to date and so on and so forth and I have used my new 5th gen for about three days when suddenly I plug it in today and; I start getting a spam of error messages saying that there is something wrong with the ipod and that I need to Scan and Fix it. When I click Scan and Fix it closes out and says that it can not read the disk. iTunes tells me that there s something wrong with my ipod and immediately ejects it before I can even restore it.
In addition, winamp also will not recognize the new ipod but it sees my old one...
I tried using the command prompt thing but I have no idea what driver my ipod is plugged into so I keep getting errors...
I have no idea what to do about this and I am not finding any answers, I'm getting pretty upset ):

  • HT1386 need to sync my old ipod with my new computer, How do I keep my old stuff on the new computer?

How can I transfer stuff from my old Ipod to my new computer?

Still did not work. I did everything listed. The program did not work as needed because it is only the free version and I should not have to pay for 3rd party software for something like this. Also, that article is outdated because windows 7 does not come with contacts software, but I managed to get it to work with a helpful post on another forum. Itunes still asked me to replace current iPod's data, I went ahead and clicked yes. I'll just go ahead and redownload all of my music and whatnot. Thanks anyway.

  • Three day old Macbook pro, 15" 2.8 model...I am loving the switch from PC!

Hello everyone. I just wanted to post some of my likes and dislikes of the Macbook Pro 15" 2.8 GHZ model for those searching this forum for reviews.
The computer I have is completely up-to-date, with the latest 10.6.1 OS, with Logic Express to boot. So far I have found the computer very responsive for my uses and fast. When I first received the computer, I thought it had Snow Leopard already installed. It wasn't until last night (I purchased the computer on Saturday) that I realized that I still had 10.5.7 Leopard installed. After installing Snow Leopard I am pleased to say I noticed a considerable improvement with Logic Express. Before, the computer randomly had warning pop-ups while using the software. I was a bit annoyed and did contact Apple about potential bugs with Logic. Of course, after installing Snow Leopard everything is running great.
As for the 5400 RPM drive, for my uses, it is very fast and very responsive. I don't think I will be upgrading in the future because any audio recording I do is on an external 7200 RPM hard drive. If the prices for SSD come down considerably, I may choose to upgrade my hard drive then, but for the time being I am very, very happy.
I will say that I am not as impressed with i-photo as I thought I would be. I really enjoy the easy slideshow modes that it features, but I don't find the "face-recognition" that responsive. Maybe I am doing something wrong though. As I said earlier, I am new to Mac, and have only had the computer for three days now.
I got the Anti-glare screen model as well, and let me tell you, that is the best part of the viewing experience. I don't understand how some of you out there love the glare screens. Too much reflection for my tastes and less motion-sickness. The anti-glare screen is very professional looking in my opinion as well, and does not reflect the light from the keyboard at all. Also, if you are looking to extend your battery life to the largest potential possible, the anti-glare screen is still usable with the screen dimmed. I noticed with the glare screens, the glare became very apparent when dimmed, which left me with no choice but to keep it at near-full brightness.
Fit and finish of the machine is amazing. Much better than my previous HP Pavilion DV6000!
I also bought a clear Speck hard-shell cover for the Macbook Pro too. I want to baby this computer and keep it in good shape. If I had to rate the Speck shell, I'd give it a 9-out-of-10. It works great, but allows some dust to come through, hence the 9 rating.
This laptop is also GREAT to use outdoors, in sunny conditions! I am guessing that is due to the anti-glare screen, and the highly bright, LED LCD display. I love it, and while that is cool, why use your laptop outdoors?
Anyways, so far, I am very happy with my Mac purchase. I felt obligated to write this because when I used to search these forums for advise, most of what I came across were horror stories and complaints, which really skewed and worried me. I want potential buyers to see some positives too.
PS: I have been trying to push my computer to get the dreaded beach-balling phenomenon that some users describe. I have had the beach-ball pop up, spinning in it's hyper color glory, but it lasts for the most a few seconds, and pops up when I load up a bunch of apps at once (like 6).
    Have fun and be safe!
    -Bud

    Thanks !
Great comments Bud! Glad you got a kick out of my handle. ;o) I thought is was a fitting title considering how many Macintoshes I have around here! ;o)
I am sure that you will probably encounter some "issues" with using you new MBP, but I am pretty sure it will be related to "unlearning" the Windows way of doing things! lol!
I always tell people that the best part about a Mac is OSX! 10.6 is proving to be an EXCELLENT step forward in this great OS' long history! Being kind of a techy, I know how much "under the hood" improvements this new version has going on. Many of these improvements will benefit you as a musician as you start using your machine for music related purposes. Just wait until we start seeing more support for 64 bit! :o)
As for the screen debate... Yeah, I can't understand the appeal of the "GLOSSY" screen either. I guess when you don't consider these things as a TOOL, you are more concerned with the BLING factor than you are with accuracy and useability of the device itself.
I have read a lot of very flippant remarks on here and elsewhere aimed at those complaining about the previous lack of the Matte screen option. Some saying that the percentage of users who would want that version was in the single digits. Guess they didn't see all those POLLS on photography web sites, where the percentage of those preferring a MATTE screen was in the 90+ percent range. ;o)
I would remind those "consumers", that it was "Media Professionals" that kept Apple in business during the "dark" days when everyone was predicting the demise of the Mac and Apple as a company. It was nice to see Apple finally give a nod to these "Professionals" by finally offering the Matte screen option we NEED again on their "PRO" line of laptops.
Just checked my order and see that it is PREPARED FOR SHIPMENT! :o)
My only worry is the possibility of a STUCK PIXEL. I have never had a problem with this before, but it is always something I worry about every time I buy a new machine with an LCD screen. I am hoping that the MATTE screens get a better QC going over than the Glossy models do.
Thanks again for posting your thoughts! It is always rewarding to read the impressions of a recent convert!
    Cheers. :o)

  • IPod Help needed from serious Apple gurus - iPod Touch 2g 16g stuck in restart loop. Will NOT enter DFU or recovery mode, NOT recognized by iTunes on Windows or Mac

Ok, so here's the not so sad story. I bought an iPod Touch 2g 16g through Ebay - so forget warranties. Luckily I did not pay much. The description said it was stuck on the apple logo, so I figured it would be an easy put into recovery mode and restore problem.
    Not so much.
If you plug the iPod in and charge up the battery the LCD will come to life after a while with the apple logo, then it displays the spinning wheel with the apple logo over it. That will last anywhere from 10 - 15 minutes, then the iPod will go blank for a few secs and then start up the cycle all over again.
As stated, this iPod will NOT enter either DFU or recovery mode and believe me I've tried it several times several different ways with different timings, connected via USB to a Mac, connected to a different Mac running Windows, and connected to just the charger. Nothing. Occasionally the screen might go blank while holding the power and home buttons but nothing else happens and then it starts it's usual cycle again.
Again, iPod NOT recognized by iTunes on either Mac or Windows side. Since I got off Ebay and seller didn't know much about it, I have no idea if someone tried to jailbreak this or not.
I will not put much money into this machine. So I guess my question is: does this behavior mean that the motherboard is clearly fried? Are there any software programs that might diagnose what the problem is? Could it be as simple as a fried battery?
And most importantly, is this iPod simply toast or is there anything anyone can suggest????
Really any suggestions would be greatly greatly appreciated. Seems a shame to just trash an iPod touch that might need a simple fix...
If it helps matters, I can tinker with iPods somewhat and have torn down and replaced several iPod touch 1g and 2g glass and digitizers with no problems. I'm somewhat software savvy but the whole jailbreak thing is new territory... and I can't really figure out the command in Windows or Mac terminals to list all connected devices so I have no idea if the computer even knows the iPod is there, even if iTunes doesn't. Guess that's it... ummm, please help???

Nothing huh? No one's had this problem or this isn't fixable... oh well... if anybody comes up with anything I'll check in occasionally...

  • 2 day old iPod Classic - iQuiz crashed - also whistle sound.

Only had my iPod Classic 160 for two days. Got it yesterday.
Today, I launched iQuiz for the first time. It asked me one question. Then on the second question it froze, and locked up the whole iPod.
Does this happen to other people? Should I be worried about this behaviour? Just not sure if iPods do crash now and then, or if they normally never crash (or very rarely). Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I've noticed that when moving around between menus, or in cover flow, right after some art loads, the hard drive makes a quick whistley sound. Not sure if this is normal either. Thanks.

I have an iPod Classic 160GB as well. Mine rarely and I can't even remember if at all it has ever crashed. Did you try and run iQuiz again? Did it work properly? If YES then I wouldn't worry about it.
The HD noise that you mention is rather normal. It is a mechanical drive and therefore some sound and a little vibration is expected. The Key is the loudness of the sound. If it is loud and whirling then the HD could be defective.
You know, it is only 2 days old. It is still under warranty. Watch its performance closely for a week or two and then you should be able to either get comfortable with it or not. If NOT then get it exchanged.

  • Two day old iPod 30 gb CLICKWHEEL NOT WORKING! PLEASE HELP!!!

    Hi,
I recieved my ipod video 30gb two days back. Today I was listening to it via externally powered speakers when I needed to go out. I pulled the speakers off and plugged in my earphones and it kept playing. When I decided to change the song, it would not respond at all.
I went ahead with the 5 Rs. But now after restore it is stuck on the language selection screen! I can't scroll or select.
Funny thing is that although I can use the menu and select buttons to restart it, they refuse to work otherwise! Clickwheel is simply not working
I decided to connect my camera adapter to it. It recognised the camera and gave me the option to import or to cancel. Hmmmm... Sorry no buttons would work!!!
When I connect it to the laptop, it is recognised as a drive and I can transfer stuff to and from the disk. I can even transfer through itunes.
Could someone PLEASE help me with this as its out of business hours now and i'm really anxious about this!
    Thanks
    Anul

Just spoke to Apple customer service. The guy told me to let the battery run down completely and then charge it again to see if it fixes the thing. The odd thing was that he told me it would take about 8-9 hours for the iPod to do this. Wouldn't you think that its really short time for the battery to run out in sleep when its supposed to give 10+hours with music playing!
The guy was really helpful though and said it could be replaced from an apple store if nothing works out. We have a reseller here in Liverpool, would anyone know if they would be able to replace it for me?
    Thanks for all the input!

  • Help needed with tracklisting on my Ipod Classic

    Hi,
    Hope you can help.
I bought a couple of different Simon and Garfunkel compilations(The Essential, and Old Friends) and put the tracks onto iTunes.
I then painstakingly changed the album titles of each track and the track number so that in itunes it looks like the original albums. On itunes itself the tracks appear in the correct order as they do on the originals.
But when transfering them to my ipod classic the order they appear in ignores the new track numbers I have given them but plays them in the order they appeared on the two compilation albums.
Can you help? It's driving me crazy that my version of Bridge Over Troubled Water does not start with the title track!

Did you make the changes inside iTunes or with another tag editor? If you did it outside iTunes then the files might have multiple tags which iTunes doesn't support. Alternatively the tracks imported from "The Essential" may have their Sort Album field populated as "Essential" which could affect the order tracks get played in. See my previous post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic Tracks out of sequence.

  • Will You Help me with my Day Old Mac Mini?

As I was setting up mac mini and connecting to trackpad, I turned the mac mini off so i could set it up later because i had companny coming.  Then when I turned it on, all the personal and acoount, user information was skipped so when I went to settings to enter that it said I needed a password which I never set up.  Now I cannot use my newly bought mac mini i bought earlier today.
Please Help Me, I do not know what to do.  I am thinking about taking it back to apple.
    ALso another Question
CAn you return a mac mini that has been pirchased within a few days to get a new fresh one to start over on?

I'm sure Apple will help you on this, but try booting it up holding CMD + r keys to get the Rstore options.

  • I want to exchange my three month old iPod for a new one at target in new jersey. It's has mechanical problems and it's not my doing. When I exchange at target will they charge me and if how much?

I have my iPod touch four since black Friday; November. It's been acting weird lately.
It's randomly crashing. On my photos on videos an none of my friends experience that.
It's been blacking out and freezing and there is a whole load of battery left.
I taken care of it. It has one or two minor scratches and I keep it in the right temperature. (never leave it in my car on a cold Or sunny day.
I bought it in target and I want to exchange it for a new one. I'm sick of it freezing and running extremely slow when I have Four apps. I have less then fourth photos. I have loads of memory. If I exchange it in target will they make me pay a returning fee and if so how much?
Also, I have a app tht I paid 9.99 for (math app) if I return my iPod will it still be on my iTunes so I could redownload it to my new one?
    Thanks so much.

I would take it to an Apple store, if it's deemed defective you will receive a new one.
Before this make sure you try to reboot, reset, restore
As for the app, you can reload purchases from the cloud but it you should be syncing to iTunes. Also backup your device.

  • More help needed  re: playlists and restoring ipods

we have our songs on two ipods, and we need them tobe in better order re: dance music, country, rock, etc..
i know we can create a playlist in itunes...whats the best way to get them on the ipod this way.
delete all on the ipod, and then add the playlists the way we want them?
Or can we move them around without deleting stuff? Need the easiest (fastest way)

ok...we had someone at the apple store check out our ipods, and they said "they're a mess...better off restoring them"
so, when I plug the ipod into the pc, there will be an option to restore to default...then once I create my playlists, they'll go into the ipod the new way.
